Convenient.... but

The Buffalo Roam app is very easy to use .... but what’s up with the .10 cent surcharge. It’s a real pain. I guess some bright eyes accountant thought this would be an easy way for users to keep replenishing their account and using BuffaloRoam . Why doesn’t the City just pay the .10 cent fee. I’m sure they’re saving many dollars by using BuffaloRoam. to keep track of parking. It has to be cheaper than sending out a pair of high payed city workers to empty the meters.

It’s a tracking device for the meter maids.

I parked in zone 17 (Delaware Ave between north and Allen), I used BuffaloRoam at 8 am (2 hr parking) near Allen, at 950am I moved my vehicle much closer to where I was (north st) and at my expiring time 10am, BuffaloRoam would not allow me to pay again. It stated my allotted time was up. I then put $2 worth of quarters in the meter. When I went to my vehicle at 1142 am to leave the area (18 minutes remaining) I had a parking ticket with a time stamp at 1053am. After several phone calls, including a personal one to Kevin Helfer (unreturned) I was told it is only 2 hr parking at the meters. After explaining that I left my original spot and paid cash at the second spot, they did not care. In my opinion, pay cash and they can’t track your vehicle. Zone 17 is large. Hopefully you can conduct your business in under 2 hours. Absolute joke!!!

Great but need more options

The best part is as a time saving the 5 minutes you save when you just have to run into a place. But BuffaloRoam does not allow a 15 minute or 30 min options of pay. It forces you to pay 1 or 2 hours. Which to me for most people defeats the purpose if you have a hour or two of time you have time to put coins in a meter or get a ticket. So the only time I have use this is when the weather is bad and it is worth the cost. With better paying options I feel I would use this all the time.

Buffalo Roam is not very good

I downloaded Buffalo Roam ahead of time to be prepared as I was instructed by my HR rep for my new job. I did make a mistake in my license plate number, and there is no way to edit to correct this once you save the license plate number. So, I saved it again. Ok onto the next problem.....I enter my zone which was 17, nope the message said “this is a prepay zone”. I just kept going in BuffaloRoam thinking “well isn’t this prepay?” Next problem....I put in all my credit card information, after numerous attempts the message would only read, “network error.” Needless to say, I gave up on Buffalo Roam.

Convenient, if you know what your parking zone is

Don’t get me wrong, I like BuffaloRoam . It is easy to use, and keeps me from scrambling for change at the parking meter. The problem I run into is not all of the parking areas in town have the zone number clearly marked on the meters or the ticket kiosks, so if you guess the zone wrong, you’re getting a parking ticket. Otherwise, kudos.

App works well enough, but why is there no zone map?

As the title says, then using an app for a couple years now and it’s frustrating that on the website nor in BuffaloRoam , can you just find a map of all the zone numbers.

I don’t understand why this isn’t something that’s available already when clearly the numbers are already known and the where they’re located is also already known

Horrible app

BuffaloRoam is SO frustrating. It keeps crashing. It will not allow a credit card to be saved. Yes - I had to keep trying different cards in the middle of the street in downtown Buffalo!! I just loved having to pull credit cards out in plain view because it kept rejecting card after card. (That’s sarcasm!) Error after error was what I was getting. I finally got something to work. I was 1/2 way back to my car to use cash instead. That’s probably what I will do from this point forward. It just made me feel unsafe.

No parking zone information!

A parking app that doesn’t tell you which zone you are in. So in Buffalo winter you need to walk around to find a pole with a Zone marker. Can’t they use the phone GPS? Can’t they have a map in BuffaloRoam so you can see the zones (and cost’s because it varies) One pole next to me now has a green parking sign with a 10 in the corner. Below it on the sale pole there is a Buffalo Roam sign saying Zone 16. In the adjacent street there are only the green signs with a 10. I paid for zone 10 last week now I think I’m lucky it’s winter and no parking attendants are checking parking!

