2022 I still use ScalaArchitecturalScale daily. I'd still like to see a decimal inch/mechanical scale and a way to enter the variable scale numerically.........2016 As a civil engineer this is a very handy app. Working with arch and civil and mech scales is needed and when you forget one or need one surprised you're covered! The variable scale feature in ScalaArchitecturalScale is invaluable!! My wish list would include a full scale decimal inch readout. It's there but you need to read the numbers out of the display. Also a flip direction would help. Then two sliders to measure the delta and shift the 0 point would be helpful.
The only thing I would like to see in ScalaArchitecturalScale is the ability to measure longer dimensions that the 5-1/2β lengths of the iPhone. I was trying to add some measurements and was hoping to be able to pull down the scale on the right side and get 6β or 7β but it seemed that the measurement stopped at 5.5β.
I use this with my iPad Pro and it is dead on accurate compared to my engineerβs scale. Itβs great for making impromptu measurements in the field.
Clever, simple designed app that comes in very handy if you forget or don't want to carry a scale. Great support, very helpful and responsive.

I have been using ScalaArchitecturalScale recently to measure items at 1:1 scale in the field. (Things less than 3.5 inches in width β the height of my screen). Itβs amazing how handy it comes in when normally I would be eyeballing a measurement (what is the width of that guardrail post, for example?) and have the ability to get concrete measurements easily. I also use ScalaArchitecturalScale in the field to scale drawings quickly and find information, such as door widths. The quarter- and eighth-inch scales are most useful for me.
While others at the construction site are just guessing dimensions, I use Scala on my iPhone or iPad to determine correct measurements. Everyone to whom I have shown this handy app is impressed, especially with the "variable scale" since drawings at the job site - or even in the office - are so often printed to fit a sheet of paper, leaving the scale unknown. I enthusiastically recommend this beautifully intuitive app to all my design and construction colleagues!
Super useful app for architects on the go or at the site to quickly analyze drawings and get dimensions. Easy interface. I haven't found any other app that has these abilities and ease of use.
Also, definitely worth the $2.99 to get the additional scales.
I am a developer and needs something simple to measure some dimensions on 11"x17" scaled-down site plans. ScalaArchitecturalScale allows me to set non-standard scales and it works great. The developer sent me a video on how to set a flexible scale, which was very helpful.
