Update wiped out my prior records

The lost data is disappointing but also not really a huge deal to me since I track month to month, and the update came right around the start of September - but I did want to warn others who may have more critical data saved. Also, while the new features look nice and I would have paid a reasonable one-time fee for them, the push to so many subscription models in software is resulting in hefty annual payouts when taken together. If it’s going to be the way going forward, Apple should offer bundles - $5 a year for X many apps, $10 a year for X many additional apps, etc. Otherwise it becomes unsustainable for the consumers. Nice app though. I might keep using it, but given the lost data I may just once again go through the whole process of researching which app seems best for the money from among all those that perform this function (a process I already went through which brought me to TimelinesTimeTracking originally).

If you’re reading these, just stop here

TimelinesTimeTracking is it. IT. No ifs, ands or buts, just IT. Immaculate UI, convenient Cloud integration, iOS + iPadOS + watchOS + even *visionOS* functionality, just the right amount of customization without being overwhelming, FANTASTIC dev who is responsive and reliable and gives a ship about our experience. Sure, the UX could use a nudge in the right direction and there’s no macOS app [*cough **cough * Lukas we want a macOS app *cough *] but honestly WHO CARES, because trust me if it doesn’t have it yet, it’s coming. So why are you still reading this?
Here’s the permission you’re looking for, the justification you are seeking, the reason to trade a deduction of that number representing your net worth for premium access past the free trial.

TLDR; Just pay for it, ok. Worth it.

Timelines hits the spot

TimelinesTimeTracking is simple to learn and has features that help make time tracking less friction-full for whatever your needs and style are. For example, you can put in the details of what you are going to do during a timeline, or you can simply start the timeline and put in the details when you stop it. You can have many timelines are just a few. You will be able to analyze time spent by timeline category or by the activities you do during the running of any of a set of timelines. In other words, you can collect your data with as much specificity and forethought or as much flexibility as you like, and you can slice and dice the data you've collected to get a feel for how you're spending your life in a number of ways after - yet TimelinesTimeTracking remains simple to use. It is attractive as well, with a clean and colorful aesthetic. Finally, it works with iOS's dynamic island and focus filters, which makes it super practical to use. The watch, iPhone, and iPad data sync seamlessly in the iCloud so far for me. I think it is easily worth the subscription price for the pro features, and I use it every day.

Best productivity tracking app

I’ve used Timelines off and on for 4 years, and of all the apps I’ve ever purchased, it’s given me the most bang for my buck. Intuitive to use, simple to set up, and extremely customizable. It’s identified why I felt like I had no free time, where I was spending too much time, and how to create the life balance I needed. This sounds like a lot of benefit for a few minutes spent clicking a button each week, but seeing exactly what you do throughout the day and week is really powerful. iPhone integration is seamless and there are no ads or annoying pop ups. A true 5 star app.

Great!

Title: Efficient Time Tracking Made Easy

As someone who juggles multiple tasks and projects daily, finding an effective time tracker app has been a game-changer, and Timelines truly stands out. Its intuitive interface allows me to effortlessly track my time spent on various activities, whether it's work-related tasks or personal projects.

One feature I particularly appreciate is the ability to categorize tasks and projects, which helps me analyze where my time is being spent most effectively. The customizable reports offer valuable insights into my productivity patterns, allowing me to make informed decisions on how to optimize my workflow.

Additionally, TimelinesTimeTracking 's seamless integration with other productivity tools I use, such as calendars and to-do lists, ensures a smooth experience without any disruptions. Overall, Timelines has become an indispensable tool in my daily routine, helping me stay organized, focused, and ultimately more productive. Highly recommended for anyone looking to take control of their time management!

Beautifully effective

I am using both the watch and the iPhone apps to track time on spent on habits I’m trying to develop. So far, TimelinesTimeTracking has been quite a help toward encouraging and reminding me to carry on. The developer, Lukas, is very responsive and helpful. (I had a minor problem with multiple accounts that he easily solved.) Timelines also has good support for Shortcuts, allowing one to integrate it with custom time management apps. Note that it has a Shortcuts action to export its history, making it especially helpful for journaling. Did I mention that TimelinesTimeTracking has an attractive visual design. Overall it seems well thought-out.

