I should have read other reviews but I didn’t. MangoTV itself works well. It looks nice and operates smoothly. As with other reviewers my only issue revolve around the subtitles.

There are a few problems with the subtitles (it should be noted that I can only confirm these issues for English subtitles, we have not used any others).

First issue is the timing. we have only watched a few episodes of a single show, but the subtitles are almost always 1 - 2 seconds ahead of the audio.

Second issue is the amount of time that the subtitles appear. They tend to disappear very quickly. If there are more than 5 - 6 words then usually I am unable to completely read it.

The third, and final, issue is using AirPlay, the subtitles do not display. I read about this and it seems like this is a common problem with subtitles when a content server is not setup according to Apple’s specifications.

I purchased a 3 month subscription. I hope these issue are addressed before it expires. If they are I believe there will be a lot of content at a really good price. If these problems are not corrected by the end of the subscription then I will simply not renew.

There are many shows with English subtitles - which would be great if the subtitles were properly synced and actually remained on the screen long enough to read them. So many shows have subs that flash on screen for so short a period that you can’t even hope to catch it with pause. Not that you’d want to watch a show by constantly pausing it to read the subs. I’ve contacted customer service several times regarding a particular show that I literally subscribed to watch before realizing this was an issue. I was somewhat optimistic that they were going to fix it when they responded to confirm the specific show; but that was 6 months ago and it still hasn’t been fixed. I’ve cancelled my membership. Not worth it if you don’t speak Chinese and want to actually understand what is going on in the shows you watch.

I’m not sure what happened to my VIP account. I bind with the same phone number using my phone and my ipad. Both login verifications work on both devices; however, the ipad version says I’m not a VIP. Very strange and frustrating!!! So I had to pay for another VIP membership using the same phone number. But it says you can’t bind 2 accounts using the same phone number in their App feedback, well that’s not the case and it’s backwards in my case. I should’ve been able to use the same phone number and account on both devices. There’s a bug and it needs to be fixed! Or this is how they tricked us into paying more for membership! I have sent support ticket to their support email over a month ago, but never heard anything back! Now the floating comments are completely gone and I am not liking it!! I want a refund on the extra membership fee that I had to pay!

My first complaint is the subtitles flash across the screen way too fast to be read. Then, when the subs do show up it’s intermittent so you feel like you’re not catching everything that’s being said. And even with all of that, I was still trying to hang in there like a champ. But here’s my biggest gripe. I tried to mirror the show to my tv using Apple TV and the daggone subs don’t work when mirroring. I have no desire to watch these shows on my phone. I’m glad the VIP membership was inexpensive because I don’t feel so bad wasting the money. I certainly won’t continue after the month is up.

I changed my rating from 2 to 4 by one star since there are subtitles now; however the subtitles appears and disappears way too fast I can’t even read some content. Sometimes when they talk there are no subs that appears. But overall I appreciate the efforts you guys put into this international platform for us international fans. Truly appreciate it. Better some then none but still would like to see improvements. Thank you for taking the time to make changes and listening to our feedback!

MangoTV is not user friendly at all. It took me forever to figure out how to sign up for VIP...then, while the movie I’m watching has subtitles in ENG, I can’t figure out how to turn off the Asian captions so the English ones are on top of the Asian ones...so hard to read... I cannot even enjoy the movie. Took me also forever to figure out how to get rid of, or at least almost get rid of, the comments flashing across the top of the screen. I have four other Asian apps I use to watch dramas and have never had any of these issues. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE will respond to help me.

You received a two instead of a zero because there is a wide selection of movies, tv shows, etc.
But you never allow me to watch them. Once you’ve bounce me back of the system it takes, sometimes weeks for me to be able to login. I pay 2.99 instead 1.99 but it still asks for an upgrade. When I apply for another upgrade. It sends me to a blank white screen that never changes. I been trying for over six months m. Contact me when you fix the problem.

Mango Tv needs better techs and web engineers. There are always issues with MangoTV and web browser. Paying for VIP but can hardly use it. Paid for a whole year but they keep pushing to renewing already! What the heck! They also can’t get their subtitles right! They’ll say it’s in English but you click in a English and it’s a different language. Dang Mango Tv… such a huge production company but need better techs and engineers! Too many app and web browser issues!

So I am watching this DAY DAY UP” because of Yibo and I am really thankful for english subtitle since there’s is not much but sometime, we can’t even read the subtitle because it’s going too fast and it disappears in a second. Secondly, I like to watch a lot of episodes in same day but the video said “sorry, the video failed to play “and doesn’t work anymore . I have tried installing again and again but the video won’t play no more. Pls help

This is the worst app out there for Asian content. Not in the least bit user friendly. I had to pay twice for VIP. Why? Still can not figure it out. Do not bother with customer service, there is none. Maybe one has to have a vip memebership for every device? Makes no sense and when I try to login with email and password still nothing. Apple should not even allow MangoTV on their platform because of all the issues.

