Frequent stops and many “non-starters”

The idea of classical focus streaming is good and I like the way I can search recordings by composers, soloists, ensembles and many criterion that none of the other popular streaming services can match. The lossless streaming is also nice.

However, the connection issues are very annoying. Usually, after a couple skips to find the right music for the moment, IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic will be stuck at time zero, with the loading/connecting icon spinning forever. Once this happens, you will not be able to play any other work as they will also be “non-starters”. Only killing (swipe up in iOS) and restarting IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic could fix this. Also, the music might suddenly stop in the middle of a piece for no apparent reason sometimes.

Also, as someone already mentioned, there is no easy way you can see the album cover when you are playing the music. The only time IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic shows the album cover is when you actually play the “album” instead of a piece you located through search. I am not sure about future generations but most of us today still identify certain recordings by the album covers. There is no point showing the same Beethoven’s portrait when I go through his piano sonatas from various performers.

Great collection and curated playlists.

Hello,
IDAGIO is a great tool and music service that provides that user a range of different high quality lossless recordings. The music is updated regularly and new recordings are available instantly.
However, IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic needs a bit more work, it is not very user friendly and has bugs that needs fixing:
- You cannot reorder songs in a playlists you created.
- There’s not shuffle option when listing to songs anywhere, songs play in the order they are in, and you always have to choose the piece you want to listen to.
- You cannot choose songs to play next or put them in queue.
- There’s no option to choose ‘next similar song by different player’ just like in the website. This is an excellent option that is missing from IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic.
- Text is a bit small and hard to read, especially of performers’ names. Can be eye straining sometimes.
- Music stops playing after you receive a phone call.
- There are internet connection problems, especially when streaming on cellular network.

Suggestions for Review:
- Please add a Dark Mode option. The menus can be too bright, especially when browsing at night.
- Can you please add the option to have the album’s artwork appear in the music player, instead of the composer’s picture. This is very helpful when choosing between music pieces by looking at the picture than just reading the recordings names.
- Can you please add Force Touch support for supported devices.

Thank you.

Perfect, But Missing One Feature

IDAGIO truly is the ultimate classical music lover’s service. No other music streaming service (including Primephonic) comes close to matching the catalogue and search capabilities that IDAGIO has to offer. IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic interface feels familiar, is clean and easy to use. The only missing feature holding me back from five stars is the fact that you cannot automatically set a certain playback quality for WiFi and cellular streaming. For example, to tell IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic to automatically use AAC 320 KBPS for cellular streaming and Lossless FLAC for WiFi. While the streaming quality can be switched manually, it is a bit of pain to have to do so every time I switch from WiFi to cellular data and vice-versa. This is one feature that Primephonic holds over IDAGIO. I hope to see this feature integrated in the (hopefully) near future, and then I will without hesitation award IDAGIO its fifth star.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I’ve struggled for a while trying to organize my classical collection on iTunes without much success for a simple reason: iTunes organizes music by track. That doesn’t work for classical music. When I found IDAGIO I cleared my classical collection from iTunes and I rebuilt it on IDAGIO. Now I find myself listening to IDAGIO all the time. I love the sound quality and the search engine. I can find what I want to listen to quickly and I can enjoy it and get lost in the music thanks to this little app.

One request to the product management team: Please give us CarPlay support. I want to see IDAGIO on the CarPlay screen in my car. You’ll make a lot of us very happy when it finally comes out.

Improving almost daily!

It’s clear they rushed the service out while it was missing many bare bone features (like knowing which track in a playlist is the one playing) but they’re commitment to improvement is clear as the updates are coming quickly.
It is an extensive library but there are still some hiccups. For example, if you’re searching for a box set of performances which contains several volumes, the resulting searches don’t show the volumes together. From there it’s very difficult to play the full set without hunting each volume down and placing it a separate playlist.
There’s also no way of telling what’s popular since the number of times a piece has been listened to is missing and there is no rating system.
They’re very quick to respond to issues or questions and they follow up diligently.
One feature which is unique and innovative is their ‘Mood’ selector which will provide you with an instant playlist/radio channel based upon an extensive choice of moods from Festive, Radiant & Joyful to Sad, Tragic, and Melancholic and everything in between!
Despite some of the early hiccups I’m giving it four stars because it’s an important service for classical music lovers and it’s a great collection.

