About WORDsearch Bible

While you are reading your Bible, we will show you pertinent cross reference information from your commentaries, dictionaries, and study Bible notes as you change your current verse location.

Read from our extensive library, or study God’s Word with our powerful, yet easy-to-use, Bible study tools.

The WORDsearch Bible app helps you read, study, and share the Word of God more effectively.

Touch a Bible reference in any book, and instantly read the verse or jump into the full Bible.

You can read all of your books without downloading them! You no longer have to use your device's storage space to consume all of your WORDsearch content.

The Holman Christian Standard Bible translation comes fully installed and integrated into the app.

Scripture references are linked to your favorite Bible - tap on a link, and the Bible text will pop up for you.

When you open the app, it will automatically open your last read book instead of showing you the library screen.

Highlight meaningful passages or copy/paste them into an in-app study note.

Best of all, if you’ve previously purchased any books from WORDsearch, you can access almost all of them here.

While reading you can either scroll the page or switch to swiping and have a paging experience.

You can create bookmarks, highlights, and notes anywhere in your content.

All you need is an Internet connection to take advantage of streaming.

You can disable this feature in the app settings.

Bad Support and Buggy Product

The Good: You can access some (not all) of your library. You can read the books fine. Navigation works for most (not all) of your books. You can download books and avoid or minimize using your mobile internet access for that. The bad: Crashes. Buggy. Title searches are exact match only. Text searches only search the content you downloaded. Text searches are any verse with any of the words you typed that it can search for. You cannot search for “and”, “or”, or “not” and several other small words. If you search for “love joy” you get all the references to anything that contains love and joy, so if you only wanted to see items that contained both love and joy, you have to go through all the results to find them yourself. On my device there are only about 70,000 results for that search! The following return the same results: “love joy”, “love and joy”, “love not joy”, etc. (proving that it ignores words like “and”, “not”, etc.). So to summarize - if you want to read your library on the go, WORDsearchBible will probably work for that for most of your books. But if you want to do too much more than that, use your PC or maybe another mobile app that lets you do real searches and facilitates in-depth study on the go.

Renewed interest in Digital Study

For a long time, study of scripture and books by authors writing about biblical aspects was purely a "dead tree" format for me.

I tried digital study when it first began to become a reality, but it frustrated me more than helped.

I am extremely happy to say that with WORDsearch I am finding a new groove in my bible study and love how I can acquire new writings for additional study.

Using WORDsearch has also completely changed HOW I do my studies! Rather than being so focused on reading passages and then going back for cross references and related studies, I find it much easier to simply click on the areas I wish to dive into and get the info I'm looking for in real time.

Seeing the original Hebrew text and the definitions in Strongs for example as I read each passage has totally changed how deep I study and how much I learn.

I still have a lot to learn about the software but I'm thrilled with it so far.

My only advice is that if you are doing a lot of study, you may want a second monitor. My 17" laptop is great, but once I have more than 4 windows open, it becomes harder to manage.

And that's my 2 cents (or shekels as we'd say in the Old Testament).

A Few Quirks

I really like the software. It could be easier to use. For example, I would like the same screen to greet me every time I open WORDsearchBible on my computer. But ‘Notes’ won’t stay put. I have to open it and rearrange/resize windows every time. Support has confirmed that feature is not supported, which I find strange, since I would think I’m not the only one who takes notes! Also, the commentaries in the mobile app (at least the Wiersbe “Be” series) have only one print size available—minuscule.

Just Alright

I have used the LifeWay apps for teaching and study. All of them have the same flaw. If you highlight a section, you can’t add a note to that section unless you delete the highlight. You can write the note first, then highlight, or you can add the note nearby. It would be nice to have the option to do both at the same time. Additionally, the scroll/page turn navigation needs to be something that can be set for one or the other. It is really annoying to be scrolling through a chapter and suddenly have everything jump around on me because I accidentally touched the screen. I then waste half a minute trying to find my place again.

