Training materials don’t really work

When you access the training program from MySSI , the progress indicator does not truly indicate where it will take you to. And, it’s not consistent. I was reading through the course and it kept taking me to the “last seen page“ which was several chapters prior. Allegedly the progress is being tracked correctly, it’s just not working right in MySSI . Frustrating to say the least. At one point it did actually catch up and move me to the correct last page, but then it reverted back to what it was doing before. I have a tough time telling students how great and wonderful MySSI is when there are very obvious problems with it, and they don’t seem overly intent on fixing them. I should add, this behavior exists even if you do a manual synchronization from within MySSI . According to their support response it can take up to 24 hours to synchronize the progress, but even this is inconsistent, not to mention pretty unacceptable considering that just about any other app (e.g. bank apps) can synchronize immediately. So it’s not like it’s an impossible problem to solve.

Great App

I love using MySSI! I love having all of my cert cards in one place that I can easily pull up no matter where I am. I have been using the dive log for about a year and I absolutely love the map feature. It is so cool being able to look at all the places I have been able to dive. The PSI end field does have a glitch but hopefully it will be worked out soon.
I would like to see some new features or changes. I think it would be awesome if I log a dive I should be able to share it with my buddy. All they would have to do is edit the dive details to match their dive. I would also really like to be able to add dive pictures to the sites I have dove or my dive log. Kinda a virtual scrapbook.
I look forward to future updates!

Too buggy

As other reviewers have mentioned, training synchronization is an issue. Had some bugs with no audio coming through for videos...their response? Delete and reinstall. Needed an update to my cards in MySSI . The answer? Delete and reinstall. Little details like Apple Wallet integration have been overlooked. I will say, it’s easy to provide feedback and they always respond within 24 hrs.

I truly hope the dev team sees this. Could be a fantastic app with some minor enhancements like:

- Apple Wallet integration
- FaceID integration?
- Improved content sync
- Improved navigation (bottom nav vs current hamburger menu - use human interaction principles)
- Swipe to navigate back
- Consistent UI - some screens are black backgrounds, some are white. Some menu screens have inconsistent fonts.
- Improved UI - maybe a little more “white”space to not feel so cluttered
- Social component? See what my dive buddies have dived, comments, awards, etc. Think Strava. Keep divers and LDS more connected!

Happy to update my review if anything changes, but for now, not much more than a basic logbook and card holder.

Moral of the story: if there’s an issue, delete and reinstall!

Poor usability

The dive log portion of MySSI is what I was most interested in when downloading it to use with my quad dive computer. It is very buggy. MySSI kept timing out when downloading dives. Then when inputting info in it would not let me enter the correct numbers to my ending cylinder pressure. The backspace key went straight to “are you sure you want to cancel this dive?”
It asks for email addresses of my dive buddy and if I put nothing in it won’t take the entry. I typed in “no idea” and it accepted that!!!
This is a very poorly thought out app and clearly needs to be done with divers input.
I use my quad as a secondary computer and am glad that I don’t rely on it for uploading dive data. The true data is saved to my computer from my Oceanic Geo 2.
Very disappointed in this. Wish I could give a better review.

Good for training materials / beware of dive log

Great app for training material access when taking classes. Was able to track progress across iPhone and iPad which made it easy to work on the academic components of the training.

However, the dive log is poor and designed to lock in users. Dives must be logged in MySSI to count against course / progress requirements yet there is very limited import (Mares only because Mares owns SSI). No way to export your log data.

Perhaps consider other / better dive log software. Use this just for basic dive logging for course credit / certs and spend time taking notes and reviewing computer data analysis in better stand alone dive log apps.

Needs syncing between app & online training status fixed

Have been using MySSI for roughly 2 years and everything would be awesome IF the online training progress/status would sync better with MySSI .
I have completed multiple classes online only to open MySSI later for it to show it has never been started. I know my shop & corporate received the completed version because I have taken the tests and received my cards.
This issue is really unnerving when trying to advance to the professional side...

Import dives capability asked for still not available

MySSI is good for me just to show certifications and training if you wish. I requested over a year ago to import dives from csv or database backup from other programs like my Shearwater Dive Watch to avoid manual entry still not available. This should be a no brainer.

Makes training and logging harder, not easier

Sadly, this new and awful app makes taking SSI courses harder rather than easier. It randomly defaults back to the beginning of trainings instead of saving a place, does not show progress of material already covered, although it claims to. Also tends to hand during training content downloads and freeze when loading content.

