This is a very good white noise app. I use it every night for white noise while I sleep. There are no advertisements, and there are overall very few restrictions on the free version. I have tried many other white noise apps in the past, and I have deleted all of them within a few days because of the very annoying pay walls that they have set up. This is not the case with Tide, which I have been using for at least 1.5 years now. However, in the past month or so, the app has been crashing midway through the night midway. This has caused the white noise to stop, which wakes me up. This has been a huge problem, and I am not sure why it is occurring. Maybe it is because I have an older iPhone (7)? Either way, I hope the Tide developers look into this crashing problem, but to all the readers of this review who are looking for a white noise app, you should definitely try out Tide, as it is one of the best out there if you don’t want to pay to play white noise while you sleep.

The addition of Tide Plus subscriptions has kind of broken this app for me. Not because I’m opposed to app developers being paid (otherwise why would I have bought the app to begin with), but because of how this upgrade-on-an-upgrade is handled. The whole point of this app is to be simple and relaxing. Constant notifications trying to get me to upgrade are the opposite of relaxing. The cost calculus and choices of a recurring payment vs access to new (or losing access to existing?!) features is the opposite of simple. This change in what was a beautifully simple and impactful app is very disappointing. I kind of wish I’d saved my money, and stuck with Tide Lite.

Hello app creators, one thing I really liked about the old version was the ease with which we could switch from the beautiful quote screen to the focus mode with one swipe downward. I know it’s sooo minuscule that I shouldn’t even be complaining but I truly feel like the app was better this way. Please consider bringing it back. You should also consider adding a function that lets you turn the audio on and off (when you’re not in focus) because I know right now, my audio start playing right away and I preferred the old version where the sounds would come on only when you started the focus. Other than that, I really love the app, I appreciate the multitude of free options (unlike other apps which give you a very limited amount of free functions). I’m really considering purchasing the premium once I’m more financially stable and can support you guys. For now, great stuff! ♥️
