Tailwind needs to do a revamp of their app and get something in place that’s more reliable. Super buggy and signs you out all the time at random.

If you’re looking to upgrade from the average door clicker, I would look somewhere else.

Absolutely awful app. Logs me out, then when I try to log in, it tells me my password is wrong. When I try to reset the password, it tells me my email address is wrong. Finally, it kicks me out altogether. Would love to try the product itself but no luck.

Customer service was helpful initially but then went MIA, I tried to return the product but apparently they are Canadian and the package went to their US forwarding address. No support, no product, and no refund.

I was forced to watch videos and then have TailWindSmart step me through the process twice since the registration of email didn’t work at all the first time. App testing is severely lacking. Got my door to open/close one time with TailWindSmart . Now didn’t work. Waste of an afternoon let alone purchase of a product that doesn’t work

TailWindSmart is great for what it is intended to do, but the background battery drain issue needs to be fixed. This drains my battery even when I am not in the house, but when I am at home it drains it so quickly. Please do something about it.

After installing iOS 13 the auto open feature that I use through IFTTT no longer works. IFTTT won’t find the garage door anymore. Have to give 2 stars until it is fixed. After that a solid 4 star app

There are great features available in TailWindSmart, but if using the auto open/close you will be forced to deal with horrible battery drain. I can have a full battery at 9pm and the wake up at 6am to find my phone at less than 10%. Battery stats report extreme use by TailWindSmart . Turning off Bluetooth and restarting the phone sorts out the drain, but it always comes back.

I pretty much always have to kill TailWindSmart if it’s been launched recently, otherwise it won’t connect. I get a really long loading indicator and then “device offline”.

If I kill TailWindSmart and restart, it connects instantly.

Love TailWindSmart . Use it all the time on my iPhone. Tried installing it on my iPad, but every time I click “login” TailWindSmart immediately crashes. Hopefully they fix this issue!

I’ve had this for years, I thought the concept was great, but TailWindSmart has been a beating. It’s a “will it work?” every time we pull up. If I’m in range of my wifi, it’s easier to use Apple home to open it versus the Tailwind app.

I can think of 3 times of service outage of ~1 day in recent memory... not good, especially when the device seems to cause my car Homelink to not work a high percentage of the time - meaning when it’s not working sometimes I have to get out of the car to close the garage door

Sometimes it doesn’t work well most of the time it does.

In reviewing apps this one stood out with automatic opening The wait list confirmed its popularity. While I installed it myself, you may want instillation if you can afford it. I’m modestly tech savvy and needed support which I give full 5 stars. The Best part is automatically opening and closing the door even if we forgot to close at night and then telling you so you can build good habits. Try it and you won’t go back to not having it. Awesome and fun

How have we lived without this??? No more leaving the garage doors open all night for the thieves.

One of the easiest installations I’ve ever done. Works perfectly using 5 additional sub-accounts. Wish there was a way to manage the ‘admin’ settings but it’s prob right in front of me and I’ve yet to see it. Very cool unit that works with an opener from hell so I’m totally impressed. Great Job Tailwind!!!

I have the type of doors that swing up so the rail attachment system didn’t work for me. Instead I took the sensors off of the metal brackets and installed directly onto my door and used a wood block to space the sensor out to meet its pair. The door system does not work on 5G wireless so make sure your logged into a 2G wireless system.

Love it so far! I had Nexx Garage that worked great till they changed TailWindSmart then it became very unreliable. I gave them 6 months to work the bugs out but no luck. I’ve had the Tailwind system installed for a week now and it has been flawless. Tailwinds capability of operating multiple garage doors and recognizing which door to open by the car your driving is awesome.

After Chamberlain decided to start making life difficult for MyQ users, I looked for a new solution for integrating my garage doors into HomeKit and decided to go with Tailwind and I’m glad I did. Installation for two doors took a bit but everything is running beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

Overall this is a very well polished app and device. My only hiccup so far was not being able to paste my password from a password manager during a password reset. Other than that, for the past week, my garage door has been much smarter, and I continue to be just as dumb. Luckily I don’t have to worry about leaving it open anymore. It just shuts itself.

Feature request!
Use location services to allow me to disable notifications while I’m home. The schedule feature is cool, but I’m not on a set schedule.
