This game is literally designed around manipulating children into spending their parents money. I’m not sure how these developers sleep at night. Then again, it is Ludia. Let me start by saying I’ve played this game since day 1 - Huge fan of the HTTYD series. Over time, I became increasingly annoyed with the large amount of technical bugs and issues related to the gameplay - oddly, almost every single issue had a way of using micro-transactions and in-game currency to fix itself - EVERYTHING, bug or not, is geared towards making you do that. Weeks after the developers gave me verbal confirmation that they would fix the specific issues I mentioned, nothing happened. So I took a LONG (probably about a year) hiatus from the game, because it was too annoying. Returning to the game after a year - EVERY SINGLE issue I reported is still in the game. And every single issue can be resolved or otherwise overcome by spending money. I hope the developers are enjoying the money they’re making from tricking 7-year-old children into spending a disproportionate amount of money for a tiny amount of in-game help, until the next bug comes along. Criminal. What’s even sadder is that this is literally what I’ve come to expect from Ludia. It should be their mission statement. Such a pathetic blemish on an otherwise amazing franchise.

This game can be really fun when it wants to be, and I’ve always loved HTTYD, but it’s specifically designed to make you lose. Don’t think that they don’t know the game has issues, they PUT IN the issues on purpose to make the game more frustrating, therefore encouraging you to get in app purchases. Competitive play is awful. Even higher level people always end up getting stuck at one rank no matter how hard they try to break out of it, and it’s heavily reliant on RNG and luck. You lose battles you can easily win just because the tiles weren’t lined up for you correctly and you have to try again and just HOPE you get lucky. The game can be extremely slow and exhausting because it takes a long time to save up runes for the dragon gacha, and it doesn’t even guarantee you getting a five star dragon with such low chances. Not to mention, this app require DUPLICATES if you want to level them up, so not only is it super hard to get five star this app from the gacha, you have to get the same one again MULTIPLE TIMES somehow! Don’t even get me started on the event this app when it comes to duplicates. This game is so greedy and wants you to spend ridiculous amounts of money just so you can play the game normally and it doesn’t take a million years to progress.

Updated to add- I got a dev response on my review. They advised me to do exactly what tech support told me to do, which didn’t work. *golfclap*
I did get back into my account on my own. I had to delete and reinstall the game, which “support” never suggested. I missed a week of Flight Club runes and a trust event that would have allowed me to do the final upgrade on Toothless. I was not even offered a genuine apology to compensate for this situation. I think the very least I was due is the runes I was unable to collect on my flight club subscription.

I’ve been playing this game for nearly a year. I pay the $10/month for the subscription. About a week and a half ago I launched the game and for some reason instead of launching my existing account through Game Center it asked for an Apple login, which of course I have. So I logged in using saved info via fingerprint verification.. which it claimed was incorrect. It created a new account rather than loading the one I’ve developed over months. I contacted support and they told me they weren’t sure they’d be able to recover my account and requested purchase records and my gamecenter ID, which i promptly provided. It’s now been 5 days since I provided those records and haven’t heard back. So play at your own risk. If you run into problems you’re on your own.

This is a really fun game, but don’t buy the subscription. I played the game for ages without buying anything, and there’s plenty to do without spending money. I finally bought the subscription to get all the extras, and it worked great for a month. When it renewed for the next month, my content suddenly disappeared and the game thought I didn’t have a subscription, but I had just payed for it. The game also wouldn’t let me resubscribe, because I had an active subscription. So basically, I paid for absolutely nothing and there was nothing I could do about it. I contacted service and they gave me some initial fixes to try, but none of them worked. They next told me to… contact Apple, instead of fixing the problem themselves, nor did they grant me the runes and other content I missed in the meantime. They were not helpful at all. After Apple cancelled my subscription, I tried resubscribing and I got the same errors. The game thinks I both have a subscription and don’t have a subscription, so I guess I’m just not going to get access to that extra content. It’s a great game as long as you don’t buy anything and as long as you don’t need to contact service.

I really like this game. It is very fun for a httyd lover like myself. However I think there are some flaws in the game. 1) to level up a dragon to 3 stars you have to give another card for that same dragon, this is the same for 4-5 level this app this app you have less the 1% chance of getting you have to get 2 of and I don’t even know what you need for levels 4 and 5. They have the same thing for toothless. If the game really cared about the show it comes from it should know there is ONE night furry this really made me mad it is a httyd game after all more then one night fury is just weird. More then that it’s 2 or the same dragon and there like consuming the other one like weird in my opinion and I know many others agree this should be changed for all 4-5 star dragon ESPECIALLY the night fury. 2) when you are half way through each map you can fight to win dragon scales. These fights are way over powered I have been 300 points over the other team on not made it to wave 2. These overpowered teams need to be fixed they are very annoying. 3) the light fury and toothless take FOREVER to get they should be around full time or they switch each week. They are crazy hard to get the Hart’s then you have to wait 24 hours to replay like what. This is what I feel should be fixed and my then my rate would got to 5 stars.

