You get Emma , and while signing up, they ask for your banking info. You share your info and then once they’re tapped in to your bank, suddenly they force you to pick an app subscription option. Are you guys serious?? I lost all interest at that point bc the subscription should be in the first part of sign-up. After picking the 7-day trial after which $5.99 a month is pulled from my bank account option just to get past that screen in order to to delete my bank info, I then went to my settings and asked for my account to be deleted, then went into my Apple account and ended my subscription, then went into my iPhone storage and deleted Emma . BUT the subscription is still showing up in the “active subscriptions” sections of my Apple account. If Emma STILL charges me in 7 days, I stg... y’all are untrustworthy as h3ll smh

I tried to connect my this app account to Chase Bank, the world’s largest bank, and it would not work. I requested support and they said they would check into it. I spent over a week waiting and had to reach out to them first for an update, which they did not have. They did not even send a check in email to let me know they were still working on it.

In addition, they have no online website and you can only do everything in Emma .

Would not recommend. Terminated my relationship with them.

It does what it’s suppose to do well, but today they bugged me. I use Emma to track finances, not for nonsense. They asked me if I know Pokemon, but called them Pokemons, so I was interested in what type of questions they were asking about “pokemons” lol. The quiz asked me some of the most basic questions of the franchise, but after you answer you have to wait. In my disbelief, I went to text my friend about how ridiculous it was, but it turned out the quiz continued without me and by the time I came back I had missed a question, so I exited and failed. Obviously none of this matters, but it was annoying and extremely unnecessary to be apart of the this app app. I hope there are no more “quizzes”. It doesn’t really make sense for someone to win money anyways. Especially from a helpful app. It kind of makes it seem like they feel that they to entice us to keep us using Emma.

Emma itself is very nice, but not being able to link a credit card (like in similar apps) tends to ruin everything for me since all my transactions occur on credit cards. You can add a “manual card” but then you have to include all the transactions yourself and then Emma is more of a chore then a helpful tool. Will not being using Emma until ability to link credit cards is available.

So Emma functionality is pretty good and syncing works well, however, if you want to add transactions manually, you have to click into checking, then click into the account, and then add a transaction. I spoke with support about this and suggested they add a floating button on the feed screen for this purpose. What did they do? Instead of adding a floating button to add transactions- they added a floating button to refer people to their app. They also have a banner in the feed, as well as other buttons. I get that they want to promote their app, but this seems to be their main goal, rather than actual good UX design and better functionality of their app. Also- I feel like you could let me know about it once and tuck it away. My finances are more important to me than promoting your app. I'm all for referring people to an app I love, but now I'm just annoyed and irritated that I paid for a subscription.

I got Emma for the first week when the free trial was available and I can firmly say it got me hooked! Really good concept of money management and much better than others I tried, (there were a lot).

Good price and I bought a year of premium after the trial ended. There are basic features like connecting your bank that I like that is good for accurately tracking your money which is great and all, but I wish Emma had more content and features for their premium subscribers. Nonetheless great app!

This is the first finance app I can honestly say I LOVE. Why? Its beautiful simplicity. I’ve tried ALL the personal finance apps out there. They all have way more features, more power, more knobs and levers... more crap you don’t need that distract from what is critically important... spending below your means. Am I on track for this pay period? Yes/no? If no, why? this app does this perfectly. Paired with a beautiful UX that is easy to use... couldn’t be happier.

Their biggest problem is Pro... why spend money on getting all the crap you don’t need, when the lack of which makes your app so compelling? My advice to this app... stop trying to “me too” build all the features the big dogs have. Focus on the everyday guy/gal who is living paycheck to paycheck. Rollover money when I don’t spend it all, or borrowing from the next pay period to find some extra money today. History of budgeting success. Am I getting better or worse at managing my money, etc. Make those Pro features... I’d gladly pay for those because they meet me where I’m at.

I never write app reviews, but this app is seriously the best finance app I’ve ever used and I’ve tried them ALL. this app literally gives me every bit of information I need to organize my money. And the fact that it’s free is mind blowing. I can’t stop recommending it to everyone I know!

I’ve tried several budgeting apps (Clarity, Mint, PocketGuard, Albert, YNAB) but none gave me everything I was looking for. They either miscategorized too many transactions, were too confusing to navigate, had unsightly UI’s, couldn’t link to all my accounts, or were just too expensive. I was about to give up and just go with an Excel spreadsheet, but came across this app and figured... I’ll try just one more app. BINGO! this app gives me everything I want: it links to ALL my accounts-even the ones at smaller banks- with no hassles and lets me see where my money is going clearly. But my favorite feature of all is the customizable transaction categories! Fantastic! It makes a world of difference knowing EXACTLY what a transaction is! this app should get far more attention from blogs and articles listing best budgeting apps. IMHO it’s the best out there.