In common with the old app, there is no way to verify log entries of dives taken with PADI buddies or instructors. SSI is the minority, not the whole world. Yet SSI insists on ignoring this reality. The frustrations this causes, as well as the worse than before app, have actually tempted me leave SSI and recertify elsewhere.

Best in the Industry!

Digital scuba learning is made easier by the this app app. Start on a phone or tablet and switch to a computer and maintain your place. Add to it the ability to log and certify dives and you have the dive industries best app so far for learning and recording your dives. Another great feature is maintaining your free certification cards in MySSI . No other training agency has met the “App World” with anything better.

Updating is getting better

They are constantly updating to get it better and if you see and issue send a feed back so they can fix it and it should be getting fixed as soon as they can after that. Since I have started using MySSI it is getting better.

This is not how app updates work

This is the second time SSI has done a major app update and instead of just pushing out a update they release a brand new app.

I’m an SSI instructor and an IT manager and how you handle your digital presence is absurd. Your app and website are buggy. All your content looks like it was reviewed by 10 year old for grammar and mistakes. Your quizzes have multiple contradictions and mistakes. And many of your video are sexist.

I can’t wait to start using MySSI and seeing what you’ve broken now.

Don’t bother, from your SSI Instructor

I am an SSI Instructor. MySSI is completely useless. Don’t bother trying to log your dives I. This buggy, poorly designed software.

SSI pushed this out before it was ready in time for last year’s DEMA Show, and after it received many poor reviews from users they emailed their dive pro’s asking us to get on here and leave it positive reviews to help the rating.

Come on, SSI, we can do better than this. This isn’t even worth the free price, you should be paying people for their trouble.

Avoid This App Like the Plague

If you created your account online via the “Sign in with Google” option, you cannot use MySSI. MySSI requires you to enter a password that you do not have since you logged in with your Google account. There is no alternative log in options. Also, you cannot reset your password either since that also requires a password that you do not have.

Dive log failure

I liked MySSI until I recently opened it to view my past dives and it had somehow changed the locations and dates for all of my dives. Very frustrating as this is the only record I have of the names of all of my dive sites. I would welcome someone contacting me to fix this, but MySSI support link from MySSI Store takes me to the home page of SSI with no mention anywhere for app support. Disappointed.

Won’t link to iPhone via Bluetooth

Bought the Genius Digital Dive Computer to be able to upload dive data instead of having to manually log it in. Cannot get the Bluetooth to sync with my phone. Disappointing.

By

SSI dive log completely broken

Fails to upload manually logged dives. Not internally consistent on number of logged dives. The notes field - which is the most needed field for logging line-ups and fun marine life finds - is only accessible through the edits fields. if I could down load all my dives with note fields I would do so and abandon this nearly useless app. It can’t be that hard to create something that is functional, useful to the user and, stable

Apple sync

Little mini crashes or slightly annoying, but it’s getting better. It would also be really amazing if you could link it to Apple fitness.

Bug report

As I’m studying for the open water diver notes. MySSI makes me go back to the page where I left of. It’d be nice if you could fix that. But other than that, MySSI is good.

Horrible and frustrating content download experience

Literally no navigation in MySSI is solid. Frustrating User experience all the way. Content download menu doesn’t give you all three options consistently: no video, with video and HD are the three options if you actually manage to see them after the first time. Garbage.

Date and time of Dive-log will not saving

MySSI if far better than the Padi app. But the main reason using MySSI was its dive log feature. Everything works fine but the date and time will not save. Since this is the most important feature, this is a terrible bug! Please fix this...

Looks pretty, functions poorly

Wow, the interface looks great. Layout is intuitive. Looks like it’s going to be great.

Almost nothing loads properly, if at all. Once you click something it’s as though you’ve lost internet connection. You haven’t. MySSI is just crash happy. Disappointing

Are you kidding me?

Force me to move from a stable app that’s rock-solid to MySSI? I’ve been building software for over 20 years and have never released a product so buggy as this. MySSI wouldn’t even make alpha quality. It crashed the first time I logged a dive, and won’t open since (opens and crashes continuously now)

Excellent app love the e-card

The academic program is very easy to follow and manage. E-card is the way to go, your phone is in the initial stages of become the universal form of ID.

By

Disappointed. Again.

I’ve reached out a total of 4 times over the last year. Still haven’t changed the dive type settings. Unfortunately not all of us are scuba only. It’s time to move on to a new agency. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to mange something as simple as this.
