I was a this app babysitter for over a year. I started sitting when Wyndy first came out and LOVED it. I recommended Wyndy to soooo many people (sitters and parents). However, sitters are now payed less than the hourly rated posted by the parents. For example, I had a family I had babysat for through Wyndy for over a year. I had always been paid $20 an hour, and then one day my rate dropped to $17. I talked to the mom about it. She showed me her this app account and told me she didn’t change the rate. Then I contacted this app support. It took multiple emails for me to get an answer. Their pathetic response was that “well sitters have always been guaranteed that they will receive the rate that is shown.” All of this to say parents think they are paying sitters a certain amount of money, but sitters are receiving less. I’ve found out through other parents that parents can not post a job for less than $12 an hour, but sitters are seeing jobs for $10 an hour on their side of Wyndy . If you’re a babysitter, I recommend finding other ways to babysit such as through Facebook groups because what started as a great app has turned into such a rip off for sitters.
I wish I could give 3 1/2 stars. I love the ability to try to find babysitters when this can be a difficult task. I have used Wyndy successfully once. However I hate the fact that we cannot communicate with a this app or have any contact info until after they are booked, because there are some sitters who look like they would be great for the job but they decline perhaps because they are not available. I would like still like to be able to reach out to that person to find out about their future availability and also just to ask questions about their experience etc. to see if they are a good fit. But if they decline the job there is no way to do that unless I post another job in the hopes that they can book. And I don't want to have tons of different people to babysit my child I would like to find someone on a semi-regular basis. If there were some sort of inbox system in Wyndy like there is with Airbnb that would be great. Also it seems like it would be a good system for parents and sitters to post a short paragraph/bio of some sort. To summarize I am very grateful for apps like this but I think it could be greatly improved.
I love the idea of the this app app. However mine has a lot of glitches. Like text being cut off. I can not see how many jobs they have completed. I also think it needs some other things that could be helpful. It would be nice to go back and review who all you offered the job to. On my first job, there were several girls I would like to remember for next time but I couldn’t get back to that screen. Also, as a first timer, I didn’t see a clear explanation of how the system actually works. How you post a job, get interest back and then offer the job. It took me a minute to figure out all the steps to hiring.
The this app app has been useful for occasions where our go-to babysitters were unavailable. However I feel it could use some improvements. As others have commented, it is confusing to offer jobs, as a new user. I’ve also had a couple technical difficulties that this app was responsive to fix after I contacted them. Regarding the sitters, it would be nice to be able to read reviews from other parents to determine if they seem like a good fit for your children. I’d hoped we’d be able to establish repeat sitters from this app, but so far haven’t had that luck. It’s been someone new each time.
I have been a this app babysitter since soon after Wyndy launched. I love being able to meet new families and make extra money.
I have completed 50+ jobs and have never felt unsafe or uncomfortable at a families house
I am giving Wyndy 4 stars for the following reason: When Wyndy launched, babysitters were not charged, and the parents paid a small fee. As they’ve gotten bigger, this has changed. About a year and a half ago, this app babysitters got an email regarding changes and at the very bottom of the email there was a line derailing that sitters would be deducted, but not to worry “the hourly amount you see on Wyndy will always be what you get.” While this is true, it was really shady how the company went about this. If a parent posts a job for $15, you get $13 an hour. If they post for $20, you get $17. I have had parents ask me “I listed for $16 an hour, that’s what you’re getting right?” The company should be more open about the fees they’re charging, but instead they continue to say “the hourly amount you see on Wyndy is what you’ll be paid!” Honesty is the best way to do business, but this app isn’t being 100% honest here
I love the this app network! the concept is wonderful for us college students with transient schedules- especially upper level students with rotations that change week to week. This is such a wonderful tool! However, Wyndy is hard to use sometimes. Also, as a sitter- I could say “I’m interested in this job” and less than 12 hours before, still have not heard from the parents. Or the job that I had been watching, got booked and I didn’t know to be looking for other jobs in that time frame. I also have a few glitches in the personal updates section. If the developers could keep upgrading and debugging Wyndy- it would be brilliant!
Update:
A lot of the bugs have been fixed. I’d love it if you could filter out the reoccurring jobs on the main board (the jobs that parents post for the same days every week, indefinitely), or if there was something on the post indicating that it’s a repeating job. I’m usually just looking for a one-time job, and these posts can make it a little hard to find. I’d also like if you could talk to parents before you book. It’s just nice to know whose house you’re agreeing to go to before you actually accept the job. Haven’t had any bad encounters, but you never know. I’ve talked to a lot of parents that feel the same way.
Wyndy still has a lot of bugs for how long it’s been out. It crashes, or shows the wrong address/parent info if you’ve clicked on too many jobs without closing Wyndy out. It also has become very very hard to get jobs, plus the average pay rate has gone down drastically. Also, there are jobs available that are more than 30 minutes away from Samford, which just isn’t realistic. I have been able to meet great families on Wyndy , which I love, but I’d prefer repeat jobs and you don’t get a lot of that on Wyndy .
