Works as well as I anticipated

I was surprised to see all of the negative reviews! I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and we haven’t had any real issues with VTechKidiConnect . It’s made by v-tech (as opposed to apple or google) so we weren’t expecting that level of technical ability with VTechKidiConnect (no offense!). Daughter is able to send and receive messages. I was able to easily add my sister to VTechKidiConnect so daughter could connect with her Auntie & it’s been working great. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it’s a little slow in receiving/sending and I have to exit the chat and re-enter to see a new message instead of having the new message appear in the chat I’m in. Also, I’m not able to communicate with contacts added to daughter’s phone unless I add that person to “our family” but we wanted the group “ our family” to just be mom, dad and daughter. Also, one thing to suggest for others, when you sign up, set it up so that it automatically signs you in. I’ve noticed I have gotten kicked out a couple of times but it just automatically signs me in again. Overall, we are very pleased with VTechKidiConnect .

App is unusable, returning Vtech Kidibuzz to store

It’s literally impossible to sign up for an account for VTechKidiConnect. Making the “messaging” feature of the Kidibuzz phone useless. After struggling forever to try and setup an account password (yes I met all their guidelines of lowercase, capital, and numbers. I finally got it to go through, just to tell me it could not let me log in and I’d have to reset my password. Tried using their “reset password” link and it never sent me an email to reset the password. It’s impossible for me to setup, and I was hoping I could get the grand parents on. If I can’t do it, they certainly won’t be able to. Luckily, I’m trying all this before actually giving the new unopened device to my daughter. So I’ll save her the heartache and return it to the store without her even seeing it. Save her the disappointment and me the headache. Vtech, get on the ball, read the comments and fix your issues.

Functional and Security Flaws - Beware of your child’s safety

VTechKidiConnect has both functional and security issues. In attempting to login to VTechKidiConnect , VTechKidiConnect status wheel just spins and then after several minutes fails. This happened on multiple iPhones of different generations.

Strangely, even though VTechKidiConnect failed to log me in, whenever my child sent a message from the vtech kids phone to ‘parent’ I received iOS notifications that a message from the named child had been received. Yet, when clicking on the banner notification it takes me to the login, which of course, continues to fail. We submitted a ticket to support, and their response was “we do not have troubleshooting for this type of issue at this time”.

We purchased two of the vtech kids phones at ~$80 ea. and this is the support we received. I’m normally not the type to publicly express my opinion, but I want to make sure others don’t have to go through this frustration.

VTech Kidibuzz

Let me just say that this is the biggest disappointment for not only me as a parent but for my six year old that thought she was getting a phone to be able to text me. I wouldn’t even give VTechKidiConnect or this product one star but I had to choose an option.

Why is Vtech robbing people of their money with a phone that requires VTechKidiConnect to text with the phone THAT DOESN'T EVEN WORK!!! I am so MAD! I’m having the exact same problem as so many of the other complaints here, can’t get logged in. Created a login but the wheel keeps spinning and no resolution. Tried to create a new account but can’t get past the security box, just keeps resetting. So FRUSTRATING!!! Vtech is literally robbing people of their money by selling this product that requires an app that is clearly not functioning. Get it TOGETHER VTECH!!!! Not a happy customer!!!! Very DISAPPOINTING!!!

Terrible Application

I purchased three of the kiddibuzz devices @ $90 a clip. Too many functional issues with this application . The device is way too expensive for the application to fail. It’s hit or miss . It works sometimes but most often it does not work. It frustrates the child and older adults especially grandparents. The device itself is a great idea but when the application doesn’t work, that’s disgusting. When trying to use the kiddie connect app, 3 out of 4 Times it doesn’t work, either an error message appears or a message that your login failed. Shame on you VTech for charging a ginormous price that works with only one app that doesn’t work 75% of the time! I would not recommend anyone to purchase the kidibuzz phone until the application is fixed.

Never consistent!

My daughter uses this to communicate with her father who’s in the military and it is her only way of constant contact with him. The first day she got it, it worked like a charm and I’ve never seen her so happy to finally be able to send and receive messages and cute photos and voice messages with her father. That lasted about two days and now it will work maybe once in a blue moon. Some days she’ll be able to send stuff but not receive. Other days she won’t be able to do anything and we’ll have to delete it and reload it. I’ve never seen her so devastated thinking it’s because her daddy doesn’t love her anymore. Shame on this company for getting the hopes of children up with a product and using such a horribly inefficient platform. Fix it now!

