BeelineBikeNavigation looks good on the surface. The UI is well designed and easy to navigate. However, there are two features missing from BeelineBikeNavigation that absolutely need to be included before Beeline can be useful:
1) New destination: Once I begin a ride and reach my destination, I usually want to input a new destination and continue my ride. To my dismay, Beeline doesn’t permit the modification of my route in any way once I’ve begun the ride. Want to add a new via point? Nope, can’t do that. Want to change your destination? Nope, can’t do that either. Want to add a new destination? Nooope, you’ll have to completely end your current ride and begins new ride. This situation means I cannot use Beeline to navigate to a destination and then back home while sharing a single finished ride recording. Rather, Beeline forces me to save at least two different rides, one for each destination. If I change my destination at any point durning the ride, suddenly I have more than two ride recordings. This makes sharing my rides on services like Rever or Strava impossible. This missing feature alone is reason for me to never use Beeline again.
2) No exporting rides: Want to export your ride as a GPX file? Sorry, you can’t do that. Beeline doesn’t support the exporting of ride files. If you’re creative, you can link Beeline to Strava, upload your rides to Strava, and then us Strava’s GPX file export option, but that’s a super obtuse way to obtain GPX files. Beeline really needs to let its users control their own data. Keeping my rides locked up and unusable is mega lame.
The last item I’ll note is that I hate not being able to see the speed limit when I ride. Both the Scenic app and Waze show me the speed limit while using their apps. Beeline does not. This missing piece of information makes a big difference to my confidence on the road.
