The prices...

Eggbun is amazing! I love how it doesn’t just teach the language, but aspects of their culture and history. I also love how interactive it is, but there is one major flaw.
The prices! I am one of the people who love apps where buying things isn’t necessary and it is easy to pay for if not able to be free. I saw the in-app purchases sign and looked what they were and I thought I could get by without them. As it turns out, i was terribly wrong. You need to buy the subscription to get a full learning experience, but as of right now my family is in a tight spot and can’t afford it. As of right now we are sheltered in place thanks to the pandemic known as covid-19 and I was looking for a way to spend my time learning. I know there are free alternatives out there, but those don’t help me as much as these do. It would be AMAZING if the purchase was something like you pay 20$ for all access and maybe the occasional ad. But as of right now, I suggest not getting this ad unless you are prepared to spend quite a lot of money. Thank you for reading this and I hope this helps.

I have a question!

First of all, I want to express how impressed I am with this app! Even though with my current circumstances, I can’t afford premium, the free lessons have taught me more in five minutes than I retained in two months before this app. The interactive chat box/Lanny is the best approach I’ve found so far to help me learn, and makes me feel confident in what I’m learning.
Because these lessons are so awesome, I was excited to see that a new free lesson would unlock every 24 hours—but I must have misunderstood what it said in that app. Can you please clarify what it means when it says “next free lesson available in 24 hours,” and how I can access a new free lessons everyday? Thank you so much!

Great so far!!!!

This is so far a really good way to learn Korean....
I love it so much my only problem is I don’t want to be waiting over 24 hours just to get an another lesson and I am only 15 there is no jobs hiring 15 year olds so I don’t have money to be able to buy the premium😢....(sadly)

But I’m still able to learn without paying but I have to wait and it’s over 24 hours I go back to check if there is another lesson waiting for me but when I go to check it for some reason it keeps logging me out where I have to go sign back in and when I sign in with google r my email it says error and it also says sign in with Facebook.....I don’t have Facebook so that’s out of the question but it keeps logging me out and keeps saying error when I try logging back in.... it literally take about 20 minutes of trying to figure out what the heck is wrong but by the time I get into Eggbun ...finally...
I think to myself that there should be a lesson open for me...nope....nothing....I wasted 20 minutes of my time thinking there was another lesson....it took 20 minutes of my time for nothing....

Then it happens all over again and just sometimes it has a lesson waiting for me....

This is a great app I learned so much so far that I never knew about but please check out why this is happening I would be so great-full if I could learn this language in peace....

🙏🏻 Thank you very much 🙏🏻

Bug

Edit: I've read a review that says it may take some time for the 1 month subscription to go through, so I figured I should change the review until I really know for sure. Though now, when I go into the profile tab, Eggbun crashes and closes. I'm not really sure why it is doing that so suddenly, aha. Again, that would be the only downside at the moment.

I really really like Eggbun, but until I am able to fix this problem I can't give it more than one star. I LOVE the way Eggbun goes about teaching, but when I went to subscribe for one month of premium it kinda ruined it for me. The payment went through, but it isn't letting me proceed with any of the lessons. I sent them a message through their feedback tab on Eggbun , and I am awaiting a response. Other than this one problem, I would absolutely recommend Eggbun to anyone trying to learn the languages they provide.

A great resource!

this app is a great resource for anyone that wants to learn Korean. The user interface is intuitive and the lessons are engaging! I’ve learned more with this app than I did with Rosetta Stone and I couldn’t be happier with my premium purchase.

I love that this app has a community page where you can chat with others and practice the words and phrases you’ve been learning. I’ve only been using this app for two weeks but I am already starting to understand words in k-pop songs and k-dramas.

Couldn’t be happier! 고맙습니다!

It was good app but very inflexible and limited. Premium content not worth the money

I wrote to this app about not getting any new lessons for premium subscription. So far i was told that they were too busy to do so.

I really thought I would get a new lesson (even if it’s a short one) every week. That’s why I went ahead and did an annual subscription. It was a mistake. Now I just canceled the subscription. Can I get a pro-rated refund?

