Good in theory

If PhilipsSonicareForKids worked, it would be great. My 4yo daughter loves it but is disappointed on a regular basis bc the only prizes she gets is food. She rarely ever gets the spray paint, which like another reviewer said, is the most valuable prize. Also like the other reviewer said, the parenting dashboard does not allow the parents to give credit for kids brushing without using PhilipsSonicareForKids . My daughter is gone every other weekend, and I know she is brushing her teeth, but I cannot give her credit where credit is due. Also she doesn’t always want to use PhilipsSonicareForKids because the prices are boring so she brushes her teeth without using PhilipsSonicareForKids , and I still can’t give her credit. PhilipsSonicareForKids seriously needs fixing. It would be great in theory if it actually worked. I can also see that reviewer‘s have been complaining about the same thing for a long time now, and nothing has been fixed. So it doesn’t seem to me like the company cares much about the reviewer‘s comments.

Great app!

PhilipsSonicareForKids has really helped motivate my now 5 year old to brush. I love the digital incentives each time she brushes successfully. It’s always a fun surprise to see what she gets for Sparkly. For parents concerned about screen time, I don’t have any trouble getting my phone back from her when she’s done. She will play for a minute or two as that’s it. There’s only so many things you can do with Sparkly.

My critique of PhilipsSonicareForKids is that I can’t find any instructions on how to play with Sparkly. There are different screen interactions that get it to do certain things. We have discovered most by trial and error, but it doesn’t seem consistent. When a kid unlocks a new feature, could it there be a screen tip to tell you how to do the flip, for instance?

Also I have not been able to give credit for brushing. At first I didn’t have a Phillips account, so I set that up. Now I have one but the “ask for credit” buttons are grayed out on my daughter’s calendar view. Yesterday she brushed at 12:05 pm and I can’t give her credit for the AM brush. Today, the “ask for credit” buttons seem active for today only. From the FAQs, it seems like you should be able to go back at least a day.

Start Early

Earlier this year,I got the sonic toothbrush for my husband, oldest son and myself and after using it and getting great results I purchased the SonicareKids for my youngest son that’s 5. He loves talking care of his “friend” everyday. Sometimes he will brush his teeth twice in one sitting just to see his character do something different. As with the other sonic toothbrushes, you have to clean them to get the excess toothpaste that runs down the handle and under the attachable head. That’s normal maintenance that was mentioned in the instructions under caring for your sonic toothbrush. One review reported that this toothbrush is a breeding ground for bacteria and it has the potential if you are not the cleaning behind the decorative face. I guess they did not read the instructions; however, to alleviate this issue,I didn’t install the clip, I just put the sticker on. Start your child out young to prevent dental problems in the future.

Poor sync and streak options

Overall PhilipsSonicareForKids is great! It has encouraged my kids to make sure they’re brushing their teeth on a regular basis. It is so disappointing that they lose their streaks so easily. Last night is a perfect example - we were at a friends house late, kids brushed teeth with a standard toothbrush and used PhilipsSonicareForKids , clicking on the appropriate option. They were DEVASTATED that their streak were broken and they had to start at day 1 again this morning. The same thing happens if I am not home and they brush teeth. PhilipsSonicareForKids doesn’t sync w the toothbrush and give credit afterwards. Giving credit from the parent dashboard doesn’t help either. If I witness my kids brushing I should be able to grant them “streak credit”.

It would also be very helpful if you could sign in and brush using multiple devices. Again, I’m not always home at night, and it would be nice if they could use an iPad or my husbands phone. So good app overall with lots of info, but it’s sad to see the heartbreak from kiddos :(

10 stars if I could

First: PhilipsSonicareForKids says that it’s mainly for ages 6-8, but I’m nine, and I use it (I don’t care...I’ll still use it). I only used PhilipsSonicareForKids for a day, but I already think that it’s great. My mom bought the Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush for me, and my dad let me download PhilipsSonicareForKids . Let me just say that yesterday I had so much fun brushing my teeth with PhilipsSonicareForKids that instead, I brushed my teeth three times! I could definitely feel a difference after I brushed my teeth. I highly recommended PhilipsSonicareForKids to anyone with the Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush.

Thank You and Happy New Year!

Hi there! Please read, developers!!!

