Simple and reliable

I’ve been interested in Gregorian Chant for years, and I’ve only quite recently starting to learn the language it’s all written in: Latin. As such, not only am I very ignorant with respect to vocabulary but also a whole lot of grammar. LatinWords has a really cool feature where you can type in any form of (what I assume to be) just about every word, and it will not only give you the root word’s definition, but also the noun case/conjugation, etc. That’s really helpful for being able to understand what you’re reading, versus having to get the root word and fiddle through a bunch of pages (because Latin seems to have practically millions of word forms) to find the exact form of the word you see and then try to decipher it. LatinWords does the hardest part for you, and leaves the most interesting part to you.

Nice for what it does, but...

LatinWords is nice for what it does, but it limits you to five words in a phrase (and yes, I have paid for the upgrade). Also, it will not proceed if there is any punctuation (e.g. period, comma). Furthermore, an internet connection is required. An old Latin parser app I had didn't limit the words, didn't make me scroll for every word, didn't care about punctuation, and didn't need an internet connection. Again, LatinWords is nice for what it does but it would be so much better with these issues addressed.

Settings Glitch

If you, unfortunately, go into Settings, you will be locked into it. Once there, there is no exit from Settings. The only thing one may do is get out of the program and close it. Then it will reopen to the default screen. Just stay out of Settings.

Solid App

Unlike most of the Latin Translators LatinWords translates almost to perfection, in the time I had it it has been a life saver, I would definitely recommend LatinWords to anybody who is struggling with Latin or just wants to double check there work. 5 stars all the way!

Works Occasionally

LatinWords is an amazing app however it tends to be extremely inconsistent. I will try to define a word and a message saying check your connection shows up. I know i have decent wifi so i don’t know what the problem is.

It’s a usable parser

I don’t really like parsers because they do the thing I’m good at (parsing) and under all their parsing, it’s sometimes hard to find what I need (the definition) but not so here! The definition is big and bold and the parsed info is presented small below for those who want it (while the rest of us can easily ignore it).

Really needs accents and some extra detail

LatinWords is really good, but it just really needs some extra things

1. Accents, it’s really hard to tell which conjugation some verbs are (for someone just learning)

2. If you don’t want to add accents, at least add what conjugation/declension the verb/noun/adjective is in

Great App

I love LatinWords, because of one simple fact: All other latin translators are terrible, but this one is great. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t translate sentences. LatinWords makes studying latin much easier.

Very helpful!

I’m a current Latin student, and it’s helpful that I can type in any form of a verb or noun and LatinWords will tell me if it’s an ablative noun or a present perfect verb. The only problem I have is that it crashes after a while, but otherwise I love LatinWords.

Simple & Marvellous

Truly an indispensable part of any classical student’s arsenal; this dictionary is a barebones, no-nonsense aide to master reading & understanding the language.

It does not reward indolence, yet speeds up the job of the amateur translator for thorny words while offering suggestions for tense/case/declension.

Simple & marvellous.

Stopped working

I loved this until it stopped working. Forever loading. I’m not sure if it’s LatinWords or my connection, but this makes me sad.

Great App

I could not find a reliable translator, but I was incredibly relieved once I stumbled upon LatinWords. It functions wonderfully and serves any purpose you may desire.

By

Missing utinam

It means may or would that, particle used with subjunctive in wishes.

Annoying

Just put a good review but it’s not working it keeps freezing up and it says I do not have internet connection and I do!
