MathPapa - Algebra Calculator Reviews

So from the title you can already tell why I’m writing this. I am a 12 year old girl (I know, I’m probably too little to do this but..) and its my first year in middle school (6th grade) i have LOTS of trouble with math, especially my homework. So I found MathPapa a while back and it said that it gives you answers and step by step. My mom thought it would be a good idea to download MathPapa because I really needed the help, and not to mention that she didn’t understand pre-algebra either. So I downloaded it! It was really good so far until now.. I was on my next question when it said I have to upgrade to premium for steps..and I know my mom wouldn’t pay 10$ just for a step by step. I really liked the step by step because it helped me so much during the 6th grade! I honestly think that this is a great app but you have to pay. And the problem is that I can’t find another app that shows the steps like yours. And the bigger problem is that my homework is due today and I really need help! Do you have any suggestions of what I can do? Thanks!

How could you do this Math Papa? Since the 7th grade you have helped me survive the endless math homework that was forced upon me, giving me the answer that I needed and the work that went along with it. You were my friend, a great companion for all things math related. But when school rolled around this year, you try to start charging me for the “how to do” part. Why is this? You are a CALCULATOR that was so heavily depended on by many students suffering through their math. And now all of a sudden you get all greedy and take one of the few hopes that we have and pull it out of our grasps. Yes some people might be able to pay for this minor inconvenience and yes you need a way to make a living, but this is not the way. People like me can not and will not pay for certain things like this, having to pay 10 dollars a month for the step by step guide is ridiculous. I’m still keeping MathPapa for a quick conversion here and there, but that’s about it’s good for now. To those who are looking for a free and far superior app, check out Photomath. How could you Math Papa, you’ve changed for the worse...

I dont do reviews AT ALL! This is my first review. Let me start by saying this calculator is one of the best. It absolutely carried me through middle school. However, there’s just one problem. The subscription to get the steps to your problem. The subscription you have to pay to get the steps to your problem is $10. A year? No. $10 a month. Let that sink in for a second. You can be paying $9 a month for a Netflix subscription, but instead, i have to pay $10 a month for a calculator so it can show me the steps to my problem... Do the developers here see the problem with this horrible price tag? I understand you guys need revenue and all, but please lower the price tag and cut it by at least half. $5 a month seems more reasonable. I mean i just cant believe it. I can pay $9 a month for Netflix but i gotta pay $10 a month for a calculator? Now unless this calculator does all my problems correctly without me lifting a finger and shows all the work and guarantees me an A+ on every math test i do and gets me a scholarship to Harvard, there is no way I’m paying $10 a month for this. I will use my hard-earned money on Netflix, thank you very much

Used the website after finding it online when I was looking for help with algebra. I saw a recommendation to download MathPapa , and didn't really want to because I figured it would glitch out, have tons of ads, and require you to pay extra just to do basic things. Boy, was I wrong. Everything is free besides removing ads for two dollars, and they are so non-intrusive that it doesn't even matter anyway. MathPapa works wonders and doesn't just tell you the answers. It details all the work, and while it could do some things better, like having decimal form, fraction form, mixed number form, and maybe even a percent form, it's fine as it is. If they added those things it would be the best math app ever.

I looked at several algebra solution apps and this one is better than most and I did buy the subscription after trying it out. I need it to check my daughters homework when there are particularly tough questions involving fractional negative exponents. Here are the list of improvements that MathPapa needs and some of these might be a deal breaker.
- There is no “clear all” to rid of the equation you just calculated so you need to delete one character at a time before you can enter a new equation. With the addition of a “clear all” key, I would have added another star to make this a 4star app.
- It is hard to enter radicals with different index. You need to enter is as a fractional exponent
- After you enter the exponent with the up arrow, you need to come back down by touching the lower section on the screen and it can be a little temperamental. I wish the up arrow key lowers automatically like a shift key rather than a caps lock key.

I am currently a seventh grader and have loved MathPapa, which has helped me tremendously in algebra. But today I was doing math homework, and I checked one of the problems, which turned out to be wrong. I went to click ‘show work’ so that I could figure out what I did wrong, but I noticed that instead of ‘show work’ the button said something about needing a subscription. Of course, I checked it out to see if I wanted to sign up, but $10 a month for a calculator? Seriously? I would be willing to pay 1 or 2 dollars, but 10? Make your prices more kid friendly, and you’ll have a hit. Everyone can afford a couple dollars out of their allowance, but 10? My whole weekly allowance is $10! And I’m not gonna spend it on a calculator! I’m disappointed and will be searching for another app. I miss the old this app. Enjoying life on your private island? You have two less coconuts cause I’m not paying ten bucks for a stupid calculator.

I have been bad at math ever since middle school. I would constantly fail and retake pre-algebra all throughout middle school and high school. Its not until now that im in college that I finally proved myself to do better at math. Now that im in Calculus, I often times forget how to factor large numbers so I rely on the desktop version of MathPapa. OMG has it helped me throughout college algebra and Calculus. Thank you for being there for me and helping me pass my College algebra class. At the moment I am in Calculus and hopefully I pass this class too. But I want to say if the desktop version of this app is awesome, then im confident that MathPapa version will be good too. Wish me luck on passing Calculus this semester :).

If you have a child asking you for help with their homework, and you’d rather not spend a large amount of time digging back in your brain to remember what you learned in algebra years ago, while they are in tears of frustration (just like you used to be when you were a kid), then get MathPapa. Goofy easy to type in an equation and then get the answer, as well as a list of steps on how to get there so that they can do the all important task of “showing their work“ for the teacher the next day....and actually learn!! It WILL save those tears of frustration (your child’s and possibly yours too!) MathPapa is fantastic!!

