I downloaded PetBacker just as another source for my pet sitting/ Rover business. Didn’t hear anything for months and finally last week got a request. Great right? Wrong. Couldn’t give the client a quote with out getting 3 “friends and family” reviews (I have multiple reviews on other sites as well as multiple background checks). Finally got to send a quote, the client accepted and hired me within a minute. She requested overnights only, I met with her for a meet and greet and it turns out she wants a drop in visit during the day as well as the breakfast/ dinner visits that the overnight rate includes. Now there’s no way I can add this extra charge to it and I’m getting screwed (cause I can’t just leave the dogs kenneled for the whole day for 7 days) not just because of the fees but out of the money for the extra visits. I’m finishing this job and after that I am done with this app.
Update: finished the job, had PayPal added as the payment method and waited almost 5 days to get paid. And I only got paid after I complained to their “support” multiple times. Even the client I had on there was ok with going to rover for my business. Never again.

I have multiple reviews on multiple sites I offer pet sitting thru. DO NOT USE PetBacker, SITTER OR PET OWNER ALIKE, THEY DO NOT DO BACKGROUND CHECKS ON THE SITTERS.

It’s so hard to comprehend for both sitters and owners to use... there were so much confusion when they do the bookings...
and late payment awarded to sitters when there’s system glitch! Why is it that commission is deducted instantly but when there’s a short payment.. it’s two weeks and still pending?!!!!

Not to mention on your inefficient pet walking function.. countless times
getting to get the jobs starts prove to be a nightmare! The doggos would have already done their poops and pees by the time we get the pet waking WORKING! DONE AND DUSTED!

I am an established pet sitter through Rover and a 10-year veterinary professional. I am looking for more ways to build clientele. After going through the sign up process, I immediately noticed how disorganized PetBacker is. The only thing it has going for it is being able to make custom prices for different levels of service, something that I’ve wanted from Rover for a long time. But, in the agreements, they states that if someone complains and they side with the customer, basically they aren’t going to pay you. Period. In the very next line they explain that you’re not an employee of this app. Oh AND in the event of an emergency, YOU are responsible. What?! This is all illegal. PetBacker just wants to take 20-25% of your earnings. Don’t use, whether you’re a sitter or owner. Go to Rover.

I had worked for them for about 3 years never had an issue until one day I was caring for a ladies cat and the day she was suppose to pick him up he went missing hiding somewhere in my house I did everything I could of done informed her and the company and found the cat the next day she lied to the company said her cat was found dead in my bushes which was a lie the company never paid me for my job even tho her cat was found and given to her the next day. On top of that they didn’t pay me and they were charging me the amount they were going to pay me!!! They investigated poorly even tho I had posted pics of her pet multiple times during my care they still met her at her favor plus they take out money from your pay they take forever to pay u, they use PayPal so in order to pay u the company takes its time for yr pay to clear with them then u send the funds to PayPal and u have to wait for PayPal to clear and once it clears they charge u a fee to send the payments to yr bank account. I highly don’t recommend

I was looking for apps to pet sit and board other then Rover and this app seemed good. I spent a few hours setting up my profile and listings because their app is SO GLITCHY and outdated. Now that I’ve been approved I’ve gotten 3 requests and it’s still glitching and saying I’m not approved! Customer service also took 4 days to respond and I’m missing out on these bookings and am not even able to communicate to the owners why since they don’t allow you to communicate with them if you aren’t approved, which the system thinks I’m not.

They take a big portion of money that it’s almost not worth the hassle. They also suspend you being able to accept jobs over the stupidest things. I think once I said to an owner we can meet beforehand to make sure you trust me and they suspended me from accepting jobs. They said it’s for ‘my safety’ but I think they’re just scared about making a deal outside PetBacker and them not getting their cut. I’m pretty sure I can decide what’s safe for me or not ... you feel like you have to be so careful with what you write so you don’t get auto-banned. This is a good app to find sitters and walkers, but not if you want to earn money.