Ok so first of all this game is AWESOME! I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! but there’s a LOT of annoying bugs and glitches 😔. Please look over PhilipsSonicareForKids a few times and fix the unusual things! Also, here’s the exiting part!!! It may take awhile to make but it would make me so happy and other players so happy, so please consider this! Ok now straight to the point: I want a SHOP. YES, a SHOP. To be more specific, I want a button where you can choose your own things to buy for sparkly! You can get coins as your present sometimes and use the coins to buy food, spray paint, and best or all, clothing! Please make new spray paint and food and clothing for the shop, too! Maybe outfit sets 🤔. For example, a unicorn set: a unicorn horn headband (I’m sure you heard about them), and some sunglasses! I REALLLLLLLLLLLLY hope you do this update! I am one of your biggest fans!

Love and support, so fly, (aka, me, your biggest fan)

Great idea, execution not so much

At first, my daughter loved this, but the execution of PhilipsSonicareForKids is really flawed. There needs to be a lot more that is flexible. First of all, there is so much feedback here about the prizes. So much food. At first, it’s fun. My my child could not care less after the 400th time she’s gotten a food item when she’s only gotten spray paint like 5 times. Why not ADD MORE SPRAY PAINT?!?! She’s got 700 pairs of star glasses and kitty ears. This makes no sense. She can’t change her Sparkly, which she named “Purple” back to purple because we can’t get anymore purple spray paint. The process to give her credit for brushing when my phone isn’t at home with her and she can’t use PhilipsSonicareForKids is lengthy and a pain and should be easy. It’d be great if parents could pick a special reward to give the child or a prize they know they’d want, like the spray paint to help keep them motivated on days that brushing is a challenge. PhilipsSonicareForKids could be great if the developers would take some of this feedback and put it to work.

Great please add more gold presents

This is a great interactive game. There is nothing wrong with PhilipsSonicareForKids at all. The thing is, my daughter has played for a long time and now there’s no more things to unlock. I love this game but it would be better if you added more gold presents to the game. So ya’ll updated it. Well nothing changed. My daughter was so excited about the update. When I updated it, she couldn’t wait for more gold presents! Thing is, SHE DID’NT GET ANY NEW GOLD PRESENTS. She was really sad. I was disappointed that you didn’t update that. I was personally excited when it said “you read my review and updated it for me.” But, you didn’t add any gold presents. Please add more because my daughter says it’s boring without the new gold presents. Fix this please. My daughter has stopped using this and I can’t get her to use it again. Add new gold presents so she’ll play again. Also she would like more toothpaste flavors. (maybe ya’ll could make so you can make your own custom flavors)

Good but could use some improvements

My daughter (4y) likes Sparkly more than I expected her to. She’s gotten used to brushing for the whole time and follows along with the brush on the screen to get all of her teeth. She also loves getting the presents after brushing.
For things that could be improved, the biggest one is making profiles available on multiple devices. I originally set it up on my device, but am not always the one to get her ready to brush. Would be nice if my wife could use her device or eventually my daughter could use her own.
I do wish there were not as many presents, kids should have to work even a little to get them. We’ve got like sixty foods and ten spray paints stocked up because it’s just too much. Maybe every five times you brush your teeth instead of every time. A little delayed gratification is good.

Really fun app - has glitches since last update

The last update (January 2021) gave my five year old all new things to get excited for. He was getting bored with it. Now he gets extra prizes for streaks. Problem is, it’s only on my phone, so if I’m working, he doesn’t get credit. He can request credit, and I used to access a Parent Dashboard to approve, now every time it asks for my age and year of birth, asks me to sign up for some emails - whether I choose Maybe Later or OK Yes I get an Error 3200. Cannot connect to server. Says contact support. Only option is calling Phillips. Called - they said delete it and reinstall it. I said no, from experience, it will delete ALL my kids stuff and he’ll flip! Said he’d open a tech support ticket and I’d get a call or email within a day or two. Crickets. Can you please fix this?

Suggestions and definitely recommend

I love PhilipsSonicareForKids! My teeth had never been so white and it helped me brush my teeth throughly. My teeth became better than before. I definitely think there should be more rewards. My sparkle hasn’t changed at all and I only have 1 background. Can there be a update with 10 to 15 background? From beaches to parks to pools. And definitely MORE gear and clothes! I think the sparkle should have pants or dresses or shirts. Another thing is the growth. Can we have the sparkly say sentence like: Brush with me or Be my friend or something. And I think the sparkly should skip or jump rope or run. I think you should have the sparkly do a bunch of activities! Maybe start a sports theme or performance. Wouldn’t it be nice to see the sparkly do a pirouette? I hope you consider my suggestions and I will tell you if I have more!

Needs Multi-Device Support! & 2.0.1 STILL Doesn’t Rotate

I want to install PhilipsSonicareForKids on different iPad, but if I do, not only do I loose ALL of the profile & history, I also loose the number of brushing minutes until it’s time to replace the brush head!