Some lessons are good. But it’s all about memorization. It doesn’t explain any grammar.

I also don’t understand why some lessons can have a 600% progress.

What also upsets me was that recently they are doing a promotion of giving out a free ebook of the lessons if you sign up for the premium. I signed up about two weeks prior to promotion and got nothing. Remind you that I got the annual not a monthly one.

Anyway, I’ll rather stick with Duolingo as it’s free. And just like this app, it doesn’t roll out new lessons. So why would anyone want to pay for it? I don’t care about cultural notes and word race. Word quiz is pathetic cuz the quiz is short and you have to start it again and again.

Please give me my money back. I’d appreciate that.

Great overall just wish I could get more lessons for free

this app is a wonderful app. It has helped me with my learning of the language and of there culture. One thing I wish was that you got More lessons for free. I have only done one lesson from each thing and wish I didn't have to pay for all of them. But overall it is a wonderful App. But I suggest that if you are learning Korean to have more than one source and and actually person to help you with learning it is a lot easier.

Not getting a confirmation e-mail

After the most recent update, I was logged out. I’ve been trying to log in again. But no matter what I do, I’m not getting the confirmation e-mail. I added the help email and Lanny to my contacts, I checked my spam box, I’ve tried to resend the email multiple times, and I emailed this app, and nothing. I’ve never had a problem with emails from them before, so I’m not sure what’s happening here.

I might have to cancel my premium account if this isn’t fixed soon, which is a shame, because I love Eggbun, and I’ve been recommending it to people.

Nice app but has major bug

Okay I’m usually not the person to ever leave bad reviews, but here we go. First off I will say I LOVE the content of Eggbun and how they go about teaching. The interactive “texting” is fun and it makes learning easier (for me at least). There’s one major issue with this though, like others have said if you buy the month pass it will NOT show up. I purchased mine almost 5 days ago and I emailed the company about it 4 days ago and still nothing has been done about it. I’m hoping that when ever this problem gets fixed they’ll at least add back in the days I’ve missed to my subscription, but with how they’ve handled things so far I’m not sure that will happen. So as of now, I’m basically paying $6 for nothing.

This is SUPER Helpful! ٩(ˊᗜˋ)و

When I first started to use this app, it wasn't confusing at all! There's no ads interrupting your way of learning a new language. It'll allow you to choose which part would you like to start first! I'd recommend using Greetings first if you're thinking of traveling to Korea soon so that you can know the difference between formality and informality. Also, this app! Please make more language apps to support people's languages!! Thank you for reading if you did!♥

Eggbun!!!

I think Eggbun is a best way to learn new languages. But I have one problem, I just hope that Eggbun can have all different languages in one app and not just three with different apps to download. It would be easier for me to click one app right away to learn and chat new different languages than just three. I know this isn’t really a problem but I hope you can read this and try to fix this problem if you can. Other than that Eggbun is great to learn and chat new languages.💜💜

Love it!

I love Eggbun , I learn a lot from the interactive features! And the texting keyboard helps me form things often and I got the premium! Sometimes Eggbun acts like I don’t have it so I either refresh or hit the “restore” purchase and I’m good to go. Haven’t had the issue in awhile though so I’m happy! As a suggestion: do some sentence building exercises in Eggbun after certain lessons! It’ll really help then! I’m still just beginning and gotten to telling time via days and weeks but this is amazing so far

The only app that helped

I went through a lot of different apps to try and learn korean, but this seems to be the only one that actually helps me remember anything. It really does feel like someone is there helping me. This is the first time I’ve ever spent money on an app, and it was very much worth it to unlock everything. I actually had some payment issues at first, but the staff responds to your emails very quickly.

Very helpful!

멘탈 붕괴. 멘붕

Eggbun has a few issues. The latest is that the answer choices pop up before you can read the question. Also inability to go though word quiz continuously. Currently it stops every few questions and requires restarting.
The font in some parts is so small one needs a magnifying glass to see the characters like in the typing window. I paid for a year but wish I hadn’t. Eggbun is frustrating to use but the hangul is correct. They fixed a previous issue. If they can make all characters large enough to be easily seen and get the program glitches out I would give it a higher rating. If they can make use of word quiz continuous and fix the font size and fix the glitches I would give it five stars. I’m sure the developers are working hard on this.

