The latest update which adds carpooling, totally breaks the functionality I’ve enjoyed for years. First of all, I was forced to switch from the MNR dedicated version to this generic version because the verification email links only point at this version’s App Store page, not the version I’d actually been using. Secondly the verification emails don’t open onTime . Therefore onTime never gets the notification that the email address is verified. Instead, the verification emails always open the link to onTime Store. When pressing the open button in onTime Store takes me to onTime but doesn’t cause the email verification to complete. I’ve tried it a dozen times, with it feeling 100% of the time. This new version also refuses to hold my default route. I have to bring up one of my favorite routes in order for it to open anything. Previously when I would open the this app app, it would show my default schedule. Now I have to explicitly select it every single day. If you have not yet upgraded, for the love of all that’s good, please do not do so. Developer, please fix this rubbish.
The reliability of knowing what track the train comes in on is about 45% right. There should be no reason why they can’t get this right but then again this is LIRR on a good weather day they have switch problems never mind drizzle, snow and can you believe wind is a factor.... get real lirr. With all our money per month spend some on your infrastructure and get better supervisors to keep your men from hiding and sleeping in dark corners we see them out there.
None of the trips that I had previously saved will show up. Completely useless. Why do they screw around with things after it was working fine. Can’t even find the schedule anymore.
the new update (and subsequent "fix") has made onTime so crowded with ads that there is no bandwidth left for actual useful train information.
The train timelines and track information takes longer to load than the ads for Lyft and i have not seen any accurate information nor track numbers
This update is terrible and i will go elsewhere for my train info.
An example of how unhelpful onTime is - i was on a train to Stamford scheduled to arrive at 7:04 pm and onTime said it was 31 minutes late - it was 7:06 and we were PULLING into the Stamford station - talk about the absolute opposite of being accurate!
This new app update is terrible! Much harder to read the new font and the countdown timer is missing - it was really helpful to know how long it was until the train left.
Also, onTime doesn’t seem to remember my favorite station pairing. I have to input it every single time I use it now. C’mon, people! Fix this!
The ride/discover/stops feature is so annoying! I’d like to just click on the train I want without these extra steps and clutter on the screen. The ad is also very annoying.
I’m not impressed with the upgrade.
Latest version of onTime shows ads when you charge stations in the station selector. That’s absolutely the worst time to force customers into a full-screen ad, because they are trying to make the next train.
Apart from that, onTime is reasonable.
My issue with onTime is that when it gets updated, it becomes either the best or worst app in the world. One minute it is accurately predicting train times and the corresponding track, other times it just doesn’t know what’s going on. Right now it’s good but God knows for how long
I used onTime for commuting home from GCS and for the most part it is accurate. Sometimes it gave me the wrong track number and I had to hopped off the wrong train after the announcement of stops and barely made it to the correct train. onTime is still accurate, however, it is wise to check the board in the station for the track number.
Too many clicks, confusing labels and more importantly, inaccurate info (late trains are indicated as on time). Big bug: app shuts down anytime I click “yes” to the question “are you on this train”.
Like the layout and it’s “alerts”. Easy to plan trips. Wish all apps were this intuitive. My only challenge - it’s a bit cluttered in appearance but once you know how to use it the clutter isn’t an obstacle.
Seemingly, with every update favorite pairs are lost and need to be recreated. Shouldn’t have to do that every time an update is released. Thanks for looking into a fix for that!
Info is up to date and reliable. However sometimes can’t get information when it’s necessary to transfer from one branch to another.
Whenever I go away from onTime and go back, it always reloads and erasing the route I was looking at before and goes back to a default.
I like the predictions for the tracks that are 95% accurate. It’s that 5% that sends me running. But overall it’s a very brilliant app. I believe the people live near me that came up with a great idea.
So far I’m really liking onTime. I got frustrated with NJT app not working and new there must be something better. onTime is it when it comes to schedules. It automatically detects what station I’m closest to and shows me the schedule for the train line I’m interested in (you set settings for train line you want). Supposedly it will push me notifications on significant delays but thankfully I haven’t run into any yet. It also “predicts” what track your train is arriving on which is great for commuters at NY Penn Station where it’s a mad dash for the train once they show the track on the screen in the station.
I like using this method. I use the LIRR infrequently but this seems to never fail me. I can’t attest to on time trains, but this schedule app works fine for me.
This is really an incredibly awesome app! onTime was able to predetermine what track the train was going to be on before the actual announcement and it guaranteed me a spot on the train. Gotta say the developers did an awesome job with this new version. I actually pay for the yearly subscription to support them because onTime is really incredible at getting the times and helping me get to work daily. Kudos to the developers on really making onTime incredible!
My go to app for train schedule
onTime is perfect!!! I am a daily commuter into NYC from Long Island onTime even though not connected to the MTA provides better updates & information than the MTA! The track assignments are always correct which help beat crowds and get a seat and the times couldn’t be more accurate. Even if you see a mistake with the schedule and you refresh it the mistake will usually be fixed! I definitely recommend onTime to anyone who needs an easier commute! Keep making great updates.
