Frustrating

After getting LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp and setting up your system, LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp will stop working . It tells that it can’t discover the system. After endless attempts to re-discover, it finally will discover the system. But, don’t get your hopes up. It won’t last long. I am sorry there is a Lutron system in our home. If the builder had asked us about it, we would have declined. Be warned unless you like to suffer.

Lights often don’t turn on when timer is set.

I enjoy being able to control my home lighting with my cellular device. I set specific times for specific lights to turn on. There are 2-3 lights that sometimes turn on and sometimes don’t which is a bit of a headache. LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp would be great if worked more frequently.

No iPhone 14 support after 6 months?

I am disappointed with the Lutron app. It's been over six months since the iPhone 14 was released, and yet they haven't updated their app to fit the new screen size. LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp looks terrible on my phone, and it's frustrating to use. I've reached out to customer support, but they haven't given a real answer.

Needs HomeKit support for TouchPro thermostats

Would be 5 stars if it was possible to expose TouchPro thermostats to HomeKit

Ultimately it’s about simplicity of use, having one single app (for Lutron and non-Lutron devices) which I can point members of my household and customers to and having Siri be capable of controlling temperature.

Crestron has always handled this well but with them now charging extra for 3rd party lighting control it’s a harder sell. I tend to prefer Lutron + HomeKit but HVAC control is a gap that needs to be filled.

Distasteful Company Ethics

I have been using the Lutron Home
Control + for 3 years and dutifully paying the annual $79 subscription fee. Last week my subscription expired and LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp will not allow me to renew. In speaking w Lutron support I was advised that LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp has been mothballed and that I must now purchase a new piece of hardware - the connect bridge - and download a new app to restore functionality. So the bottom line is that the software was arbitrarily disabled by Lutron. This was done w no advance notice or warning. Rather than shut off customers, the proper thing would have been to keep LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp operational and simply announce no additional support for it. Instead the system I paid thousands for is dead. Bad move Lutron.

What a mess

So am I understanding correctly that we need to add a Connect Bridge to the RadioRa2 system to get the new Connect app to work? Because as with the original Lurton app, I cannot get it to detect the RadioRa2 network. When the old app did connect, it was quirky (auto off timer worked, but auto on didn’t, stuff like that). I have an 8 year old system, so maybe the firmware is out of date? But I have to say, it is not obvious what is wrong, and I feel like I paid a ton of money for a set of ordinary dimmable light switches. Was hoping this new app would be intuitive and easy (and working!!!), but the whole system was a waste of money. Very dissatisfied.

Listen to your reviewers!!

So many responses from many, many years ago and still no progress?? Since updating to the latest iOS there is no widget accessibility. In the year 2024???
As many of others have stated…for the amount of money it takes to install the Lutron systems, all you can give your customers is a lousy bare bones, non-customizable app …glitchy as all get out, and trips over itself CONSTANTLY. It sure seems that Lutron is more concerned about taking advantage of their consumer than providing the best home automation solution in the market.

Crap app

As every other review has stated, Lutron builds great products but you may need a integration support tech to move into your home! This is not a DIY product and if you are fortunate (sarcasm) enough to live outside of their minimal support hours EST, TS I guess! Terrible software and at this point I would rather throw it away and work with a product much more user friendly. It would actually be cheaper in the long run than paying MORE money to get this crap running as intended. Good Luck I say!

Dated App and Support Model

First, my Radio RA hardware is bulletproof but this software experience after spending tens of thousands of dollars is so terrible i’m avoiding lutron all together for my vacation home for a number of reasons. 1. LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp is dated, clunky and a pain to use. Fortunately i can control individual lights in my own scenes in homekit. Often times it feels like usability is restricted to protect installers. Which leads me to… 2. Nerfed product to please installers. I certainly understand the need to protect your installer base but that model is dying and you aren’t making any middle ground concessions to users paying cold hard cash for the system. I am happy to pay my integrator to spec, install and setup new additions. I am not fine paying hundreds of dollars for a house call to tweak a level setting for one set of lights in a scene. Not only are installers backed up like every trade, it’s ecologically wasteful, and it’s straight up robbery to require this process in this day and age. As a result, I’m no longer going Lutron in my new house that would have been a bigger install than my other. I advise everyone else to do the same until Lutron adjusts their customer hostile model for the modern age.

Deserves it's low rating

It's just not easy to use.

Homekit integration doesn't work

Customizing it is hard. Menu experience is poor and hard to remember. For a high end hardware product they just don't get the job done on LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp side

App Takes Forever to Open

The system is great but LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp takes forever, upwards of 5 minutes, to open. At that point I could just go adjust every light in my house manually. I don’t have this problem with any other smart home app. Is there a bug fix in the works?