Very well designed time tracking app

First review I’ve ever written and it’s because TimelinesTimeTracking has been a game changer for my visual brain (after trying so many convoluted and over-designed time tracking apps in the past). There are many different ways you can sort, view, and download data. It’s intuitive, simple yet powerful, and easy to customize and integrate with other workflows. I mainly use it to track projects and to better understand what I am spending my time working on. I am a self-employed visual artist and I have used TimelinesTimeTracking for three years, almost every day. Thank you for designing such a useful tool!

Know how you spend your time

I have been very happy with TimelinesTimeTracking. I’m not a freelancer and I don’t have to report time to my work, but I wanted to get a better idea of how long some things take, and how much time I’m spending on some personal projects outside of work. All the well known apps (Hours and Toggl for instance) are too complicated and too focused on reporting time for pay purposes.

Timelines, on the other hand, is clean, straightforward, and dead simple to setup and use. The chart is great, correcting time when I forget to add it is easy, and TimelinesTimeTracking just feels like the right level of tracking for me. I also appreciate that I don’t have to create an account on some service (like with Toggl) to use this.

Most useful app in my phone

I’ve been using TimelinesTimeTracking for 2 years now. It is honestly one of the most useful apps in my phone. I use it to track a few long term goals and it helps me understand how I am doing each week/month/year and give me motivation to keep going. I love the fact that it can automatically logs time for exercise if I record exercise session with my Apple Watch. It also has good integration with new iOS features such as widgets and keep up with updates pretty quickly. I’ve sent a few suggestions in the past, not only did I got response but also see the suggestion got implemented not too long after. Happy subscriber!

Great for Family child care providers

I am a family child care provider and I use TimelinesTimeTracking to track hours used for time/space ratio. Love that I can easily adjust times if I forget to start/stop. You can set a daily reminder to start timer. Useful as sometimes I forget to start timer in the morning as I am preparing for kids to come in. With the paid version you can create unlimited categories. Can easily export the data by month, year, weeks or even custom dates. The data calculates the hours by category and totals up the total hours for all. It is a game changer for me to accurately track the hours outside of the hours that kids are in my care.

Fantastic

Every now and again, I find an app that truly impresses me. Flexibility, utility, ease of use, etc just hit the right notes. This is one of them. The watch app is amazing, the reporting is super useful, goal setting is perfect. Except for a challenge initially signing in on my watch, it is seamless, intuitive, and powerful. With two watch taps, I can start or stop time tracking, making it easy for me to track where my time is going. In case you don’t know, that is insanely powerful in figuring out if how you’re spending your time is consistent with your priorities.

If you’ve ever wondered “where did the day go?”, TimelinesTimeTracking will help you answer that question with a minimum of effort.

Good app to stay on track

I am a collage student, who does a class load of 15 credits and also has 15 hours of working . All while being very distractible and time waster which doesn’t help that I have adhd. So I use TimelinesTimeTracking whenever I am doing a task, whether that be studying , working , or organizing my life. I find it helpful that it shows on the top of my phone screen what the task I am doing is so that I can be reminded to stay focused and I like how you can look back on what you spent your day on. The only thing I have found that I do not like about it so far is that fact that it is a subscription only plan for the pro version, I understand that everyone has to make there bag but I just don’t want another subscription added to my billing every month. I would much prefer a one time purchase option . I will most likely end up getting the subscription cause TimelinesTimeTracking has been really helpful so far.

Fun little app!

Love TimelinesTimeTracking! I’ve been using it for a few different things, depending on what the need of the day or the week is. Love that the widget lets you switch timers without opening TimelinesTimeTracking !!! Super easy to set up categories, super easy to use them for timing. I’ve used it to track my basic movement time: how much time in bed versus moving versus sitting. (I work at desk job and sit way way way way too long so using this to change my habits) I’ve also use this for categories like how long it takes to do chores around the house and/or how I feel my day when it feels like I “do nothing” but I’m super busy. Really satisfying to see how many different things I really do and get done!