Worst Parking App with Bait and Switch

I visit Buffalo for the first time in my life and decide to head downtown to visit the historic city hall building. Street parking will not allow you to use coins. Instead, you are instructed to download BuffaloRoam . I want to pay for maybe an hour’s worth of parking. I tried to pay for two dollars. Next thing I know, I am charged $10 as a wallet to draw money from in the future. Now where is that made clear until it is too late. Do not download app and do not park anywhere that requires BuffaloRoam.

Parking made easier

I have use BuffaloRoam multiple time and it works. I have never gotten a parking ticket after paying with BuffaloRoam.

Running couple of minutes late, you can simply continue to where you are going and dont have to stop and find change to pay or sometime get behind someone else and wait to use the machine, to type in your license plate, to print the ticket and place it on your dashboard carefully, making sure the winds does not blows your ticket out of place.

BuffaloRoam is secure, as long as you dont share your pin with anyone.

Cant see anything negative on using BuffaloRoam .

Very buggy

There hasn’t been an update in quite some time and BuffaloRoam works 50% of the time. Most days I have to pay with my card, meanwhile there’s money in my wallet on BuffaloRoam. Please update!

Worked once, never since

Worked one time, and ever since, payment fails no matter what I try. Tried troubleshooting everything customer support told me to do, including just paying at the physical meter (which in Buffalo are very often broken or non existent). Eventually was told to just use the website version instead? Thankfully I haven’t received a citation. Works fine on a google phone with the very same info. Fix the iPhone version!

The newest version of the app is terrible’

The way BuffaloRoam used to be was so user friendly. Now, is much more difficult to do so many things.... especially add money. I have tried several times and several different ways and it won’t work. Switching from the different features on BuffaloRoam is cumbersome. It was such a convenient way to pay, but not anymore!! Please make it easier to use again. Also, what do I do to add money? At this point I can’t even use it because I can’t add money!

Greed

Buffalo has been very greedy when it comes to parking downtown, which is not a surprise. You have to pay $10 for their buffalo roam wallet, just to pay $2 to park for 2 hours. Who the heck thought this was a good idea? Parking is already limited during the day and now you’re going to add this on top of everything else? No wonder why people are moving out of the city. They try to take money from the citizens and not even use it to better the streets of Buffalo.

By

So easy!

So easy to park and pay. Only complaint is the zones are so large that when you are in the heart of downtown at multiple locations and have to move your car you can quickly run to the limit of the zone.

This app is a rip off if you don’t live in Buffalo

BuffaloRoam is a rip off if you don’t live in Buffalo. You have to put a minimum of 10 dollars onto your account at a time even though you probably won’t be spending that much on a single parking session. They charge a 10 cent convenience fee on all transactions which isn’t a lot BUT it makes it so you have to reload your account if you plan on using their service again.

By

Lots of hidden rules

I downloaded BuffaloRoam to make it easier to pay for my parking while was visiting Buffalo for the day. They don’t tell you that you have to load $10 minimum to use BuffaloRoam as well as tacking on a convenience fee every time you use it. I only used it for two hours ($4) and have a remaining balance of $6 that I can’t use since I was only there for the day. Much cheaper to pay at the machine if you’re visiting Buffalo.

Payment failures

I can’t pay for parking with M&T bank debit cards. I get error of “payment failure” even though it’s accurate data… not sure if it’s just M&t or others but that’s all I have

it’s not a one time occurrence and has happened before when trying to take family to a nice restaurant and couldn’t pay for parking. Embarrassing…. Developers need to look into it.

When it works, it’s fine

When it works, it’s fine. But it will randomly just not work anymore. Like right now, when I’m trying to park at public espresso and I HAVE existing money in my “wallet” but it has somehow decided that it needs to reload my credit card (which has not expired). When trying to reload the credit card, it keeps saying “network error”.

I’ve never been so frustrated trying to park.

Easy

Just used this for the first time. So easy to use, like the fact that I can add time without having to go back to my car and get another ticket or add money the meter. I think this is great! Wish the NFTA had an app like this to travel the train or bus.