Exactly what is needed

I had been thinking for a long time about how classical music had no approachable streaming service and I had even worked on how a proper service should be organized. This is almost exactly how I had envisioned it and even better. For anyone who is turned off by the subscribe, consider for a moment how little money there is in classical music. Consider how the appreciation of classical music has been fading. Paying for this service is giving another chance for classical music to be explored at ease and to breath again in this new age of technology. I immediately signed up for the service because I believe this team deserves every cent of it. Thank you for this great app

Excellent curation. Everything classical fans dream of.

I’ve been dedicated to classical music lifelong and consume massive amounts weekly. Prior to this I used general music services which were Ok. But IDAGIO has the power of discovery, both giving me incredible access to even obscure works but also excellent curation and the discovery of things I’ve never found but love. It has made this already quite broad classical fan even broader. I’ve recommended it to all my friends and become a massive fan of IDAGIO. I’m opening IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic every day, all day.

Btw, very responsive developer. I used to have three suggestions here but they fixed all of those things within a few months. It’s ridiculous. Very impressive.

Primephonic orphan’s

I came to IDAGIO when primephonic sold itself to Apple who may have a dedicated classical music app “next year “. The difference between the major streaming services is more about search, convenience and recommendations than the size of their collection. IDAGIO has a fine collection and good streaming quality but forming playlists is clumsy, usually it has to be done track by track instead of by album. Also, when browsing, it lacks Apple’s convenient option of “play next or play last”. This useful when you see something you like but don’t want to interrupt what is currently playing. It may be the best that is currently available but I hope it improves

Really Nice! (Aside from subscription)

I really love classical music, and IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic has a seemingly endless supply of it! Therefore, I thoroughly enjoy IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic; however, I docked one star bc it does require a paid subscription. FRET NOT: upon first opening it so generously gives 2 weeks free of the subscription, but after that, tbh I am unsure of how much it costs. I am not one to pay for subscriptions, so at first I was going to stop it after the trial was up, but IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is so good that I may continue it (depending on how much it asks me to pay). Overall, wonderful app, I recommend trying it even if you do not wish to continue the subscription beyond the trial (which is completely understandable) bc its really nice to have all of this classical music if only for 2 weeks.

Orchestral film scores please!

I know it’s not technically classical music, but there are so many modern film scores that are just as ingenious as many classical works. I wish more orchestral film scores were a part of the IDAGIO catalogue - hopefully sometime down the line they will get them. Scores from John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner to name a few. There are a couple of their tracks in the catalogue but it’s far from being a full set of music for those artists.

For now, it’s still an incredible app. I love the mood picker! Being able to glance through so many versions of a certain movement - it’s perfect for classical music lovers.

Thanks for a great app!

Best streaming for classical music period

I've always been fascinated by classical music but was intimidated by the hugeness of everything. So many composers, so many symphonies. But Idagio puts fun in classical music. The home page shows new releases and some highlights based on what you've listened to. This is a good place to start of you have no idea where to start. Then you can pick a station based on mood. I find this feature to be very useful and accurate. And then, you can search by a specific computer, performance, symphony, whatever. It's very very detailed, which I love. You can also upgrade to listen in lossless format. Really just amazing app all together.

Sonos Streaming Stopped?