I love the variety of shows MangoTV has to offer. I originally downloaded it to watch “Happy Camp” but stumbled across many other entertaining dramas in addition. Many of the shows now have subtitles which is helpful for those who aren’t fluent in Chinese (like me). Another plus is the fact that there aren’t many ads at all even for full length episodes.

Despite what I see are real concerns about the subtitles flashing by too quickly, I’d still like to give Mango a chance but can’t figure out how to create a way to sign in and give them my money! There are multiple ways to sign in once you have a method and password, but how to get there? I am a member of several Asian streaming services and never had this problem before. All of my attempts at Mango have been rejected, including the Facebook sign-in. I guess it’s not meant to be, sigh.

Don’t recommend paying for VIP if you are looking for eng subbed shows. I paid for 3 months thinking it was a good app to watch since there were several shows I wanted to watch.

The subs aren’t timed properly. They either disappear too quickly or the timing is completely off making it difficult to watch.

Another issue is if you leave MangoTV and come back the subs will disappear and you will need to manually turn off subs and turn it back on in order for them to appear again.

Overall, the ease of using MangoTV is quite easy, however many developer issues with subs that still need to be fixed.

I recommend Iqiyi as it’s a much more enjoyable experience compared to this app.

In the recent app updates, the casting experience with Chromecast is broken. It used to work well and was the favorite thing I enjoy with MangoTV since I can cast the experience to TV. Now when clicking the TV button to Chromecast, it starts to initiate and the TV looks like is preparing, but after a few seconds it becomes blackscreen and failed. Please help!

MangoTV is wonderful but lacking subtitles which create a bad experience for users who are not fluent in Chinese. Since MangoTV is universal, there are people in other countries that want to use MangoTV but unable to enjoy it. Even if the developer can’t create subtitles in many languages, but they should at least have subtitle in English since that is being used around the world.

I purchased for one year subscription ( I was desperate for Asia dramas 😂), to my surprise you can hardly see a drama with English subtitles, I will not advice anyone to pay for the subscriptions because it does not make a difference

I can’t open the 弹幕 on mango tv on my iphone is there a way to see it. I usually like watching it with it on but I can’t even find help online either. My rate will rate a 5 but I just get frustrated when I can’t find something.

I downloaded MangoTV and purchased membership. When I try to login the site using the computer it kept saying my login isn’t recognized. But that’s my login I created when signing in MangoTV ! So I try to use MangoTV and use the scan function, it said can’t connect to the internet! But I have no problem use MangoTV or search the web on my computer. This is extremely frustrated!

I love the shows on mgtv app i even subscribed for a couple of months but sadly on the mgtv app for tv isn’t and if i cast from my ipad video streams perfectly but the subtitles doesnt appear. I wished they develop MangoTV for smart tvs and the ios app to stream subtitles or hardsub the subtitles not cc the subtitles instead so it will cast nicely. Thank you.

They could do better on posting English Subtitles on their dramas. I’m a paid customer of MangoTV hoping to see the most current dramas with English Subtitles but that is not the case. I hope that they fix this problem soon. I tried to leave a comment on their site but it’s not posting.

The title says it all. The subs are so badly timed that sometimes you can’t even read the first word of the sentence before they’re gone. Plus I can’t even get them to show up on the tv no matter which way I try. I have an Apple device. Glad I didn’t pay before I tried it. I would have resented the waste of money.

There should be a version compatible for iPad. You lost a lot of fun if you can’t watch the shows on a larger screen device. I almost never watch shows on my iPhone. Also, I agree with the other users that region restriction is very annoying considering it’s an international app.

I think everyone’s asked about English subs. I’m just hoping the VIP extras get subbed too. I’ve loved Back to Field since Season 1. And I finally caved this year and subscribed for MangoTV . I’m glad I did, but I noticed that the VIP extra from the show are not subbed. I hope this changes. I also love Day Day Up and Happy Camp. I do hope this changes.

For me personally, I’m happy with how it works for me. It’s not all that confusing but it just frustrates me how when I choose English subtitles, it tells me they “failed to load” and your help/support page isn’t that great either. I wish you would have a list of questions and answers.

I purchased VIP to watch “I don’t want to be friends with you” with English subtitles, but the translations are not timed? Sometimes they don’t even make sense. Are you guys using google translate? MangoTV is great and all, but you need to give people what they paid for.

We need subtitle not everyone understand or read Chinese only reason I give a 4/5 if subtitles was updated would’ve gotten 5/5 so please Need subtitle

even when you upgrade to VIP not all the shows have subtitles. A little bit frustrating paying for the VIP experience without the subtitle. For the shows with subtitles, is there a way to slow down the subtitles?

Love MangoTV but hate it at same time, since when I use iPad to open it the user interface looks weird, and function weirdly too.

Great content but unfortunately the user interface is very confusing, I don’t even know where the full shows are. And they don’t support english title and subtitle for a international app. It is also laggy to stream in New York, east cost
