Sign in Difficulties over AT&T cell network plague app

When I first used Speedify with a slow DSL connection plus AT&T cell data, Speedify worked well, speeding some downloads for a new computer I was setting up at my sister-in-law’s house. But trying to use it at the local library similarly, Speedify often fails to sign in, or connect to the VPN servers, or bond the Wi-Fi and cell data. Speedify also usually fails to connect or bond our 2 iPhones at the house (2-3 bars signal strength) and keeps signing me out so that I get told I am using the free version with its limitations. Except it’s not working even as that, with no bonding, no VPN, no encryption, no speed up of computer or iPad internet access. Rural internet access is very poor in Maine, and this poorly performing software doesn’t really help much.

Good idea that doesn’t work that well

I purchased Speedify and paid for the unlimited plan and regret it now. It does not play nicely with my iPhone 6 or iPad. I was traveling a lot this summer and wanted the VPN feature for all of the various unsecured WI-FI hot spots I would be using, but it worked poorly. Whenever I would try to log into a WI-FI, it would pop up telling me the site was unsecured (duh) and either Speedify or the hotspot would not let me connect. If I turned off Speedify , I could connect and then if I turned Speedify back on, it would function, but that was hardly convenient. I uninstalled it and went on with my travels and avoided logging into accounts unless I was on cellular. I recently reinstalled it and it has become a battery hog and turns itself on without being asked. Not sure what is going on but I will wait for the next update and if it continues, then I will delete it again.

Makes a Huge Difference

I was skeptical at first about how well this would help but decided to give it a try anyway. I use Xfinity WiFi hotspot passes and the connection can be slow at times or in some places, like 4-6 Mbps download, I’ve had as low as 0.5-1 Mbps before which is maddening. I bond this app and the WiFi hotspots with my cell service provider which is Straight Talk and I get 35 GB data per month, never had any issues with it coming close to reaching my limit and I’m on my phone a lot. The difference is to the point I can immediately tell if it's not running.

With this app I get average download speeds of 27 Mbps and I think it's 14-15 Mbps upload and my top is 70-something Mbps download and 50-something Mbps upload. I've been using it for 5 months or so if not longer and still love it.

The other features it has have also been awesome and really helpful.

If you have a pokey or unreliable connection, I really recommend trying it out.

Mobile Version is Terrible!

I hate having to write this review but this mobile VPN is horrible and extremely inconsistent. Speedify itself is very user friendly and looks aesthetically pleasing. I have both PC and Mobile versions and can say without hesitation that if you’re looking for both do not purchase this app. The mobile VPN constantly buffers and you have to turn the VPN off to continue what you were doing. As soon as the VPN is shut off I am able to resume what I’m doing so I have confirmed over a month of trial and error that the VPN just disconnects from the sever and leaves you without internet connection. The PC version is much more reliable although, however, on occasion I have similar issues where my ping will go from standard 45ms to over 2000ms and it usually comes out of it within 5 minutes. Overall definitely would not recommend this service as a mobile VPN.

App doesn’t work

Let me explain. Speedify is supposed to protect you from the dangers of public WiFi. However most public WiFi have something to prevent VPN traffic on any port other than web traffic ports (usually 80). Speedify uses another port and it’s blocked by the WiFi routers.

I have tested Speedify and their services at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread, my work WiFi, Burger King, McDonalds, Airports and several local stores. It does work on private WiFi (like my home, my family members home, my friends home).

I spoke to their support and they said they are working on it. However there was an update with a meaningless release note saying “bug fixes”. What does this mean? What was actually fixed? Take 10 minutes and explain it. You don’t need to tell us fixed bug on line 30 for main.m but it would be nice to know what we should expect in this release!

Great VPN

This is a great VPN that is easy to setup and can sometimes speed your internet up by bonding all your internet connections together. In my case it doesn’t help at my home because my internet is plenty fast enough, but I love the security and the fact that on my phone it seamlessly is able to use my cell connection when my wifi is bad, which sometimes happens. I currently use it 24/7 and I’ve had little to no issues except for occasionally getting my location wrong, which is to be expected. I say give this VPN a go and you won’t regret it.

