This is not a user friendly app...in fact it’s not an app (there are zero updates because they just don’t care enough about your experience) It’s basically just a bookmark to the website. The usability is not good and it’s hard to check your messages (you can’t on NavientLoans ) It’s hard to find out any information about your loans in terms of the amount of interest paid with each payment, the amount that actually went toward your loans, whether they respected your loan payment allocation requests...which by the way they NEVER have for me. Basically the only thing that is easy is to link a bank account and pay the minimum payment....but of course they make that easier.
Also, if you pay the minimum, you are only paying interest. I did that for two years. I had the same amount of loans in Sallie Mae (which by the way had higher interest rates) and have already paid them off and still have $10,000 left in Navient making the same payments 🤔

For anyone not aware, taking an excerpt from CNBC’s article “5 changes coming to student loans in 2022”:
Three companies that serviced federal student loans — Navient, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (also known as FedLoan) and Granite State — all recently announced that they'd be ending their relationship with the government.
As a result, around 16 million borrowers will have a different company to deal with by the time payments resume, or not long after, according to Kantrowitz.
Double-check that your servicer has your current contact information, so that you receive all the notices about the upcoming change, experts say.
Impacted borrowers should get multiple notices, said Scott Buchanan, executive director of the Student Loan Servicing Alliance, a trade group for federal student loan servicers. Come February, if you mistakenly send a payment to your old servicer, he said, the money should be forwarded to your new one.
It’s pretty safe to say there will not be an update. To date I have received no notices from Navient about loan options.

NavientLoans is convenient but it needs major work. I have used NavientLoans for the pass 3 years or so, since it first came to NavientLoans Store and it has not changed. The developers need to start taking advantage of the new technologies available. NavientLoans acts more like a website then an actual app. There are many apps that are websites but NavientLoans doesn’t function like one. It almost easier to just go to the website, which would be less of a headache. Some places for improvement: The user login— Touch ID is very useful. Second verification screen—when I ask for the account number or birthday you have to tap each empty space inside it should automatically jump to the next space once the first is filled, this world baca time saver. The loan payment screen—when I try specify an individual amount for each loan the scrolling does not allow me to see the blank to fill in the amount. These are just a few improvements I think would help NavientLoans.

You have to log in every time. It doesn’t cache anything or use biometric face id or other things to log in. It doesn’t feel like an app, just a link to a web page. I honestly cringe every time I log in. Counter that with my credit Union app, my bank app or other card apps and this user experience is the worst. Honestly though, why would they care, they loaned you money, it’s not like you are going to cancel your student loans and move to the competition. That is the core issue here though. They don’t seem to care.

Might as well use the website. This mobile app experience is just like the website - so save the headache and avoid downloading NavientLoans. Usability for the mobile platform is horrible. They’ve pretty much put ZERO effort and thought into the design of NavientLoans. I tried to contact them or send an email through NavientLoans and it keeps asking me to login when I’ve already logged in twice! Waste of time. I seriously think they don’t care at all. I mean. It’s almost feels like they are conspiring to make loan repayment more difficult than it really is.

Log in can be a pain in the rear as I quite frequently have to confirm my device and enter in my SSN and birth date.
Although this is a very important feature to keep your account secure, either make it so when you fill in the fields, I don't have to keep bringing up the keyboard into the new field. This is very annoying and not necessary as it is much easier and pain-free to log into other areas on my device and not have to constantly bring up the keyboard every time.
Or - you could make it even easier yet for the people who have a device with Touch ID, enable that instead. Then there will be no need to verify your identity.

Make it less steps to log in!!! Or update to use thumbprint. I have to enter a user name, and password. THEN my ss# and bday!!! Every time! Even WITH the “Remember me” checkbox on. C’mon! No one’s breaking into my account to pay my student loans.....and if they are...let them
Also, when I have to (every time) enter my birthday and ss#, I cant just type it in! The fields only hold a certain amount of numbers and there is no next button, it just closes the keyboard down. You have to click the keyboard again for the day, then the year of birth. Same with the social security number, broken up into 3 fields.

Everything about NavientLoans suffers from a lack of forethought or some technical glitch. Clicking on the password box to log in inexplicably jumps you down the page to a random place. There’s no way to paste a password into the field. If you navigate away from any page, there’s no way to get back without closing NavientLoans and reopening. The “done” button for any document is hidden behind the battery indicator on the iPhone and is therefore inaccessible. These are just a few examples of what’s wrong with NavientLoans. Test and fix this, Navient, if you want to inspire ANY confidence in your products! Meanwhile, I’ll stick to the web page.

Before I write my review I must first say I am highly upset. I wrote a review and at the end it said my nick name was already used and to choose another nickname, I hit OK and it completely erased my review.
I am using the iPhone 7 Plus.
As I attempted to say, the upload document link is not working properly every time I click it, I receive a blank page. I tried to select OneDrive to upload my PDF file but I received a blank page and then had to sign back into NavientLoans again to clear it. So I decided I'll just take the photo after clicking that option I still received a blank page, this is highly frustrating.
The upload option on NavientLoans is not working and needs to be corrected immediately because it is going to delay the approval process for many people.
I just uploaded the same document on the Great Lakes app and it worked wonderfully.
I'm going to see if the upload option is available online but it would be much more simple to process it using NavientLoans which is supposed to be designed for convenience.
This time I copied my review this in case it deletes it again and tell me my nickname is not available. It did three times...🙁