The developer replied to this review about six months later.

Update

this app refused to extend my subscription to compensate for all of the usability problems I experienced with Eggbun. I do not want to renew. I paid to be a human ginny pig. Don’t pay for a year until you try it for a while.

So good!

this app is so good, I use it all the time. It is much better than Duolingo because you can go over a certain lesson that you might not understand. It also goes slowly so you can definitely understand and learn along with it. I highly recommend using it! I teaches you both how to write it and read it. It also teaches you more than just the language it teaches you things about the culture such as: foods, holidays and even myths.

Love the app but latest update isn’t working!

I absolutely love Eggbun and have learned a lot from it so far, however each time I go to open Eggbun since the new update, it freezes. Not sure if it’s just me that is experiencing this. Otherwise I recommend Eggbun 100%. I’ve even turned a few people on to it and they agree - it’s unique and efficient AND effective! Love it. Keep up the good work.

By

Love it! But

I completely love how the whole app works and the strategies to make you learn easy and quick! Though I have one problem that I don’t know if it’s me or I’m doing something wrong. I just currently started the Hangul lesson and it’s amazing how quickly I know most of the consonants and the vowels. But now that I have finished a lesson, I waited 24 hours and the other one still hasn’t unlocked, am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

By

Good app

With Eggbun, I learned Hangul in a month, though I still can’t understand any words. This style may not work for some people, but I personally enjoy it. Definitely much more than Duolingo where it doesn’t EXPLAIN that two letters sound the same and says you’re wrong when you press the wrong letter even though there is no difference except for spelling basically.

By

Pay To Learn

I enjoy the UI, and needing to type to pass lessons helps improve language skills, however, the time gate frequently bugs out, and makes progress frustrating. I am only 10 lessons into the program after many months of using Eggbun . The chat function is novel at first but has reduced repeat value, and if a lesson doesn’t ‘unlock’ after the 24 hour period, repeating doesn’t help much. 1 lesson per month when Eggbun claims to be one lesson per day is just a trap to frustrate you into spending $$ as others have mentioned.

By

Small bug please fix.

I love Eggbun, but it has a bit of a bug. When I put in a right answer it’ll say it’s wrong. So I’ll keep getting wrong a few times before it says no it was this and it’ll be what I had put firstly. It just kinda messes with you when your trying to learn think your doing well then get told your wrong..but then your right...other then that I love it.

Seems like a good app but super expensive and free options are bad

Eggbun was the first app I used when I wanted to learn Korean but I only have access to one lesson per chapter and each chapters like 10 lessons long. To get all the actually useful info I want to learn I basically have to pay just to use Eggbun . If they wanted money that bad they could have just made Eggbun cost two dollars cuz instead I have to pay 9 dollars a month or 40 dollars for six months or 70 dollars per year. I just wanna learn Korean, should it really cost that much? I’d be fine if it was like a one time payment for 10 dollars (I’m cheap lol) or something. There are plenty of other apps that even with their free version at least teach u some things. Eggbun doesn’t even teach u all the letters of the alphabet for free. But I do really think this is my favorite of all the Korean learning apps I’ve used. But I just wish that it was cheaper or that they had a one time payment thing. Even if it’s like 20 dollars I’d still pay for it. I really hope I’ll be able to use Eggbun in the future. I would recommend but it’s expensive and it’s main goal isn’t to teach Korean culture, it just wants money. Use Duolingo if ur broke, it gives more free options by a landslide.

A problem

Hey! Eggbun is super useful and easy to use!! I really loved this when I first downloaded it, but .. I deleted it to make up some space for my iPad. I downloaded it again today and tried to log in, but due to not using it for so long I had to sign up which isn’t the problem. But the real problem is that when I tried to verify my email, Eggbun is saying there’s unusual activity? I don’t know what that means. Can you help me? I would really like to use Eggbun again. And to anyone else who’s seeing this and want to learn Korean, this is the most useful way to do it!! I really recommend Eggbun <3
