Rest Timer Not Working

Been using the elite version for some time. As of lately, GymLife no longer gives you a notification when your rest time is up when I have the screen locked. I have the disable sleep mode set to on and was working before. I haven’t made any changes to my settings. This has been an issue since the last app update. Previously I would click on the Done button for a particular workout, and lock my phone and put it in my pocket while the rest timer would begin counting, once the timer was done it would give me the notification, it no longer does that. I have to keep my phone screen on in order for the timer to give me the notification. Used to be a great app until this issue began.

My Favorite Workout Tracker

I have been using this app for almost 2 years and it’s really made my strength training workouts more efficient and enjoyable. Setting up new plans are a breeze, and the ability to have folders is amazing (especially if I switch up a plan every other month or so!). I also use my Apple Watch , and it’s great to have the option to follow your workout there— at the very least use it for HR monitoring.

I highly recommend GymLife for anyone that is serious about seeing results and enjoys a friendly user interface that also packs a lot of data if you want to see it!

Best workout App!!!

My fav workout app so far and I’ve tried many if them. Lost the custom feature. Creating my own workouts and keeping track of the muscles I’ve used during the week. The Apple Watch function is a great feature my only issue is that is doesn’t sync my workouts immediately so I usually create it the day before I need it.

Editing and navigating during workout is poor.

The nice feature about GymLife is the pictures for each workout and you can add a photo of a workout routine. I rated a two because you can’t edit or go back during a workout. Once you saved a workout you can’t edit it either. It’s very difficult to navigate from one workout to the next if you have to move to a different machine because it is in use. It’s also very cumbersome to add a workout while you’re still in it. There is no help or support on how to use GymLife , which can be frustrating.

Almost perfect app…but…

The fact that I cannot start the workout on my iPhone and continue it on my Apple Watch, is sad.

Other apps allow you to start a workout and allow you to enter completion of Reps, sets and all that from the watch. Even if i complete a set on my iPhone it’ll sync right up to my watch.

Strong app does it but this app has more exercises than that app. However, this reason along (see above) might not allow me to make the switch over.

Wanted to love it.

I really wanted to love GymLife....unfortunately it left me disappointed. Figuring out how to use the Apple Watch was a pain. No clear instructions that I could find. There also does not seem to be a way to edit a finished workout. While not used all the time the ability to edit a completed workout would be nice for those times that I forget to change the weight or reps. It’s a good work in progress but know where near worth the $10/month subscription.

REACH

I really like this. It helps me create the exact workout I want to do to target the areas that pair well with each other. It’s worth the money ! I love how it tells me how long the work out should take. It’s a guess because you do things in between so it CAN lengthen it. But it’s really awesome.

Only useful with subscription

After spending 30-40 minutes creating two custom workouts, I come to find that you must subscribe to the "elite" plan to create any additional workouts. I understand the developer needs to make money on their apps, but only allowing two workouts on their free version makes it essentially useless without the subscription. Even three workout, which was what I was planning on, would make it significantly better. I don't need yet another paid subscription.

Seriously? 2 workouts?

I’ve been searching for a decent app just to make a schedule that I can quickly pick up and look at while I’m in the gym to keep track of what I’ve got to do next instead of using my notes app. I just need 5 different schedules and GymLife only lets you make 2 before having to get an “elite” subscription. Just give me some ads. I’m not gonna pay for something when you don’t even have a complete catalog of exercises. Some pretty basic ones are missing.

Great App

I love the ability to create my own work outs and color coordinate. It’s very gratifying to see your workouts on the calendar. It’s also nice to see which muscle groups I’ve worked on and which ones I’ve neglected and need to work on.

By

it’s exactly what I’m looking for…but not what I need

GymLife is perfect for planning a workout. but GymLife is finicky to say the least. you have to tap on something twice to close it. the interface just isn’t user friendly. I love but improvements are much needed. especially if wanting to persuade more people to get a subscription

Wonderful

Downloaded every fitness app and by far the best. How do I track my weight of getting better at lifting?