I am not sure how they could make a worse app, provide worse service, or truly be worse at their job. What’s worse is I cannot believe the federal government allows this garbage to exist. NavientLoans is useless. Navient is useless. Their people are useless and paid to intentionally not help you so why would NavientLoans be any different. If I could give 0 stars I would but NavientLoans Store makes you give a minimum of 1 pity star. NavientLoans has a 1.7 star rating (which is generous) which would motivate anyone else to improve it but instead they have committed to literally never updating this thing or making it worth using. Basically it’s a waste of space on my phone

It's like they had no QA testing. If you open a link in NavientLoans, there's a 90% chance you won't be able to go back, and you'll just be stuck on that page forever. I've had to delete NavientLoans so many times just to reset it, and it never remembers my device anyway so I don't know why I even bother.
When you log in, it will always ask you for your SSN and DOB. Always. And you have to click each field to get the keyboard to pop up, even though I know they have the tech to automate those functions. Once you click Enter, everything freezes and you can no longer log in.
It’s weird, it’s almost like they don’t want you to pay your loans.

This is one of the worst apps I have ever used. It’s pretty unresponsive at times snd crashes a lot. The buttons are not user friendly and the don’t click on certain menu items and you won’t be a belt o get back to viewing the home dashboard. Why is the done button so high up in the right corner that you can’t even click it? I often have to close the whole app then reopen it when that happens. For all the money Navient is making there is no reason why NavientLoans should be this sucky. They need to fix it ASAP.
by Cttnmauth
As other people have said, NavientLoans is not user friendly at all. I can feel the battery draining from my phone while I’m trying to use it. It functions as the website would but with many glitches. It doesn’t act as an app or have a feel of an app at all. Major improvements need to be made. I downloaded it for its convenience but it’s not at all. I can make payments but when you have multiple loans because it acts as a bookmark of a website, the phone gets hung up on scrolling to your other loans. It’s just bad.

It’s nice to have an app so you don’t have to go through the process of typing in the web address all the time...I’m on my phone more than my computer nowadays anyway...
The biggest problem for me is (same if I try on a computer) it never saves my info(username and password)...and I have to verify my account Every time!!!(provide social number or account number) Just update to the fingerprint login already!!! More secure than a password anyway...
by Robinson3228
Suggestions:
1. Add Touch ID for access so we don’t need to continually enter password every time.
2. Make it so it remembers your phone. I understand the need to enter security info the first time or even ever so often because it may not recognize the device you are using but every time seems to be a mistake in design.
NavientLoans does seem better and easier to use minus the access issues.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are going on about. You can do everything on NavientLoans that you can do from the website. Two factor authentication is not a big deal and it only needs the second authentication when it updates or you login from a new device (duh). There are some functionality that is a little clunky and needs work, but NavientLoans does what it’s supposed to.
by Yupyupo
Not sure why all the negative reviews. It has the same layout and feel as the website, easy to make payments on the go.
I have auto payment setup, but I've gotten into the habit of making multiple small extra payments every week or even every day. If I pack lunch that's $10 I just saved myself so I make a $10 payment to my loan. If I pickup a shirt at the mall then decide "you know what, I don't really need this".. I apply the $25 I would have spent on that shirt to my loan. NavientLoans allows me to stay true to this approach and this has helped me pay down 1/3 of my student loans in a year.

Regarding my needs in any app related strictly to bill-paying, this one addresses them all. It saves bank information from previous payments, so re-entry is not necessary. It saves my login name. It lists payment history, same view as when logged on to webpage.
The only suggestion I have for the makers of NavientLoans is a small and simple one: please automatically advance the cursor to the next field when a user is entering their personal info. The inconvenience of having to keep tapping into the next field bothers customers, and it's a very simple fix that would take only five seconds to program. Thank you. Nice app!

I’ve used NavientLoans for a few years and it’s super easy to use. Some people are saying it doesn’t let you see your payment history but it does for me. Tells me exactly what interest I’m paying and balance.(Subsidizes & unsubsidized) It also gives you an option to “remember me” so logging in is fast.

People saying NavientLoans doesn't let you make payments or view payment history obviously don't know how to use it. I downloaded it 10 minutes ago and I've already made a payment and viewed my payment history. To those saying they can't log in, you're entering the wrong username/password/SSN. Try looking them up instead of writing a 1 star review, it might help.

would you like an app that gives you your loan information? It's not this one. Would you like an app that gives you your transaction history? It's not this one. Would you like an app that helps you update your account? This might, but not easily. Would you like an app that takes your money? This one does it slick as a whistle. Would you like an app that gives you the status of your payments? If a statement thatyour loan is in repayment, this is the one for you. Simply, if you want to have the convenience of posting a payment but not caring how or where it went, then this is NavientLoans for you.

I was really happy to be able to access my account with NavientLoans. It is just as easy to use as the site but there has always been this issue with accessing both the site and NavientLoans with excessive ID. Re-entering info and validating devices. How about adding the fingerprint ID functionality? It has to be pretty easy to add this. Please add it developers!
by Ashley Andersen
I appreciate the convenience to login and pay my bills with ease. I prefer this simple transaction to the web.
Though as a developer, some constructive criticism:
- need some user feedback when buttons are pressed to know the system accepted my user input. Nothing changes until time passes and this is frustrating until learned. A loading symbol, even just some reaction of the buttons would be nice.
- don't close the keyboard when tabbing fields. Filling in data is not pleasant, so don't make ot worse by closing my keyboard after typing the first 3 digits of my SSN then the next two etc.
- speaking of typing info, let me use touch id to login, please
My two cents :)