As a teen who just started working Emma is extremely helpful. I can lay out money to spend and to save and can keep track of my spending goals. Customer service is great. Thank you for your help this app

Soon after signing up, this app pulled up the last two years of my bill payments. It noticed my car insurance premiums had been increasing every six months....something I had missed. I started shopping insurance and realized I had been overpaying for some time.

This application has actually changed my spending habits in ways other apps haven’t. I’ve tried other financial planning methods before, but this one actually works for me. I will be continuing to use it for a long time and have seriously considered upgrading to premium.

This is a great app that smartly puts all of your account info in one place, and gives confidence that what you’re looking at is accurate and complete. It doesn’t get in the way by teaching methods to save, its a straightforward budgeting tool with a lot of power under the hood. This is what I’ve been looking for in a begetting app. The upgrade to the paid version is well worth it.

This a very awesome app. Im very happy with Emma that i got as this is finally an app that links to my bank accounts and shows ALL my transactions and it already put it in its own separate categories which i love because they are the correct categories to put the transactions in!! This will definitely be very helpful when i start work and have paydays and income to add to my account. This a really good app and highly recommended!! Love Emma.

***Developer-Can u please make it Apple Watch compatible in a future update? It would be helpful getting this app notifications on Apple Watch too. Thank you

This is really a great app. It so well put together and easy to navigate. Updating transactions in bulk are really nice. I have the pro version and I’m loving it for my family.

The subscription feature lets you know when a possible subscription is coming up and if it might overdraft your account. This happened to us and I deposited some money to help cover the subscription. Right there this app paid for its self!

I really wish there was an Email management app that worked the way this app did with its categorizing & auto tagging. ;)

Request:

Only thing that I’ve had an issue with is that it doesn’t always track overdraft fees correctly. There’s no way to tell the system that it’s an overdraft fee other than creating a custom category.

Hope to see better reports created in the future to help with taxes. An easily readable PDF instead of a CSV file would be nice. Currently having to import the CSV into a graphical interface to make them easier to file for the accountant.

As a recent user, I’m liking Emma and the functionality.

I hope there’s less focus on emojis and more on giving the concise yet useful info.

Few things I want:
- instead of balances on all accounts in daily notification, I want total increase / decrease based on daily transactions
- a notification every week / month describing the same
- an option to compare monthly spending with previous months
- Another issue is see is with how home rent payment is considered for a week and not for a month. So Emma tells me “you spent X amount 3 weeks back. Good job not spending on rent in the last two weeks 🤷🏽‍♂️

BIG QUESTION: I don’t know how my data is used. Since Emma is free, I was wondering who outside this app has access to data (aggregated), analytics, intelligence, insights for ads and other purposes. I thought of signing up for Pro, assuming it’d mean zero access to third parties. But I didn’t see anything on the privacy policy/ terms / FAQ sections on Emma / website.

I’ve spent lots of time and downloaded many, many budgeting apps looking for the right one.
When I downloaded this app, I instantly realized that I finally found the right app for me. Every day Emma will send a notification to my phone, stating how much money I have in my checking/savings. It will tell you how many days you have until payday, categorize your spending and give you a report on how much you’ve spent weekly and what it was for. There’s so many great things about Emma and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. It’s very user-friendly and of course, free!😋

Emma is great! I love the analytics it provides for your accounts and how it provides predictions for future payments. It’s really helped me track how much I’m spending in different categories, as well as, at different merchants.

The notifications from Emma are also very helpful. Most apps notifications are annoying and I end up turning them off. This one provides timely budget category updates, does a weekly report to show you how you’ve spent or saved money, etc.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that this is a young app and they are still updating and perfecting it. They’ve made tons of improvements in Emma since I’ve gotten it (a lot less error messages). Overall, I highly recommend Emma. Extremely helpful if you set it up and use it.

I’ve used them all...really. The competing apps out there just could not package everything I wanted. They were either way too granular or way too high level. this app finds that middle ground beautifully. I’ve got all my bank accounts, credit cards, car loan and mortgage, insurance and investment products loaded. That includes large and small firms (like my local credit union). Everything is there and works beautifully. I track my transactions, monitor subscription services, set budgets (using free version which has fixed amount of stuff, vs pro which offers flexibility), etc. The few issues I’ve had, I used the chat, connected with a real person (Joel rocks!), and seen my problems fade away. Really could not be happier, and really could not recommend Emma enough!!! Uninstall those others, and find this app!

I haven’t quite used it to it’s full capacity yet but so far I think it’s pretty good as a way to track everything you spend, set a budget, see your accounts, etc. my only question is could there be an update in the future possibly to track how much cash I have on me? I couldn’t find a section for that and as a waitress, I carry a decent amount of cash around in my wallet and spend it like that. I want to be able to add and keep track of cash expenses too. Other than that, I like it so far.