Parent review: Wyndy is amazing, and I’ve already recommended to several friends. The process is smooth and FAST (I’ve booked all my sitters so far almost instantly) and definitely beats sending out texts and waiting for responses like I used to do. All our sitters have been wonderful, and I think sourcing from a pool of local college students is a great idea. Also, this app is especially useful for someone like me who has recently moved and doesn’t have a good list of local sitters built up yet. Now I have dozens of wonderful sitters available at my fingertips!
Overall, I was thrilled when I found Wyndy - it’s exactly what I needed to book sitters and makes my life so much easier.
I love this app and Wyndy! It makes finding a babysitter so easy. Whenever I post a job I find that I have several babysitters interested within seconds.
I can choose which babysitters I would like to offer the job to and there is even a way to link up with friends on Facebook to see who they have used before. Wyndy shows some facts about each babysitter along with how many jobs they have completed and their rating. I do wish that I could see some of the reviews of the babysitter from other parents, but all in all this is a great tool. Wyndy has seriously made my life so much easier!!
I love the this app app. I have told several friends and family members (including those not living in Birmingham) about Wyndy. It is extremely convenient as a college student, and it’s also really fun! I’m grateful for the friendships i’ve made thus far being a this app. I am proud of my job, and I look forward to helping more families throughout my college career!
Wyndy itself has improved a great deal since I first joined. Most of the bugs have been worked out, but the only improvement I can suggest is being able to search for jobs by the parents names!
Be a this app! :)
I have met some of the loveliest sitters through this app and my kids have loved each one they have met. I really like the option to offer to “my Wyndys” first, so that I can re-use wyndys my children especially liked, and build relationships with wyndys beyond a one time sit. But I also really appreciate the fact that if I am in a pinch, this app is always there! I had to go to a funeral out of town last minute and my husband was able to easily book sitters to keep our normal family schedule going. Also, i had family in town last minute from
Nashville one Memorial Day weekend and we were able to go to dinner and leave the kids at home with a precious girl from a local school. My cousin from Nashville was amazed at how fast the service was and how quality the sitter was. Wyndy is easy to use and navigate. Such an incredible family resource!
Having this app as a babysitter resource has been awesome. The platform is easy to navigate and view the profiles for the sitters. In our time using Wyndy we have come to love specific Wyndys and now typically reach out to them first when we need someone, however if they're unavailable it's easy to post a job to the public board and within minutes I have multiple people offering themselves for the job. I then can go through all their profiles and see a little bit of who they are, how many sitting jobs they've done through Wyndy previously, their average rating, etc. Now that this app has expanded to so many different metro areas, I'm looking forward to the future possibility of being able to book a this app in another network when we're traveling in that area (wink wink nudge nudge, please do this because it would be AMAZING).
We have had incredible luck with this app - every sitter we have had to date has been exactly who we’d want caring for our 20-month-old daughter: Engaged, polite, on time, and personable. Wyndy mimics the process I would go through texting a list of preferred sitters (which I love - offers more preference/control while taking all the work out of it for a parent) and I also like being able to pay through Wyndy and have job details standardized/pre-loaded.
PARENT USER REVIEW:
I love Wyndy. I receive immediate interest from every job I post, and I love that I can see who my friends have hired for jobs. I also love that this app has background checked the sitters. Great for planned nights out and even better for last minute things that pop up—there will always be a qualified sitter available at the last minute! My favorite feature is that it pays your sitter automatically. I don’t have to do any math or have cash at the end of the night!!
I absolutely love Wyndy. I am a graduate student and this is a great way for me to earn money, meet wonderful families, and enjoy some less stressful time with kiddos. My only suggestion is being able to know what your overall rating is, as that currently isn’t available.
Also, when I decline a job I would like to be able to message the family and explain why.
But again, Wyndy has been exactly what I needed! I can’t believe this isn’t being used in more areas.
Absolutely obsessed with this app. I’ve never experienced a more seamless process for finding a trustworthy sitter in minutes. this app’s background check and interview process ensures you are always getting a great sitter. I also love that you can review and rate sitters based on your experiences so there’s a whole other level of accountability for parents and sitters. I wish I had known about this app a long time ago. It’s definitely a parenting game changer for sure.
I already have a part time job and am a full-time student. But as we all know, there are weeks where we are so busy we can’t stop to think and some weeks where everything is moving so slow that we wish there was something to do. Wyndy is perfect for when you have a few extra hours between classes and want to make some money. I’ve been able to pay my rent off of Wyndy alone. Thank you this app!
I have been very impressed with the this app app. I have used it and never had a bad experience. I like being able to see the star ratings of the sitters and the ability to text them to arrange meeting the children before a first job or checking availability before I post a job. It has especially come in handy when I need last minute help-I have never not found a nice sitter.
I have used this app numerous times over the past 2 years and could not be more pleased! On every occasion, our this app was very friendly, was great with our two kids (5 yr old & 3 yr old), and even cleaned up sections of our house (which is definitely not requested or required). Wyndy is very user-friendly and the response time is excellent, as we have requested babysitters on short notice many times. My wife and I are very satisfied and will continue to use the this app app!
I love being a this app sitter and I recommend it to all my friends! It’s a great way to connect with families in your area who are looking for a sitter, and my payment goes straight to my bank account. I appreciate the option to add an additional tip as well. I’ve never had a bad experience while sitting and always felt safe. Great way to make some extra $$ with a busy schedule.
