Room for improvement

I have the original leaf Nature from 2015. I only wore it a couple months back then and quickly tired of it I guess. Been wearing it every day of 2019. I find my device to be glitchy at times. For example, it does not pick up my steps if wearing as a necklace. (Never tried as a broach)

However to be fair, this review should focus on BellabeatWellnessCoach I guess. There have been two separate times (that I'm aware of) that my device just didn't register any steps at all. (once and entire day and once a few hours) ** There really should be a place to make notes within each day. That way I could note if there was a discrepancy or if there's something going on. Pain tracking or diet or emotional health notes would be great within BellabeatWellnessCoach. Also, would love for it to communicate with the Beachbody app like Apple watch and Fitbit does. BellabeatWellnessCoach is ok but I really think it could be better!

Please change sleep times! 😴 and update...

* Updated: I dropped it another star because now I’ve realized that it doesn’t appropriately sync to the Apple Health app. It literally only transfers over about 1/3 of my steps to Apple. Since I tried joining a self reporting health program at work, I can’t even use the data because Bellabeat’s app isn’t a verified tracker and since it doesn’t sync to Apply correctly, I’m not going to report bad data that clearly doesn’t show how much I have actually been moving around. Overall pretty bummed to find this out on top of the terrible sleep information it records.

Here’s my original review: I really love my Urban Leaf and have been using BellabeatWellnessCoach for over a year now but I go to sleep earlier than 9:00pm most nights... so my sleep isn’t recorded correctly. I’ve been waiting to see if sleep times would change in any updates. People have all sorts of different schedules, so I’m kind of surprised this has been overlooked and not addressed yet. I’m clearly not the only one with this problem! 5 star worthy if This could get fixed!

It’s nice

I’ve had my Leaf for a month now, so I feel I’ve given it a good trial. It’s pretty, I wear it as a necklace, and it tracks my steps and sleep. Oftentimes I go without my phone so I like that it’s still counting. I would appreciate a bigger focus on sleep. More pages of sleep data, more viewing options for comparisons. Also, more exploration around poor sleep data: BellabeatWellnessCoach counts my restless nights as sleep and so “reduces” my stress susceptibility graph thing.

One more practical thing: the leaf comes off of the chain fairly easily. I’ve noticed at least five times in the short time I’ve had it. I regularly sleep on my stomach, and in the night I have gotten up and it falls to the floor! So, something for the design team: as a necklace, make it less likely to fall off!

Has gone downhill

I used to love my Bellabeat and the Bellabeat app.
Since the ‘Wellness score’ was added, BellabeatWellnessCoach hasn’t been as user friendly or as encouraging. I don’t track my water intake (I drink plenty of water but don’t have time to enter each ounce) and I don’t enter my meditation minutes (I use a great meditation app - Insight Timer). I don’t feel like logging my minutes in a separate app.
So the highest score I can get is an 80, if I hit my sleep and exercise goals. I feel BellabeatWellnessCoach is more discouraging since they implemented this score.
Also, the period is now impossible to track. I tried to enter the first day of my period today but it wants to tell me that my period started 3 days ago, not today. And it won’t let me change it. It also says my next period is in 53 days…. What???
The addition of the score and the change of the period feature make me want to switch to a Fitbit. Don’t waste your energy or your money on Bellabeat.

Should’ve listened to other reviews

The subscription portion of BellabeatWellnessCoach absolutely doesn’t function. I signed up for my free trial via BellabeatWellnessCoach . It unlocked some items when I got the subscription but never asked me to fill out a questionnaire and never generated personalized j fo( ie nutrition) the entire time
I had the free trial. Contacted Bellabeat for support. It took more than two days to receive a response and the response simply asked if I had signed in with the correct email address despite the fact that I noted this in my initial query. Tried signing in via BellabeatWellnessCoach on my phone, added BellabeatWellnessCoach on my iPad and signed in on the website. Still nothing. And no response from customer service since letting them know that it was the correct email address. All I can say is glad I found this out during the trial before I paid...theee are obviously some ongoing and serious issues with BellabeatWellnessCoach. Probably would have been great had it worked.