Must download for the freelancer

As a freelance editor with ADHD, keeping track of how much time I spend on a file has been difficult. Those “stay focused” timer apps, while aesthetically pleasing, don’t give me the total time spent while focusing. TimelinesTimeTracking cuts out all of that fluff and “rewards” most apps give you for reaching your timed goal and gives you an accurate summary of how much time you spend in each task you label within. Going as far as to run an automation in shortcuts that turns on the tracker for each work-related app, Timelines has been the most useful app to keep track of my time.

TLDR; no nonsense app, good for people ADHD, useful for freelancers/people wanting to track time per task

Intuitive and Effective

I’ve been a user for almost two years, and initially downloaded TimelinesTimeTracking for insight into how I was spending my work day. What started as a project in understanding evolved into an effective means of justifying resource and FTE allocation. Instead of telling people how busy I was, I could, for example, demonstrate that 17% of my time was spent on a task that most took for granted as a “real quick” item.

As to the original intent, there is something incredibly gratifying in being able to look back and see all the work I’ve done. For anyone that has a job where you get to the end of the day, know you were busy throughout, but have no idea what you did, I can’t recommend this enough.

This is an excellent productivity app.

Versatile and Vibrant Tracking of Hours/Events

I purchased the premium subscription. I am using TimelinesTimeTracking for a bit different reporting. I need to track the volunteer hours of members for two different clubs. They often hand me their volunteer activities for the week and the hours they spent volunteering for event. These are older folks who often hand me a piece of paper with the information. “Timelines” allows me to enter their hours in real time then share reports to the District and International organization.
I can’t praise the developer enough for his responses to my questions within a 24 hour time period. I had already spent about 60 hours watching tutorials for Excel Power Pivot tables trying to figure out reporting hours/events to no avail. What a lifesaver TimelinesTimeTracking is to me!

Absolutely hands down great app!

I absolutely love using Timelines it’s super easy I just make up my own categories touch a spot to start the clock running I can revise the time add notes etc Really easily it will let me in to to add or revise at any time so it’s not like if I don’t do it right at the moment that somethings happening it’s an issue later it’s not like that I highly recommend it to lots of people and especially especially subcontract or remote workers or workers that are out that don’t have another way from the employers to track their time to show where the time goes!!
Even though I am, Blair doesn’t require that I check my time being remote always leaves one vulnerable to questions about what employee time is spent on and I find the Timelines rectifies that!

This is the perfect App

I have spent the last week or so trying to find the best system for productivity. I began by trying to visualize my Apple Calendar as a pie chart to determine what percentage of my week I was wasting. However no matter how hard I searched I could not find something that integrated well with Apple and gave me exactly what I was looking for. I resorted to creating an Excel spreadsheet and manually recording the events from my calendar. I was considering trying to develop my own app to fill this need, until I started searching for a time tracking app that would work with Apple Watch and I stumbled upon Timelines. Timelines provides everything I was looking for all in one. I am so excited to use this tool. Definitely worth the $40 for me. Many thanks to the developer!

It’s a lifesaver

The beautiful user interface on TimelinesTimeTracking makes it fun to use for tracking my time. Not only do I use TimelinesTimeTracking daily to track projects and client work, but I also use it to track my health. I’ll use the bar chart view of reports to watch how many hours I work per day. Since I’m on a flexible schedule, I don’t have 9-to-5 work hours. TimelinesTimeTracking allows me to track daily that I’m not overworking. When I do, I’ll purposely try to work fewer hours the next day for a healthier work pace. I also love that I can pinch the daily view of this chart to look at total hours for a week or month. This allows me to look at work trends over longer time periods and balance my time even more with family, friends and hobbies. It’s so easy to add and adjust time, track my goals, and monitor my progress that it’s more like playing a game.

Dude, yes!!!

Lukas,

So I was searching today for an app that would let me track my activities and preferably see them in a pie chart. I wanted to be able to compare the data from week to week. I wanted something with an Apple Watch app. And I’m always using the Notification Center. So when I came across your app just now I literally said out loud: “Dude, yes!!!” No lie.

I’m super excited to try it out. It seems like it’s everything I was looking for. My only complaint is I wish this also worked natively on iPad. Maybe in the future. For now I just wanted to say thank you. Rare is the occasion when I look for an app and actually get this excited when I find it. 👍🏽
