Automower Connect Reviews

The first thing I noticed about AutomowerConnect is the lack of units. Setting the cutting height to 3. Ok is it 3 in, or 3 cm? It makes a huge difference. It’s the same when setting how close the mower follows the wires. It just has a range of numbers but no units! There are other issues with the scheduling. I have no idea what area it is going to mow next. I have my lawn set up to 4-zones with different area amount to cut. Their is no way to tell it the size of each zone, so the mower runs until the battery is due for a charge. Seems like a waste of battery time. In the end, the lawn looks good though. UPDATE version 3.7.7 now constantly logs me out. Still no units on any settings that contain a measurement.

UPDATE 2: AutomowerConnect no longer logs me out. Many thanks for that. I wish there was an option to give the Areas a name such as Front Yard, Front North Side, Back Yard, etc. Doing so will make it easier to turn off mowing for that particular area. Still no Units on any measurements.

Is this the only place to provide feedback on the application?

This utility does some of what i would like it to do HOWEVER it won’t allow logins if you’re not connected to wifi. That shouldn’t be a requirement to use AutomowerConnect , ie, if you’re on cell service with no wifi you should still be able to login.

While AutomowerConnect allows easier access to settings than directly programming through the keypad it is missing some functionality that would make it more usable:

1. Do an “ok” for errors during mowing operations when it makes sense. Some errors require limited or no contact with the mower so you should be able to do an “ok” and restart through AutomowerConnect without having to use the keypad;

2. Request an immediate spiral cut. This would be used when you see the mower in an area that needs to be mowed immediately. There is currently no way to do this. It could follow the saved spiral cut settings or could be switched back to normal operation with a start command.

3. Follow a guide wire. On models with more than one wire it should be possible to specify which wire is to be followed. This would allow the mower to be “steered” into areas that might need more attention. The follow operation might last for a specified time or distance or until a start command is selected.

These are a few things that would make AutomowerConnect more useful, others might have more ideas also. The facebook automower group might be a good place to take a survey of recommended new features or improvements.

We have only had our mower working about a month. So far AutomowerConnect seems to work easily. We can see all of the settings and menu options that are on the mower. It sends us notifications every time the mower gets hung up or slips off the front curb. It is easy to change settings on AutomowerConnect .
Scheduling is simple. The only thing we don’t have yet is a good map due to setting up late in the year. I am in high hopes that once the map finally shows up I can use it to tell my mower to head to my front yard. It really needs a way to let me tell the mower exactly when to go mow the front so I can leave the gate open.
This would feel more 5 star if we had that blade change reminder and if we had more control over sending the mower exactly where and when we want it there.
So far easy to use and looks nice.

Since they changed the Maps from Apple to Google it’s completely inaccurate. According to the new maps my Automower went right over my card and through my living room and kitchen. Remote start no longer work either “Manual Action” is now required for everything, which makes AutomowerConnect useless. I can’t accurately monitor or control my mower anymore. Over $3K for one summer worth of use, what a waste.

I wish the entire app was a little more apple-like as far as usability and navigation. I wish the scheduling was less archaic and more fluid and allowed for daily setup rather than how they require it. Oddly the promos for AutomowerConnect show a different and better system.

My biggest gripe is that there are a lot of functions that are ONLY available on the machine that seem like they should definitely be reachable on AutomowerConnect . The biggest one I found was during daylight savings time, my mower was not going as scheduled. Found out that the clock does not auto-update, AND additionally is not even visible — let alone adjustable — on AutomowerConnect .

AutomowerConnect works and we get by fine, but it could be better thought out.

New update causes me to be logged out. Each time I open AutomowerConnect on iPhone, I have to log back in. Fix it, It’s been weeks and I have seen others say the same thing in reviews and online forums. App is okay otherwise but I’d like to see better functionality. Mower height settings should be in actual units like inches or cm instead of 1-10 which means nothing. Should also be able to select certain areas to be mowed. What about over the air updates? This is 2021. Also husqvarna dealers need to up their game. Most have no clue about automower. If iRobot comes out with a mower I fear husqvarnas 25 year reign will be over.

The Automower App covers the basics pretty well, but lacks in some areas compared to other smart technology. One complaint I have in comparison to my Wifi Irrigation controller is that the Automower App doesn’t track previous mowing times/duration on a calendar function. One other complaint that I have again in comparison to my Wifi Irrigation Controller is that Automower notifications and error messages don’t get pushed out to the phone. Instead I have to open AutomowerConnect on my phone just to wonder if any messages are waiting for me from the Automower App.