I really want to love this game, especially with all the money I have (unwisely) dropped on it. It’s fun when it’s fair, but I am so frustrated being stuck on one single battle when I am well over 300 points over the recommended level for it. The enemies are stacked against you to make it pretty much impossible to win without lots of money, having five enemy this app all take a turn every time you only make one move. How is that fair? If they get five moves every time, then I certainly should. I don’t want to give up on this game because I love this franchise so much and I have enjoyed other mobile games for it (I have been playing Rise of Berk for five years) but it will be hard to stick to it knowing how much they don’t want me to progress. Also, needing multiples of a rare dragon in order to train them is nonsense and another way to milk money from the player. Getting the scales is fine since you can do that through quests, but rare this app you can only get through paying or from breeding rare this app so you already have to have them (and then can’t use them in your party while you are breeding them, essentially stalling your play). Maybe they will iron out the issues one day since it is a pretty new game, but for now I’m afraid I’ve stopped having much fun with it.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now, and I really love it! The models and sounds for the this app are amazing, and the diversity in this app you can collect is astounding. However, I do have a few complaints that overall hinder the experience. The first is that progression in terms of upgrading your this app can be infuriatingly slow at times. Often, I find myself pushing this game to its limit trying to get a single scale for a dragon I want to level up, or having to wait over 24 hours for most of my energy to return before I can play again. Speaking of that, I’ve noticed that a lot of the teams set for you to fight are extremely difficult, even though I am usually within 300 points of their overall ranking. This happens in the Thawfest Games as well, where I have to either reroll until my hands hurt or purposefully sacrifice my ranking just to find a team I have even a slim shot at beating. There’s also times where these battles (both tournaments and storyline) can be very slow—not necessarily difficult, but just set in a way where most of the team are healers that have a lot of health and do enough damage to where they end up being able to chip away at my dragon without me being able to do anything. Overall, it’s definitely a great game, but I could only wish it bras a bit better with rng.

*Edit: Scales seem to be easier to get now. However, Alpha Battles are getting stuck on a load screen now and take away an energy without actually letting me play. I am now reloading the game between every alpha to try to avoid this. Annoying.*

I’ve played this game for years. I’ve got most of the five star this app that you have to play special events and earn trust points to get. Now, however, I need three star scales to train them, and they are crazy difficult to get in the scale search quests. I can’t beat the level to get the three star scale, so I need to level up my this app, which I can’t level up until I get the three star scales, which I can’t get because my this app aren’t high enough level to beat the quest because I need the three star scale to level up my this app...you get the picture. I haven’t moved forward on the map in months despite my team being a higher level than the enemy. I’m basically stuck.
I love this game, but I pretty much log in to fight the alpha to stay in my clan and that’s it. I’m not sure how much more gameplay I can get out of it without a new way to earn three star scales. I wish I could buy them in the Thawfest store.

As a lover of HTTYD I was drawn to this game pretty quick and I do like it. But the thing is after a certain amount of time it gets harder to level up. When it comes to breeding as well the odds of getting the dragon you need is very small even after countless attempts. Same thing with draft picks. You can never get a new dragon once you reach a certain point. Moving on to special event this app. I love that you can get main httyd this app like toothless, barf and belch, etc. But the fact that you only get 3 days to try to get as many trust points possible and the free reset is 24 hours!!! That should be reduced to 12 hours because not everyone has time to play these events. Another thing, when battling, it’s ridiculous how when you want to use your this app abilities, the opposing this app can counter that like lightning, but when it the other way around, you can’t do anything! You're blocked from and possible ability. It’s dumb how the game predicts that a dragon is gonna die and doesn’t let you use it’s ability as a last hurrah. But when it’s the other way around they can survive and use their ability to give themselves more health. There needs to be a fair mechanic in the game when it comes to that. But overall the idea of this game is great and i hope the devs listen to the feedback given by countless users who love this game.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now and everything is ok until you get to lvl 10. It’s really hard to upgrade stuff when everything is expensive and not to mention that getting more coins takes up all your energy. The currency is faulty. I’ve noticed that I always have more fish than coins because you can’t do anything with the fish unless you have more this app which they are also hard to get considering the amount of time it takes to battle, earn the coin reward if you even win the battle, have eggs to hatch, and waiting for the eggs to hatch. It would be better is you could find more ways to spend fish than just coins because it’s to time consuming just to get enough coins to do anything. A daily checklist could be cool to have. It would encourage people to login everyday and it would be useful to get extra coins, fish, this app, raffle tickets depending on how far you’ve gotten on the checklist. You could do monthly themes for them as well like maybe one months theme is fire this app and you could only win fire dragon egg or raffle tickets. Overall, the game is really fun an addicting but The prep time to progress in the story takes WAY to long.

