Edit: I finally found a workaround on my own after contacting Philips as requested below in the developer’s response and being ignored. I keep being told the issue was caused by me using multiple phones but it started with a fresh install on the very first phone. It also kept occurring after several resets of the sleep light and a fresh install of SleepMapper . While the light is attempting to connect there is a small hyperlink that says “wrong password” near the bottom. Clicking it somehow stops the cycle and allows the light to connect. Obviously a glitch but just thankful I finally figured it out. The light was perilously close to being tossed in the trash before I found this workaround.
I use SleepMapper and also use Philips DreamMapper and both apps have been hugely frustrating from the start. DreamMapper can never connect to the backend server and I constantly lose access to my data. SleepMapper keeps insisting my phone and wake up light are connected to different networks after I add the wifi info to the wake up light (spoiler alert, they’re not). The only resolution is to completely reset the light and try again. I’ve done that at least a dozen times and tried different phones, different mobile OS’s, tablets, three different routers and I STILL get the same “different network” error. It’s so bad, I’m ready to begin avoiding any Philips products that depend on a companion app.

I just set up my light about 2 weeks ago and all was going great until tonight when SleepMapper will no longer open. The light seems to be fine, and has the wifi signal (Icon is not blinking and shows full bars) but when I try to open SleepMapper within about 3 seconds a window pops up that says “no internet connection”. My phone has internet and my light says it does too. I have tried turning my phone on and off, turning the wifi on and off on my phone and on the light, unplugging the light and replugging it in, and deleting and reinstalling SleepMapper. Nothing seems to help! Would love to know how to fix this as it just suddenly broke. Is it a bug or is it me?

Followed all troubleshooting steps and it still won’t connect with my iPhone. If it goes it only works for that night and I have follow the same steps all over again. I even bought a router for the 2.4 mghz. For a product this expensive, this is highly unacceptable. Providing the same template response to everyone with app connectivity issues is even worse. If The issue isn’t fixed I’m calling my bank to dispute the charge saying it’s a defective product. To have to follow all of these trouble shootings steps just to connect and set the alarm. That update should have been released YESTERDAY.

I have tried resetting my device, resetting my WiFi, (which is not on 5G because SleepMapper can not handle 5G) and called customer service, all to no avail. SleepMapper asks me whether the “access point” or “WiFi” symbol is visible during setup, I select “WiFi” and it is an endless cycle of it asking me which I see, and then trying to go back and reestablish a connection. My phone is up to date and I do not believe there is anything I can do but use the product with limited features and no sleep data. Very disappointing, Philips.
Update: Yes. I have reinstalled SleepMapper . I’ve reinstalled SleepMapper and reset the device multiple times.

The Somneo light, for which I paid extra because it’s a “smart light”, on its own works fine.
It is not a smart light, however, because SleepMapper is not functional and will either 1) work for a few days and then break, or 2) will not find the device in the first place.
When it did work, it takes a while to connect to the light every time you use it. Sometimes you have to kill and restart SleepMapper . Changing the alarm time will take you ~1-2 min.
In my case, it just stopped connecting to the light one day and I no longer can make it find the device.
So don’t bother with SleepMapper , and maybe just buy the cheaper light that does not lie about being smart.
To developers:
yes, I have gone through the troubleshooting steps, several times
no, I do not have Wi-Fi Assist turned on
I have reinstalled SleepMapper – that also wiped my current conversation with Support, so great app design there too.
being unable to add the device to SleepMapper , there is no Feedback option, and the “Get Help” link does not give any options to send a help request. Kind of impressive how terrible SleepMapper is in all aspects.
I have reset the light at least 4 times now. The light itself is able to connect to my network – it says so on its screen, and I see it active on my router. SleepMapper simply spins forever on “connecting the light to your home network screen”.

I have not been able to connect HF3670 to SleepMapper for sometime now. This was previously connected with same router without any problems. I tried everything including reset, reinstalling SleepMapper and rebooting my router. Also moved closer to the router but no difference. Also togged off the “WiFi assist” switch. This is definitely a recent issue after update of the software/ iOS 13.
Please can you test this properly. You already made customers to open accounts with you just for a sleep assistance device and collected all information. Able to use SleepMapper was the only purpose for opening an account. Would never have done that had this been the level of quality and support. This is totally unbecoming of a company like Philips.
I bought the machine from US but currently using it in India. Does the location make any difference after your recent updates.
A quick resolution would be really helpful to many customers.