I’ve used AutomowerConnect now for a couple of months and it say the least it’s half baked at best. If you get one error on your automower (which you will) there are no known ways to mankind of how to get out of this error state in the iOS app. You can try turning the mower on and off, disconnect and reconnect, log in and our of your husqvarna connect account but nothing will help. You just gonna have to sit back and wait for something magical to happen in an unknown timespan that will magically let you control your automower again from your app. My automower is litterally mowing my lawn right now but according to AutomowerConnect the mower is in”error collision problem front” mode 🤷‍♂️

It’s not a good sign when you buy the high end model 435x and the first thing it’s needs is a firmware update that fails to install for no obvious reason.
My next complaint is the error message “Unexpected error” when it got stuck in a soft fence. Now what? A bit more information of how to solve the problem or to reset the mover would be helpful.
I like the look of the dashboard with the picture of the robot and the halo status. It’s cute! But why is the status “parked until further notice” while I’m looking at a mowing robot? I know now: because AutomowerConnect has no connection to the mover. This is lazy coding.
Enough ranting. It’s not that I have a chance to use another app with this mover.

The refreshed ui is an improvement. At least now we can see the battery level. But the constant loss of the password, unlike any other app on my phone, is extremely annoying. I had to change it from a complex password to a simple one to make this more useful, at the expense of security. Hey, this is a lawnmower app, not a banking app—there is no good security reason for inconveniencing users every couple of weeks. And you are encouraging weaker passwords.

Please make it possible to start the mower from AutomowerConnect when it now requires a manual start from the dock. I don’t see any good reason for this gross inconvenience.

Even if the developer of AutomowerConnect is contracted by Husqvarna, it’s just sad that you can fix the login/authentication issue; you know, the issue where it logs you out basically every time AutomowerConnect launches. Also, fix the refreshing of state as well. These are all things that should come default with the build of this kind of app. Let be clear: you, the developers, should have implemented this correctly the first time. Bugs happen, I know…I’m a developer myself. But this is something that should have been working from the beginning.

Husqvarna: Hire me and I’ll fix these problems for you. Bet.

I have had my Husqvarna mower for 3 years and would never go back. She has been reliable, dependable, and has done an awesome job providing my family with an amazing lawn.

AutomowerConnect is super easy to use, provides alerts in the event things go wrong, and enables me to view exactly where my mower is, and what part of the lawn she has cut on any given day.

Husqvarna has also done an excellent job supporting this product!

Would love to have the addition of a history page (like my irrigation system has) I can see when it ran last and for how long.
Also be able to see how long it is into its current mowing session I can see when it supposed to stop and end a current cycle but it be nice to know how long it’s been running so far (because sometimes I don’t forget what time it started, especially on a manual or spur of the moment run.)

AutomowerConnect is OK but really needs some additional functionality. In my use cases, I need the mower to be able to go to certain zones at scheduled times. So for example send the mower to my backyard, zone one, at 7 PM. And then send the mower to my front yard, zone two, at midnight. I don’t want to have my mower mowing my front yard in broad daylight where it can be easily stolen. It would also be nice to have a send to zone feature. I hate having to pick my mower up and walk it to my front yard manually. I believe both of these features could be easily added with current mowers.

My little guy was the best purchase ever. I could watch him bounce around my yard endlessly. And the maintenance is so simple, just the quick change of the razor blades every couple of months! I love watching him from my back deck while I drink my coffee in the morning or finding him in my front yard when I look out the front window. Super entertaining and my yard always looks great!

This new version is useless! I never write reviews but this update is so BAD I felt compelled to! The notifications use to explain what was wrong with the mower and did it in a fun way. Now notifications are generic, when they come through! You use to be able to zoom in on the map to find out exactly where your mower was, not anymore. And you could follow it around in somewhat real time. It was easier to navigate to the map and the mowers info. I don't care about the battery percentage, bring back the easy of use of the old app and the fun of the notifications! Such a disappointment especially considering the cost of the mower.

Worked fine for 3 days. Then got mowerstopped message manually press start. Pressed. Start nothing happed. Deleted auto connect app , unpaired , reinstalled app after turning moweron and off and repairing. So far nothing works now pressing start no longer starts the mower. Local dealer has no idea. Mower say new start on Wednesday at 7 . I am keeping my fingers crossed that it starts.

I really like the Automower, but AutomowerConnect leaves a lot to be desired. If there are any issues, AutomowerConnect won’t allow you to send the Automower home. I’ve been out of town for a week and the Automower has been stranded in my yard. Also, AutomowerConnect should be able to let you focus on a specific area even with gps turned on. Lastly, AutomowerConnect should be making recommendations on schedules based on the size of your yard. Husqvarna needs to take some inspiration from iRobot’s app — these are basic, expected features.