In general I love idagio and use it every day - BECAUSE it streams to my Sonos system. Suddenly today Sonos streaming would not work and a dialog popped up saying I have to reauthorize idagio with Sonos. I’ve done that twice now (apparently successfully since the Sonos app still shows the idagio service and idagio playback still works FROM the Sonos app) - but the idagio app just freezes every time I select to stream to Sonos. I’m putting this ‘ticket’ here because I see no place anywhere in either the idagio website or the idagio app to ask for help. Edit: I tested the Mac and Windows idagio apps and they are both streaming fine to Sonos. It’s the iOS and iPadOS apps that are failing (for me).

Incredible service with app that needs some work

The service is incredible. Bravo! A small issue with the application. For desktop and phone: we need a way to filter, search through and sort our own collection. HIGHLY IMPORTANT. I imagine all users paying for the service are classically inclined and therefore will have more saved in their collection than just a few, well known works. In other words, support for big libraries! (Another small note: album artwork needs to be adjusted to show smaller so that it is no distorted on phones with bigger screen like iPhone pro max)

Essential

This is the kind of app that allows you to set aside or even work through your internet anxiety because IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic represents one of the best qualities of internets: the access to history and art and culture here in the form of that most intrinsic of human creations: beautiful music. IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is truly for anyone of any age living anywhere in the world to enjoy a vast collection of high quality music at its most pure and artistic. I love many forms of music, and there are many apps for curating your modern music collection, but this is something essential for all music lovers young and old to explore and experience the deep roots music has in the formation of humanity.

Outstanding streaming service, BUT

The BUT is: if you decide to get a paid subscription, do it on the IDAGIO web site. If you do it on IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic Store 1) you will not get credited for it (your account will say that you have a free subscription, not a paid subscription, and you won’t get the benefits that you paid for) and 2) You will need to have a sufficient balance in your Apple account. As usual, Apple requires you to lend them money, interest free, in order to make purchases. They have your credit card number; why can’t they charge it directly for purchases?

Fantastic app to open the world of classical music

Have been a subscriber for a few weeks, and can’t praise IDAGIO enough for the thoughtful organization of IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic, which follows the natural ways one thinks about classical repertoire - composers, works, albums, and artists. No more frustrating and fruitless “artist=Beethoven” types of searches as you suffer on other music streaming apps. Especially appreciate the ability to easily access and listen to multiple (often, ALL) recordings of a given work - if you are a music student, IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is for you! Thanks, IDAGIO, for your care and attention to the classical music listener experience!

Best app for common people

I enjoyed IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic quite a bit. I am not the kind of people who know classical music a lot or super professional. I usually just listen when I need some relaxation and don’t care much about listening an entire concert. IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic fits best on my needs and the best part of IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is it allows you to choose music based on your moods. Usually I don’t really have some particular favorite composers, just want to have something playing to make my mind comfortable. Such choosing music based on moods options reduces my time on picking musics. Really enjoy IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic!

Top notch

I’ve never left an app review. Until now. I wouldn’t say Idagio has changed my life, but it has come pretty close. My work as a musician has flourished with this tool. I’ve discovered volumes of work in the past year with IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic.
1) The sheer volume of material is literally bottomless.
2) The quality of material is outstanding. From the best recordings of classical music’s best to the curated playlists, the selection is great. If I wanted to search the Chaconne in D Minor and compare soloists such as Hahn or Perlman, this is your tool.
3) Subscription options are numerous. I’ve recently upgraded my subscription to Lossless quality and am quite sure I’ll never go back to a lesser quality.
4) It’s a beautiful app.
5) The Christmas playlists are hands-down the best Christmas music you will ever find.
From ancient medieval chorales, to Beethoven, Bach and Brahms, to Ludovico Einaudi, IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic will (almost!) change your life.

Welcome to North America, IDAGIO!

I am a professional musician and have been looking for this kind of thorough, scholarly, and and very well organized service for years! Want to study performance practice of Beethoven symphonies? You have over 290 versions/recordings of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony alone! Further, I love the way Idagio has included local performers in the mix. Likewise, many composers whom one may not know are included, always a plus. I am thoroughly impressed with this service and I highly recommend to any lover of great music. A service worth listening to and supporting!

