3.2 out of 5
News app

I have GulfCoastNews to get up to date news. I get notifications about a news story, when I click on the story there is no story. Nothing related to the “breaking news” notification. Fix your App.

Revert back to prior version!

The most recent update is, unfortunately, not an improvement. Most people interested in the news can read, so you do not need have huge pictures to have to scroll through. Please revert back to the simple story text links, or at least make it an option.

Last update added massive number of ads

I have now deleted GulfCoastNews. Every time you open it you are slammed with ads. Then, every time you open an article you are slammed with more commercials. It is the only news app I’ve used that does this.

Biased news...stop giving your “opinion”..just the news, please

Biased news

Worst App for IPhone

It takes forever to load. Then when you open an article the title is there but not the article. It was a great app but it gets worse and worse over time!

Blech!

Roll back to the old version. It wasn’t broke so they “fixed” it.

Old version you could scan local news at a glance. Now you have to keep scrolling to even find local news. It’s not even in one place. I guess no one told them about beta testing before release.

Terrible Update

GulfCoastNews has been completely redone and it’s terrible. Not user friendly at all, have to search for the weather which takes you to a separate site where you have to put in your zip and then click radar. The radar has no play option either. By the time I’ve navigated it the weather has past. The old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” rings true in this instance..

Videos won’t play on iPad

How is it the ads play without any problem, but at the end it freezes and the news story won’t play? I didn’t have that problem with the prior version.

Too many ads

The news part is just fine, but the amount of ads is ridiculous.

Videos won’t play

Ever since the last update, videos will not play on iPad. You get a warning that says the format is not supported by the browser.

I like the old version

Old version better

Too many alerts

There are too many alerts that really aren’t alert-worthy.

Editing Needed

GulfCoastNews is great for news, but often has grammatical errors, misspellings and inaccurate or incomplete information. Some news articles never include location - don’t know if the event happened in Florida or Alaska. The weather section in the news app has recently been a day old and the forecast often has the wrong days (ex. Tuesday listed as Wednesday). As others have stated, when you tap a notification, it just goes to the news that hasn’t been updated.

Notifications

GulfCoastNews works as expected except for the notification feature. I used to get notifications which were useful, but in the last month they started sending notifications about winning money—NOT NEWS. If I wanted to win $ I’d get an app that was designed for such! So, I’ve deleted notifications and GulfCoastNews has become less useful.

Great new app

App works very well. But I see the local news is all over the place. Suggestion from readers: Can you create a local tab for local news? Between Lehigh, Ft. Myers, and Cape Coral, there is plenty of news to post.

Faster, prettier

It’s a LOT faster than the old version. I like the ease of swiping between stories. Weather would be better if the weather app stuff was in here too.

Love this app!

As a news junkie, GulfCoastNews keeps me informed and up to date on all the news in SW Florida. Love it!

Better than the old app

You can customize notifications which is a HUGE plus. Takes some getting used to because it’s different than the old app, but give it time and you’ll depend on GulfCoastNews for everything you need to know in SWFL!

5 stars

Best news app!!!

Closing essential business

Shame on you. I will never watch your news cast again. You used to be my go to news. I hope you’re ready for the repercussions of all the businesses that you have shut down shame on you again. Our county does not warrant a complete shutdown you are affecting peoples livelihood

Ads ads ads...then crash

Constant ads, constantly crashing, won’t even open now.

⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️

When will this “tap here for your chance to win $100” few times a day” gonna stop ?! Nobody cares ! Please,is really annoying. Otherwise great app

New app

Why do I have to install the “new app” every time I try to open the NBC2 app ❓ I am ready to uninstall the entire site ‼️@‘!&!•#?}<¥!!

Great app

This is to goto app for news app for SW Florida
It is a must have
