TL;DR at bottom (To long; Didn’t read)

Let me first start this review saying how awesome this app used to be. this app used to work by letting you take a picture of a math problem and it shows you not only the solution, but the steps you take while solving the problem. this app is also searching other sites, although it uses a preloaded Cymath and Wolfram Alpha websites if you want to make sure your answer is right. Those also showed step by step solutions but Old this app had step by step solutions you could understand easily.

Now let me tell you what Socratic is like to users (mainly kids) right now. Suppose you take a picture of a problem, like x^2 + 11x + 30. New this app does not give you the answer. It gives you the formula (ax^2 +bx^2 + c) and how to use the formula with using a b and c and not actual numbers, or the answer. If you want the answer you have to go on LITERALLY A SITE FOUND ON A GOOGLE SEARCH shown as u scroll down and wait for the website to load before finally getting your answer. Lots of hoops, not straight to the point like this app was before.

Socratic is horrible and be prepared to lose a lot of users all because of update 5.0. Shame on you.

TL;DR: this app does not help you in homework, nor does it give you the answer to your math problems. It just searches google and that’s it. Do not download Socratic.

To whoever is reading this, you must be confused to why everyone is talking about why the update sucked, and what did they exactly update well here’s an explanation

Before the update Socratic would both give you the answer but explain it in a way where you knew how to do the rest of the math problems you needed help with initially. I sometimes used it just for the answers, but most times it was because I had trouble with a specific problem. Some math problems got more complicated and to understand it I would use Socratic, it would go into a step by step process to make sure you, the user, understood how to do the problem. Sometimes it would provide links and would show you graphs so you fully understood. I also used it to check my answers to see if they were right.

Now after the update you can’t really do any of that. It tells you how to do specific things but doesn’t show the step by step on how to do the problem. For example you could in put, 5+4-3, and it’d show you how to add and subtract but wouldn’t show you step by step what to add or subtract first. I used to love and recommend Socratic but this partnership and new update completely ruined Socratic for me.

I downloaded Socratic to help me understand my math homework more when trying to makeup work that I missed. It works well with taking pictures and explaining, but it only explains simple questions or questions other people have asked. It works well for problems in like 1st-5th grade, but when you start to do middle school math with it, it doesn’t have the question you asked or it explains it in a confusing way. I had a question of “Triangle A has side lengths 2, 3, and 4. Triangle B has side lengths of 4, 5, and 6. Is Triangle A similar to Triangle B?” Similar meaning same angle measures and possibly different side lengths. It gave me an answer but not for my questions. Google this app gave me answers that had to do with right angles, side lengths, and the differences between types of triangles but not what I was looking for. I gave Socratic 4 stars because it’s a good app for younger kids learning math but not for middle and high school math. Socratic does not seem to understand the question or gives you the answer to a “similar” question when you ask for a question more than just a simple “_x_=_”. I hope Google can fix this because this app is a very easy and understandable app to use, it just doesn’t meet the requirements for explaining math to older students.

I used to have Socratic back when I was in middle school before it was run by Google. However, I came back to it as I am now a student at my local university and I found that it has improved a lot since Google has taken over. Essentially Socratic is a central hub for all of the knowledge that can be found on Google including quizlets and random and useful facts. It is extremely helpful for taking quizzes and tests and also for actually learning things. However the only reason I gave it a four out of five is because it still isn’t perfect through no fault of its own. Unfortunately in my book a perfect five would have to mean that Socratic has all the knowledge that you need unfortunately it doesn’t but for me it’s the highest rating that Socratic could ever achieve. Would definitely recommend for anyone.

As an upperclassman in high school: take my word for this - Socratic is amazing! As an AP/honors students I sure know what it’s like to not do assignments (due to tiredness, laziness, or legitimate reasons) or copy from friends the period before the assignment is due. I also know what it’s like to be an active user of Quizlet whenever I need to look up some test or quiz answers for reviews/studying or for straight up cheating (lol). But what we all know is that searching up each individual question on google and then having to go through several Quizlets to find the correct answers for each and every one can be quite time consuming and tedious. However, with this wonderful app it finds all the Quizlets for you in an instant by just taking a picture of the question! Even if this app can’t find an answer, it provides the user with at least a legitimate, scholarly definition of the subject matter of your question! In short, this app is a amazing and l totally recommend it to any type of student! Honestly, this app came through and helped me passed my finals this semester!