5 years and going strong!

I've had my leaf for about 5 or 6 years now and I'm still loving it. There have been a few hiccups with BellabeatWellnessCoach here and there, but they always work themselves out. The fact that I don't have to charge it and change the battery every 6 months is a huge plus! The sleep tracking could be better, but for a fitness tracker, I love how simple it is. The new update has some serious wrinkles to iron out...every time I enter data, I have to restart BellabeatWellnessCoach to make my wellness score reflect appropriately. Not a big deal, just annoying and I'm sure it will get updated soon! Can't wait to see the reviews on the new device and potentially upgrade!

Not useful for tracking period cycle

The only thing I use BellabeatWellnessCoach for is to track my period, and it used to be effective for that, but now that feature is garbage. Even their latest update to fix whatever bug there was seems to have made it worse. I tried to enter the dates for my latest period and got a “period cannot start during another cycle” error message, though there was no overlap that I could see. I also don’t see why they would impose strict parameters when many women have irregular periods or bleeding/spotting that they would still like to track for health reasons.

I gave it two stars instead of one bc I haven’t really used the other features of BellabeatWellnessCoach , which might redeem it.

Oh, also, the last time I tried to use my leaf, it was pretty terrible at accurately measuring exercise and steps and transmitting them to my app.

Customer Service isn’t helpful

I got my leaf for Christmas and the end of Jan. It started not tracking. Started a week after I contacted them. This month on the 15th it says I synced and it’s not syncing at all. I took the battery out and it still said I was syncing. IT’S BROKEN ALREADY!! I did the online chat and no help just keep telling me to take the battery out and wait until evening. I have about six emails I sent in and NOTHING!!! Same thing OVER AND OVER!! For the money you send on these things it should work longer than two months well a month when it first stopped working. They made me uninstall BellabeatWellnessCoach and reinstall and still nothing. I wear this thing all day only off to shower and it’s not tracking anything. Says we have a warranty and how is that?, when they just keep telling you how to fix it. Then tell you to wait yet another day, just wasting time. I will not support a company that takes people’s money and just string them along.

Beautiful device but be prepared to remove the battery to troubleshoot regularly

I bought the Leaf Urban in June after eyeing it for months. I wanted a fitness tracker but didn’t like the ugly watches of some other brands. The Leaf seemed like it fit my needs perfectly. Loved it for two months, but then it stopped tracking, wouldn’t sync with my phone. I was told to remove the battery, delete BellabeatWellnessCoach , wait a minute, replace the battery, replace BellabeatWellnessCoach . That worked for a little while. Eventually the Leaf stopped working altogether (but long before the battery should gave died) and I put it aside, thinking my old phone was the problem. Brand new phone now, brand new Leaf battery, but the syncing issues persist. I find myself contacting tech support and going through that battery removal process about once a week.

Decent hardware, disappointing app

I’ve had a Leaf for about three weeks now and seem to be tracking steps accurately, but am continually disappointed with BellabeatWellnessCoach ’s functionality.

A) It doesn’t play well with iHealth so if you meditate or have active calories not tracked by BB, that info doesn’t transfer (i.e. no info *from* iHealth).

B) It only transfers steps *to* iHealth so no impact on walking/running distance, flights climbed, etc.

C) Amazingly, it doesn’t track activity from within its own app — like when you do a yoga class from the Workouts section (i.e. even though you’re wearing the device, every activity aside from steps needs to be manually logged).

D) Sleep is consistently off — like, every night. It thinks sleep started hours after it did, that there were issues when there weren’t or vice versa, and wake has always been too early. After three weeks, I would hope this would calibrate.

I didn’t expect it to be as smart as Fitbit, which guesses when you’re being active and asks if you’d like to add an activity, but not even registering activity logged within its own app, not transferring distance — c’mon. We can do better.

It’s nice having a non-obvious fitness tracker. It’s just a bummer the tech doesn’t support it better.

Please make Hydration goal adjustable!

