CityBarbeque will take your order just fine, but if you want curbside service and press “I’m here” you will never get the order unless you call them on the phone. The employee who finally brought my order told me that they were not getting notified that the customer was there, so they know CityBarbeque is defective. What makes it so bad is that CityBarbeque says that employees have been notified.
By the time I got home, my food was barely warm, and my fries were soggy.
This has happened to me twice. Once might be a fluke, but twice indicates that it is an ongoing problem. CityBarbeque has not been updated updated in 9 months, so apparently City BBQ does not want my business.
Our meal was not good. Here’s a few reasons; cornbread pudding was soupy and not cooked it was like eating cream of corn and cake batter. My pulled chicken looked like left over dry pulverize meat finely minced. I took CBP back and our Greens had so much vinegar and was so strong it made me cough and made our gums hurt. Idk what happened bc this use to be very good restaurant and now the food is not good at all ( Hamilton Rd ). My guy complained but honestly the previous time the CBPudding was semi cooked but this time uncooked. Surely someone must know how food should look. I don’t know how we ate this stuff but we did but I don’t think we will return anytime soon.
A new City BBQ opened near us, so I ordered from CityBarbeque 3-4 days after they opened. The wait time for pick up was given as 75 to 85 minutes. I got a confirmation email that said I would receive a text giving me further instructions for pick up. I never got any texts from them, even though I double-checked to make sure they had my correct number. When I went to pick up the food, I had to go inside since I never received any text. They hadn’t even started my order, and they told me that two of the meats I ordered were sold out. I finally got my food almost 2 hours after I had originally ordered in CityBarbeque . In the meantime, I watched people coming in off the street and ordering at the counter, then getting their food within five minutes! Why have an app if you are going to de-prioritize all of the orders coming in from it?
I opened CityBarbeque to place an order to pickup on my way home. Apparently CityBarbeque has been redesigned, so I had to login again (always very annoying). I switched to my password app and looked up my login info, then went back to the City BBQ app to login, and it rejected me - even though I’ve used CityBarbeque to place orders literally dozens of times, the new version wouldn’t let me login because my password, the same password I’ve used in CityBarbeque for years now, wasn’t long enough. CityBarbeque refused to accept my login because my existing login was prohibited now. Then I selected the “reset password” link, which took 10-15 minutes to work, at which point I was already past the restaurant and almost home. So, CityBarbeque -redesign caused me to miss the chance to use CityBarbeque to place an order. Suggestion: get app developers who aren’t morons.
Add a PRE-ordering note about what time that location stops taking delivery orders.
Tonight, over an hour before the physical restaurant’s 8:00 closing time, I got all the way through entering a delivery order (some of which is non-intuitive), and at checkout it says “select a delivery time.” And “ASAP” said something like 960 minutes. Huh? I call, and sure enough, while the location closes at 8:00, they stop delivery at 7:45. And stop taking delivery orders an hour before that.
Why not just say upfront that last delivery order is taken at 6:45? Instead of making me sit there at 7:00 having wasted time and looking forward to the BBQ CityBarbeque let me choose?
This version of CityBarbeque is way better than the last. Ordering and selecting sides is much clearer. My main complaint is with the payment portion. Add ApplePay, PayPal, Google Pay or all three. Allow CityBarbeque to scan your card so you don’t have to type it all in each time. I know you can save your card but without any information in CityBarbeque about how that works (City BBQ storing PCI or just a token) I’m not comfortable saving.
I placed an order for a holiday meal a few days before Christmas using curbside pick up. I clicked the text link to let you know I was on my way. The text opened up in CityBarbeque with another link for letting you know I was on my way. A millisecond before I touched that link it changed to I’m Here but unfortunately I hit the link. Your app is flawed with showing the I’m on my way link again. Three or four minutes later, I pulled into curbside parking and after 10 minutes waiting I went in the restaurant; they never got any notification. I went back to my car and waited another 5-10 minutes for my order to be brought out. I’ve never used curbside service at any business and I’m not sure I’ll use it again at City BBQ or order another holiday meal from you. Calling that location was impossible because the supposedly local number goes to a call center who tried to call the restaurant but nobody picked up.
I love that everyone who orders a lot on CityBarbeque loves this update. But I walk in and order every week. There is no longer a way to easily find a menu (if you’re not ordering on CityBarbeque )-I often need to tell housemates their options; you can’t really find the calories for the days I pay attention (does the chicken count include the bread?); and clean reporting on recent orders has disappeared. Also I couldn’t get in CityBarbeque and then couldn’t get back to the right screen to log in without deleting CityBarbeque and starting over. So if it’s now friendlier on the order side update to make it friendly on the info side too. (I wanted to just send you a note. But there wasn’t a clear way to do that either.)