Nearly perfect

I adore IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic. The sound quality, content, and app functionality is top notch. My one complaint is the lack of liner notes. My other fav streaming service is Qobuz because most albums have pdf’s of the album booklets which contain multitudes of important information, especially for classical albums. I didn’t think this was a big deal until I experienced it and realized the enhanced experience of being able to read more from performers, conductors, and historical information while listening to an album. If this were added, IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic would be 5 stars for sure.

Love the music, love lossless, HATE the crashing, always always crashing

I have had IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic for some time now from the first day I heard of it, and to have lossless classical music blasting in my ears from my phone is beyond glorious. But ever since the newest iOS (and subsequent updates) went live it is rare for an album to play all the way through without crashing. Whether through cell, Wifi, or any other type of connection or if I have downloaded. IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic still crashes while playing. 4 minutes into the first movement of a piece or 5 minutes left on the album. It is beyond frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated. I LOVE IDagio but if I can't listen to the music I love or music I'm just discovering without it crashing, what's the point. I have an
iPhone X

Great but…..

Everything is great except a couple things. Please put an option for sorting oldest to newest or newest to oldest so I don’t have to take 10 minutes to scroll down the entire list. Because right now you have an option to list albums by publishing date. It only lists them from newest to oldest. I just would like an option for oldest to newest. So navigating IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is a little tedious. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I love the music selection and everything else. I tend to gravitate towards the older recordings so please fix this issue. Navigating IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic is the only thing that needs work in my mind. I got tired of having to do that so I canceled it. Once this is fixed I will come back. Thanks

Interface hard.

Not intuitive at all. Pick tunes by color just dumb. No “Home” icon. No “Contact” that is easy to find. Apparently made for folks who already know classical music. Not for anyone wishing to learn more. I give up. Too hard. UPDATE. After posting, got suggestions from Idagio on how to better use interface and learn more. Appreciate the guidance as the entire reason I subscribed was to become more knowledgable in an area in which I am admittedly ignorant. Could still use a “Contact” link so users could ask questions. And a “Home” link. I only received the guidance because I wrote negative review. Also, not all music at same volume. Will have to turn some up to max to hear, then turn down next piece as it is blasting.

My Go-To App

I’ve been a lover of classical music all my life. I ascribe to Nietzsche’s notion that “[w]ithout music, life would be a mistake.” Unlike popular music, a classical piece can be recorded by a wide variety of orchestras and conductors, even, at times, with different instrumentation. In other words, no one size fits all. That is why I’m so pleased with IDAGIO. Its library seems to be limitless. I love that I can find every piece I want to hear on IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic , performed by a laundry list of orchestras and conductors. Even some of the recordings I “cut my teeth on” back in the 50s are available here. Thank you, IDAGIO, for helping to sustain my love of music!

So-so app but amazing service

IDAGIO is a *fantastic* service, but IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic needs work — a lot if it. It’s stable, so it doesn’t crash, which reality matters. But the user interface is lacking, and the user experience is worse. For example, when I use it with a Sonos system, the IDAGIO app forgets that it’s playing music — so there's no way to pause / stop the music (I have to use Sonos), identity what's playing (same or, worse, Shazam?!), or even just change the volume (and IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic doesn’t respond to the volume buttons on an iPhone, so you have to use the slider buried behind the AirPlay icon). IDAGIOStreamClassicalMusic ’s screen is consumed by fairly static rows of offerings (do we *really* need it to recommend Bach or Vivaldi every time we open it?), instead of dynamic presentations of what you’ve listened to or might like. In fact, accessing what you’ve listened to / like / etc is consistently difficult, as if it were a design goal — it always takes too many steps, and the way things are presented is always disappointing). But IDAGIO is an amazing service, their app basically works, and I want to support them, so four stars. They could do SO MUCH to make this a genuinely transformative app. I hope they do.