We have been satisfied with the sitters we found using this app and our dogs were well taken care of. PetBacker provides access to many verified sitters but PetBacker itself can be a bit frustrating. One sitter could only answer my questions with automated replies like “yes” or “no” until I booked her. This made it difficult to confirm she would meet our needs. Sometimes I received a message notification from the sitter, but the message would not appear in the chat until much later, or sometimes not at all. These bugs and glitches make it difficult to feel at ease when leaving your furry family. With some updates, PetBacker will be great!

The three stars is because I received quality responses to my pet sitting request and found a wonderful sitter. The site itself can be challenging to navigate. I’ve booked three times and each time I’ve had to re-input all of my pet’s information (despite having an account). There should at least be a button to click and auto fill if all pet info is the same. When prepping for travel, I want simple and fast, which isn’t provided on this site (that I can yet find). Again, overall, the site is not the most user-friendly; however, with simple changes, the site can be wonderful!

I found an AMAZING sitter for my cat, last minute. Exceeded my expectations. Love what PetBacker has to offer though it is a bit difficult to navigate. Switching between Chinese and English was difficult and also the chat didn’t always work correctly. I think if PetBacker itself was updated and fixed from bugs and added features, it would be more user friendly.

First time using PetBacker to find a Dogsitter in Europe. We found a wonderful and sweet sitter and had no issues. Just knocking off one star because it was hard to find the review function but I finally discovered it’s on the top left of the chat with the sitter.

I love pet backer because I found my dog’s sitter there and it makes it easy to have a realisable form of paying and getting the service.
If anything improve the bug fixes with the booking/ messaging system

Found a cat sitter in just a few minutes. She was reliable, professional, and relatively inexpensive. I liked that all communication and payment went through PetBacker . I plan to use this service whenever I leave town for an extended period.

I was really battling to find a sitter before I used PetBacker , but when I did I had some excellent offers within minutes. The sitter we chose was really great; our cat loved her, she kept in touch with us while we were away and we came back to a spotless house. There seemed to be plenty of other good sitters too. Would highly recommend PetBacker!

This is my second time using this app to find a cat sitter. I love PetBacker and will continue to use it. Customer service is extremely responsive and I feel completely comfortable booking care for my cat through this service. No problems at all!

Just completed my first booking with this app and there were no hiccups, nothing bad occurred, and the dog boarding was completed successfully. However, from a $900 total stay, I only got $675. They take $225 for “service fees”. This and the fact that the jobs that are presented to you are far and few between are the reasons I’m only giving this app 3 stars.

this app is an efficient way to find a pet sitter and trainer especially when desperate to house break puppies. I like their manner of doing business and will highly recommend them. Finding the right trainer and walker is like courtship where you ought to give some time to find the right match. I was lucky to find our pet trainer on the second try.

What’s nice about this particular app is the fact you can find qualified sitters in places like Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for example where it’s hard to find pet care / house sitters online. The verification process is good and even a bit more detailed than some of the more well known sites I’ve been on which was impressive. I recommend this app to sitters and the people seeking them for a positive experience!

I was skeptical at first but my kitten had an amazing time. He came home so happy and healthy, and my this app sent me photo and video updates each day while I was home in Canada & the US. Connecting with my this app and finding my kitten a place to stay was easy and efficient. I *so* appreciate PetBacker, it was a real lifesaver for me by making sure I could travel to visit my family while ensuring my kitten and a safe and wonderful place to stay. I’ll definitely use this app again. Thanks for creating the wonderful service!

This is by far the best app. I have tried to use many apps such as rover or wag and weren’t able to find a sitter. PetBacker found me a sitter third day after joining. Their sitters are usually people who are responsible and have families and obligations; which is a plus for us as we like to leave our dog with someone who can be responsible. The process of hiring and paying was also very easy and straight forward. Good thing is that you can negotiate with your sitter on PetBacker and agree on a price. We will definitely be using PetBacker again.

I love how I can adjust my own services to what I want to specifically offer. I added emergency transportation to a vet if needed when an owner can’t take their pet to the vet. I believe that will come in real handy. PetBacker is great if you want to accept jobs that unique to fit your needs. A++++
