for the 4+ time in 3 weeks, my device is offline for no reason.
also, the control layout of ToshibaACNA is HORRIBLE. why can you not tap the large “off” to turn it on? WHY ARE HALF THE CONTROLS HIDDEN WHEN THERE IS EMPTY SPACE? every time I turn it on, I have to expand the controls to turn off eco mode. the AC fan cycling on and off wakes me up. (the AC is super loud, that isn’t the apps fault though.)

and the sleep curve? instead of a fancy temperature algorithm, i would prefer to be able to change the default control settings. it saves the last used temperature- why doesn’t it save the last used mode?

Toshiba app does not work, and after contacting customer support, they wasted another hour of my time. They couldn’t get me off the phone fast enough. Then they advised me to download another app called Midea Air which did not work either. They advised me this is something common that is occurring in their app and they haven’t yet fixed it. Both apps are just over a two rating a 2.0 rating and appear to be non-operative. Don’t bother calling Toshiba support because they don’t know what they’re doing either. Go buy a different product that works.

Hard to tell which ones more irritating… an AC unit that’s not even able to adequately cool down my tiny room I’m renting (roughly 100sqft if that) (I bought the 10,000BTU unit) or this plain generic app that has nothing worth while on the features… same as remote… maybe install an over ride of sort to the machine that I set at the lowest 62, but turns itself off at 68-69 according to my in room thermometer… which I’ll trust 100 times over this machine… needless to say I’m taking this piece of crap back to Home Depot and never buying Toshiba again. This is beyond irritating.

UPDATE: during the set up to WiFi process, it tells you to hold the connect button for 3 seconds. Then it shows AP blinking and in ToshibaACNA you see that it connects to phone and connects to WiFi/ to ToshibaACNA , but the last loading step, I think it’s connecting ToshibaACNA to the WiFi or something it loads to 100% and then says could not configure and to try again, and during all of that, the AP turns off. Basically when it loads the 3 step things hold down the connect button until it’s over. It won’t seem like it’s doing anything but it helped and worked for me! It seems like the issue is that during the last loading step, it cannot finish connect because the connect to WiFi/AP blinking turns off therefore the connection gets disrupted

Old review: Connects to phone and WiFi but in the end fails to connect set up. I can’t even add the AC to ToshibaACNA to use. So annoying.

Pros:
It seems to work well enough once you learn the quirks.

Cons:
Every time I open/switch back to ToshibaACNA I either get sent to the listing page of all my devices or I get an error message saying their was a connection problem, then seconds later the message goes away and I can control the AC.

ToshibaACNA needs to be smarter about the connection state and perhaps wait a little for the connection to establish rather than constantly using a blanket error message. It's more convenient to use the remote with these error messages.

Also the UI needlessly hides the ECO and LED modes and selecting an exact temperature is annoying using a slider. The plus/minus control is better but hidden until you show the ECO/LED modes. Just show them all so I don't have to constantly expand those options or remember the state it was in last.

It's obvious the developers/product managers don't actually use this project themselves or they would fix these glaring issues.

Firstly ToshibaACNA runs smoothly with me, everything works how it should but there's one thing I feel should be fixed or even tweaked. When you turn the ac from a scheduled time or through ToshibaACNA , it automatically sets to Celsius, so if you don't know Celsius to Fahrenheit you have to go to ToshibaACNA to switch it every time. So other than that, ToshibaACNA is perfect..for me at least

If you have apple products, your connections get stored, and other devices connect when prompted. If you’re trying to set up, you need to disable WiFi from other products, since the unit can’t handle several devices connecting to it. Took me forever to figure out why I couldn’t connect and continue configuration.

I am happy with the AC unit purchase, I like the way it looks and it does what it’s supposed to. I wanted this particular unit for Wifi connectivity and ToshibaACNA seems to work at first, but it would continue to lose its connection randomly (might be after a day, or a full week)- receiving an error message about device offline when I’d try to use ToshibaACNA . Out of frustration, after this happened a few times, I reinstalled ToshibaACNA , reconnected the unit and kept the default name (did not rename). It’s been 2 months since I’ve kept those Default Name settings and it works perfectly. Hope that helps anyone else with same problem.

I have tried to get ToshibaACNA to work for years.

I have used many different phones. Solutions online. Different Wi-Fi’s. Nothing worked.

I downloaded it again, thinking it’s been awhile and I want to try again. Who knows if something has changed… IT WORKED FIRST TRY!

No connectivity issues! On my drive home I can preset the AC to turn on when I’m getting close to home. Adjust temps, speed, or even just view current room temperature.