App is overall good and does what it needs. One issue I’m having with the updated version is when I try to change the spiral cutting length it crashes and I can’t make the operation change. Didn’t used to do this until the new update and would like to see that corrected for five stars. No ability to contact support from within AutomowerConnect .

I recently installed the Automower 450XH. For the first week, I enjoyed AutomowerConnect as I was fine tuning the movement of the Mower; It’s very helpful to get immediate information about the status of the mower whenever it gets stuck. Surprisingly however the latest update 4 days ago seems to have eliminated the option to change the cutting height and no longer displays the current mower cutting height. That’s a big problem for me, as I’m trying to determine what height makes sense for me and my yard. Please fix his

Granted I never used the old app, sounds like it was amazing, but the disconnected problem was a mower firmware problem. I found out after I took my mower into the dealer for a minor fix and he updated its firmware. Now it works great! App is super functional and convenient. I also would love to determine which area gets more attention, time wise, if the mowers firmware allows it.

The old app worked well. Told me when the mower was working, what it was doing, and I could control the mower from my phone. The new app shows my mower as constantly “disconnected” but still mowing - it makes no sense. The accuracy of the map is terrible. I used the old app to tell me where the mower was stuck - now I cannot. I also cannot stop or start the mower any longer from AutomowerConnect ! Why would you take this useful feature away? Please bring back the old app or fix this one. We paid so much money for this mower - the easy part should be AutomowerConnect .

Overall it is working well. As others have said scheduling needs work. It would also be great to have timing options for headlights. Evening only runs too late. I want to make people aware of the mower at dusk (crossed sidewalks), but once it is dark they remain on for too long (an hour or two at times). Scheduling options, more notification options as well regarding status would be nice.

Automower Connect covers the basic required functions of the Husqvarna Automower but there is much untapped potential. For example, why does AutomowerConnect not send me alerts when the mower starts, stops or charges? It doesn’t even alert me if the mower has gone to sleep and stops communicating. No sounds, no badges, no banners. I have to use an IFTTT rule to track start /stop and run times. I’m sure there are many other features that could be implemented.

Headlight schedule functionality has been broken for months now. You have to either leave them on all the time or turn them completely off. App and order more unit itself can’t recognize evening and night properly.

Agree with others; ability to set to mow once every X number of day intervals versus actual days of the week is something offered on many other timing apps.

AutomowerConnect does a few things good like you can start your mower and set timers much easier than on the machine. However, there are several simple things missing. Chief among them is any sound to play when there is an issue. You get a banner but no actually audible or vibration alert so unless you look at your phone you don’t know that anything is wrong. You also can’t start the mower when in weather timer.

My screen died on my mower and I couldn’t use the mower because AutomowerConnect can’t do anything if the mower is in an alert state. Had a break in the loop, I fixed it but couldn’t clear the error from AutomowerConnect , you can only do it from the mower.
Also, we need more timer options than just two schedules.
We should be able to choose which zone to work in either manually or via the schedules.
We shouldn’t go to a dealer to update the software.

I had zero problems with the first version of this application for the automower 450x. However, this version 1.) does not update what the mower is doing (it will show it as disconnected when the mower is running), 2.) does not have same functions for controlling the mower (park, start) and changing settings, and 3.) generally is less user friendly. Husqvarna would make this customer happy by returning to the older version, or fixing this so that is has the same function as the first.

For the most part AutomowerConnect does what it needs to. However I wanted to set a timer to mow from 11 PM to 5AM and that’s where the trouble started. Timers default to one hour. Change the start time, and the end time will automatically change. Change the End time and the start time changes. Finally got a midnight to 5 AM timer to work, but nervous about ever trying to change it again.

I just purchased a 315 X and is working beautifully. AutomowerConnect however is not impressive at all. I cannot program the auto mower tomorrow from 8 o’clock at night to 8 o’clock in the morning… Has to be programmed to 11:59 PM and then start at 12 AM on another schedule. Not a huge deal but certainly needs to be fixed. Also getting a disconnect messages as well when it’s still mowing. Also some of the other features seem to be confusing.

Loses its login 4 times a week. Also the UI sometimes doesn’t update until you switch from dashboard to map and back. Very disappointing for the price I paid for this mower. Also doesn’t support Apple auto fill.
Also, AutomowerConnect doesn’t like you manually control the mower to get it back into the mower area. The mower goes out of the working area more or less every day

If they had kept the older version and just added the battery level it would of been a much better app than it is now.
No longer can you zoom in close on your yard nor can you set how often you want the mower to mow what areas, example- 70% of the time in the main area ( front yard ) and 30 % in the secondary area ( backyard) in my former cases. Alerts are seldom if at all anymore. Why are updates always downgrades ?!?!?