Makes me sad

I was finally able to connect with my nieces using this, and now for the past few weeks, maybe even a month now, it just keeps crashing. It won’t open and won’t work at all and I can’t message with my nieces. This makes me sad, because I was really looking forward to having a way to communicate with them directly and this does not work on my phone as well as on their devices.

To the people who created this, PLEASE fix these issues. I check everyday to see if VTechKidiConnect will open and it just keeps crashing. People spend good money on this product and for it to not even work is a huge disappointment. Please do something to address these issues.

Connectivity & Application Issues

I have registered and paid $0.50 for my child’s KidiConnect and have also downloaded VTechKidiConnect for my iPhone 8+. As I attempted to also create a messaging User ID as a parent for the same account as my child, an error occurred. The idea that a my child is able to text me or contact me with an app of this sort without have the financial burden of a brand new regular cell phone & plan is commendable, however, If you are going to offer this product, then you should at least have support for it. That is extremely bad business. The 3 stars is for the idea ONLY! It would be one for the service & issues.

Can no longer use the app?

I bought this for my daughter who badly wanted the idea of having her “own phone” it was complicated to set up. Having everyone who wanted to message her download an app (that no longer works and is “under maintenance” not even 24 hours later is a hassle. The “phone” itself is a pain to learn about I’m a wizard when it comes to technology but this is complicated and has way to many side apps just to get to one app. The idea of the games on the phone and leap frog is a great way of learning but if I wanted a tablet I could have simply bought one. I loved this idea but it’s complicated and now I can no longer message my child due to “maintenance” what’s the point?

VTechKidiConnect really misses the mark. First of all, it hasn’t even been optimized to the X, and we’re over a year here. The biggest issue is that my messages from my child won’t come through. The whole reason we bought this for our daughter, is because we both work off schedules and it has the tendency to be hard on her. So she loves to send us little messages when we’re at work at and get responses from us. But for the last 4 days now, none of the messages have been loading for myself, my wife, or my child’s grandfather. The whole reason we purchased this, and it doesn’t work. It’s lazy programming, and reflective of vtech’s values and the lack of pride they put into their products. They just wanted my money, and they got it.

Horrible UI & Service, Can’t Even Log In

Got a new device for my son for Christmas. Opened it up and it required an update straight off. The update wouldn’t install so went back and forth with vtech support for several weeks until they sent me a thumb drive with the update on it. Once that installed, was able to get on device but the UI is horrible and had to call in for support again just to figure out how to add contacts. Now, me nor any other family member can log in to VTechKidiConnect via our mobile devices - it just keeps spinning and spinning and won’t allow anyone to log in. Vtech support says they can’t help. Do not buy! Very disappointed, not to mention how much time and money wasted on this.

Not wowed

This has happened on so many occasions that I’ve lost count. I got the kiddibuzz for my son with high hopes that it could provide an educational tool along with a safe social connection to his family throughout the country in an effort to bridge the gap between now and when he is old enough for a cell phone. I am so very disappointed with the connection issues. We have a dependable WiFi and no consistency with his device. In addition VTechKidiConnect is quite sparse with its reception and adequate connection to the device. I’ve been booted from my sign in yet again and am unable to sign back in OR reset a password. And there is no link to customer service to deal with the issue. I am beyond frustrated.

“Server down for maintenance”

First it started on the kidibuzz saying “server down for maintenance” now it won’t work on anyone’s phone. It’s been down for 2 days! How long does maintenance take!?!? I just got this for my son for Christmas it hasn’t even been a week and there’s so much trouble with it. 😭 if I could I’d give zero stars. Honestly people listen to the reviews here don’t make my mistake in thinking they probably fixed all the issues by now because they didn’t and I don’t think they will. Now I have one very disappointed and upset child and a useless phone that doesn’t serve the purpose it was intended for.

Barely Functional

VTechKidiConnect... serves it’s purpose in letting me communicate with my kids, but it’s VERY buggy.

Adding/Inviting other adults is very confusing and doesn’t make sense. I told the other adults which app to download and gave them my family email address so they could join “the family”. Then I had to invite them AGAIN through VTechKidiConnect so they could send private messages to my kids.