Im currently planning on taking Chemistry in the following year but decided to do a little work and learn a bit before hand before school starts so I am ready. As I was studying I was trying sooo hard to find the answer to this one question I had and it’s difficult because you don’t have a tutor and Chemistry is not the current class I’m taking so it would be difficult to ask my teacher, but I literally typed it in and the answer was there and SIMPLIFIED. ITS SO MUCH EASIER THAN SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET WITH ALL THESE DIFFICULT DEFINITIONS!! I got emotional because I have got so frustrated and worked on this one question for hours and now I just have a peace of mind that Socratic was created. Definitely recommend 10/10

Socratic is literally one of the best app to all the questions! Socratic answer questions like: math, reading, history, science, things that happened million of years ago, etc. You can even take a picture of your worksheet and Socratic will scan it then answer your questions! Now don’t get me wrong, there may be a few questions that probably can’t be answered but that’s Okay, no app will answer LITERALLY EverY question you have. Once you get the hang of how to use Socratic, you’ll want to think about Socratic every time you have to answer questions! When people see me using Socratic, people always ask me “ WOW, what app is that called!” “I need that app for my questions!”

Honestly Socratic helped me so much it solves word problems and regular problems with just a snap. Most math picture apps have taken forever to find a problem that is even close to the one you are trying to solve but Socratic takes only a second to find the specific problem and figure out the concept and how to explain it. Then it proceeds to tell you the steps it took to finding the answer and shows you helpful videos when trying to grasp the concept. It also shows you a web search of the problem and results that it thinks would help you. Overall this is the best app I have used so far when trying to solve a problem on my homework

are you like me? waiting 6 days before school starts to start your 40 page geometry packet? if so, Socratic is Socratic to get. i use Socratic religiously. i would have never passed algebra 1 without Socratic and i would most definitely not be getting a good first grade in geometry. to whoever made Socratic this app, i hope both sides of your pillow are cold, your charger always works, your blanket always covers your feet, you never step on a lego, you always find your size in shirts, pants, shoes, etc. , i hope that you live the life you have desired since a child, i hope Socratic is making you millions. i love you random person who made Socratic. i hope life treats you well <3

this app is the most useful app I've ever used. I needed help with my homework having missed so many or days or simply just not understanding the lesson. I've tried so many apps but none seemed to give me the results I wanted, but then a friend recommended this app which changed everything.

Not only was I able to get the answers I needed, this app provided examples of the problems and how I should work out my problems. It provided the answer, an explanation of how to work things out, an example of similar problems, a video that corresponded with the topic, and other sources such as Google while being simple enough for anyone to understand. Thanks to this app, my classes and homework have never been easier!

My teachers go super fast for every lesson. This is a LIFESAVER. GET Socratic . It is so helpful and gives you many options if you don’t understand their resources it gives you others along with videos you can watch and it’s very very very helpful. Especially if you have teachers like mine. I love how it’s super slow with you and gives you just a little more help on that subject. I definitely recommend this to anybody who doesn’t understand the subject or just want some more help or even learn something new. Answers if you need some and it comes it exclamation to and if you need to watch videos and that’s amazing the best FREE! Don’t miss out at all just stop and try it!

I have only used Socratic for 10 minutes, and it is absolutely amazing. Yesterday, I saw a TikTok that said it was a great app, so I downloaded it. Today, I was doing my math homework and realized this would be a great time to try it. I took a photo of a word problem, and it showed me a pdf of the answer key. (I didn’t use the key for the whole thing. I did the questions then checked my answers with the key, so I could teach myself if I was wrong.) Just for fun, I took a picture of my social studies homework. Socratic told me a few things about Ancient Greece, and boom. Pdf of the answer key. If you are a burnt out gifted kid or have piles of missing assignments, Socratic is for you!

This is the most amazing app last night I totally forgot about math homework at 11:30 and really was just so tired and needed to sleep but really didn’t want to get a bad grade for not doing it. So I searched up math on Socratic Store and this popped up and I’m so glad it did. THIS IS LITERALLY A LIFESAVER it took me 6 minutes to finish 30 problems because Socratic is so amazing at showing you how to do the problem quickly and then giving you the right answer I got a %100 on the math homework. Not only did it give me the answer it helped me understand the problem more then my teacher could. I’m so thrilled that I found this new app!!!! Definitely download it. It doesn’t make you pay AT ALL for any answers or anything!!! It’s so amazing!!! %100 RECOMMEND!!!!

I was a bit skeptical at first before downloading this assuming it was going to give inaccurate results like the other apps. I saw that this had good reviews and I decided to check it out myself to see what all the fuss is about .it turns out that taking a picture of a math problem can give you the results you need, including a step by step process that explains everything . I am very satisfied with this. Thank you so much for making this.i’ve been struggling with math lately and this helps a lot. So far so good I guess I’ll have to see if it can do the same with other subjects.

