Life Changer

I tell everyone I meet about SamsungFood. SamsungFood literally saved me hundreds of dollars and so much time. Grocery shopping is a breeze now. I love how I can add and save recipes from any website. The “share list” option and “invite to list” option is super helpful when sharing grocery responsibilities with spouses, kids, roommates, etc., or even sharing with elderly parents who may not call to ask for things but need a couple of items. Whisk is completely customizable in that you can add your own collections of recipes to self-created groups (similar to Pinterest). I’ve been using Whisk for about a year now and wish I had it my whole life. THANK YOU to the developers of SamsungFood, and more importantly, thank you for recognizing how life changing SamsungFood is and making it free to use. Ps In no way am I paid by or represent Whisk developers, I am simply very satisfied and thankful for this tool.

This app is everything I’ve been looking for!!!

If you’ve ever switched from multiple apps where you’ve saved recipes to then add the ingredients you need to buy to a list on yet another app & wondered if there was an easier way, SamsungFood is for you!! It’s literally everything I’ve been looking for & more!

I love that you can add recipes from any link & also add in your own (highly recommend adding your favorite recipes from your favorite cookbooks)! You can add a picture, notes, change the serving size & best of all, you can add the ingredients to your shopping list in one click! You can even add ingredients to the shopping list that aren’t in any of your recipes, which is so helpful. Literally everything you need all in one place!

I’m obsessed!! Such a time saver that brings joy - the ingredient emojis are so cute! SamsungFood feels so intuitive & I’m such a fan.

Bug coupled with good-for-nothing support team.

Whisk was so great until a bug that prevents me from editing a recipe popped up some weeks ago. I sent in a ticket as you do when you notice something not quite right with SamsungFood , and I got a response telling me that the bug had been identified and would be fixed in the next version.

Great, right? They seem to update SamsungFood every week or so, therefore the issue was bound to be fixed soon. Upon opening Whisk after a hot minute, you can imagine my confusion when I saw that the bug was not fixed after multiple weeks had past and more than a couple updates had happened. I sent in another ticket, and from the same person as last time, I got the exact same response — that the bug had been identified and would be fixed in the next version.

I got nothing in response to the fact that I'd already sent in a ticket a while ago and the issue was supposed to be fixed numerous versions ago, just essentially the exact same thing as the first time around. Weird and irritating.

Best App Ever

I’ve never rated an app. I’ve just never cared or appreciated them that much(I’m a horrible person), but SamsungFood is life changing!
Cooking for a family of 4(2 teenagers and a husband that works manual labor), food is a big deal and trying to plan dinners that are healthy and not out of a box daily becomes challenging and/or seriously expensive if you do it wrong. I’ve been keeping browsers open eternally to maintain recipes, manually writing grocery lists and planning them out which takes a ridiculous amount of time and effort. SamsungFood does it all! Holds my recipes, combines all ingredients, makes my shopping list.. Whoever made SamsungFood is a genius or were living the same struggle as me because I’ve never loved anything more!
Thank you for making this awesome app! I am telling all my friends!

Great potential but super clunky right now

SamsungFood is beautiful - the front end/UI team did a great job. It feels like it will be really amazing someday, but for now - functionality leaves a lot to be desired. A few of the more frustrating items:

Changing the desired serving amount, saving, then adding recipe to Planner doesn’t preserve the adjusted serving amount.

Changing the servings and adding recipe to shopping list doesn’t preserve the adjusted ingredient amount, so shopping off that list will get you the wrong ingredient amounts.

From the Planner, when you click a day then add recipe, you have to scroll through every recipe you’ve saved. There is a search function which is great if you already have your meals planned, but not being able to filter by collection makes filling out the planner way more time consuming than it has to be.

Shared grocery list doesn’t show who added an item, making it difficult if there are any questions about the item.

Grocery list doesn’t allow any changing of item categories or creation of custom categories. Example: coconut milk gets sorted into dairy/eggs, which it is neither. Several common ingredients get filed under “uncategorized” with no option to change it.

