Decent now, update or two away from great

First, it seems that many of the graph issues that people were complaining about have been resolved. I ran a test with multiple probes soon after getting it. I was able to view the entire three hour test session graph and multiple probe readings without issue. I also didn't have any problems with BBQGo crashing or losing the connection to my iPad.

Three things that I wish would be added in future updates:
1. It isn't formatted for the iPad. It's the smaller iPhone size and you have to expand it to the iPad screen. There are brackets where the window isn't filled. Not a clean look. (No issues using it on my iPhone).

2. I wish it would support landscape or horizontal viewing. I want to be able to have my iPad or iPhone use a stand and see BBQGo without turning my head sideways. It would be easier to view the graph.

3. It would be nice to be able to save, export, or print data. That way I could reference previous sessions on the smoker for future cooks.

Overall BBQGo is adequate for basic use. I'm generally pleased so far with the functionality, especially when considering the cost of the Inkbird its paired with.

App freezes and reboots everytime

I have enjoyed your product since I received it 2 weeks ago, and I have cooked 5 times using it.
However, everytime, the BBQ GO (V 1.7.9) application is failing on my iPhone. (I have iPhoneX, iOS 12.1.2)

It works for a few hours, but when I move between apps on my phone, the BBQ GO app freezes-up and reboots. Then all my previous temp data is erased!

This is a problem for me since when cooking a beef brisket, I am making decisions about the temperature performance over-time to decide when in “the stall” and when to wrap my brisket for finishing.

I like the convenience of this product, but if you depend on BBQGo for performing the products key functions, then BBQGo needs to be more stable to deserve any better rating than 1-star.

Other comments:
POSITIVES:
Battery life was great. Started at 76% charge and finished at 50% after a 12hr cook!
I like the red digital LED display. Easy to read.

NEGATIVES
Alarm needs to change. We need the following changes:
1. Should be able to mute the alarm on the main unit.
(I can set my phone to vibrate, but the alarm outside still sounds—- not good for a 5am cook and waking up my neighbors and family!)
2. We should be able to choose a pleasant iPhone alarm sound, instead we are forced to only hear your loud beeping -it sounds like a smoke detector! (And I can’t choose any other options on my phone besides vibrate. )

Great device but app needs work

I've used this for a handful of cooks and over all it works great but BBQGo has issues. There is no option to alter temp alarms with out clearing all the temp data. BBQGo will also randomly wipe the temp data clean if it glitches which is a couple times over the course of an 8 hour cook. The unit should just record data nonstop and let the user clear as they please.

Also, an alarm will keep alarming even after the acknowledge. This is a problem if you set an alarm to know when a mid point temp is reached because you have to deactivate the alarm and clear your temp history or keep acknowledging the alarm until you are done. Again, a poorly thought out app with limited use.

It’s better than what I had.

The good:The temperature monitoring is perfect. I can use my phone or the transmitter to see real time temp data.
The Bad: the graphing appears to randomly select the range, high and low temp, for the graph and it appears to select the time frame at random, sometimes 45 min other times and hour but not 12 hours.

After reading some of the other reviews it sounds like if you modify a set point or alarm range the trend restarts. Or if you loose connection the trend restarts. I would prefer that the trending started when the device is turned on and stops when the device is turned off. Have the ability in BBQGo to review the data or possibly export a CSV file? Every time the transmitter is turned on it starts a new trend data entry. I would understand gaps in data when your device was out of range because I assume there is limited on board memory for the transmitter. It would also be nice to be able to overlay the trend data, overlay the 4 or 6 channels on one trend.

To sum it up, it is better than what I had but could use a few tweaks to make it awesome.

Ehhh

This works more like and instant read thermometer. I’ve been using this for several months, coming over from a Weber iGrill. The Weber app stored data to see the overall cook. The alarm would only go when it was set. Did what I wanted it to. I “upgraded” to the Inkbird bc I wanted the 4 probes and was hoping for similar, if not better app options. I also got my neighbor one thinking it would be great. BBQGo leaves you wanting more. App data clears out so I can only see 30 minutes of cook graph, the alarms continuously go off even after you clear them. BBQGo needs to store data to see the whole cook. If I’m cooking a brisket, what’s 30 minutes? If not upgrades, I’ll probably go back to my single iGrill or upgrade to something better.

Two or three stars. Hard to decide

It is a useable app but it lacks refinement to make it truly useable. A few major complaints that I wish were addressed:

-graphs reset every time phone connection is lost. If you’re watching for stalls or trends one lost connection and all data is lost. If data is missed why not just die the gap if backfilling isn’t possible?

-no option to set a do not disturb for alerts

-no options to set a specific sound for the alerts. On the bright side you will never miss the klaxon that goes off everything a temp is exceeded

-setpoints cannot be edited mid cook without selecting a new preset. Doing so removes all cook data.

Honestly is useable but it could be so much more useful with some finish touches. Right now it’s really an instant read thermometer with an alarm. Based on BBQGo I think I would look elsewhere if buying again but it’s not bad enough to abandon.

-no option

So much low hanging fruit unpicked

The graph function would be amazing. As written, it’s largely useless. You cannot control the length of time it shows you, and most of the time it goes back a few minutes at most which is rarely useful. This would be such an easy fix. I’m unsure why someone wouldn’t spend thirty minutes improving this feature. I could go on but other reviews mention everything simple that goes underdeveloped. This would earn a B in a programming class, but isn’t really commercial-ready.