MathPapa was undeniably the best app for when I had trouble with math, but now I could just say it’s another calculator in a sense. With the instalment of “ new”premium features you now have to pay to see how to solve the problems step by step. That in itself wouldn’t be so much of a big deal if it wasn’t for the fact that the cost is almost 10 dollars per month!? MathPapa is still great for getting answers to problems but that’s about all it’s good for unless you want to pay a monthly fee to learn something along with it too. I suppose ads weren’t enough to keep MathPapa running? Whatever the case may be for this seemingly major change I hope it isn’t forever because it’s a still a nice calculator but no longer an easy, quick, and free teacher.

I USED TO really like MathPapa. It really helped me with math. Like A LOT. But then there was a study a guide. And there were questions I didn’t understand, and my answers were completely different from the calc’s. And when I wanted to know what I was doing wrong, but you have to pay for step by step. That’s ridiculous. Ur a calculator. Just solve the problems and help us understand how you got the answer. Why do we have to pay for it now? Math Papa, you shouldn’t have done that. I’m really confused. I’m supposed to be ur grandchild. Don’t make me pay to understand things. Plz stop this foolishness because u don’t know how close I am to deleting this and giving u an even worse review. Itz 2 stars right now but I’ll bring it up if MathPapa reads this review, responds, and changes MathPapa so we don’t have to pay for step by step. Please.

MathPapa is very significant, for so many reasons! What is great about MathPapa is first of all you can literally enter any math equation you have and it will solve it. But the really amazing thing that makes MathPapa so wonderful, is that is actually will show you step by step and break it down, to how they got the answer. On my math homework, if i get an answer wrong, the teacher will tell you the correct answer and that is it. So i would never understand how to fix my mistakes. But when i found MathPapa, i could enter the math problems i got wrong and figure out how to solve it step by step. MathPapa is really amazing!!

So I use this all the time. It helps me teach the math using what I recall from class and what the answer does. It’s so helpful. I don’t use it to teach step by step, I just see the answer and try to get it myself. If I’m still stuck, I use step by step. However, I’m never gonna pay a single dime on a freaking calculator. Can there be a "don’t ask again" button for the premium? I can see schools paying extra for it as it is great for different teaching methods, but don’t keep trying to get me to pay. Please take this suggestion into consideration, I’d really appreciate it.

MathPapa is SOOOO helpful!!!! I was struggling in algebra/simplifying (I'm in grade 6) and my uncle showed me MathPapa and it was a true miracle!!! It shows you the problem step by step... like LITERALLY step by step!!! It's 9.5/10 on being understandable. The only thing that I would say isn't that great, is I couldn't find anything on anything OTHER than algebra, and I recall in the preview pictures there was some graphing stuff and maybe some geometry math, but I couldn't find any of that in MathPapa . Overall it's a MUST HAVE APP if you are a student studying algebra!!!

I just want to say that I am in 6th grade and MathPapa has helped me so much. It gives me all the correct answers and if I do not understand how they got the answer it has all the work for me. But I have got to say that the fee was very unexpected and a can not afford it. It is a lot of money and I am only in 6th grade. I have seen another review about this and it is very true. I think that the price should be more kid friendly or no fee at all. They could maybe offer different upgrades or something. I am very sad because I really loved MathPapa but I guess that I will have to find on that is cheaper because I can not afford 10$ a month for a Calculator!!

I have always struggled in math, and had a strong hatred for it. Sometimes I would be spending 2+ hours on my homework (a massive waste of time) and have no time after for free time. MathPapa has cut my math struggle to a minimum. Depending on the type of teacher you have, I would get MathPapa just in case. You might get an amazing teacher who teaches really well, or you might get a mediocre teacher who doesn't know a finger from a carrot stick. My main purpose for me getting MathPapa was to save my grade from failing.

MathPapa is by far the most functional and accurate algebra/factoring app I've ever used. One thing I love in paticular is that, while it gives you the answer to whatever you put in, it gives you a step-by-step explanation as to how the answer was reached (good for learning the material yourself, even better for copying down if your teacher requires you to show your work~). There also aren't any fees or hidden pay-to-use deals, unless you want to remove ads for $2. Overall, definitely worthy of five stars!

MathPapa is such an advanced algebra calculator. It saved me when I had a math test the following day, and I had much trouble trying to understand material. I tried looking in my textbook for an answer and solution to a problem, but it provided little to no help at all. But, I found this amazing app. I entered the two system of equation equations into it, and PRESTO!! MathPapa solved my question in less than a second. Anyone from college level to elementary level could use this. It's so simple! Thank you for making this glorious app!

This is the best app of all time. It helped me so much. For the people that said there weren't multiplication symbols, there are. They are the digital-kind not the line over a dot with another dot over the line. Instead of the devision sign, you write it as a fraction, they both do the same thing. Example: x/4 that is the same as x divided by 4. And for the multiplication symbol, it is just the * key. And MathPapa DOES do fractions. It just looks like x/4, then this app does us a favor and puts it to look like the well know fraction. You're welcome.

I discovered MathPapa while searching frantically online for a refresher on order of operations to help my daughter in Pre-algebra. I am blown away by how helpful this is. Showing the work allows parents and kids to truly teach themselves how to solve the equation. It makes checking homework take about 1/10th of the time it used to. Now I can check the answers quickly and the ones that are wrong, we will go through MathPapa and see where the mistake is. Thank you for simplifying this momma’s life!

So basically MathPapa is amazing and it is just perfect. The subscription is just a minor inconvenience but i know ya’ll working hard. The only thing i would like to have is a history button. Like if you pressed it you would see all the questions you put in. Just a small suggestion and good job on making a reliable, accurate, and easy to use calculator!😄👍