The list goes on. I’m sure it’ll be fantastic at some point, but for now there’s a whole lot of extra work and extra taps to get things done, which for me is inefficient.

Wow, Just Wow

You know when you’ve been using an app for so long, you’re unaware of the advancements in the genre? Well that was me up until about a week ago. I was using an app for years that decided to not support iOS anymore so when I updated, I couldn’t access it online. The hunt began and I found Whisk. Wow! It’s everything and more. I can’t recommend this enough (and have been to everyone who will listen-lol). A solid 5 stars but I have one question and one suggestion: the nutrition info doesn’t match the recipes from online but that doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. I’d just like to know how they’re computed. My suggestion is: it would be great if I could somehow bulk upload because I’m transferring from another app.
Gosh, I absolutely love SamsungFood (and the web version).

Obsessed. Like life changing.

Just downloaded SamsungFood last week and am truly obsessed. Not only was the interface beautifully designed, but it was a breeze to sync my favorite recipes I had saved on Pinterest, and turn them into shopping lists (+ SamsungFood automatically updated serving sizes and grocery qtys with ease). It was also super simple to integrate my shopping list over to instacart... and then my groceries arrived within the hour. Concepting, shopping, and cooking has never been so easy, and with minimal time in my busy day, I need apps like this to delegate to, in order to maximize efficiency. This has quickly become part of my weekly routine. I love Whisk, and have been telling all my friends about SamsungFood . 5 stars all around.

Wonderful app

I have been using Whisk for a week and what I like most is that i can add my own random recipes and get the nutritional calculations and healthy score. Can make adjustments to the recipe based on the results to suit my needs.

One improvement you can make is provide a way to scan nutritional labels of some ingredients. I am Asian Indian and cook with lot of native ingredients that are not recognized by SamsungFood .

If SamsungFood has a way for me to upload a picture of the nutritional facts sheet on the package, that can not only build the scope of SamsungFood to understand new ingredients, but also help people like me to create new recipes and see if they are healthy or not

Good, but with annoying functions

This is a decent app for saving and organizing recipes. However it's full of annoying features when it comes to customizing them for yourself. For example if a pie crust recipe calls for "6 - 8 Tbps. of cold water" it won't save it as thus; it automatically changes it to just "6 tablespoons water." Why?! It also doesn't let you edit the picture to upload to your recipe. It automatically zooms in way too close, more often that not cutting out most of the food/drink. And to add to it, you can't even click on it to view the whole thing. This may not bother most of you, and like I said it works great as far saving recipes. But these restrictions in customizing is enough for me personally to keep looking for a better app.

New to application

Just downloaded SamsungFood 10 minutes ago and already I've appreciated all aspects. For me SamsungFood covers all the issues I have with other cooking sites. The way I can add or subtract the amount of people I will be cooking for and SamsungFood changes the amount of ingredients accordingly. The shopping list let's me separate by isle in store or by individual recipe. Then I can send ingredients to my local grocery store and have contactless curbside pick up. These are just a few of many I've noticed right away. Can't wait to find out what other user friendly tools SamsungFood has.

The perfect recipe app

SamsungFood is perfect. The UX is so simple and immediate. There is no feature that I don’t use, which means SamsungFood is streamlined and simple. I love the ability to add recipes from anywhere (including NY Times Cooking).

One thing that needs improvement: I organize my grocery lists based on the grocery story layout for speedy grocery runs. Unfortunately, at the time of this reviewing, there is no way to organize the shopping list other than by aisle (dairy, fresh, etc.) or by recipe. If I could customize the order of items on the list, it would be a game changer.

Absolute best there is!

I’ve tried them all.. and this is by far my favorite. Recipes are easy to add. Meal plans are easy to make. I’m not confused when adding items to my grocery store cart.

Why only 4 stars then? Because I NEED this to be iPad compatible. My only option on iPad is to use SamsungFood and click on the “zoom” button to enlarge the iPhone-sized application to the size of the iPad. I can’t even just use the web browser, because the log in button always brings me to SamsungFood . I use my iPad then I’m following a recipe in the kitchen, so having it large and able to rotate to landscape view would quickly turn my 4 stars into 5!