SleepMapper allows you to do so few things for an app and device that is being sold in 2021 as a smart connected device. Firstly, why is there no Google Assistant integration? Philips Hue connects to Google, and this device has Wifi enabled. For a $200 device you’d expect to be able to use it with your other smart device routines. Also, why is there no ability to connect/import Fitbit or Apple Health sleep data? Only to export? I have a fitbit that is automatically tracking my sleep data. I dont want to have to manually add it into SleepMapper . Lastly, why cant the display brightness automatically adjust based on the light levels? Its very frustrating to have to adjust the brightness every morning and every night. I would appreciate the display brightness have an option to turn off during the night, and turn in during the day.

I do love this light and the options and settings that it offers but had I known SleepMapper wouldn’t work with it 90% of the time I would NEVER had paid more for the feature. In the beginning it did work and I loved it, after three weeks.... it completely stopped connecting with SleepMapper . I have tried the reset options and still nothing. I am beyond frustrated that I’m unable to actually use it as I had planned but I am happy with the actual light and its options and features. So I highly recommend the light, but if you’re on the fence about paying extra to have SleepMapper feature you should pass. I wish I had now that I know.

I downloaded and used SleepMapper as part of a trial program. The first exercise was to set a consistent wake up time which I was surprised taught me that habit very quickly. However the bad side is that I had to set my wake up time for my earliest daytime start. So then I was waking up at 6 AM every day yet most of the time I could wake up later. But the training had made me always wake up earlier so I was not happy at all. I was expecting additional exercises to come after that but there were none. So SleepMapper has done nothing to help me go to sleep earlier which is what I really wanted. If you want to train yourself to wake up at a consistent time I do recommend SleepMapper as it worked very quickly for me to train that behavior. But I see no other benefit to SleepMapper

It’s somewhat frustrating not being able to control the clock over the internet, sometimes I go to visit family and I don’t want the power leaks to go off forever just because I forgot to turn it off before I left. I’ll be able to get around this with a vpn, which I’m planning to do anyways to get internet-wise access to pi-hole. I get that it is probably a security concern, but perhaps it could be possible to create an API for the system that can be controlled with Siri, ifttt, etc. I’d like to be able to set an alarm with Siri, turn on/off the radio/aux cable, turn on/off the main light, and turn on sleep tracking. It would be also be great to get Siri to report the ambient conditions around you because it is already collecting that data.

Seems to be working okay, but I’m really disappointed that Philips wants us to log in and share all our data, but SleepMapper settings don’t sync down and there’s no process to add a device that is already set up. That means if something happens to your phone, you lose all your settings and hard reset on the device is the only option. It’s not possible to see or modify settings for the same device on multiple phones.

I love this alarm and have had it since October; however, yesterday I noticed I slept through my alarm and today I noticed that it stopped playing sound. The sound works when I use the aux cord and when clicking around on the interface, but for some reason it is not registering the sound requests from SleepMapper and only goes through the light. I have reset the alarm, deleted and redownloaded SleepMapper multiple times all to have the same issue where the alarm and sunset sounds do not play on my alarm. This is frustrating because it's kinda the whole point of the alarm.

Problem 1: You can't silence the alarm audio without also turning off the wake light. This is super basic and very jarring especially in the morning in an otherwise dark room.
Problem 2: Your mobile device MUST be connected to the same wireless SSID as the smart light, or SleepMapper won't be able to find the light, even though there's no other technical reason for it to fail to connect. So that means you cannot join the light to a secure IoT network where clients cannot talk to one another just the internet for updates, and manage the device from a different SSID/subnet. Won't work because SleepMapper won't find the light. So your choice is either allow the smart light more network access than it should be entrusted with, or turn your smart light into a dumb light by sequestering it on a secure IoT network, reducing you to managing the light only through its physical controls.
Until/unless these problems get solved, I'm afraid it's only 3 stars from me.

I just bought the wake up alarm and SleepMapper will not open. It says internet is not available (even though it is). I tried downloading SleepMapper on a different phone and it still won’t open beyond the notification that there is no internet connection. Help?
UPDATE: the issue was resolved quickly and SleepMapper works just fine now! Thank you, support team.

This is a reliable app and with just a few more things could be 5 stars. I wish I could add a note for each day to record anything that might have occurred affecting sleep measurements. Things like didn’t put on mask until later; woke up feeling drowsy, etc. Also export ting of data would be useful. Otherwise, it Connects quickly every time does keep track of usage.