Unlike many other apps requiring (parental) login, PhilipsSonicareForKids does not allow for profiles to be shared or moved between devices, so if you install PhilipsSonicareForKids on a new device, you have to start at the beginning again with no profile history & no brush head time history.

And, update to 2.0.1 STILL does not rotate.

We always use PhilipsSonicareForKids with the bottom of the iPad to the left and top to the right. The initial page, parent dashboard, etc. rotate properly; however, the Play/Sparkly screen does not rotate, and is now always upside-down with the iPad turned this way. (Note: problem is on both an older iPad with iOS 12.4.6 & new iPad with iOS 13.5.1)

Also, after long term use on one device, it would be better to be able to keep giving rewards.I can understand having to limit the number of “dress” but I think more rewards (maybe even just a “Good Job!”) every couple of weeks would be more encouraging. Just getting food or color spray each time gets boring after awhile.

On the positive side, my son is very happy about the color reset button added in ver. 2.0

Fun but flawed

It sounds like I’m having similar issues to other users around the parents not being able to actually modify the credits for their kids. I can’t tell you the disappointment that I need to diffuse from my five year old either brushing his teeth too late in the morning to miss the morning cut off or from sometimes wanting to use a manual brush and then not being able to give credit. He’s had some really great streaks and they’ve been lost because of some silly mistake. I’ve even contacted their customer support about this because I end up being so bummed for my son when his streak gets interrupted. They weren’t really able to help.

Otherwise I’m pretty pleased with the concept. My son loves brushing with his “friend” and I try to get him to follow the tooth brush video as it follows around the sparkly’s mouth. He likes earning presents and enjoys changing the sparkly’s costumes.

It’s an okay app that is mostly good enough for this purpose. My one last gripe is that it doesn’t change orientation. I understand why but it’s still irritating to me.

I do wish the developers would address some of these concerns, maybe add more prizes at this point, more backgrounds, more costumes etc.

Kid’s perspective

PhilipsSonicareForKids teaches how long to brush your teeth in a certain area... for instance a visual picture. After you are done with your brushing, you get a prize, sometimes it is clothing items or food, backgrounds or spray paint. For the first few days, I was really excited, then, as there were less and less rewards, I wasn’t excited to brush... I felt it was a waste of battery to go on my phone and use PhilipsSonicareForKids to brush my teeth. Especially in the morning and I am running late. Also as my food pantry got more and more full, I got annoyed because I have so much food that my sparkly won’t eat and almost every time I get food. I just feel like there should be a trash can... maybe make a blending machine. I was just expecting more when I started PhilipsSonicareForKids .

Great ap! Kids are begging to brush teeth!

They love their sparklies and can’t wait to brush their teeth! And I like how it teaches them technique as well. It has revolutionized tooth brushing in our house!

My only improvement would be to have the ap on multiple devices and maintain their streak in the profile. It would be nice if I could be running an errand while the kids brush their teeth, or if we could both have it on our phones, so that our kids could brush their teeth at the same time (so that a 2-3 minute chore doesn’t turn into 10 minutes waiting for the kids to take their turns and argue about who goes first etc.) please let us have the profiles on multiple devices!!!!

Please allow kids to choose a default color for their character

I love PhilipsSonicareForKids. So does my 3yo son. It has majorly helped him learn how to brush. He loves the Sparkly character, BUT is getting increasingly frustrated that he cannot “wash off” his spray paint. He likes to have sparkly change color every now and again, but really would like to be able to have him go back to his favorite color (purple) at this point. I would suggest a feature where you have kids choose a default color for their character that they can change with the spray paint, but then wash off (take a shower or something) when they want to go back to their default color. Similar to the “undress” button which removes all the clothes objects instantly. This would instantly make PhilipsSonicareForKids better for kids.

Great idea, needs some improvement

Need to be able to sync across devices and back up, not just to provide flexibility but also so you can delete and start over when PhilipsSonicareForKids breaks.

About that, Sparkly has randomly stopped coaching and talking to us, which is really annoying, especially since his last two learned skills were burping and talking. No combination of changing the settings will give him his voice and music back.

Also, there’s supposedly a feature to give kids credit for days they brushed but didn’t record, but it does not work as PhilipsSonicareForKids said it should - in the parent dashboard the little yellow markers described in the description just don’t show up. Super annoying.

Also, less food and more spray paint in the rewards would be great, the food is kind of stupid because you can’t feed the sparkly right after it brushes (rightly so) and if you feed at other times, only 3 at a time, and the costumes are also not super popular. It would be great if the spray paint stuck around like the other things, it’s by FAR the most valued prize.