Helpful, easy to use, time-saving app

I am not the kind of person to get into apps. I don’t do social media, I limit screen time severely for myself and my kids, etc.
So, coming from a person who barely uses apps and never ever writes app reviews - this is an app I will probably use everyday.
I have diet restrictions and research recipes all the time. Whisk gives me a way to quickly save good finds to a “recipe box”type list, make collections of recipes (ie dessert), easily add recipes to meal plans, and easily add ingredients to shopping lists. I’m thrilled. Even my husband is impressed.

By

Perfection

Just started the using app. On top if it being beautiful, it has support for the main features that it seems every other app has only some of: recipe import, recipe searching, meal planning/calendar, grocery list, filtering by diets and avoidances, multi-platform and web support, voice app integration, AND collaborative lists with other users.

The only downside is the lack of support for Shipt, my preferred grocery shopping app. I’m still giving it 5 stars because it’s such a minor convenience, but I really hope they add Shipt support soon.

Just needs Leftovers

Love SamsungFood! I’m recommending it to everyone. You’ll need to spend a little time setting up to input your recipes. Once you do you will be so glad you did! Creates a grocery list for you based on your weekly meal plan. I added recipes like “apples” and “pretzels” so I can put the snacks on each day and it will tell me how many fruits to buy for each weeks plan!
Just needs to add a left overs function to the weekly planner list so I can plan the whole week, currently I just have to leave gaps and remember that it’s because of left overs. I cook for 2 so most days include left overs.

Favorite meal planning app!

SamsungFood is everything I never knew I wanted in a meal planning app. I almost wish I could say I’ve tried hundreds of others and this is the best, just cause I think it’s that awesome! But I guess it’s just as good a compliment that I found it and have no need to go looking some where else. You can find recipes on SamsungFood , save them from there or from other websites or apps, assign them easily to a meal plan, AND (the best part) compile a grocery list in a sneaky little snap. Would totally recommend!

Great App to plan meals and shopping lists!

I’ve enjoyed using SamsungFood to plan means and shopping lists with my boyfriend, however there are some holes that I think could improve SamsungFood. We’ve created our own community and while we’re able to share recipes and shopping lists with each other, we can’t share our weekly meal plans. We’ve also been trying to add images to each recipe, but once the images are uploaded they are too zoomed in and cropped. It would be helpful to have a feature that allows you to edit the images once uploaded

I use to save recipes from across the web

SamsungFood does what I’ve wanted for a looong time… it lets you save/import recipes from ANYWHERE on the web. I’ve turned recipe bookmarks I’ve had for 15 years into an organized list with photos in SamsungFood.

It does it well, but also recognizes not everything is compatible (sometime you’ll get pop-up ads/videos like crazy), so it lets you one-tap load the source website in Safari to fix any issues.

I use this for recipes, weekly meal plans, and making a grocery list.

REQUEST TO DEVELOPERS: I’ll often save recipes to Meal Plan on Saturday for the following week… but it requires me to choose the day every time… can you adjust this so choosing the day is much quicker, such as having quick buttons in the pop-up for M, Tu, W, Th, F, Sa, Su so I don’t have to go into the full selection menu every time? Thanks!

Seeped in fat phobia and diet culture language

I just want an app to import my recipes in so I can cook things I enjoy. It’s incredibly gross and triggering for many to have a functionality like “health score” automatically populated for your recipes. I get it you want to provide nutritional information, but applying a moral value to something (i.e. this recipe has a BAD health score or this recipe has a GOOD health score) is not only an old school mindset, but an incredibly dangerous and disgusting path to propping up a multi billion dollar industry that thrives off of unhealthy and unproductive behavior to forever spend our lives in pursuit of losing weight. Their is no evidence that weighing less is a predictor of health. Do better Whisk and stop perpetuating a culture that profits off of a culture of fat phobia. Shame on you.

