This United Nations app makes it easy to help fight hunger in refugee camps and developing nations. Donations start at US $0.50, and are one-off, with the option (but no pressure) to schedule monthly payments.

Every question I could think of to ask about ShareTheMeal and its associated program is explained clearly in the FAQs, and there are well-integrated options for building or joining fundraising teams, sharing on social media, and scheduling reminders.

I also appreciate being able to choose where (out of several different initiatives) my donation goes to help — the need is real in each situation, but different people may feel most strongly about a particular food crisis.

While I live below the poverty line in the United States, I’m well aware of the privileges I in particular hold, and of the basic necessities living in a developed nation affords me.

Even when I don’t feel I have much, knowing that a $0.50 donation will provide an entire day’s food for someone’s child means I can still help, and that ability is precious to me. Together, we can make sure people have tomorrows. —And brighter tomorrows, at that.

POSITIVES: I love ShareTheMeal as it makes donating food to those in need a breeze. It is easy to use and makes it convenient for people to donate either one time or on an ongoing basis. I absolutely adore the feature of matching donors to actual families. I have been a donor for the past couple of years.

NEGATIVES: Only 62% of your donated dollars go toward actual meals. I did a comprehensive research on several charity rating websites, and that number is abysmal. Top rated hunger charities perform much better in terms of overhead management. Ideally, 85-95% of the money should reach those who actually need it. No wonder they increased the cost of a meal from $0.50 to $0.80. That’s a whopping 60% increase in expenses overnight!

CONCLUSION: As of now, I’m going to pause and reflect on whether my dollars can be better spent with other charities with a similar mission.

I feel like I sound like a grandma with that kind of title, but I just really love that someone made ShareTheMeal. Through the ocean of GoFundMes and whatnot, it’s hard not to feel guilty knowing you’re basically picking and choosing who to help. ShareTheMeal lets us see how much aid is being provided and how much we contribute. I’m only doing a little bit a month, and I still feel guilty about not doing more, but I wanted to help and knew I needed to help in some way, and this definitely seems like the best way to go, at least for now! ShareTheMeal is truly amazing. It’s never been easier to give to people in need and they let you know exactly where your money is going. You can save your card or PayPal so all it takes is one click and you help someone. ShareTheMeal is extremely easy to navigate, full of helpful information, and gives you so many different payment options so if you can’t give a lot, that’s ok too. I personally do weekly donations of $3.50 and that feeds one child every day for a whole week. But, ShareTheMeal lets you do daily .50 donations or $15 monthly per child. If everyone can step in and do small donations, we can stop world hunger in such a small amount of time.

I love how quick and simple it is to provide meals to people, just donate and done! Whenever I’m feeling down about the world I remember that I can help people all over the world who really need it now more than ever. Food is culture, it’s stability, it’s life. You can give that gift so that mother’s don’t have to worry about how they are going to feed their children, and that they can be nourished and healthy. I always wanted to help those and need even if I didn’t have much to give. With ShareTheMeal, I can see where the money is being sent to. Share with others to let them know they could be helping as well. I’m so happy to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. I try to donate blood when local blood drives come around and donate when I eat out to hospitals and children. But this I can help someone right at my finger tips and just in a few clicks I’ve helped people in need. I will continue to donate and encourage others to do the same. 1 World 1 Love 💙

Giving to those in needs in the world has always been my dream. I made myself a promise to make so much money and giving all out to the world who need help. You know this is almost impossible for me, I don't make much money. But ShareTheMeal make it happen. Now I can give as much as I can afford to the children and people who need help. I love ShareTheMeal and organization! I love how it’s set up, I love what it’s doing for people, and I especially like how it tells you exactly what your money is going towards. It’s very easy to donate any amount you want any time you want in seconds, and know you’re making a difference. I am poor myself, but I feel like donating small amounts over time is still helpful and no matter how little I have, these people still have less. Will definitely keep ShareTheMeal and visit regularly!

It’s great to have an app that you can feel like you in some way can make a contribution to helping others that are in need. And the ability to donate to different charities around the world where it can do most good. Even if you can only donate once or every now and then it trully can make a difference In someone life. It’s not governments that will solve issues around the world, but the people if we all band together for a common cause we can change it for the better.

If you’ve ever wanted to help those less fortunate than you, but didn’t know where to give your money so that it would have the most impact, look no further because this is it. Share the Meal makes direct impacts on the communities and families that need it most and allows you to give monthly, daily or whenever the thought arises, and it’s quick and convenient enough that you’ll never put it off again. Let’s all be a better, kinder, more conscientious generation.

