KWCH 12 News Reviews

I can live with the ads but KWCH12News has a lot of issues. I primarily use this for weather which isn’t always accurate; sometimes still lists the temp as being the same for several hours, the radar lags or sometimes will show clear skies over the entire state during the middle of a storm. The topic icons are often wrong, I click on news and end up viewing where’s Shane or find the channel 12 car. I’m a regular watcher and am constantly annoyed and disappointed that the anchors are constantly pitching their less than stellar app. And less to do with KWCH12News and more employees, typos are everywhere! It’s like they use speech to text but don’t proofread anything, it’s worse than if my 12 year old were typing up the stories.

Stop with the boxes to choose from on KWCH12News !! I’m sure the boxes are easier for most folks to use (apparently, or you wouldn’t have them?) but for ME, it’s like playing a game show. I want to know about (insert whatever). Hmmm, I wonder which box that information would be in? Maybe it’s virus related, but also may relate to sports, or grocery store hours, and/or something else. Which box do I choose? I choose none and move on to one of the other local stations news apps.

Come on man! Now you're throwing up a full page ad when I launch KWCH12News ! Really!!? Are you trying to be annoying? Is this a news app or not? I was already disappointed to see that video news stories are prefaced with video ads. Now these obnoxious full page ads. News content is OK, but the ads ruin the user experience. Totally bummed. Not digging it.

KWCH12News does not load. I did receive one ad today, which I thought was progress over the last several times I’ve tried to use KWCH12News and it did not load. However, this was short lived, since when I closed the ad, KWCH12News still did not load past a spinning wheel and the words...

“Expect More.”

I giggled. And then I deleted KWCH12News .

I get a notification about a specific event, I tap on it. Instant full screen ad. Fine. It’s free, I get it. So then I try to find that news story so I can watch it. Find it, then I have to watch a 30 second ad. Fine. Free app I get it. Then it starts playing the news headline I was so curious about... oh wait no It doesn’t. It goes to some live stream talking about some completely other news event.

This is a regular occurrence. So annoying.

Another thing that happens often: notification pops up... I’m intrigued and follow the link... It just opens KWCH12News to the home page, and there is no option even closely related to the link I followed.

Please find someone to write these stories that can spell and use English properly, almost every story has a problem. Examples from five different stories today and this is not abnormal.

There is no way to adjust the font size used in articles and KWCH12News apparently doesn’t use the iOS dynamic type setting. There is no dark mode setting and KWCH12News apparently doesn’t use the iOS dark mode setting. These are major drawbacks that make KWCH12News a real pain to use.

It would be nice if KWCH12News would function at a minimum of twice a week but yet that seems to asking too much - unless of course you want to be bombarded with ads instead of actual news content. In the stories you can read, the grammar and spelling issues are ridiculous. Why be a journalist if you can’t spell or write properly? It is very sad that the alleged Number One news source in Kansas can’t provide us with decent content and a usable app.

Program will not load most of the time. Very unreliable. Ads cover content making difficult if not impossible to read. I would expect better

This is one of the most inconsistent and unreliable apps I have tried to use in a long time. If it does open and actually load the features are decent. The weather is what I use the most, and it gives me quick access to forecasts and radars. Better then 75% of the time KWCH12News will not even open or load.

Out of over a hundred apps on my 12 ProMax, this one crashes *by far* the most often. Today I can’t even read a second news story because it’s repeatedly crashing. The latest ad upon opening is from the Wall Street Journal and the x to close it is hidden in an extremely busy graphic in an abnormal location like they’re purposefully hiding it. Out of all the versions I’ve had, the crash rate is at least 50%. It’s insanely unreliable.

App is ok. Nothing special. Several typos in the reports. Needs proof read better. But I would love to be able to totally block unwanted content. Such as I can’t stand sports. But yet sport reports are everywhere. Granted there are no news apps that can do this. But getting things done/ changed needs to start somewhere

KWCH12News and the storm track 12 app are two of my favorite apps (would have been 5 stars). However, in the last week there has been so many ads on both apps that pop up and you have to wait so long before closing them out. It is super annoying. I wish it was like before. I'm considering getting rid of them and using something different for my local news and weather. Very disappointed KWCH.

If the ads change, I'd absolutely use these again.

I have heard you say we can get a recipe, or some other item of knowledge you are showing on your news, if we would go to your site. We have many times, yet rarely find it. Today was the same story. We saw a meatball dish and told to go to your site. Once again, we found nothing.

App doesn’t work on notifications anymore. Have selected Wichita & Newtom.
It shows notifications on icon before opening it up. But when I touch the bell thing top right corner. Nothing there except will show notifications nothing else there.

I love KWCH News. With that said your people that are posting stories online are not proofreading the stories. The last I checked just about everyone of you has a college education, so when you have a non-college educated schmuck telling you to PROOFREAD your articles that should tell you something. Lately most of your postings have a glaring error in the first few sentences.

P.S. having a computer spell check your work is not PROOFREADING.

I don’t understand how long it can take to fix the ads that cover up content, nor why weather graphics appear that are several days old.

My favorite news station so of course I have KWCH12News ! I use KWCH12News for push notifications more than anything. The weather is excellent! I had to turn off the news which means I feel out of the loop going to find something else. If you live in Wichita it’s probably great but being in western Kansas I don’t care there is a traffic situation on Kellogg, and I don’t need to know about ever shooting, that is why I don’t live there!

So I wish there was a way since this is a regional news station to pick what push notifications you get.

The advertising is showing up in the content of the article and making it impossible to read. This has happened after the update. Please fix this. It’s very frustrating to only get to read part of a news story.

Daily alerts about football scores etc. alerts need to be about news that counts; the missing found, weather happening in the next 1 to 2 hours, emergency reporting started....an alert isn’t the fact that the Chiefs Kicked off their game
