What an awesome idea and beautifully designed app. My previous review left me a little confused with ongoing notifications but the developer responded quickly. I’ll definitely be using BerkananMessenger a lot with family members. Hopefully the software can be updated to enhance notifications so that once a private conversation has started you can receive ongoing notifications while blocking private messages after the first message.

Edit: Fast response from developer. The issue was corrected by enabling the correct settings per feedback. I don’t really need the premium features, but love the quick feedback and apso I chip in for it.

This is the absolute perfect app for bluetooth messaging!! I would definitely recommend this to basically anyone! This will come in handy for times without a stable connection. One suggestion though, add groups. Someone in the group can invite another person, other people can't see it at all. Would be super useful. Thanks!

Yes this a great app and perfect for when you have no coverage. However I cannot get the phone call option to work. When I select another user and click the phone call icon it rings once and hangs up before the person has a chance to answer it. Also even though I have all notifications turned on it only seems to badge BerkananMessenger for a new message instead of displaying as a persistent notification on the screen like iMessage would. I have persistent notifications turned on for Berkanan. Otherwise 5 star.

I would LOVE to see a group messaging option. I am planning on going on a cruise and our family would like a way to talk to each other without paying the $13/ WiFi on the boat. We are going to try BerkananMessenger as it seems to work the best, but if there was a group option, it would be 5 stars. I’d even pay for it if it worked with a selectable group.

Edit: I am hoping to be able to make my own group. A private one with multiple people. I’m sure other people on a cruise ship will have BerkananMessenger, so I don’t want everything to be public.

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love BerkananMessenger, and a bunch of friends and I have use this on an airplane, to communicate midflight. Saved us some money on having a buy Wi-Fi to text each other.

The only weird thing that I really hope they fix, it seems like the conversation bubbles are reversed. New messages go on top as a post to bottom in conversation threads, which is really confusing and goes against generally all other messenger apps. Please fix this!!

I love BerkananMessenger, it truly is a wonderful thing to have. I love the look of it the way you use it and pretty much everything else. Though I would really appreciate it if I could change my user name. Right now it is set to [Name]’s iPhone and I would really like to change it to my first and last name. Even if I could only change it once and never again, I would still be happy.

It is fairly easy to use, doesn’t have a lot of ads, and is free, but it seems almost pointless. It won’t work from far away, so I can just yell to my friend and it would be simpler than using BerkananMessenger. I understand the whole emergency thing, but I feel as if it at least needs more features. I would however recommend it to anyone who perhaps lives in a busy house or party where there is no WiFi and needs to text a certain someone. But for me, it isn’t that helpful.

This is honestly one of the best ideas I've seen. Especially in cases of emergencies. Every phone should have this feature and I hope more fine out about this AMAZING app. My family got it and we tested it and it's worked great! I also love it is not centralized and encrypted so it's very private! For now, I bought the profile editor to support the developer!

Great little program. Phone receiver icon does not place call when I click on it. Do phone calls only work ‘to’ premium subscribers??? If not, I’m overlooking a setting.

This messenger is amazing for people who work on cruise ships

I would love some features though:

A group chat, so even if they’re not in range, once they are they get the message!!! A group chat is so handy.

And a way to favorite someone. So they either come up at the top of the screen when they’re in range, or they have a star on them so you can find the people you talk to the most easily.

Also: I’ve purchased BerkananMessenger .... but it still won’t let me edit my profile. It just keeps making me buy it over and over again, says I already have it downloaded, and then still won’t let me edit my profile.

I used to use FireChat until they updated and this is worlds better. I work in a place with no signal so this helps my team talk to each other. Brilliant and easy to use

So, if I want to pass a message to my first pal, he has to be within 230ft from me. If I want to pass a message to my second pal via my first pal, that pal has to be within 230ft of pal 1. So its 460ft from me to pal 2. Why not yell or wave? I get the emergency thing but everyone isn’t that close together. Just scratching my head about the practicality of it.

I really love it. It got native iOS-theme UI, fast and snappy device detection, simple messaging with *bluetooth calling*. I was really looking for this kind of app on iOS! Thanks for providing awesome app.

Works amazingly! BerkananMessenger should be baked into all phones by default!! My wife and son have it on their phone too.

I love the innovation of the future and this is just that. Could you guys at Berkanan send me another email I accidentally deleted it.

Finally, a good Bluetooth chatting app.

If you only use this for text, it should be fine (at short distances, of course). But even at VERY short distances the audio quality is unusable.

I am using iPhone XS Max and the call button is grey so I can’t click on it. But i can call my phone from my ipad.

I was at the protests and the cops jammed the cell towers. Thank god I had already thought of that and I was able to get in contact with my friends and get out of there. If I didn’t have BerkananMessenger I would be in the back of a cop car