Great idea, not worth your time

I love the idea of Speedify. You can essentially switch between wi-fi and data, whichever one is more efficient, automatically. Plus it makes open wi-fi networks more secure, even without a password.

But here’s the problem. Really there are two. First of all, the data limit for the free version is tiny. I use up my monthly limit in less than a week. I get that they want to make money, but to me, it isn’t worth it.

Secondly, and more importantly, it will not update. Every time I go to Speedify Store, it shows under “Updates” and shoes the graphic like it’s updating, but it actually isn’t. No progress shows on the progress circle. It just sits there. If I exit Speedify or even restart my iPhone, it still shows the same thing. Please fix this.

Let me decide

I like the service: it's reasonably fast and I like the pricing, but I want to be able to decide when to connect the VPN. I'll evaluate the risks of a given network myself, thank you very much. The thing will connect any time Speedify is started, switched to, or apparently spontaneously at random points during the day. There used to be a setting that disabled automatic connections, I seem to remember, but that seems to have been removed or buried. I've looked down and spotted the VPN icon any number of times despite having turned it off manually any number of times. I've come to the conclusion that the only way to keep it from doing this is to uninstall it, so that's what I've done.

Speedify pays my monthly mortgage.

Be rural.
~2-3mbps DSL
<1 bar LTE from only one provider
=Unusable iphone and mac
=Sad Fred.
+ this app!
=
Usable iphone and mac
=
Employable!
=
Mortgage paid!
*fireworks

Thank you this app, you are more than an app to me.

Check out the MacOS application too folks!!!

How do I get two wan connections to my Mac? DSL eth0 + DSL wlan0 + this app = usable computer.

Two product requests for both iPhone and Mac platforms:

(1) Please put a total real-time bandwidth total below the connection’s individual real time speeds? That would be super useful. Yes you can monitor connections etc with other tools but it would be nice to know performance / latency etc from your interface’s perspective.

(2) Add a choice in interface speed test check time rate. It would be nice. Small time choices please...every 1ms maybe? Yes I’m aware of the trade offs...

Please contact me if desired.

I LOVE this app!!!!!

Auto connect makes it useless

Speedify auto connecting with no apparent ability to stop this behavior means every child or family member with my phone in their hands may open Speedify , trigger the inane and unstoppable automatic connection that consumes all my allowance of VPN data. So then when *I* go to use the VPN on the RARE occasion on which I need it, I get to find it’s all used up! Making having Speedify at all entirely useless!

This behavior makes me extremely unlikely to ever buy more service! As I don’t want all my cellular going through VPN! It uses more data as sponsored data can’t be credited correctly. Which means this just being automatically on can also lead to unexpected overconsumption of cell data. Potentially leaving me with no cell data at all!

Request to Appropriate Accounting or Technology Personnel:

Want Speedify removed from my phone. Have been trying to figure out how since the night I put it on my phone once I saw all it wanted. This tool is dishonest by not telling the cost upfront and all it will encompass of your phone when completely activated, More problems may arrive in your direction because I do have access to government attorneys that tend to a variety of consumer wrongful treatment/sales and misleading advertising of services and goods. So this will be the only notice from me asking you to do the right thing and release my phone and stop any further efforts to charge me. Or I will notify the attorneys I have informed you of and they will be contacting you in one form or another. Loretta Wright

Good concept, but the application needs work.

The overall idea of bundling connections is definitely good, but trying to use it in conjunction with my WiFi only iPad has been a failure as both the methods that the iOS version can use require the hotspot setting. The Windows app works just fine, beautifully in fact, on my laptop but I am cutting the iOS app for the foreseeable future especially since it has developed an inexcusable habit of activating itself without my authorization and only letting me know it has done so when it has used up specific percentages of the data allotment. If this app is modified to a more streamlined and compatible system and rendered more obedient I will be only too happy to give it another shot.

I just got the year subscription after using for a video project

I do quite a bit of editing and uploading to social media and file transfers from my phone. I didn’t want to upgrade to the paid version but realized that 71 bucks for a year is worth saving hours of upload and download time.

Highly recommend for anyone that deals with file transferring and editing.