This won’t necessarily work all math problems and will sometimes give inaccurate result. I would still recommend this either way and it’s still good, just some minor flaws.

I love all things apps that help you handle real-life problems. That’s why I have an arsenal of homework, study, and scholarly apps, two of them being Photomath and this app Math and Homework help. I like both for different reasons
Photomath- Photomath can do a lot of advanced equations and problems, as well as graphs. However, it does not possess the ability to do word problems.
this app- this app can do math, history, science and English. All the other subjects besides, this app’s math can do word problems but not a lot of advanced equations.
Both apps have the ability to scan, as well as give detailed instructions on how to actually do the thing they just gave you the answer for. They are both extremely valuable apps in my possession, and as a student with honors classes, I feel ready to face whatever my teachers throw at me. Thank you, this app and Photomath

I love this up so much It’s so good for cheating I mean learning and developing my knowledge further than I ever would. I would 10 out of 10 recommend Socratic because it’s so easy to use and amazingly laid out. Not only does it give you the answers it says where they get them from which I think is incredible that I can go back and cite sources. The only thing I recommend is to. Oh wait there is nothing because this is the best app on the market and I should be getting paid for this review but hey I’m not. Socratic is also free and super easy to download. Socratic helps me and pretty much all of my classes. Getting my answers super easy I mean learning and readings to get my answers. Because if you see this teachers I’m definitely not cheating.... Socratic is definitely one of my favorite definitely recommend.

I love Socratic for so many reasons. I love that it gives you answers from different sources because certain sources give better explanations than other for certain problems. It’s really good at recognizing the text in a text book or my handwriting and I have really bad hand writing. It helps when I am doing a new type of problem and to make sure I am doing it right and if I don’t know how it can teach me how. It has helped me do so well in Algebra I. I just have one problem I recently got an iPhone X and now Socratic is all messed up. When you try to crop your problem it doesn’t do it right and it is all off center. It almost makes Socratic unusable. I understand the phone is still new and it takes time to update, but if you could do it as fast as possible it would mean a lot because I need Socratic. Thank you for making this amazing app it is far better than Photomath

I never write reviews for apps. In fact this is my first ever review for any app. However, I just had to write one for Socratic. This is the best learning app ever. Mark my words. The best ever. From science to math to English any subject you want Socratic will have it. From taking a picture to using the microphone to ask a question Socratic never fails! If you have a specific question sometimes it even pulls up flash cards that associate with that question giving you the exact answer! I love Socratic so much it never lets me down you should totally download Socratic. It even has 3 math apps into this so when you take a pic of a math equation it’ll search the answer through those 3 different apps. It’s like a 3 in 1! Download Socratic seriously it’s a game changer this changed my life. Thanks to Socratic I understand every material given to me in school. Thank you this app !

When I was in high school, I was struggling with math, I didn’t know how calculus or inequalities work. I was failing class due to the teacher failing to teach us about the importance on how to do those equations. When I saw my friend use Socratic called this app, he really helped me and he told me “the teacher doesn’t do anything for us, that’s why I am cheating” and I agreed. Then he told me to get Socratic and I asked “what’s it called” he told me this app. I installed Socratic and it really helped me. Socratic helped my grade be gained by 67%, but there was a catch tho, the problem was it was prohibited by using Socratic due to it was called cheating, so I decided to using Socratic in secret, I didn’t get caught for the first 2 months and when I did, I only lost that small quiz not he whole entire grade. To conclude this review, I would personally recommend this app due to it really helps you with your work especially when your in school. Just don’t get caught or else u would lose more credits than gain credits.

I’m so impressed with Socratic! I had found another app before this and it wanted me to pay and I didn’t want to I eventually found Socratic and I am so pleased that it gives you the steps the answer and even Khan Academy! My school loves to suggest Khan Academy to help us if we need help and the fact that Socratic gives a video from Khan Academy really impresses me. I am so pleased with Socratic and suggest it for your child or anyone, so if you weren’t paying attention in class (please pay attention though) or your teacher doesn’t explain math the way your brain is able to comprehend it you can come on here take a picture of the problem and it will teach you anything! Socratic is a lifesaver and the best and most worth it app I have downloaded!!

i’ve used this app for 2 years now mainly for math. and i recently updated it to the newer version working with google and i found it much more difficult to use unlike the old one where i had the option type out in the keyboard or in a math keyboard. also, when i search up my equations, it doesn’t give me the solution of the given equation i searched. now, with the new update, when i choose to type down a question it only gives me the qwerty keyboard instead of the math keyboard. plus it doesn’t show me my solution on the problem i’m struggling on. please bring back the old solution and math keyboard feature! it really helped me pass!!! but overall, still a really good app! just bring back those features!
