Need to make a phone call or a FaceTime audio or video call? Automagically the spoken text will be heard on the other caller's phone or iPad when on a call.
The text is highlighted as it is spoken which is useful when on a phone call and for people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Type in the main text area or tap one of the six main custom buttons and your iPhone or iPad will talk for you.
Together with keyboard shortcuts, predictive text and your custom phrases, this app will allow you to communicate with ease.
Can you type fast or need to spell a word? Turn on the Auto Speech Function to have every word or letter spoken as you enter it.
*** To use the enhanced quality voices, on your iOS device, open the Settings app, go to Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices > and tap to download the enhanced version of the desired voice.
This is great for saving partial sentences or for temporary text in preparation for a phone call or meeting.

I often recommend a free or inexpensive communication app for patients of mine who don’t need or can’t afford a more sophisticated device. I stumbled across this one while looking for a text to speech app. Most are the same; you type a message and hit a button to speak it, and you can save a limited number of messages you use frequently. Unfortunately all the messages are saved in the same place, so you have to look through them and select the one you want, which slows the process down. TalkForMe has that capability, but it also gives you 34 customizable buttons for frequently used messages. They’re incredibly easy to program and using TalkForMe to communicate is quick and intuitive. I’ve used many of these apps and this one is the best by far, and it’s free!

I had vocal surgery and had to be on 15 days complete voice rest. My husband works nights, and I have two young boys who cannot read. I needed something that would speak for me. TalkForMe is amazing and simple. I connect to my Bluetooth speaker to get it louder when out. Love the custom common phrases. People constantly asked me the same questions. The custom phrases allowed me to answer quickly without having to type every time. My two boys even love TalkForMe now. So glad this was available.

I’m preparing for a thyroidectomy next week and was told that I might not be able to talk for two weeks, or much less above a whisper. So I was looking for an app to help. Sure I can get a wipe board but who wants to write all day? I found TalkForMe and it was super super easy to install and set up! I LOVE the fact that you can pre-set 48 custom phrases! Really great job! Yes it was all free! No stupid ads or asking me to premium upgrade. Whomever designed this- thank you!

I use this every single day, all day long. I have a vocal chord disorder called Functional Dysphonia. This is how I communicate with everyone. I can even type to speak on the phone by putting my phone near my ipad to hear the words. I don’t know what I would do with this wonderful app! Thanks so much to the developers! I would love to hear more voices that sound more natural— but still thankful for this way to communicate!

I just got my tonsils removed so talking is really hard. I downloaded other apps and they do not compare to this one. It’s really nice to have it ad free without paying any fee and I love that the voice change if you add a question mark or exclamation point, adds a bit of human in the voice.
All around an amazing app to use for those who just need something to be able to communicate and can’t talk.

It seems a good program except it is missing the one feature that would make it what my sister needs - a way to answer and speak on the phone. There is no setting or option to route the voice through the iPhone’s transmitter, only out the speaker. There is very little help available for a non-speaking person that I’ve been able to find researching online. This got my hopes up, but disappointed.

TalkForMe fills a huge gap. There are so many apps for young children with speech issues, and for those who cannot read, but it's hard to find a simple app you can type into and it speak for you. Talk For Me did just that! The design is simple to use and perfect for adults who understand English, can read, and just cannot speak. Thank you!

Sudden total voice loss is more than a puzzle.... it was frightening until finding this super program. The developer made it so even a 70yr young, not tech savvy, person could figure it out in minutes. Even found a voice And speech tempo I like! Thanks so much.

I am a speech language pathologist who specializes in AAC (alternative/augmentative communication). This is an incredibly well thought out app that performs beautifully for my students who are literate and non-verbal and want very much to fit in with their friend. I am extremely impressed with how well TalkForMe performs - and can’t believe it’s free!

App stopped using audio after a week. I have been unable to find any settings or support for TalkForMe. Looks like it could have been a good app but there’s a complete lack of support. I will have to find another app to use since I can not find a solution for this issue. None of the other apps on my brand new iPhone are having this issue please add some info on your app at least for FAQs

I strongly suggest removing semi automatic speech. For two reasons. First I many times inadvertently hit it and it speaks although I have not completed my sentences and second it then deletes the entire message I was trying to type and I cannot retrieve it. But I would be lost without your great app. Thank you

I use it whenever I have to make a phone call. I archive statements that may be needed for each planned call. Between the buttons and archives I can cope reasonably well.