I absolutely LOVE this game! However, this newest update seems to have broken some things with bugs... It’s making it frustrating to play. The Battle Conquest duty is completely broken, usually it keeps track well now it won’t count anything so I can’t even use that to get a key for the chest. It’s annoying because those tasks are fairly simple to complete! The other thing is the game seems to lag and struggle sometimes when in a battle. It takes a few minutes to load completely so the first wave will be sitting there but nothing can be matched yet. Then when I finally beat the first wave it takes another few minutes to load the next wave! Sometimes it won’t show the health/spirit bars for the rest of the waves either so it becomes a frustrating battle of guessing and hoping for the best. It’s getting to a point where I’m not playing as much though I REALLY want to. These issues also don’t seem to matter what wifi I’m on or using data which is fast. I’m part of the flight club but if it doesn’t get fixed I probably will cancel the auto renew due to the game being way too difficult to play right now... it makes me sad and very disappointed :( please try to fix it soon!

So I just recently got the game and it is amazing! I love that you get to actually see and interact with the actual 3D figures instead of a sprite. But here are my concerns: For a person who is obsessed with games, it is difficult for me when I cannot level up quick. The Light Fury event had me as soon as I saw that I had the chance to get one. But the thing is that leveling up takes too long, and the event has too short of a timespan. Sure, people who have tons of money they can spend on games with benefit more from the game because they basically have unlimited resources, but some players that are new, like myself, might want the same opportunities, even if obtaining them are slightly more difficult than for the people who buy in-game. The Light Fury is the perfect addition to any team, for both struggling newbies and in-game spending pros, and it would be beneficial if leveling up could be easier, and if the amount of trust points for the Light Fury event or any event could increase by 20/15 points every time they win a battle.

Other than that, love it!

Alright, so I truly enjoy this game. But I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s the new year, but New Year Stormfly hasn’t come around. Which is weird, because I was expecting her to be here around December 31st - January 1st. And now it’s January 4th, and she’s still not here. I looked it up and it said New Year Stormfly would be coming December 31st and leaving January 6th. So I don’t know, developers, if you guys are changing something about the way she looks, or her powers or whatever, but I would appreciate to get some trust points for her because by next year, I’ll probably have a better team. And if I get enough trust points for her this year, then I’ll definitely be getting her next year. But I looked up why she’s not here and it said something about how this is the 3rd or 4th year she’s not been here. I don’t know what’s going on, but she should be here right now. I don’t mean to sound demanding, but 3-4 years of her not arriving in the game is a little over the top. Thank you for understanding and please reply as soon as possible with an honest answer about why she’s not in the game.

So I’ve been playing this game for a few months now, and it quenches my thirst for not only a httyd base, but one that’s also a match three puzzle type mixed with collecting. The game itself is overall unique with the addition of new hybrids, trust point events, and such. My only problem is resources- while normally it’s plentiful, sometimes it’s really hard to gain the proper amount. I’ve been especially low on runes and coins, and I’m unable to purchase anything but not from an in-game interference, simply because I wish not to. I have at least seven different this app that are maxed to their current star rating and I have every single item that I need except the appropriate dragon and coins. I do appreciate the breeding rarity percentage, but it gets a little tiring having to wait so long and being eager to see the results, so I tend to spend a lot of runes on speeding it up. Aside from that, I love this game more than any of my other apps and I’m glad to have given so much of my time to playing it. Though, another issue is the arena. My team’s power level is 4k, yet I’m constantly paired with people that have 6-8k and it gets irritating sometimes because I actually have to wait for people who have a lower team power, if not slightly above, than mine.

I have been playing this game for about 4 years, off and on. I go thru stages in life that when I’ve had enough of the world I like to get lost in playing some of my favorite games to forget about how terrible this world is becoming!!! So I get a new phone & decide I wanna play my most favorite game of all time, Titans Uprising, only to find out that Tapjoy has changed their way for us to get ruines!!! Instead of getting to download different games & completing the necessary requirements to obtain ur free ruins, now all you can do is go to different sites & have to make purchases for whatever it is you decide you might want. I made a purchase for coffee & now they keep charging my credit card over $50 a month for coffee they have never sent to me one time. & all I did was agree to buy one bag for $1!!! That’s the world these days. Always ruining something that never needing any fixing!!! It’s all greed!!! I wish when something is good the way it came out that it would stay the same, instead of it all having to change into something that shouldn’t of in the first place!!! Thanks alot Lydia!!! Why!?!?!?

