First, my Radio RA hardware is bulletproof but this software experience after spending tens of thousands of dollars is so terrible i’m avoiding lutron all together for my vacation home for a number of reasons. 1. The app is dated, clunky and a pain to use. Fortunately i can control individual lights in my own scenes in homekit. Often times it feels like usability is restricted to protect installers. Which leads me to… 2. Nerfed product to please installers. I certainly understand the need to protect your installer base but that model is dying and you aren’t making any middle ground concessions to users paying cold hard cash for the system. I am happy to pay my integrator to spec, install and setup new additions. I am not fine paying hundreds of dollars for a house call to tweak a level setting for one set of lights in a scene. Not only are installers backed up like every trade, it’s ecologically wasteful, and it’s straight up robbery to require this process in this day and age. As a result, I’m no longer going Lutron in my new house that would have been a bigger install than my other. I advise everyone else to do the same until Lutron adjusts their customer hostile model for the modern age.

I have been using the Lutron Home
Control + for 3 years and dutifully paying the annual $79 subscription fee. Last week my subscription expired and the app will not allow me to renew. In speaking w Lutron support I was advised that the app has been mothballed and that I must now purchase a new piece of hardware - the connect bridge - and download a new app to restore functionality. So the bottom line is that the software was arbitrarily disabled by Lutron. This was done w no advance notice or warning. Rather than shut off customers, the proper thing would have been to keep the app operational and simply announce no additional support for it. Instead the system I paid thousands for is dead. Bad move Lutron.

So am I understanding correctly that we need to add a Connect Bridge to the RadioRa2 system to get the new Connect app to work? Because as with the original Lurton app, I cannot get it to detect the RadioRa2 network. When the old app did connect, it was quirky (auto off timer worked, but auto on didn’t, stuff like that). I have an 8 year old system, so maybe the firmware is out of date? But I have to say, it is not obvious what is wrong, and I feel like I paid a ton of money for a set of ordinary dimmable light switches. Was hoping this new app would be intuitive and easy (and working!!!), but the whole system was a waste of money. Very dissatisfied.
