KY3 News Reviews

This is much better than the previous version, but the ad that pops up over the whole screen immediately on opening is too much. Do you really need a 5 second ad in addition to all of the ads in there regular news feed? I will be deleting and reading local news from a different source. Latest version is a huge battery drain. Reading two stories makes by battery drop 20%.
Edit: the return of the ad on the splash screen has done it. I have deleted and switched to a different local news provider who still had plenty of ads in their app but are not nearly as intrusive.

Your "new" v3 version doesn't work on my older iPad. Used to, at least your old versions worked, not now. But those ads of yours still work in KY3News of course.

The newest version of the weather app hasn't worked on my iPad for some time but the news did. So much for using any of your lame apps. How a good station can have such lame apps is beyond me.

For those of you like me who dont have one of the newest iPads, the KOLR old version still works.

*** Update - After trying to download the new version again KY3News asked if I wanted to download the last compatible version and I did. It still initially would only show ads. After opening it and closing 3 or 4 times it *finally* started showing up with stories as before.

This is the worst app on my iPad and that I've ever used. Lucky for them KY3 is a decent station or I would never use it. I'd give it a zero if I could.

I was in the middle of reading a TORNADO WARNING for a neighboring county, and as I am reading what counties are going to be in the path of the storm, and trying to determine my family's risk of being caught in its path, an ad popped up, and took over my screen telling me that I had just won a $500 Walmart gift card, and it would not let me go back to the tornado warning. I had to quickly switch to a different weather source to finish reviewing the warning. Considering the nature of the storm, I am highly disappointed that this happened, and this is something that should be fixed quickly!

Storm sirens sound and taking shelter in the basement. When we needed a weather update, we got a 30 second commercial. 30 seconds doesn’t sound like much but it is when you need to know where the tornado is.

There is an advertisement when you open KY3News . Another between forecasts and video. One more at the bottom, then you have watch one every expletive time you up a video. I would gladly pay for a version of both the KY3 apps to not have to deal with the stupid advertisements. I am going to delete this one until the do something different.

The KY3 app is a great source for local Ozarks news, sports, and accurate weather forecasts. I use it several times a day. The audio weather alerts are especially valuable in these hills.
I would give KY3News five stars if there weren’t so many advertisements on the display throughout the pages of KY3News . I would gladly pay a few bucks for KY3News without ads. NOT A SUBSCRIPTION, but a one time charge.

I have installed and deleted KY3News several times over the years. I just now deleted it ... again. I try to look for information that I can use and help myself and my family. In the end however, it’s the negative news that gets the headline and I just do not need any more negativity in the world. Also I feel that it is a little ridiculous to have to close the Cherokee Firearms advertisement every time I open KY3News . KY3 is fine as a reporting agency. The choices of what make to KY3News however makes it “Not the Place to Be”.

I’ve had many issues with KY3News. I have had a problem with trying to view a tornado warning to find out if my family needed to move to the basement when an ad popped up and covered the whole screen where I could no longer see the weather warning. Every time I went back in it happened again.
Recently KY3News has stopped working altogether. It either kicks me out as soon as I get in or won’t let me in at all. Unfortunately, I’ve had to delete KY3News because if these issues.

I expected so much more from KY3. KY3News has way too many ads. Doesn’t load about half the time. And, slideshow of images never works. Many times a story will reference a slideshow of images to scroll through and it either isn’t there at all or you can’t scroll through the images. I keep thinking this will be fixed but after 3 updates...still the same problem. Come on KY3, fire these developers and create an app people can actually use.

I have never seen so many advertisements in a single app. They pop up, they slide in, they take over, they annoy you, they’re not closable, and more!! The entire app is not centered around news and content it’s centered around Clickbait so that you accidentally click an advertisement and make the developer money. This is not a news app folks, it’s an advertisement app. End of story. I’m actually surprised Apple let’s just kind of trash slide through their App Store.

I don’t understand why your station is biased and trying to adhere to national liberal media standards? This is a conservative dominated region. It is obvious by the reporting and personal opinions of the anchors. In public schools locally they are forcing kids to watch CNN locally without permission from parents and we know CNN is liberal. Why is this happening? Are you aware of your region and what appeals to them? Do you really care about local citizens and what they want to watch? Remember the majority is what pays the bills such as advertising etc.

Over a couple of years, I’ve deleted and reinstalled KY3News several times, always hoping it will work better. I usually end up deleting it within the first day of downloading it. It just won’t work, won’t load, freezes up. It’s junk.

Why can’t you get your app to actually work??? I want to see YOUR news in Springfield over the others, but your product is worthless.

My iPhone 8 app would immediately crash upon trying to open since the last update. This update appears to have resolved this issue. Less news items on KY3News compared to their online service.

I hate that I rely on this for local news. It locks up every other time I use it. The AD causes me to search for other options. It has not had any real design changes in years. Hate how unfriendly the images are and videos rarely load without significant wait time. KY3News locks up almost like clock work, every other time I try and use it. It’s strange to me that no one at KY3 uses KY3News - if they did they would have someone fix it.

Horrible app. Crashes not just KY3News but completely shuts down my phone. Maybe KY3 can’t afford to pay an editor. I would think they could based on the payroll they’re not paying to get good reporters. How about change up the stories that you guys keep on the news app for days and days. To bad you don’t have multiple Steve Grants or Lisa Roses’!!

I do understand stand weather is important, I do however think on the TV news the weather could be one segment. They repeat a lot of the same information. I like all the forecasters, but think weather could be a shorter one time segment. Jack McCormick. Lakeview Arkansas.

Ads on KY3News are beginning to impede my ability to navigate with ease. ESPECIALLY while at home where my Hugh's net internet "connection" is poor, at best, and cellular service is even worse. I plan to check out the other local news apps for comparison.

Your app crashes daily now ever since you added the automatic ad that you have to cancel out of. I understand the business aspect of it but it’s ridiculous how many ads you have in all of your stories. Deleting and won’t download again unless you fix the crashing problems and report news as opposed to selling advertising.

Update: fixed the crashing issue but added ads that look like news articles, misleading you to click them, also ads with click bait headings! Deleting KY3News !
KY3News crashes consistently, also I understand having ads but on every single video and every time I open KY3News .

I know you have to pay for KY3News somehow, but when you added the huge opening page add you lost me. I am deleting KY3News . There are many people who will pay a dollar or two for an app just so we don't have to deal with ridiculous ads while we're trying to read the news.

KY3 is my favorite local news channel. I wish the news articles didn’t freeze up, forcing me to abandon their app and seek local news elsewhere.
10 nicknames later my review is rejected due to the name previously being used. Coincidence?