Answered all of my cooking prayers

I had been wanting to catalogue all of my recipes for a while, as they were in few different places. On a whim I found whisk - no other app could even come close to what whisk offers. It makes cooking, meal planning, and grocery shopping much more streamlined and enjoyable. Just when I think they’ve done it all, they add something to make it even better, such as the recent addition of the unit conversion tool within recipes. I am in love!

MISTER JOHNS APP IS AMAZING

Love SamsungFood so much I use this 3 times a day for all my meals! It’s very helpful to plan out all your future meals as well as recipes! It’s a must have for anyone who likes to be or is organized. SamsungFood has a page for recipes, which is extremely helpful, a planner, which is helpful for, obviously, planning. And a page for lists which you can make to remind you what to buy at the grocery store and to share with other members of your family.

So good so far

Just got SamsungFood and think it’s going to a be a huge help in coordinating Christmas menu with my family, as well as making sure we minimize the trips to the grocery story. One thing I’ll be interested to see is how it interfaces with Samsung Family Hub inventory once I get it all set up. I haven’t found the feature yet, so hope it’s there or it’s coming soon.

My new go-to recipe and shopping list app

SamsungFood allows you to import recipes and all the ingredients with just a url! You can then modify them in SamsungFood if you want to tweak things. Love the collections feature to group types of meals. The alexa integration is also key for me since I am used to adding things to my shopping list that way.

By

10/10 Recommend

SamsungFood is incredible! It not only stores recipes and ingredients straight from a link but you can add your recipe ingredients directly to a shopping list. You can use Alexa to do so as well! In addition you can add dietary restrictions or food you dislike! Also you can share recipes super easily!!🤩

So helpful!

Whisk is such a helpful app! I’m a baker and often bake recipes that are complex and have a ton of different ingredients from a few recipes. The worst is when I forgot something at the store and have to go back - whisk has solved this problem by making all my lists into one and I honestly love it. It’s a game changer in the kitchen!!

By

No different than CopyMeThat

CopyMeThat had all the same features and functions, and was unjustly removed from SamsungFood Store. This is literally the same App, only reskinned and connected with Instacart - Must be why Apple still allows it, they’re able to take a cut of the in app sales.

Stress relief

I’m not sure how many others experience this, but I find meal planning and writing a grocery list to be incredibly stressful. Whisk is exactly what I was hoping to find. Now I just select the menu I want for the week and the list is made automatically. Thank you!

The P E R F E C T recipe and shopping app!!

Try it if you don't believe me. Absolutely THE best recipe app out there. And no this is not a "fake" review. I am a serious home chef who worships Emeril-style cooking, and this is by far the most amazing app for serious cooks. No other app even comes close, even with 'premium' or subscription service. Thank you, Whisk!!

Great way to organize recipes

Whisk has been super helpful in organizing all my recipes and easily making those into shopping lists when I want to cook them. I also love being able to see the health scores for the recipes I add into Whisk. It let’s me know if what I’m cooking is heathy or not.

By

Love this app!!

SamsungFood is awesome! It’s making it so much easier this holiday to get all my shopping lists and plans for recipes together. I love that you can also add ingredients to the recipes you import so I never forget that extra twist I put on them (like adding cardamom to my favorite mulled wine recipe).

Love it, wish they had IPAD version that would flip

Great tool, love that it works across PC, laptop, phone and iPad. Wish the iPad version could be landscape so I could use easier in kitchen when cooking. Right now only can use portrait format on iPad.

Best App Ever

I absolutely love SamsungFood. I was part of the pilot and was able to give feedback and they took advice which is always awesome. It works seamlesslywith the Food Network Kitchen app which is my other fav. Thanks for the best app to help me remember everything!

It’s like Pocket for food

Finally a place where I can save all my recipes...and actually remember to use them. Love that I can share recipes too and have different shopping lists for different stores

Hi - the Shopping List is not working, it keeps coming up with "Something went Wrong". I can't get into any previously saved lists or make new ones.

Margaret Holdsworth   2 years ago

Installed app and scan to whisk. Every time I scan it says. Oops something went wrong. Asked the person who told me about the app and she got same thing. Googled and saw previous posts of this happening. How do I fix this and is the app reliable please?