I love this game because it is so fun. You can crossbreed this app, and unlike Wolf Tails, you don’t get a dragon of one of the parents. You get a completely different dragon, which gets traits of both the parents. The details in this game is insane. You can join a clan, battle this app, upgrade and breed, as I previously mentioned. It’s not like other animal or dragon games, you can interact with your dragon too. It’s so cute when you rub them. Though I do wish we had a bigger dragon roster. After a while, if you try to hatch eggs and your dragon capacity has been reached, you have to spend like a hundred runes just to get like one or two more. It’s annoying. I wish it was kinda like Wolf Tails and you have infinite space. Also, after you play the journeys they get too rough and too hard to win so you have to stop and gain strength. Sometimes the game glitches out when I watch an ad and the music like glitches and crashes. Although the game need some improvement, it’s still awesome and I totally recommend it if you are reading this and you are looking for a dragon game. An HTTYD fan like me just can’t resist it.

OMG. Best. Game. EVER! I have to say, this is pretty impressive. I play this a lot, always trying to beat this app, there is so much to do for a matching game! I never really liked matching games, but them I found this! There are so many things to do, you fight, you take care of this app, and Berk. There are so many possibilities! But I do have something I would like changed, well I bet others would like this too. Please hear me out, thanks! So whenever I have a full bag of fish, gold, eggs, etc. and I just went into a battle, then I won! And I am looking forward to collecting all these awesome prizes for my success. And when it starts to give me stuff, it just disappears. What if you could make it where you put the fish, gold, eggs etc. in our mail, so we can collect it when we don’t have full inventory. I mean it’s the most logical thing to do. Example; if someone is giving you five dollars if you clean their dishes but your credit card is full (this is an example, I know credit cards don’t get full) or whatever they still owe you the five dollars. So, why not put or uncollected stuff in our mail to collect later? I would love this so much and I bet others would too. Thank you so much for your time, and I really hope you consider this. I love your game! 😊

This is my fav game of all time absolutely love it i cant say anything is wrong. Honestly I just wish there was trading, then I could give any extra 5 stars to my brother, friends, etc and i really think it would be nice. I'm sure it would be helpful to many many players, a valid reason is, i have a few 5 stars like 2 that i have not leveled up at all and that are not on my "dream team" so I really don't need them because I am dedicated to different 5 stars, with that being said since I don't need want or use them at all, I would love to trade them to my brother because he has been struggling on getting 5 star this app, he only has 2 after many months of playing and it would be much better if I could trade them to him so they actually have use because he would love them on his team. Other than that, I love this game so so so much and I know you guys probably have a lot of things to add on the game but I would just LOVE a response and me and my brother are like the biggest sibling HTTYD fans so this being one of the only HTTYD games that are actually GOOD scratch that AMAZING this game is super nice, and I bet you have a lot of responses to make but mine being one of the responses would be amazing!!! Let me start out by saying the models are RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME. I really can’t stress this enough, the way each dragon moves, the sounds they make, all certainly match up with the dragon! It’s all eye candy.
However, I do have some issues with the game in of itself. I can’t seem to get past the frozen tundra, even after unsuccessfully leveling up my this app. I wish there was another way to level up said this app. I also wish that you could possibly release this app, like in Rise of Berk. I understand the game is pretty young but I wish you’d add more this app, like a windgnasher, or razorwhip, or maybe even a deathsong! It took me a long time to figure out what it meant when in battle, you attack a dragon, and it does little to no damage because it says “dragon absent.” It took me about a day to figure out that it means I have no dragon of that color on my team. Maybe a little more detailed tutorial could help. One minor glitch that I’ve noticed is during loading screens, or in another tab ( of the game ), you can still hear dragon wing beats, and when you play the game for 30 minutes straight it gets a little obnoxious.
But this game has so much potential! I’m in love with the concept, the this app, and the mechanics, but it just needs some tweaks here and there. Thank you Ludia! :)

I LOVE what you have so far, but I have some ideas that would make the game EVEN BETTER. First, add more dragon species. I feel like you left out some of the more well-known ones, like the Death Song, the Hobblegrunt, the Scauldron, and the Snaptrapper. Maybe even add the ability for toothless and light fury to breed and make night lights, and you could also add some of the this app from rescue riders and the nine realms. I was also thinking that there should be a way for you to see your this app life size in AR. Maybe when you open up the menu for one of your this app, there would be a little button next to their name tag that looked like a camera, and that would take you to AR mode. In AR, you could interact with the dragon like you do normally, but you could also take pictures. There might also be a button to allow your dragon to fly in place, like when you’re fighting it, and also watch it use its special ability. Just throwing some ideas around! 😁