By

Subscription not worth it

This would be an amazing app if you could buy the "extra" features all at once or even piece by piece.
Instead you need to lease GymLife by paying $60 yearly if you want to get any true use out of it.
App is totally hobbled without the subscription.

Developers! Please consider adding the option of buying features, like creating unlimited workouts, permanently. Your subscription model is turning me and a lot of other folks off of purchasing.
We want to buy your app, not rent it!

I ended up going with the LiftRep app. It doesn't have the helpful picture guides for each exercise, but it does let you create a complete weights regimen without holding you for ransom.

Problems downloading workouts

I rarely write reviews but GymLife’s basic functionality of downloading a workout is not working. When I click download I get a message saying that GymLife failed to download the workout file correctly.

Please add a swimming workout!

So many exercises to choose from. But please add swimming strength/cardio workouts! I’d love to track which muscle groups I’m using more accurately, and I try to swim at least once a week.

Not the Best

So I just got GymLife to help me with my physical therapy exercises after knee surgery, and when I press add an exercise (or make a new one), I am not able too. Since these are physical therapy exercises, they can be quite weird, but hopefully you’ll fix this to where I can add my own exercises on it. Thank you!

Perfect

One of the awesome gym log app now in the store. It has very efficient apple watch support so I subscribed for one year. Keep up the good job!!!

By

Great fitness tracker

Only complaint I have is that the weight units are increments of quarter pounds. Should simplify to pounds in increments of 5 because that’s how weights change at the gym

By

Great App!

I just downloaded GymLife today and I'm impressed. It still has room for improvement but it is excellent already as is. User interface is easy, there is an extensive selection of workout types in the library and the ability to filter workouts depending on muscle group and equipment is very useful when creating customized regimens. One thing I want to see in future updates is the ability to repeat 'blocks' of a group of exercises instead of having to put the exercises again individually in a custom workout. Also I would like to be able to have the option to print the workouts or share my custom workouts with other users. Hopefully the developer keeps on improving this great app. If you're on the fence about downloading it - DO IT! You'll like it

Won’t let me add any workouts

I’ve used GymLife for a bit. It works amazing on my iPad, but does not work at all on my iPhone. Every time I try & add a workout, it glitches out & shuts GymLife completely down. So frustrating

Just what I needed!

I landed on GymLife this morning when I needed a weight training workout to do in my hotel. It was super quick to figure out how to navigate and customize everything like reps, sets, and reordering the workout itself. I’m super excited about this and look forward to seeing what the premium version offers.

Might be good

GymLife looks like it has potential but everything is behind a pay wall. Would like to tinker around before committing. Offers a free trial but still don’t want to go through the hassle of canceling if I don’t want it. Also would like to see a one time payment instead of a subscription base model. My current fitness app I’m using was $100 lifetime access. This one is $60/year. For now I’ll stick to my current one.

Best Gym App I’ve Tried So Far

Easiest to use app I’ve tried so far. Good interface and runs smoothly.

Only two complains that make it not as user friendly for me…

1. You can’t superset with cardio exercises and I don’t understand why. Surely I’m not the only person who sometimes supersets with jumping rope, sprints, etc.

2. When looking at my workout “summary” (a list of the exercises in my current workout) the first exercise in every superset is missing which means I have to pause and exit the workout just to look at what’s up next.

Perfect but…

The calendar widget shows you the days you went to the gym but it doesn’t let you know what todays date is

I would like you to look

Hi, GymLife is really good even without the subscription. The only reason I gave it 1 star was so this could be seen, I was wondering if you could add plank hip-dips I have been trying to add this to my exercise routine, but this is one of a few things I was wondering if you could add. Other than that I really enjoy GymLife and it does help me quite a bit, so thank you and please look into the viral exercises that people are using so that you could add them 🎉.