The jewelry is gorgeous and I’m quite obsessed with BellabeatWellnessCoach , especially with the water intake. There IS one change I’d want. Activity, Sleep, and Mediation goals are adjustable, but Hydration goal is not. Please change that. It is fixed to 80 ounces a day. According to my weight, it should be 60, but I can’t change that. Otherwise, this had been so helpful with me taking better care of myself, especially with the stress monitor! Love that! I definitely would recommend to anybody who may be interested in it.

Inconsistent

I love the Leaf style but BellabeatWellnessCoach is dysfunctional. It’s randomly stops recording steps, shows a message that there is no data for the day when there is data showing and, shows contradictory messages about my sleep (ie when it does upload sleep and asks me to confirm the times, it tells me I was quite restless, which is often true, but when I look at the daily notes the sleep section is all “great sleep, look how well rested you are”. Tips for sleeping better would actually be helpful instead of the chirpy (and wrong) positive message. Also, if you want to listen to a Bellabeat meditation, day at sleep time, but switch your phone face to your alarm app, you can’t. If you activate a different app on your home screen the meditation will stop. None of my other meditation apps have this issue so it is definitely fixable.

Most Beautiful Wellness Tracker

I’ve been a Bellabeat user for 4 years and have multiple Leafs and the Time hybrid watch as well. They’re all beautiful in their own way and I love that they look more like beautiful jewelry instead of what they really are.

I love that the company has a focus on women’s wellness as a whole as opposed to just fitness or weightloss. BellabeatWellnessCoach allows me to track all of the elements of my health that are important to me and everything is housed in one place. Activity, water intake, sleep, meditations, monthly cycles and more. Now that they’ve integrated workouts into BellabeatWellnessCoach as part of their Bellabeat Plus Club, it really is a one stop shop. The workouts vary in intensity and can easily be customized depending on your fitness level or how much time you have to spend on your workout for the day.

The meditations are so wonderful and I find that I feel much less stressed and sleep better when I do them daily.

Their customer service is also wonderful and are always helpful if I have a problem or question.

Pretty but.......

I got the leaf because I wanted a tracker with a replaceable battery. I have had it less than a year. BellabeatWellnessCoach is very basic. I only use it for tracking walking. So much of BellabeatWellnessCoach options are premium. The sleep tracking never tracked correctly. It said I got less sleep than I did and it didn’t track more after middle of the night bathroom visits. But now it’s really frustrating. I recently had to change the battery for the first time. Since I changed it the leaf has problems tracking anything and doesn’t want to sync. I have taken the time to reseat the battery a couple of times. It will work again briefly, maybe a few hours, maybe a few days but then nothing. I think I’ll get a new Fitbit.

Love my Ivy but would prefer some updates in the app

When I got my Ivy I was so excited to use it! BellabeatWellnessCoach lets you track different things and you can set your personal goals. There are a few things I would love to be updated. First of all, I would prefer that we could have a reminder to log our food, water and exercise. I sometimes forget about doing this and then BellabeatWellnessCoach thinks that I haven’t eaten anything that day. Other than those things I definitely love BellabeatWellnessCoach and my Ivy. I am now aware of my activity and live being active.

Misleading/Don't sign up for trial

If I could I would report Bellabeat. This company is misleading. I get it. You want to find ways for people to come across your apps and use your apps so they can be influenced to buy your product. THAT DOES NOT MEAN you give people a long detailed quiz saying that you'll give them an ultimate weight loss nutrition plan then make them download/sign up to your app, for your app to make you take a basic quiz all over again and give a cookie cutter plan. Don't coerce me to sign up for a subscription that truly falls short on promises.

Honestly, there are way too many apps that are honest, full of information and doesn't try to sell you on their product.

I can see why people left reviews saying Bellabeat is a scam because Bellabeat sure isn't listed under honest either.

This review isn't coming from a disgruntled customer who is fast to write bad reviews. This is coming from an honest working professional who praises things when they are good, but Bellabeat disappointed me. I would not recommend signing up for any trials. Keep your money and stay out of their drama. As a marketing professional I would never use their tactics.