There also doesn’t seem to be any controls to REMOVE adults from “the family”... which is a huge safety risk. If someone in “the family” starts sending my kids bad messages, i’ll just have to take their KidiBuzz phones away, which isn’t fair to them!

Most of the emojis don’t work. The picture quality is awful and they can’t be rotated. The voice messages are limited to just 10 seconds, which is really short. The response time for everything seems very slow. And then there’s times where VTechKidiConnect will just randomly crash and shut down on its own!

ZERO stars

This is by far the worst app I have ever used. I bought a VTech KidiZoom for my daughter. I liked the idea of her being able to text my husband and I from a kid friendly phone. Since VTech is such a large company, I anticipated a decent messaging app. I could not have been more wrong. When VTechKidiConnect actually works it’s perfect for younger kids. But it RARELY works. There’s always error messages... it just says loading for an eternity and nothing happens. You’ll die of old age before this piece of garbage loads. Whoever designed VTechKidiConnect needs to be beat with a stick and then fired... not even close VTech...

Servers go down for DAYS

We purchased the vtech kid phones just so my kids could message us. Here are the issues we have experienced in the past 10 days using VTechKidiConnect with the vtech phones and our iPhones.

1. VTechKidiConnect kept showing a loading spinning sign that took hours before we could sign up
2. I will send messages to my daughters phone and she doesn’t always get them. (Yes we are connected to WiFi so it isn’t user error)
3. The servers were down for 4 days- no communication from VTechKidiConnect service- it would have been at least decent customer service if we would have received an email share they were going to be down or would be back up in x amount of days. After googling the issue it looks like they go down for weeks at a time.
4. Now my daughter can send messages but on the other end on our phone we just have the spinning thing and can not see her message.

Horrible!!!!!

I totally thought I had a great idea to avoid getting my 9 and 7 year olds a real phone- it was great for the one month VTechKidiConnect worked and they were able to text us. Both my husband and I can no longer access VTechKidiConnect because an error message keeps popping up. A huge waste of $160 for the two devices. Huge disappointment VTech! I expected better, Shame on me. I’m officially done with VTech and I’ll never purchase any more VTech items. I have two very upset kids, as they loved to be able to text us and felt like “grown ups” was it’s their phones. Way too good to be true, I should’ve known better.

Waste of time

Over half of the messages my daughter sends to me or other family members are not received. We all get notifications that we have a message, open our app- then NOTHING. She’s frustrated, we are all frustrated. This is supposed to be family-friendly. It has been an absolute struggle. I wish it worked because the idea is so cute. The 1/5 times it works she loves it. She has to read over my shoulder and cross her fingers that her little texts go through. Such a shame. Looks like it has been an issue for over a year from these reviews and still hasn’t been fixed. Bad business.

FIX THIS CRAP

We just spent $80 on your device and our primary reason was so our little one can communicate with us when one of us is out, and we can include her in family messages. The device works great but FIX THIS STUPID APP! It’s the primary reason we purchased your device and we can’t receive her messages even though we get a notification that she sent something! I’m reading the other reviews seeing basically everyone has had this problem. There’s no reason you can design a product as good as the one we got her and not program VTechKidiConnect to function as a basic messenger!!! FIX IT!!!!

CHRISTMAS RUINED FOR MY DAUGHTER

Bought this item because my we wanted to give our daughter the closest thing to a phone. This was supposedly a safe “phone” came to find out it is because it cant even be used. Had to reset password after password only to have phone say that the password is invalid. Cant add any members even though it says added. Their texts do not arrive to my childs phone. Not to mention you can only add people via email and not by phone number. PARENTS SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE OF DISAPPOINTMENT AND BUY YOUR CHILD A NEW PHONE AND SET UP PARENTAL CONTROLS ON THEM. THIS PRODUCTS ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. NOT TO MENTION A DISAPPOINTED CHILD. WOULDN'T GIVE IT A SINGLE STAR BUT I HAVE TO SO THAT I CAN WRITE A REVIEW

Poor Performance

My daughter got a kidibuzz for Christmas thinking she was going to be able to text and communicate with mom and dad. To our disappointment this is only possible after adult registration of the device for $.50 (rude) and downloading VTechKidiConnect , not to mention the requirement for multiple adults to download VTechKidiConnect to at minimum send painted pictures back and forth. No but 1 week later VTechKidiConnect totally crashed right before my husband left town, completely defeating the purpose of having a “cell phone” for a 6 yr old. Disappointed to say the least!