I give ToshibaACNA 4 starts because it’s initial difficult non-working status with limited support.
Now with working capabilities fully restored, I think it’s worth 4/5 stars.

Bought this unit two months ago, and was beyond frustrated to find out it wasn’t connecting no matter what methods I tried. I felt like I was ripped, having paid extra for “smart” features but only being able to use it manually.

After the most recent update, it seems like they have addressed the number one concern, by getting it to finally connect and I have since been able to schedule my AC, and completely control it no matter how far I am from home. It also allows me to unlock other features I wasn’t even aware of since I wasn’t able to ever access them, such as current temperature monitoring, as well as changing between Celsius/Fahrenheit.

Only suggestions would be to fix the error where it defaults to Celsius when using ToshibaACNA , and maybe allow a power off schedule to go along with power on. Other than that I am now completely satisfied with how it is working for me and my household!

I love that I can turn my AC on with ToshibaACNA . It was so easy to set up. I work 30 minutes from home (which is in another state) so as soon as I get in my car I can turn the AC on. By the time I get home it’s nice and cool. I just don’t get one thing. Why do I have to agree every time I open ToshibaACNA ? It’s not a nuisance. Just wondering why.

Ok guys I don’t really write reviews but I felt like I needed to in order to help others. I also kept getting error “4042” all the times!!! So what I did was take the filter cover off and unplug the “smart kit” USB WiFi dongle(located on the left side) for like 30 seconds while the AC was running and re-plugged it flush into the usb wire. After that ToshibaACNA seem to be working prefect and no issues so far. Good luck guys!

Took a whole 2 minutes to set it up. I read some earlier reviews that suggested it might be a hassle but no. Maybe they’ve fixed the bug but like I said, maybe a total of 4 minutes to download, register, and use.

I am very pleased with the performance and how quiet the ac is I haven’t had it long so quality is still yet to prove itself. Nice looking unit and the smart system adds friendliness to the relationship. However ToshibaACNA likes to flash the balloon say the command prompt didn’t register and yet it did. Now just to remember to register this thing.

I am beyond pleased with the Toshiba ac AND app. It is September and I purchased the unit in April and downloaded ToshibaACNA . ToshibaACNA has performed flawlessly for me, so easy to use… it is uncomplicated and delivers. Hasn’t had a glitch. Priceless to be able to adjust the settings from across the house. If I’m running out the door but wanted to lower fan or raise the temp setting.. no need to run all the way back in… I can set it from my car. Tells me when to clean filter. Well done!

8/8/18. ToshibaACNA has never worked flawlessly, but I was able to set it up and get it going. Occasionally there were app crashes and errors but overall it worked and could remotely control my ac from anywhere.

The latest app update introduced new error codes that have persisted. After deleting and re syncing the ac I was able to get connected to the ac again. The new layout is nice, but I constantly get errors saying to “error 4042, control failed, please try again”. Or “cannot connect to ac”. As of now I cannot control anything.

This is something that needs to “just work”. Pretty poor app and overall implementation.

If this is ever fixed, I will update my review.

Update: summer 2019:

Looks like there were lots of updates since last year. Re setting it up on my wife and my phone was super easy. Love the new scheduling feature.

I can’t get ToshibaACNA to let someone else also have access to AC through ToshibaACNA. After I accept for him to get control of the AC in their phone it gets stuck on “The request has been submitted, please wait for the owner to agree” and then nothing happens but forever be stuck in that message. Please fix the issue and I will give 5 stars.

Update:

After a while now my father was able to connect to the AC remotely through his phone. If you guys updated anything thank you. If not I still say look into it so the transition can go smoothly for others. Please and thank you.

I see some other people have had issues but I have had this unit for a year going on my second summer. I have had no issues. Set up was easy. I followed the instruction and I got it all connected with my phone on the first try. Sometimes when you try to connect to the unit it will give an error message that the unit is offline but I usually have to wait no more than 30-45 seconds and it will automatically refresh and connect. Maybe the unit is coming out of “sleep mode”?? Lol. I love that I can turn it on when I get in the car to leave for work so my condo is cooled by the time I get home (about a 30-40 min drive).

App is easily accessible and user friendly. Very simple to set up, just follow the instructions. Make sure you have your WiFi password handy whenever you’re setting it up. Sounds like the issue a lot of ppl are having is because you only have 8 minutes to set it up after you power on. But if you mess up just power off and power back on and try again.

I don’t know why people are having so many problems with ToshibaACNA. I love it. I can turn the ac on and off and set the thermostat from my phone easily. My ac is only like 2 weeks old though but ToshibaACNA deserves 5 stars for now. Have had 0 issues and I’m constantly running this ac.