App needs updating

LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp is slow to come up but works reasonably well once it is loaded. Would be nice if customizations on one device would work on other devices.

The biggest issue that I have is the Apple Watch issue - LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp is available but quickly goes blank when you pull it up on the Apple Watch, rendering it unusable. They really need to fix this issue.

It works but so portly designed

Considering the cost of lutron homework’s LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp is like a step back in time to using an old dos computer. It’s almost impossible to set up a schedule. I mostly use my Alexa to set up any type of schedule or routine because the lutron app is so clunky. Now I see why my installer recommended using a system like Savaent or control 4. I wish the developer would look at how those programs work and make a more user friendly interface.

Works great, but...

I have an iPhone X and am using LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp on a fairly extensive Lutron system, including lights and shades. Works great when loaded, but only works for 2-3 weeks, then won’t load (rebooting phone does not fix it). Only way I can get LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp working again is to delete it from my phone and reinstall. The Siri commands are saved (thankfully) but all the “Favorite” settings have to be redone.

Of course the time of failure always seems to happen at most inconvenient times. This is a poor reflection on an otherwise decent company.

Does not work with homekit still... no idea why

Serious problems despite buying a multi-thousand dollar homeworks qs device and using the lutron connect app.

I give it a star since LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp opens and closes my shades. NO idea why you cant make shade group and shade scene changes on LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp itself. It’s ridiculous.

I finally got everything working on alexa but can’t get scenes to connect to HomeKit. This is the MAIN reason i spent over $3k getting this new box installed.

Lutron needs to make this right given that I have a $30k+ shade system and I can’t do what a home depot shade can do.

The days of installers being necessary for everything is OVER and customers wont stand for this no matter how much integrator protectionism they have.

Installers for us are 200miles away and are too busy to really do followup work. They will charge you for an install and will leave service calls (despite being expensive) for last tier on their priority list.

You Still Want a Remote Access subscription.

NOT a replacement for your Remote Access subscription.

When I purchased the Lutron Connector Bridge I was shocked to discover that it utilizes a different app than the Lutron Home Control+ app.

LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp, ‘Lutron Connect’ app is terrible compared with the ‘Lutron Home Control+’ app. Lutron Connect has very little organization to it. All of your rooms are simply alphabetized. There’s a total lack of color utilization. Text is micro small and it’s difficult to determine the status of lights or shades. Strongly recommend you continue to use the Lutron Home Control+ app and pay the $79 fee for remote access. It’s a small price to pay for a vastly superior app.

The Lutron Connect app is also old-school when it comes to passwords. Requiring numbers upper and lower case etc.

Also, as a condition of any Lutron sale make certain that your dealer installs a working copy of the Lutron Windows desktop software for you. This software is necessary for making anything but minor changes on your Lutron system. Don’t get me wrong, Lutron makes EXCELLENT hardware. But LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp is a stinker.

App not working...

Can sign in but app not responding... seems like last update is a potential problem. Had no issues prior to this?

Works on iPhone but not on iPad.

Update... interesting response from Lutron...” we can investigate the issue you are seeing by going to Settings -> Help -> Send Feedback.”... more than happy to do so... however, there is no send feedback in the settings/help menu of LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp I’m using... I’ve resorted to deleting LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp and reloading... works for a bit, then it’s locked up again... I’ve done that four times now! Works, then 20 minutes later, it’s locked up???

App has potential, but not quite there.

After investing almost $50-60k in full powered motorized shades, and a full radio ra2 system throughout my home, while I love what I can do with physical switches, it seems somewhat limiting that I cannot manage the button icons, room layouts, load names, and button types “toggles” vs “presses”, or manage any of the advanced setup without going through my dealer every time. I wish there was a version of the software that was also available on PC for homeowners, and that the mobile app allowed for more customization for end users.

Regarding the UI, it would be much nicer if you could more easily raise and lower load levels in a room or area without having to first open the room, then open the load, and then finally control the load. If I’m looking to raise and lower individual levels in a room relative to one another on the fly, it’s just a lot of extra clicks.

Additionally, while a dealer can add virtual keypads to rooms, it would be nice if I could define scenes specifically for use in the mobile app for certain rooms or areas. Just seems like lutron needs to spend some time with a UI/UX designer and really think about use cases.

Needs instructions.

New to Lutron and LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp, I have tried very hard to find instructions for it. All I’ve found are community forums, all asking the same sorts of questions. Specifically, the Modes—there are four of them. How do they work and how do they relate to Schedules?

Room View From “Lights On/Off” View

It’s really cool how LutronRadioRA2HWQSApp lets you see what lights are on by clicking the current lights on section, it would be awesome if you guys could add what rooms are on from that view
