Uses T-Mobile Network, but still poor service in my area

Read reviews that said telephone service was excellent, and saw they used T-Mobile network, which, according to the T-Mobile map has good 4G service in my area, and fair 5G service in my area. However, in my area, I am not able to get any reliable service from Tello. I called Tello, and they say it’s just T-Mobile service is not strong in my area; I called T-Mobile, and they disagree. T-Mobile says that T-Mobile customers get priority service on the T-Mobile towers, and the piggy back services get whatever’s left. Is this true, I don’t know; I don’t have T-Mobile service. However, I do know that the Tello 4G service just doesn’t work in doors, or out doors, in North Tallahassee, 10 miles from the Georgia border. This may be great service for some people, but not usable for me. Fortunately, the most I will possibly lose is my $14 prepayment… not sure if they give refunds, but will find out soon.

Awesome service & app is good too!

I’m so happy with Tello. I just switched and the migration process couldn’t have been any easier. MyTello is easy to use and works fine for me so far. For under $15/month per line, you can’t beat this service! I was paying over $150 with T-Mobile, FOR JUST MYSELF, which is completely ridiculous.

The only thing I’m a *little* hesitant about is the lack of 5G on the new iPhones. I hope Tello is able to work on that soon. It’s not a huge deal because I don’t notice too much of a difference between LTE and 5G, anyway, at least in my area. Though I did pay off my iPhone 12 Pro to switch to Tello, so I’d like to see full features.

Good service, eh support, meh app

Tello asked for a review but it wasn't posted here, so I'm not sure where that went. This is what I said... I'm not sure why I'd need such prominent contacts or dialer, but it'd be great to have more key features that we get told to use to website to access now instead. Also it just seems pretty unreliable for important stuff like updating account information, contact information, etc. Even this star rating feature is busted and doesn't allow any selection. I guess that tracks. [Review solicitation inside MyTello , that didn't get to MyTello store for some reason, asked for a star rating but couldn't select any stars] Another thought - Tello made a big announcement this year before I joined about adding visual voicemail but it still doesn't work. That might be more useful to add to MyTello than much of what they do offer

So far it’s great !!

I had an extra iphone I paid off with sprint .since tello uses sprint/T-Mobile towers and cdma sims etc ....my phone was able to connect in less than a minute without having to get a new sim w tello .iam sure any qualified phone will also do the same .1gb ..unlimited talk and text not bad for 10$ ..just what my 10 yr old needs . Once I finish paying off my current sprint device I will cancel and connect it with tello $39 unlimited data +talk+text vs $113 w sprint .you cant go wrong with saving right now .im happy I found out about tello and been recommending it to fam /friends :)

Tello is ripping off their users

The Tello company is lying about its subscription plans.
The “unlimited data” plan which I paid a lot of money for, is actually not different from the 8Go plan and other similar plans. It is actually a 25Go plan and past that amount of data, your data speed gets slowed down so much you can barely use it.
Why do they specify 2/4/6/8Go of data for those plans, but say “unlimited data” for the 25Go plan? Because they want you to fall into their trap.
I contacted the customer service to tell them I want to end my contract and get a refund but they refused to give my money back. So I am stuck with a mobile operator that steals from people.
Please, do not make the same mistake as I did and go for any other mobile operator.

Beware GSM switch over from CDMA

I have several lines with tello and they sent me the new GSM SIM cards so I made the mistake of installing it in one of my iPhones and now I get no signal at work and at home.
I contacted them to switch back to my old cdma sim and they refuse to do so. So now I have one iPhone that has no signal at work and at home and spotty elsewhere. I’ll have to wait until the end of 2021 before I have a signal again and yet they want to charge me monthly for no signal.

I spoke with Sprint level two tech and they said in August they will begin the rollout of switching their sprint customers to T-Mobile, they told me to wait until then because after that they will upgrade the towers by the end of the year to GSM as well for stronger signal strength.

Great service. App needs sms functionality

The customer service at Tello is excellent. The only other company I can compare it to is AirBnB. You can always reach Tello's customer support quickly and they speak a comprehensible English. I had no problems with the phone service.

