Very similar to web experience

I have not experienced the forced logout that others have stated in their reviews and I suspect it is because I am logging in with the personal account I created after I accessed the clinical key website through my school’s library as opposed to using my school’s login credentials. My suggestion would be to try that route. As for ClinicalKey itself, it functions very similar to the website. I can access the same material (including textbooks) that I could on the website. The only things I wish it had that the website had is the ability to “find on page” and change the size of the text. If I were king for a day (or, if someone from CK is reading this) I would enable web users and app users to favorite books—whole books, not just chapters or images from them. Having to constantly search for the names of textbooks gets tedious.

Great Content, Horrible app

Elsevier publishes some of my favorite books and journals, and everything works great on a desktop or laptop, but if you are using ClinicalKey on iPhone or iPad, it is a dreadful experience. You get continuous warnings that your network has changed, even when it hasn’t, and why ClinicalKey even cares is beyond me. The textbook search engine will not take you to the requested textbook, and there is no list to jog your memory, just a place to enter a textbook name from memory. Searching for articles often leads you to something completely unrelated to the key words you entered. The application also will not run in the background, so if you leave to use another app, you lose everything you were looking at.

Looks from reviews like these problems have been present for several years, though ClinicalKey is only at v. 1.something, so not so not well attended to. Unless you plan to use clinical key only on your computer, I would skip it and go with Up to Date.

App needs serious work

This is rating app usability not the content UTD app >>>>CK app If CK wants to compete with big brother UTD - stop logging me out each time I minimize -have a save login feature easily accessible -landscape mode on iPhone with less screen overlap bug - favorite book saving option -options on screen color and text size please - cleaner experience that is less laggy -option for DL of material would no network is needed Please do this. For a grand a year for the IM packet we should have a more functional app since it is 2021. BEST resources in probably the worst app.

Poor execution of an incredible resource

Is anyone paying attention to ClinicalKey anymore? I noticed the last update was a year ago.

The resources in this database are incredible, and I find the information to be easily readable and well laid out. However, I keep getting booted out while using ClinicalKey . And, furthermore, it is not easy to get logged back in since I have to go through the institutional login route.

Please update and simply ClinicalKey!! I really want to love ClinicalKey and rely on it, but you’re making that difficult for me.

App Needs Serious Work

The resources on clinical key are great, but the implementation on ClinicalKey is awful. There are basic features missing, such as a “find on page” function that even the stock Microsoft Notepad has. Users also cannot add books to a library or favorites list, so to access the same book at a later time you just have to search again for the book.

STOP LOGGING ME OUT

Publishers like Elselvier are exactly the ones driving people to pirate and not pay. My institution pays for my access and for some dumb anti-user reason, they decide to log you out every time you close ClinicalKey to satisfy some idiotic internal “security” requirement. You will have a better user experience if you download the PDF - I’m not advocating for piracy but I shouldn’t have to pay to be treated like a criminal.

No books

Clinical key in itself is great, but ClinicalKey doesn’t have access to the material (ie books). Looking at reviews, this apparently has been a problem in the past. Not a lot of confidence that ClinicalKey is reliable or even useable. Bummer, it could be so great.

Can’t even login. Worst app

this app has good content. But ClinicalKey doesn’t let you use any of it. Can’t even login consistently

App needs some work

Landscape view is not available on iPad. Also, not able to access half of what I can access on the desktop version. Books for example won't show up. Seems like ClinicalKey isn't quite up to speed yet with what people will be expecting from it.

Issues

After latest app update, it worked well for several months. Over the last several days, ClinicalKey will not open, I’ve tried to delete and re-download several times, but after one use, ClinicalKey won’t open. And this last time, most of my access to books and such were restricted.

Won't load

ClinicalKey worked well enough until a week or two ago. Now I just get the orange screen that says clinical key and the circular animation that indicates that it's loading. I restarted my phone and deleted ClinicalKey and redownloaded it. It still doesn't work. Extremely frustrating.

Great App, Some Limitations

Lots of current, evidence based information in intuitive format. Would appreciate ability to rotate screen to landscape

Needs automatic bookmarking

I would use ClinicalKey much more if it would allow me to pick up exactly where I left off reading rather than having to click through to the chapter and then scrolling around to find the section I need. Any other e-reader app I've used has this feature. Please fix this issue!

App is not working

After most recent update. ClinicalKey is not working. Other people have made similar comments. When I try to contact support they are not very helpful. Please help. I loved ClinicalKey and would appreciate being able to use it again

Great!!

This is a great app! It is quick and intuitive to use. Nice interface. Much better than accessing CK through Safari.

A great on the go resource!

Works great

No issues, must have login and permission already set up by your university to see textbooks.

Could be great

This could be a great app! However, I cannot access the books. I can see everything else but for the most part I need the books to keep ClinicalKey. If I can view them, will give 5 star rating.

Would be nice if it had landscape support for the iPad

Would be nice if it had landscape support for the iPad

Third Party users

I have online access to clinical keys via the school of medicine (where I attend). However, the access is mediated via proxy.

When I try to log in, I am told: "the email associated with this account is maintained by a third party" and I'm not able to log in using ClinicalKey .

This is an absolute useless app if I can't log in. I simply have to use my browser to log in, and when I do, I get the recommendation to download ClinicalKey , EVERYTIME.

View doesn't rotate

I have a keyboard for my iPad so I only use it in landscape view. It is very awkward to search ClinicalKey because it doesn't rotate.
I will stick with the online version until this gets updated.