Subscription charged without notice

I have had my leaf since 2017 and i loved it! I stopped using it and then last year or beginning of this year I started using it again and download BellabeatWellnessCoach . This month I was going through my credit card charges and found a $128 charge from BellaBeat... I sent an email to Customer service with no response yet. Mind you it is very hard to figure out how to cancel a subscription because if you did it through BellabeatWellnessCoach it takes you to a different website than if you did it though BellabeatWellnessCoach Store, and since I didn’t buy any subscription I can’t figure out how to do it

I am still waiting to hear from BellaBeat, I loved their app and their leaf, and it was free all the time and I wanna know where is this charge coming from.

Incomplete fitness tracker

Has: a reasonably accurate pedometer (provided you’re wearing the device correctly), a menstrual tracker, a wonky stress tracker, decent sleep tracker (see above), an approximate calories-burned function, a hydration tracker, and alarms to bother you to do things. Also meditation functions but I haven’t tried those yet.

Does not have: a way to measure certain exercises (no way to log push ups? Really?), a helpful way to measure anaerobic exercises (who cares how much time you lifted weights for, that is not useful), a nutrition log (it nags you about water but not food????), or a way to sync with apps that DO track those things (except the Apple Health app).

BellabeatWellnessCoach is missing a lot of functionality and one really oughtn’t need to supplement it with something like MyFitnessPal or whatever.

Tracker is great, app is meh

I used a Ringly tracker for years, but with my newest phone upgrade, BellabeatWellnessCoach is no longer available, so I bought a Bellabeat leaf urban. It tracks steps every bit as well as my Ringly did, and it’s very pretty and versatile. Where this product falls down is on BellabeatWellnessCoach side. I really hope the developers will better integrate with the Apple Health App. Right now, the steps don’t transfer over to Apple Health, and it doesn’t read data from Apple health either (such as meditation done in other apps like headspace). If I hadn’t been spoiled by Ringly’s amazing app integration, I probably wouldn’t mind so much, but it’s not quite what I’d hoped. Here’s hoping the updates will give more functionality.

Bummer

I have used BellabeatWellnessCoach religiously to track my period since my very first leaf ivy that I had preordered and really depended on it as it was very accurate. As a mail carrier who walks 9 hours a day it is mega important to be prepared. Since the change in design, I cannot trust BellabeatWellnessCoach to even be keeping track at all. Currently it says it has no info for this month and doesn’t show last month in a manner I even understand. I am very disappointed in the recent changes and am feeling stressed about having to find and adjust to another app. I don’t understand messing with something that is working- we need accuracy and simplicity over whatever you are going for here.

Pretty Tracker, Pretty App, Meh Data

I really wanted a nice looking fitness tracker so I could wear it all the time. My Fitbit started looking pretty sad after a year or so and it definitely looks like an athletic tracker. I always wore my Bella Beat as a bracelet, because I knew swapping it out as a clip or necklace would be more annoying. But the bracelet is kind of bulky.

I was mostly worried about whether it would work as well as my fit bit and I think the answer is no. Sleep tracking wasn’t great, steps seemed low compared to my phone that doesn’t move more than I do. I was hoping for an app that allowed better integration with other services but that seemed limited. I’d personally much rather import the data over to the health app where I can track everything. And I’ve always been frustrated with the lack of options for integrating the vibrating alarm with more than just an alarm that’s not super east to adjust.

I’m really intrigued by the new watch, because I’ve always wanted a normal watch that also functions like a fitness tracker, but at the end of the day I just keep thinking I’d be better off prioritizing function over form.

Love it

Update: Everything is working as it should. Very happy with my watch! Support responded quickly. --- The new watch is not an option to sync to BellabeatWellnessCoach . I'll needto return the watch if this isn't fixed soon. Update: BellabeatWellnessCoach now has an option to sync with the watch, however my watch is not tracking steps or detecting sleep. The alarms have synced just fine, but nothing else works. My new problem after reinstalling BellabeatWellnessCoach is my watch will not pair with BellabeatWellnessCoach . BellabeatWellnessCoach can't find it.