Everything about SleepMapper is great, except for the “Tips” section. Here are the issues:
- You get a new sleep “Tip” notification every day. It’s a big red notification bubble.
- You can’t just go to the “Tips” section to clear the notification. You have to click “Tips” then on the specific new tip itself, and open it!
Now I’m all for better sleep tips but I don’t want the notification about it. There is also no organization to the Tips you receive. They should be able to be sorted or filtered into a library of sleep tips that I can access when I want to, instead of receiving a new one daily with the notification bubble. It would be fine if you could turn sleep tips notifications OFF, but you can’t.
Aside from that, sometimes my Somneo needs to be reset if I lose power, it doesn’t reconnect to WiFi once it’s back on/ SleepMapper says it can’t connect. That’s pretty annoying during storm season. Not sure that’s an app issue, but it’s still an annoyance.
A few design updates and I’d give SleepMapper a higher rating.

Truly life changing. Deep sleep is something many of us lose as we age. A little research into deep sleep and the glymphatic system will tell you just how import that part of sleep is to our brain’s health. The SmartSleep headband has definitely increased my deep sleep over the past two years. I’m over 50 now but rack up 70-80 minutes each night compared with perhaps 45 when I started. I’m also an aerospace engineering executive and I can tell you I strain with a poor night’s sleep but after a night with lots of deep sleep I am way ahead of everyone, truly on top of my game. With a night of good deep sleep I am calm, insightful and even the most challenging situations seem effortless.

I bought this despite researching some cheaper options because it seems like, when it works, this thing is the best. However, for the life of me I can get it to connect to my phone. I’m a problem solver and feel like I have googled and attempted every solution possible. Unfortunately, I’ll have to return. I’m bummed because I can tell by fiddling with it that the light itself gets really, really bright and I think this could really help me wake up at 4 am for work. I guess I’ll never get to find out!

Echoing some other reviewers from this month—the current version of SleepMapper has a bug that prevents it from connecting to my Somneo for any longer than a few minutes, if it ever connects at all. My Somneo *is* connected to the same Wi-Fi network my phone is on—I see the Wi-Fi icon on the Somneo’s screen—but SleepMapper doesn’t recognize this. I’ve tried hard-resetting the Somneo repeatedly, to no avail.
Update: After upgrading my iPhone, SleepMapper finally connects reliably. But my old phone was an iPhone XS, so it’s not like it was outdated or anything. Short of buying a new phone, I’m not sure how to fix this issue for others who may still experience it. (Maybe try a factory reset?) The temperature and humidity graphs are very useful, and I’m a lot happier with my Somneo now.

Can not get SleepMapper to connect to my alarm clock. SleepMapper keeps showing me a blank white screen. I bought the clock in hopes to use the data the clock sends to SleepMapper , but it’s much less useful because I cannot connect the two, due to SleepMapper being buggy. Not worth the increase in price if I cannot see the data.

I was on the fence about shelling out $200 for a high end wake up light when there are far cheaper options, but it looks really cool so I bought it.
The initial setup was a snap and everything was up and running. Within a few hours it lost its connection to WiFi. I ran through all the troubleshooting steps to no avail. I finally gave up and went to bed. I started the whole process the next day. Once again ran through troubleshooting, no luck. Checked the website no real advice there
I have reset the device more times than I can remember, I have uninstalled and reinstalled SleepMapper . I have powered my phone off and on and eventually got this to connect, only for it to lose its connection. Once again repeating the same steps and it won’t connect. Now I see it’s a known issue. Don’t even bother wasting your money on this, get a less expensive wake up light and a sleep tracker app and you will have most of the same functionality for a tenth of the price.

I love the Philips wake-up alarm and light. But SleepMapper consistently has difficulty connecting to the unit. Almost every time, I have to force close SleepMapper , turn off wi-fi on bit phone and alarm clock, then hope for the best. I work for an application developer and none of these issues make sense to me. Would I buy the alarm clock again? Maybe, if the price were lower and I didn’t try to use SleepMapper .

I had no issues with SleepMapper or light for months. App no longer works. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Reset the light. Tried multiple times to connect the two. Light connects to WiFi easily but app no longer recognizes its connected. Disappointing since I loved using the light up until now.

Informative and easy step by step directions. I use it daily. This device will not help you fall asleep but rather provide sleep data and when your body relaxes into deep sleep, the device gently emits tones to help the body sustain that deep sleep.
