App not useful & now in the midst of a pandemic crashes constantly. Surely this app can do better.
STATNews ’s description advertises “compelling stories about health, medicine ...” etc and POLITICS and medicine and POLITICALLY slanted stories and health and POLITICS ,etc.
Look elsewhere-there are many websites/apps that report ONLY medical and scientific news without the obvious political bias.
Useless. I’m a STAT Plus subscriber. STATNews just links to the website for STAT Plus articles. Exactly what I didn’t want in an app.
I am not paying so much for Stat Plus to not get an actual iPad app. It could be so much more!

As others have mentioned, there is no point to STATNews even if you have a subscription to STAT plus. How can this be? Shameful.
Yikes, they charge hundreds of dollars for a year long subscription and you can’t even sign in with STATNews .

Serious technical flaw... When attempting to log into your Stat+ account, your redirected Tina login page which doesn’t load. You are stuck on a blank/white screen.
What’s the point of having an app if it doesn’t show full articles to paid subscribers?
I was trying to read an article on the mobile site, saw an add for STATNews , downloaded it, and had STATNews send me back to the mobile site. A waste of time.
Paying $29/month for a Stat+ subscription, you still can’t access any premium articles from within STATNews .
Instead, you’re only given a paragraph, and redirected to login to your account via a browser. Only there can you read Stat+ articles.
An incredibly disappointing user experience.
As noted by other reviewers, STATNews from Stat News doesn’t integrate with a StatPlus subscription — which means that you’re better off just bookmarking the this app website in your browser and accessing stories there instead (since most of what you’ll want to read will require clicking through STATNews to the web anyway). This is really lazy app development.
STATNews doesn’t integrate with the website at all. The story layout is horrible. There is no way to sort things by date. It’s only once you click on a story that you get taken to a screen where you can find a menu to sort stories by topic. I love the news service but STATNews is a waste of time. I hope people don’t look at STATNews and think this is what they really represent.
Seriously, they could hire a high school kid and have this improved many times over in a week.
Log in to my Stat plus account through STATNews no longer works (although it works fine via the browser) and there has been no response from customer support yet, several days after submitting the issue
you can’t search. there isn’t an option to tap the top of the screen to scroll the way up. maybe the worst best news app i have ever used.
I pay for STAT+, a very expensive monthly subscription. STATNews does not do premium subscribers like myself justice. I shouldn’t have to be taken out of STATNews to read stat plus articles. In fact, being a subscriber should unlock a better more powerful data driven app. Instead it’s just a directly of articles. Good for 2010, horrible for 2021
I got STATNews to have a better experience of the online Covid vaccine tracker that doesn’t work right on a phone. Well, can I even find the vaccine tracker on STATNews ? No. I can’t search it or find anything. You have some subject headings with curated news, but you can only scroll through it. This could be a really important source for global health articles, but without a search option, without filters, it’s not fit for purpose, really.
I love STAT’s content and STATNews UI is generally great, but I would love if you could include a search feature for easier browsing!
STAT is a wonderful resource for healthcare news. They summarize and communicate information ina. Very easy to understand way. STATNews is great too. Highly recommend.