I would uninstall and try again... but see above.

All of that said, my kids love it and clamor to brush their teeth, so it’s definitely worth getting.

Great concept, glitches and potential

The idea is great and it’s working well with my 3yo. I’d love a feature that also teaches/rewards flossing and mouth wash after brushing. There are some glitches. Like I can’t adjust the volume on my phone while PhilipsSonicareForKids is running. And the items you win for brushing are very difficult to select and drag because they are underneath the bar at the bottom of the screen that allows you to swipe and toggle between apps so when my son tries to feed sparkle he ends up leaving PhilipsSonicareForKids over and over again. It’s very sensitive to exactly how you touch the items to Interact with them. Definitely room for improvement but all in all a winning concept I will recommend to friends.

This is a great app, but it needs some fixes

I love using PhilipsSonicareForKids to brush my teeth, and it’s super fun to take care of my cute little sparkly. It has great tips that you are able to learn, one at a time, instead of doing it all at once, and there is nice music and good motivation to do what I need to do. However, there are a few problems that make me frustrated and needs to be fixed. First of all, the day + night periods. Even if I brush in the afternoon (e.g: 2:30 PM), it considers it to be brushing at night instead of the day. It’s absurd that anything after noon is considered to be the night. So to fix this, can you adjust the night start to 6:PM in the evening or something? Second of all, there is no braces mode in PhilipsSonicareForKids. What makes me frustrated about that is that it won’t give you tips for what to do with brushing with braces, and I get confused on what to do with the tips gaven. (e.g: Brushing at an angle in a way so my braces won’t break.)

So please, can you consider adding my suggestions in an update so it can me and others experiencing this issue?

Signed,
Caleb Coolman

Does Philips realize some people have more than 1 child?

I have two kids who brush at the same time. Only 1 toothbrush is listed (as Accessory) in my bluetooth list. Shouldn’t there be two? When I have tried running the tooth rushes separately, one of them doesn’t even connect to PhilipsSonicareForKids at all. Seems like only one has bluetooth that works. What the heck.

7/22 New addition to my review: all of a sudden, the kids having been regular brushers for over 40 days straight, the sound is broken. I have the most updated version of PhilipsSonicareForKids and iOS. It plays no sounds at all, except when we switch it to mimic mode, and then it plays the standard background music and some sparkly giggles, but when it is supposed to play back what the kid says, everything goes silent. None of my settings have changed. PhilipsSonicareForKids sounds just stopped working one day.

1 star.

Furthermore, you should allow PhilipsSonicareForKids to sync users to other devices. That is just sloppy programming.

Edit: The music started again, so 3 stars. There has been some issues with it not recognizing the toothbrushes’ wifi signals.

Great app but Sparkly needs more long term prizes!!

My kids (7 and 4) love PhilipsSonicareForKids! It keeps them excited to brush every day. I’d love to see an update for Sparkly though. My kids love his tricks (flipping, burping, repeating what you say, etc), and all the different backgrounds. As the parent, I love that you have to earn some of these over multiple consistent brushings. My kids have earned all the long term prizes already and the daily prizes (clothes, food, spray, etc) aren’t as motivating. I’d love to see more long term prizes for the kids to work toward. Sparkly is a brilliant idea that needs just needs a little sprucing up!!

The next day is a new day for you to be the best thing ever.

The same way you could have been able an option for your faithfulness to get your own car or go for your car and car car and you can go car car or go car or something else or something to be done to get your car car and you could get a little car car 🚗 or car 🚗 and car 🚗 to your house or something or your phone is not a case or something but your name was not an issue but it was a good idea and I don't have a problem or something to do so much and I am sure it will work on this article as well and I don't think that this is a case or a fact of this or I have been using a Wikipedia policy for this case and I have been trying to be able to edit them and then go through PhilipsSonicareForKids to work.

Not really good. Unikitty1234

Hi I am almost 9 years old and I got PhilipsSonicareForKids when I was 6! I love this game! But I have 2 problems 1 is that it is very rare to get the to get the spray where it changes the sparkly’s fur! So nothing matches! 2 is that I brush my teeth two times a day but when my iPad is dead and I still brush my teeth but it does not count it in the calendar! Now I have a suggestion I wish there was a spot where you can floss! Because flossing is VERY important! No I am not going to be a dentist, I am going to be a teacher, and a famous singer!! So yah! I wish they could change all that! (But not the job part! # 😂 😆 😝) Thank you for your time!!

Oprócz tego można go ubierać i zmieniać mu tło. (ubrań się zdobywa za jednym razem nieskończoność)