Needs a better app

The actual inkbird thermometer is fine, but BBQGo needs to be updated with some basic features. Tracking and saving the entire cook sounds pretty basic, but is sorely missing from BBQGo . Triggered and silenced alarms should only trigger again when the temperature threshold is crossed again, not if it stays outside the set threshold, or at least allow for that as an option. I know we can do better, because there are apps out there that are better.

App wipes data when phone sits idle locked

Whats the point in even having the graph to know how your cooks going If it doesn’t constantly read data? I’ve never lost connection yet I went to sleep and woke up and my graph data was erased. No cloud no stored data, it just erased the data. It’s as if as soon as my phone went into sleep mode the graph erased itself. The ibt-4XS should be able to at least store data while it’s not being constantly monitored by the phone.

Really want to like this

I think this has the ability to be a great bbq tool but the developers haven’t updated BBQGo in over a year. Fix the plot function so it doesn’t reset all the time you change something so you can see whole cook. Add more labels and lines to the y scale so it has smaller increments of temp. See if there is a way to add a save function for the plot even as just a picture to photos. I loved the hardware I got with my inkbird IBT-6XS but please fix BBQGo to make it more useable.

Change the Alarm!!

I would give BBQGo and the device 5 stars because they work very well... perfect cooking every time. BUT when the temperature set alarm goes off it sounds like my smoke detector in the house! And, when you acknowledge the alarm it’s like a snooze and goes off again and again... very annoying!! Why can’t I select a more desirable tone from my phone? Why can’t I just turn the alarm off once?!?!

Near useless

The thermometer itself seems to work as it should, but I bought it because I wanted to be able to see the temp trends for my cooks on BBQGo . Well BBQGo disconnects wiping out the entire temp history multiple times over the course of a cook, despite only being maybe 20 feet away. Alarm on the thermometer continues to sound even after being acknowledged on BBQGo . Just a very poorly executed attempt. Hopefully nothing an update couldn't fix, if they ever get around to doing it.

Good app and device

I am very happy with my thermometer and BBQGo. It has helped when my censor in the electric heater quit working properly. The main suggestion I would have for BBQGo is to work it out where it can be displayed on a smart watch. I have an Apple Watch and it would be awesome to be able to view the temps on the watch.

Don’t know why this hasn’t been fixed

It reads well and has good connectivity when I’m inside, overall a good product and app, except for one huge feature failure. Why not chart data throughout the cook? What good is reading data that resets every 30 min to an hour? On long cooks it’s nice to see where temp dips or stalls. BBQGo has potential but this is a big down side, which apparently won’t be fixed as it’s been noted for years.

Good companion app, some improvements sugggested

(1) App should be updated more frequently. App does not use the full screen size of newer iPhones so it looks ugly on newer phones. Seems Inkbird has abandoned BBQGo unfortunately.

(2) App should have option to keep screen from going into power save mode so I can watch temps without having to unlock the phone frequently.

(3) Widget support would be great for temperature monitoring! Recent versions of iOS support widgets that you can drag and drop to different parts of the screen to display app-specific information.

(4) Please support iPad. This isn’t a “must have” but it would be nice to have full screen view on my iPad.

Glitchy

It works but it fails every so often during a smoke and you lose all the data. Cook time, temp progression, etc. The set temperatures remain, but you still need to periodically bring up BBQGo (even if it’s been continually open in the background) to reset it - or it may not have received the current temp from the transmitter to alert you to your set/done temp

No development

I’ve had the thermometer and app for close to 2 years now and there have been no updates to improve functionality. My biggest complaint it the graph. It does not show temps over ~250°F. I’ve also had issues with BBQGo resetting if I don’t switch to it occasionally. I would like to see customizable graph ranges and better reliability.

One Suggestion

For the most part it works as I would expect. I have one suggestion that I believe would really help with the preparation of the timing of a meal. In conjunction with the graphing function, it would be a great help to estimate the time at which a meal will reach the desired temperature. This would allow the user to determine the time to start other parts of a meal such as cooking tender vegetables.

By

Almost there!

Easy customizable app. Stays connected pretty well for me. BUT, the temp graph needs to record the entire cook! Not just 30 minutes. How long has the brisket been at the stall during an overnight cook? Knocked off a star for that. Also, if you could change the sound or volume of the alarm that would be awesome.

Inkbird Thermometer The Best Ever

Won a Inkbird 6 probe in a giveaway on Instagram. Since having this I’m able to cook more meats without doing much guessing or switching from probe to probe. Keep up the great work and figure out now to sync with the apple watch and my life will be completed while I bbq. 😂😂

Great app and product

Very happy with BBQGo and the hardware that it works with. Bluetooth communications are both directions. Which opens up some interesting stuff. Graphing is also nice, range or peak monitoring is great for smoking. Show all graphs on 1 screen instead of separate. Also add setting to control beeping on remote thermometer. That beep is annoying! Keep up the good work you inkbird.

Timers erase

Great device, BBQGo is almost perfect, but it erases my timers which is one of my favorite features. Every so often I look to check my timers on the meat I am smoking and they keep being cleared. Luckily I’ve been using other timers outside of BBQGo as a precaution. If the timers worked consistently I’d give this 5 stars.

Look it's a good app and works well.... until it doesn't. It falls over and resets the data at some point through every low n slow cook. That, is incredibly annoying. Make it stop please. Stop tripping over itself that is. It already stops, that's why I'm complaining....

Wont pair to phone, please turn on bluetooth on top of screen when blue to os on
