Snap Markup - Annotation Tool Reviews

I noticed right away that it’s saving every picture that I edit and save twice. Not a big deal, I can just delete the extra copy. I really like the “focus” feature, I just wish it were a little more forgiving. I’m trying to focus in on several areas of text and get them to kind of line up, but once I get to a point it kind of makes the text overlap (for lack of a better word). I’m still playing with it and I think it’s going to be a very helpful app! I’m sure with a few more updates it’ll be amazing! I haven’t seen the pop ups asking for a rating, but I’ve literally just used it for like 15 minutes. It’s definitely got a lot more to offer than the built in mark up app and I haven’t seen any others like it! I’ll definitely update my rating if I see a need to! Keep up the awesome work! I’m very happy with SnapMarkup !

RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER: Thank you for your kind reply. I’m very happy with SnapMarkup and look forward to the continued updates and improvements (though I don’t see anything that needs improvement). I enjoy SnapMarkup a lot and will recommend it to anyone I know with an iPhone! :)

Good: SnapMarkup has some nice features including blur to obscure elements in a photo and lines, circles, rectangles, etc. Bad: the drawing tool makes horrible jagged curves so writing is not an option. Would be better if it flowed like a pen. The text tool works well, but won’t add a second line when you hit return. so if your sentence is long you need to create separate text boxes for each line and then there is no numerical sizing to apply to each text box - therefore you are guessing the size of text.
Not sure: When you make a mark (circle, arrow, etc. ) I cant figure out how to reposition it. You can reposition text and numbers, but how do you move shapes. I end up redoing a lot of them to get the sale positioned correctly.

All in all, I like it and will continue to use it. Hoping for improvements as mentioned above. And stop with the rating nag!

Markup tools seem to be pretty decent, however, when adding a text box, the text doesn’t wrap if you write more than the width of the picture ... even with the smallest font. It just keeps going past the picture and doesn’t make a new line. Probably a nice app for simple labeling, but not annotations more than 6 -8 words. If I’m missing something, please let me know. Otherwise I will request of refund.

I’m still finding Snap Markup helpful and am very appreciative to have it!
Since I’m a visual learner, I like to screen-shot reminders (to get back to), then crop 'um down to save up some space. I think cropping with iPad photo doesn’t really save space, 'cause if I go back to a cropped photo, I can always revert it back to it's original -so, it's only a VIsual crop, huh.
I also love adding informative text and different colored arrows and such -on top of the shot/photo...very helpful for my forgetful mind!
Con: Once in a while, for some reason, when I touch the texted box I just created, it "explodes" into a gigantic font. Then I have to find the corner of it to downsize it back to fit in the photo. It's do-able, 'just annoying.

I had a challenging time figuring out how to add and properly size text to fit. However, the end result was very satisfactory and I look forward to using SnapMarkup much more in the future. It has features that my iOS 11 on my iPhone 8 Plus does not have.

SnapMarkup gets the job done with some patience, but I have a lot of issues with it. For one, the draw tool seems to be calibrated incorrectly — I have to hold my finger below where I want to draw. This is not a huge deal once you get used to it, but still a little awkward to use. It also seems to draw pretty unevenly and leave some marks outside of where I draw. Also, the undo button doesn’t work properly. Sometimes when I hit the undo button it will not undo the last action, but rather the one before it, leaving the other alone.

From the start I wanted to zoom into the photo and add small text markups on an architectural plan. I was an able to do that. I hope they can fix this. If you wanted to insert text you can only do so if the photo is completely zoomed out. I’ll have to find one that does. Also the text does not get very small at all. This wouldn’t be good for quick large architectural drawing markups unless they make charges.

This is one of the better picture markup apps I’ve seen. Some of the issues mentioned in other ratings I agree with. I would also like to suggest that you
-Allow for different thickness in the pen when drawing
-Make the ability to change the shape of the magnifying glass
-Make the ability to shrink the magnifying glass more than the size it is
-have a close up window when drawing, adding an arrow, etc. My finger covers where I am pointing too or drawing so I can’t see the details of when to stop pointing or drawing.

These additions would make it a 5 Star app.

Update: As it turns out, I missed on of the suggestions. You CAN in fact change the thickness already. I just didn’t see that, so disregard #1. 😊

I am trying to use SnapMarkup but it keeps randomly deleting things I write and moving them all over the place. And no, my hands are not touching the screen, just the Apple Pencil. I’ll write a word and some letters disappear and then other letters magically move to another section on the picture. Sounds like a glitch but to me, if I’m paying for SnapMarkup I want it to be better than what already comes on my iPad and this is not. I also don’t see many options to change the writing tool much like how Apple lets you change from a pencil to marker or pen.

I was pretty excited when i purchased SnapMarkup but I was soon disappointed when I tried zooming on my first picture only to find that any drawings were not “attached” to the zoomed picture. Instead, the picture returned to small size and markings were now in center of picture where I had drawn them.
Terrible, to say the least.
Unless I’m missing something in the tool bar, SnapMarkup doesn’t have image zoom capability to make detailed mark ups.
Disappointed beyond words.

I just returned from a two month trip with thousands of photos. I was not looking forward to hours of editing on Photoshop. Then I found SnapMarkup, and it does all of the basics right in Google photos! Quick and easy.

It looks great to me, when I take a photo, I can do everything to it, but I am unable to select a photo from my photo collection to edit...help

Really handy for marking up pictures on the job site and sending them out to co workers. Some easy simple capabilities that I'm surprised you can't do in the normal pictures edit mode. I use this all the time.

This program is the first one that i have tried that is simple, works with new or old pictures. Need to try it more to learn more of the capabilities of it.

Always wanted a program like this. Price was right.

SnapMarkup is a simple and handy tool.

If you wish to change font size there is no font size selector rather you have to grab the text box and stretch the font’s size. Grabbing the text box can be temperamental.

You can’t change the style of the arrows but you can changed it’s color.

2 years ago someone left a review on not being able to move an annotation after its been drawn. The current 2.3 version still does not have a way to move an annotation after its been drawn. Seems like their development department is dragging their feet on this seemingly simple fix.

It would be very convenient if there was a erase or edit button for at the end of project fixing. Such as arrows or numbers, to be able to adjust them after applying changes.

SnapMarkup works well and the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it lacks a tool for changing the degree of opaqueness of the graphics you draw over the photograph.

Has a lot of good features, but they all fall short when you try to put them to practical use. Impossible to control font size meaningfully. Cropping only as the program allows you limited size and proportion you can crop to. The list goes on. Save your money and try another app.

This application is amazing!! I got it for watermarks but omg am I impressed by it!!
From underline to arrows it is easy to use and the quality and color choices are spectacular!!