I am thankful for you app

I am thankful for your app in that it allows me to read my books for my classes through Liberty University anywhere. I also enjoy the free books you offer and I have purchased some also. On thing I would like is page numbers. If the author refers back to a specific page it’s hard to find where they are talking about. So if there could be a way to add the page numbers that would be wonderful. Overall thank you for what you all are doing to help us learn and grow our relationship with God Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Needs to be closer to the desktop version

I tried to like WORDsearchBible but it is not as nice as the desktop app. With the iPad version, they should be able to make it closer to the desktop app, especially when you look at the computational power of the iPad Pro For those needing parallel Bibles, this one limits you to 2 because it can only split the screen once. At least you can search a book or your whole library which is good and it does detect when you don't have wifi so that it'll only search your downloaded content. I was trying WORDsearchBible on a 12.9" iPad Pro but I think I need to get the Microsoft Surface tablet and use the full version of the Wordsearch Bible application instead of the iOS app.

Love this APP

I have read a lot of the negative reviews. I really don't understand what the hangup is here. When I bought WORDsearch they let me know upfront that some of the books would not be available in WORDsearchBible . I would like to see more of the books available on the iPad, but it still has enough for me to do my sermon prep and study. Anytime then I need help I can call tech-support and they are on it. I use this appalong with my computer to do most of my sermon prep and study. I'm not at all disappointed.

Pretty good but...

I agree with other reviewers about WORDsearchBible being ok but not as good as others. I'm thinking of PocketBible app which I've used for a while.
WORDsearchBible is not as intuitive or user friendly. It's cumbersome to change books and navigate within a book. I find the sync feature to be inconsistent.
To use a car metaphor; WORDsearchBible is like driving in manual transmission after driving automatic transmission.
However the desktop version is still well designed.

Good app could do with a little updating

I like the WORDsearch app, I use it frequently for reading. I find it difficult to use as I listen to a sermon and take notes. For that I use another Bible app even though I have used WORDsearch / Quickverse for many years. The ability to have notes open and link to passages would make WORDsearchBible ideal for me.

Has great potential.

The search engine does not exclude verses that do not have all the words in them so the results get really long. For long search results, you have to scroll through the huge list just to get to the verse that you know is somewhere towards the end of the Bible and you can only scroll through so many verses at a time before you have to wait for the next portion of the list to load. So, it gets really cumbersome to find verses you want. Other than that I like WORDsearchBible better than YouVersion.

Good but updates for Mac as slow coming

Have used WORDsearchBible for several years now and am locked in since I have too much invested in the library to change. Main issue is that I use a IMac and WORDsearch is very slow...months behind...in updating. Love the simplicity on the IMac for using but is much more difficult on a IPad Pro. Just hoping that tech will get better but the last couple updates have been painfully slow. I use the product daily and like it.

Superb Bible Software

I've been a user of this software since it was first introduced. I read some of the "negative" reviews about WORDSearch and was confounded by some of the comments. I have several Bible programs and WORDSearch is always my "go to" program. There are lots of of good programs out there and each is designed with a particular task or user in mind but WORDSearch is the BEST overall - by far!!!

Good but could be better

WORDsearchBible is good but could be a little better. I own the WORDsearch 11 and would like to be able to access all of that content through WORDsearchBible as well. I do not carry my laptop with me everywhere so when I want to access my WORDsearch 11 when I am not home it is impossible. Please fix this issue.

No audio playback

There is no audio playback capability which greatly lengthens the time required to study the material. Spent 7 hours yesterday reading and highlighting 5 chapters. That’s only half of the required reading for the week and I have other classes to study for. Thankfully they use apps that have audio playback.

The apps that have audio playback are so much better for actually retaining the material because you can read and listen and highlight and then listen again and again to ensure retention.

TRULY DISAPPOINTING

WORDSearch Bible 11 no longer works on iPad Pro.
LifeWay just keeps making WORDsearchBible worse and worse. Does this now mean I can no longer access thousands of dollars worth of previously-purchased resources?
————————————————

A DISAPPOINTMENT. WS is not getting one more red cent from me until they fix this ...and this is coming from one who has spent thousands of dollars on their software. They advertise titles that will not work on iPad but fail to mention this prior to purchase. THEY NEED A NEW DESIGN TEAM TO WIN BACK THE TRUST OF THIS FORMER LOYAL CUSTOMER!
------------Why does Lifeway keep shooting itself in the foot with updates that only worsen the problem? Get a clue WS Team -you have lost credibility and are only making matters worse!---------
Years continue ticking AND NO IMPROVEMENTS. This once reputable app continues failing with meaningless and useless updates that only diminish WS's credibility. What is wrong with the team at @ WS?