Works but it seems dated

First and foremost you have to update the Kidizoom hardware itself or you’ll be extremely frustrated. It only updates when it’s fully charged so open it up and plug in right away and do the update when fully charged. Plan half a day for this process. I hope the developers keep updating because it seems limited and dated as far as functionality. I’d like to see more stickers and emojis in the future.

I could never get into the app to send or receive messages after I set it up to stay in touch with my neighbor's daughter, for whom I babysit. I constantly got locked out, would change the password, get the message it didn't match, get locked out, etc. I tried to find and connect with tech support to no avail. I would get menus that wanted product info. Perhaps it just doesn't work on Androids? .

I am extremely frustrated and at the end of my rope with the kiddiconnect app. I bought two KiddiBuzz G2's and my boys were super excited to be able to text with my husband and I however it is SO incredibly glitchy it works only once in awhile. The KidiConnect app on the KidiBuzz will not work anymore, it keeps saying "you are locked, ask an adult for help" yet when you attempt to connect it, it defaults back to the home page. It hasn't worked for the last week. Please fix this app!!!!!!!!!

I’ve had 8 notifications of drawings & stickers today but I haven’t been able to log in. Had a response from one of your customer service people yesterday saying it’s busy at this time of year, try again! That reply added to my annoyance. On the phone I was advised to reset/ done that & it’s made no difference. A disappointed 4 year old & an angry grandmother who feels she’s wasted her money.

It’s January 7, 2021 and I just set up kidiconnect on my daughter’s brand new kidibuzz g2. Unfortunately the app is just a spinning circle. Worst birthday gift ever. I’m trashing the kidibuzz g2 and will get my daughter a cheap but dependable cell phone.

OK, enough is enough now Vtech. Your customer service number just rings and rings and your ‘contact us’ email comes back mail undelivered. What the hell is going on??? There are now numerous complaints about this and literally nothing is being done about it. I think I’ll take this defective product back to the store and just buy my daughter a cheap phone (which I can get for less than £90!) and just adjust the parental controls and browsing capabilities. Very very disappointed with this inferior product. These issues go back all the way to 2018. There has clearly been ongoing problems with this gadget. Trading standards my next port of call.

Very disappointed with this product only brought it so my 6 old daughter could safely stay in contact with family. However are a couple of days she can no longer send messages as the server is currently unavailable due to maintenance. UNAVAILABLE FOR 5 DAYS now this is rediculous. This is the second vtec product we have brought and been disappointed with from now on I'll be staying clear of this rubbish company

Hi, My daughter got the Kidicom kidiconnect for her Christmas and the app worked well for the first few days but the last 3 days every time she tries to send a message she get the same error message - “The server is unavailable due to maintenance, please try again later” How long is this due to last or is there a problem with her device? Her friend’s one seems to be working still. Disappointing for her as it’s still so new. Claire

KidiConnect not working on multiple devices due to “server maintenance” please correct this issue, this is just creating more sadness for these kids during this crazy time. It’s been down for 4 days now! We can’t be with my child’s grandparents because of Covid so this was giving them a special thing just between them to connect and now it’s been crapped on.

Hsny worked In a week wouldt work saying error 99 for few days now says maintenance being done to system. Keep getting a message that says “Sorry! We are experiencing technical difficulties with our servers. We are working to resolve as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused”. It’s already been three days. My daughter got this for Christmas and has barely been able to use it.

I’m sure the company misjudged the need of the size of the server and isn’t big enough to hold as many customers as you now have after Christmas, but can Vtech make some kind of announcement about when it will work again? Rather a cruel time to update maintenance as obviously know these phones have been bought as presents! Please let everyone know when they will be able to work again, so we actually get what we paid for! Some very disappointed children out there!

App down! I repeat, App down! Seriously? A few days after Christmas and Vtech decide to carry out maintenance (currently into day 2). I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she was loving it for the first few days. Now she thinks it’s rubbish and I tend to agree. Reading the reviews is something I wish I’d done prior to purchasing. Had I done so, I certainly would not have bought this product. Highly detective!!!

We just opened this phone for Christmas and the app on the toy phone just spins a green circle. It won’t load. Any suggestions? I paid $90 for this toy so she could send messages and it doesn’t work. The app on my phone works fine, but hers will not load. I paid the $0.50 to unlock, everything is setup. It just won’t load.