Love City BBQ.. Great Food and Great Service but the City BBQ in Buford GA always cancels my order when I pay with Apple Pay.. that needs to be fixed or at least disabled for that location so we don’t think the order went through and then it cancels it and you don’t know unless you go back in CityBarbeque and look at your order. That needs to be rectified so I took off one star
When I first started to apply my order. CityBarbeque said that I could get a free drink. But after placing my order it said that it didn’t apply to this order. I’m not sure why this is the case but I’m going to check it out once I pick up my order. Plus I didn’t see anything on the check out where I could apply my military discount.
Love City BBQ’s food and awesome service! However, as a person with aging eyes and visual difficulties, I sure wish CityBarbeque could follow my iPhone’s accessibility choices including dark screen or at least allow me to make the page I’m using temporarily larger. That’s why I rather rebate app 4 stars. The food and service are definitely 5 stars!!
My husband and I had dinner at the Snellville location on scenic highway. The food was excellent, we had brisket, and the service was even greater, Nicky, the sweet lady who served us was so kind and friendly. Our experience was great and we’ll be going back for sure. Also, they have the best corn bread I’ve ever had. Great food, great service, everyone was so friendly and had such joy serving people. I loved it.
I had been past this restaurant 1000 times but never to the chance on it & stop to eat, but when I started door dashing, I had to make several stops there to pick up orders. The first time I walked through the door I fell in love instantly!! The atmosphere, the setup, the smell & they service all right at the first step through the door! I finally ordered one day bc I just couldn’t resist the smell of it any longer. LOVED IT!! & The sweet tea is the bomb!!! If you see if & are on the fence like I was, Just Stop & try it, you won’t be disappointed! Great job City BBQ-dasher (Jada)
So the beef brisket sandwich is phenomenal. I add coleslaw and a spicy bbq to it to elevate the different ranges of flavors. The beef brisket alone is enough. The fried okra is more old school style which is great. I get mine extra crispy more of my style (southern boy) smoke chicken thigh and leg, fantastic. The side salad simple and very appealing to the eye. The staff super friendly.
I did have a time where I was shorted items and had to come back. I personally wasn’t very happy about not being compensated for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen and I’m not going to dock a score for this.
That being said overall great quality products there are few items I do believe to be a little over seasoned and could be tweaked. Though for the average individual who isn’t a food snob or critic you can’t go wrong here.
Much rather get a real sandwich from here than some garbage from mc Donald’s or Burger King. Try it out and I’m sure it will be up to par.

What a surprise and pleasure it was on our first time to City Barbecue in Vernon Hills , and Cora waited on us. She was so welcoming , friendly , helpful , and treated my husband and me like we were her family . She was so caring , and she has excellent customer service skills ! Because of her warmth and friendliness, we came back the next day to City Barbecue and encountered Tim , the manager . Tim was also so welcoming , friendly , and so easy to talk with . City Barbecue employees are all willing to help and to provide great service . And we will definitely return due to Cora’s and Tim’s kindness, and their willingness to serve the customers needs . Thank you ! Cynthia Ackman
Live the redesigned app, it’s very intuitive and easy to use. Previous version had issues and couldn’t modify order very well or apply discounts. Forced me to me use a computer to order from website. This version works great. However, I wish I could see the pictures of sides easier while ordering the sampler.
When I first downloaded CityBarbeque to my iPad it did not consistently work correctly. However glitches have been fixed and it’s working very well now! It comes in handy when ordering curbside or pick up. Just make sure to check your order before you leave.
Everything on the menu is excellent. You can’t go wrong. Try something different every time. Some items messier than others, but that just makes them all the better! Serving sizes are large enough to have left overs for tomorrow lunch. Don’t forget to ask for your senior discount!
Our family lovesCity Barbecue. We go to our Powell location at least twice a month. I went last week and got a $145 order but it was put on my account because it was through Door Dash service. I’m not going to do that again. Happy Forth of July 🇺🇸friends
CityBarbeque is so easy to use. Your rewards and discounts aren’t hidden from you, pictures are there to ensure you’re ordering what you want. The ability to add options with clear prices is great.I would order from city bbq anytime online. It’s just very convenient.