The only "con" is the lack of texting (sms) functionality in the iPhone app. Pls add it asap and I will change the rating to All Stars.

Best service in California

The Tello service is one of the best service I had their is no contacts no hidden fees and the best thing is that I only pay for what I need. Service is great I always have coverage in my area not like t-mobile I always had zero bars of service with them and I was paying 50 dollars a mont wit t- Mobile. Then I switch to sprint my bill was always over 100 until I found Tello did some research on it and seen great reviews about their service and decided to give them a chance and yes it was my best decision ever!!!

Why I left sprint

This is THE BEST cell phone service I have had. I live in the state Oklahoma and have not had any problems with this app. When I was with sprint I was paying nearly $80 per month and they had the worst customer service. Thanks to this app my bill is under $20 a month. The best part you’re not obligated to contract and you have options in terms of moving your plans up or down depending on your needs. #Winning

Nice Start But...

I like the new opportunity for a mobile phone service however because I heavily depend on unlimited data the 10gb data option is good until it runs out. Then performance is slow and ultimately stops. The only option Tello had was for me to purchase the same plan again. For that I’m giving 3 stars. Unlimited data is extremely important for my line of work.
Customer service has been outstanding whenever I had an issue.
Offer unlimited data for a 5star rating from me.

Can not log in

I became a Tello customer this week moving my number over from boost. I’m going to move another number over next week from Cricket. Tello is good value for money and allows me to make an expensive international calls. I downloaded MyTello and requested the one time pin. It was received but when I enter it into the login it rejects it. I tried this on two separate days with the same result I am using an iPhone XS and have had no luck whatsoever. I am accessing my account via a web browser instead as a workaround.

The perfect solution

I LOVE MyTello/service. I may be a unique situation as I work from home and have a lot of access to free WiFi. By using google voice I have been able to make a $10 balance last more than a year and still have great cell service thru Sprint at my beck and call when needed. I plan on being a Tello customer for a very long time.

In my opinion this is the most affordable and quality network in US. No hidden costs to use in US. International calling is also at extremely low price.
Truly admire their service and prompt response online.
Super awesome and is worth way more than 5 stars, as long as they continue providing in the same manner.

Figured out everything

To get the otp the first time you must log in via browser and enter the pin given in one the first emails you receive from Tello. Enter that pin and then you’ll receive the otp. Use your number and the otp then you can start using MyTello .

Poor service, worse company, useless app

2020. Tello now says i only get 3 months of pay as you go service per purchase. After having almost 2 years of service from a single purchase. This policy was not in the original terms in 2018, or i would not have purchased service.

Tello is now as lousy and sleazy a company as Sprint. I would laugh, except i dont like to encourage crooks to steal my money.

Tello has Illegal and terrible terms of service, all should avoid this criminal company of thieves.

MyTello is poor. You cannot buy or change a plan, pay a bill, change billing. MyTello will not let you txt. It will only allow VOIP data calls, and you can review last 30 days of use. That is it.

App is pretty worthless and useless.

Find a better mobile provider on a better network.

So far great

Connected a sprint phone without any issues took about 5 min the most easy install .have full 4 bars so far theirs no issues with service and for the price of 10$ a month can’t even complain excellent for my 11 yr old.

Wonderful service and wonderful app

The ability to wifi call helps bridge the gap perfectly. Allows calls over wifi or lte (sprint doesn't even have volte yet)! The prices are great and MyTello and customer service is wonderful. Highly recommend for people who have good sprint coverage in their area!

Need more features of receiving calls, texting, network coverage map. Please add feature of receiving calls and texting. Also, add a network coverage map to MyTello for the ease of looking up the network when I travel. Also, add calling, receiving and texting from a browser.

Cool but...

This is a legit service because it’s super cheap and it gives you full 4G LTE data, however, WiFi texting would be excellent, since sprint has the least amount of coverage of the 4 big companies, and I constantly travel

Tello is easy to set up and use!