LOVE ShareTheMeal! I have always wanted to participate in the 50 cents per meal thing but did not want to make a commitment to another recurring monthly bill. ShareTheMeal allows you to donate anything from 50 cents for one meal, to $3.50 for a week, $15 for a month, etc. You can choose where you want each donation to go and it provides a bit of a summary on what specifically World Food Program is doing in each area. You can donate to Rhohingya children today and Haiti school meals tomorrow. They do accept PayPal (yay!).

I’ve always wanted a way to help people across the world who are much less fortunate than myself. But I’m not very wealthy either, I work 6 days a week in a factory on graveyard shift, my time is extremely limited but it’s really amazing to know you can feed somebody for a week who has nothing to eat. I’m happy somebody was able to bundle ShareTheMeal together and make it so easy to use. So far I’ve only donated about 7$ but just that feeds 2 people for a week.

ShareTheMeal is such a great way to do some good when you are able to give. I’m not able to give monthly since some months are tougher than others. This is a nice and easy way to make sure I donate when I am able to give. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to help help provide food for starving children and families. The only thing I would like to see is additional options for opportunities to give, like the United States and other countries with highly child hunger and poverty.

It feels good that you don’t have to be stoped by someone in the middle of street and asked to fill your bank account for some monthly commitment. It makes you feel forced and unsure. This new way of donation give you space to make your decision. Love that you can give whatever amount whenever you feel like to. You feel that it’s coming from your good will not someone forced you to.

Several months ago I got ShareTheMeal on my iPhone. I love the idea of being able to make a quick donation when I have a thankful moment. I had some problems with ShareTheMeal and deleted it but because of updated positive reviews, I returned ShareTheMeal to my device. I'm glad I did. The developer has done a great job of repairing the problems. This has become one of my favorite apps because it makes giving easy & fun. This is easily a 4-star app!

As I’ve seen the advertising and articles of ShareTheMeal , to take a photo and say the meal fed someone who needs food is more work than the reality. That all it takes is Apple Pay to be set-up and pushing that share the meal button can feed someone for just $0.50 a person for an entire day is how I see ShareTheMeal becoming a very charitable and important solution to end world hunger. I love the idea, and I want to see ShareTheMeal on everyone’s phone

Awesome app. Through ShareTheMeal, you receive the opportunity to feed those in need in our world, from Lebanon to Yemen to more. ShareTheMeal makes it easy to give and it’s very accessible to those (like myself) who can only give a little bit. ShareTheMeal also provides non-monetary ways to help those in need. Altogether a great cause and great app for helping you to help them.

It’s a non negotiable that ShareTheMeal is amazing.
It makes it as easy as it is 2 food for my self 2 basically do it for some else. It makes it INSANELY easy 2 help people and it really makes you feel like a better person knowing you fed someone else. After seeing ShareTheMeal you cannot have a excuse for not helping people in need they’ve made it easier than ever!!!

This is one of the most directly impact ways of giving back —- the user interface, the causes, and the impact are easily understandable and encourage active engagement. ShareTheMeal is really easy to use and make donations. I have never had a problem with my donations and love the compassion ShareTheMeal shows through the organization. I receive updates about what the money was spent on for the families that use it, and the donation teams are a wonderful way to unite a community or give to a cause under a common name together. I can’t say enough good things about ShareTheMeal!! It makes donating super easy and accessible for anyone. It’s also super transparent about where the money your giving is going. As someone who just graduated from college I don’t make a ton of money so, I love how you don’t have to commit to monthly payments and you can give as little as a one time payment of $0.50 to feed a child for a day.

It’s so easy to figure ShareTheMeal out and see everything going on. This is really so brilliant, there’s a low enough donation level that it’s easy and affordable for anyone and everyone. It’s a great way to make a difference and help others out when you don’t have much time. I really recommend for everyone to have it and to donate.

I’m grateful to be able to do this.
It’s difficult not being able to do ANYTHING for children affected by war zones, climate crises, etc. in countries where the families typically have no cars to escape, no significant savings, no access to reliable medical care or drinking water. This programmer and a convenient one-click app helps to do something, when one looks back at one’s safe, warm childhood.

I had a full belly when I was little. Maybe we weren’t a perfect family, but I lived. I think it’s the best thing one can do, to share the meal one hot or one has.

I wish ShareTheMeal shared more about how the money is used to purchase the food. Where are they getting the food from, whose preparing it and how much of the proceeds goes into the companies pockets to pay for advertisement and ShareTheMeal , etc. I like the idea of helping ppl but sometimes I feel uncomfortable donating money when I don’t know how exactly my money is being used. I think the details could encourage more people to want to donate when they know more.