Way better than it was

I tried it a few years ago and it was so terribly slow. That seems to be fixed now because I have no speed issues

The one star I took off is because there really needs to be a way to either set custom bypasses or a way to report important sites that block VPN to be added as a choice. For example when I'm at Target and want to scan my wallet barcode to pay I have to manually disconnect this app or I get a vpn blocked error and have to log back in after disconnecting.

‘Works! But downloads = throttled.

During prime-time the speed tops out around ~40Mbps, even over multiple faster connections, and if you download a large file or two it throttles down to about 20Mbps total (and disconnects without warning a lot). ‘Off-times speeds top out ~100Mbps total. (...for me using it virtually every day). So, I temporarily turn off this app after it starts heavy throttling to download any remaining large files. P.S. To this app, no Response needed, just stop throttling, even if you have to create higher tiers to cover costs.

Great App✅

I love how Speedify is able to keep my games running smooth, watch videos at 720p all the time and do all this by just connecting my data and wifi together. I’m not sure if this applies to FaceTime, but even then my quality goes beyond just having just my data or wifi on separately. Definitely try it out for your device to see how it takes into effect.

Great VPN

Does what it states on channel bonding between WO services to provide the best possible connection speeds. Easy to navigate, and explains settings so that you’re able to adjust to benefit your personal needs. Sometimes the speeds a a bit slower than just being connected to my wifi, however the benefit of having the connection encrypted outweighs the very minor speed loss.

Works as advertised, but eats up A LOT of battery

I got this app for the sole purpose of network aggregation so I never lose an internet connection while I’m out and about.
The VPN works, but every time I check my battery usage, this app eats up about 20-30% of it. This is a huge issue for me, because I want to have a consistent internet connection when I’m on the go, but I also need battery life.

It's okay but makes it difficult to use

The features it offers is great! However, when you start to change the settings manually and falls out of what this app is pushing, it starts to fall apart.

For example, I don't like using Streaming Mode and general prefer using Redundant Mode. Every so often, it will check to see if I'm okay using the cellular data as a Primary Source. When it does that, it completely stops data from flowing through this app (cellular and wifi) until I go back through the setting to say that's okay.

I don't need this app to consistently check in and see if I'm sure I want my cellular data as a primary source in Redundant Mode. I set it that way for a reason.

Additionally, there are scenarios where I need encryption off, but still find my IP address to be different. Not sure if that can be resolved when bonding connections, but would prefer my device IP when encryption is off.

Not worth it.. waste of time & money

this app is a great idea. You combine your WiFi network and mobile data to create a faster, more reliable, and speedier connection. The only problem is your connection is routed through this app’s servers which in turn causes delay and makes your connection slower. Because of the servers your connections have to be ported through.. you really don’t get much of a difference there is too much delay and too many users to provide any real speed benefit. It’s a great idea but you need a lot of brains to actually get it to work the way it was intended correctly.

Almost works how it should

Fantastic concept. Great UI. And it works half the time, maybe. App force closes whenever the computing power gets heavy. Constantly slows down the connection through its servers — which I get — but it’s supposed to make the connection faster. Encrypted connection almost never work outside the home. Zero speed boosts when uploading to a private FTP server. Lackluster developer responses... copy pasta all over Speedify Store reviews.

Y’all can do better! We will pay you for it if so!

Saves My Cellular Data!

I use this in conjunction with my cellular data plan to save data. In hotels, conference centers, or coffee shops I use this to connect with the security of a VPN and allowing me to “backfill” slow public WiFi data with a much smaller amount of my LTE data. Speedify is easy to use. My only complaint is that some services block public VPN connections including this app.

Speedify Is The Best App Ever!

It took me 5 minutes to get all done with logging in and connecting, and this app made my connection work so much more efficiently. If you want the best connection I definitely recommend you download this app and use it at all times! The best part is I get to FaceTime my family where ever I am and not have to have bad connection!

It works

Downloaded because Inhave having issues with downloading songs from Apple Music. They were loading to slow. And I can see the improvement. Specially if you have WiFi it merges both cell phone and WiFi data to make it even better.
