Works too well...starts fights.

BrushUp works well for getting you kid to want to brush their teeth. The song will burrow into your head and you won't soon forget it. Which side you are suppose to be brushing is a bit confusing, but after some time it all makes sense.

The problem, and the reason I took away a star, is that it works too well. My two children fight over the game while one of them is brushing. It has wreaked havoc in our house and started many fights, both while brushing and choosing prizes. To the developer's credit, there are multiple child profiles, which help, but still does not solve the core problem that the game is only designed for one child at a time. I could only imagine the pain if you had more than two kids.

All in all it works, but is best suited for only children.

Kids love it, but initial set up is awful.

My kids love using BrushUp. love that I can make sure they’re brushing their teeth. Initial set up is absolutely awful. When I first bought it about a year ago, it was really difficult to set up. My husband tried setting it up on his phone this past week and couldn’t get it to work. He is a software development and makes apps for a living and couldn’t get it set up.

My 3 kids now LOVE to brush their teeth!

I have 3 children- 4, 8, 11. I’m not a big advocate for young children using technology on a more than occasional basis and especially not close to bedtime but I will tell you that I LOVE BrushUp. It’s not perfect...but my kids love brushing their teeth now so 500 stars and I like that I can customize a profile for each child. Not the best technique and it always says its bedtime but that’s so minimal when it really gets them brushing HAPPILY for at least 2 minutes and they can’t wait to brush their teeth. They actually fight over it so we have them take turns to brush on their own so they can concentrate and then they all get together for the game and prizes part. BrushUp foster a great habit and it’s especially effective because enjoy it so much!

Good app.

I really like BrushUp. All my kiddos like it, and even my nieces and nephews like it so much their dad downloaded it. It can glitch on the most recent iPads, where after brushing you may have to restart BrushUp . But, you still get the stars and it rarely happens on my older iPad. The kids are okay with this though, because it is quick to reload and they still had fun brushing.

*update,I originally gave BrushUp 4 stars but upped it to five. I realized the glitch almost never happens unless I have stuff running in the background. This seems fair to me since BrushUp records and plays video at the same time. That is a fair amount of ram!

Game changer on kids brushing

BrushUp is so amazing. I was getting worried about my kids mouth health. And this is a game changer.

We play this on three iPads for three kids at the same time and it is amazing. Kids love BrushUp and want to brush their teeth. They even
do a better job when we don’t have time to “do buddy.”

And the prizes are very well thought out where there are many easy ones to get but there are also ones you have to keep brushing to get. We’ve been doing this for two months and it’s not getting old (for them).

Hoenstly I didn’t come close to brushing my teeth this well as a kid.

BrushUp does not seem to be updated and I can’t really connect it to the internet. But it doesn’t matter. The kids get to unlock things and it’s great.

You have helped my kids have a better life. And the health benefits I think will last a lifetime. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

In this internet age I would think there are many training videos for teeth brushing but there isn’t. This is one of a kind and it works amazing.

Great training app

My oldest will be 10 this year and surely I had a hard time getting him to brush his teeth at the age of 1 1/2 all the way until almost 3 years old. Once I found BrushUp he immediately started on his on the next day to brush his teeth. Now, I have a second child and I have introduced BrushUp to him he’s getting to the point where he’ll imitate the brushing but then lose focus. But I believe that’s because there is no sound. Something is wrong with the audio. Regardless of the error I still rate BrushUp 5 star.

Love a lot, needs to be updated to create account

I’ve looked for a lot of apps to help my 4 yo with brushing his teeth. There are so many things I love about this- the “mirror” for visual feedback, catchy song, positive reinforcement for accuracy of brushing and ability to earn prizes are all fantastic. I love that I don’t need a specialized toothbrush or really anything else to help him learn good brushing habits.

I’m only giving it 2 starts because I don’t think BrushUp has been updated in a while. I tried to create an account so my son could continue to make progress and save stars he earned for bigger prizes, but when I try to type, the keyboard doesn’t work and I’m unable to create an account. I would give it 5 stars if they could resolve this issue!

Encourages kids to brush better

My 5 yr olds love this game! This game encourages them to brush more thoroughly and for a full two minutes without complaints. It also serves as a reward for completed chores. They have enjoyed the new backgrounds and love singing and dancing to the music (it is a little annoying to me). I like that there is room for multiple accounts, but it is a little difficult for multiples. It is a little pricey for the full game, but it gives me a few minutes to change in peace. My kids suggested undersea, construction sites, parks, farm, zoo, and sports for any new backgrounds.

Llllllllllove this!

To start, I’m lucky and my kids will brush without me having to yell at them (they just need a few reminders). But BrushUp has made them ASK ME if they can go brush. And one of my kids wanted one of the reward items badly enough that he brushed a second time to earn more points. It’s now something they look forward to; not just part of the routine. Ps. I am a dental hygienist. And I will be telling everyone about BrushUp. And for other parents, just an FYI; my kids are 3 and 5.

Great tool

This has been such a great help teaching my kids to brush all the surfaces of their teeth. They've been using it for almost 2 years now. My 9yr old still uses it to help him get all the sides of his teeth. My 3yr old wants me to type "It was great." BUT despite how much we love BrushUp there is no way I would pay 9.99 for the full app. Way too much!

Wonderful

Me and my sister love BrushUp though sometimes it’s confusing which side your supposed to be brushing it would be easier if they just said “left side” and “right side” instead of “near side” and “across side”. I’m in my teens and it confuses me, so I can only imagine it for little kids. But anyways, my sister loves it and she seems satisfied with BrushUp , so other than that it’s great.

Cute but frustrating

Cute app and my kid loves it. If you can’t hear anything it’s probably because your side button has muted the phone. Unfortunately I can’t save my sons progress because the keyboard where you put in your email address is all messed up. I can’t see what I’m typing and the wrong letters come out. My son is very sad that he can’t see things he previously “purchased.”

Works really well but could be better

. Everyone likes to brush their teeth and it’s something they look forward to. Suggestion: have pauses in the video so that you can spit. Other than that BrushUp is awesome! Everyone has to brush their teeth to earn screen time, and the way you can earn prizes motivates them even more. Highly recommended!

Best Kids Brushing App Ever

My kids hated brushing their teeth. It was always a fight. This makes life so much easier. The song lasts a long time so they are brushing for longer than 2 minutes. They have to follow along and brush correctly to get more points. It’s genius! I can’t say enough great things!

Great idea, functionality has bugs.

If you’re not setting up an account, you can probably have it work fine. The problem comes when personalizing, the keyboard screen will not drop away, making finishing the personalization steps impossible. Seems like a potentially easy fix? But the last update was seven months ago…

Otherwise the kids like it just fine, it really helps them get all their teeth and stay brushing for the full time.

It’s very fun but there is 1 problem

The game is fun itself, but the problem is that when you try to get a subscription for your child (like me), the keyboard keeps popping up and you can’t see what you’re even writing!!!!!!!!!!!!_my daughter age 6 Penelope

Great idea, but app needs improvement

My 4 year old LOVES brushing with BrushUp. He is very motivated to earn stars for purchasing the bathroom decor. However, it is very frustrating to him that he can’t save his “purchases” and change back and forth from the original to the newly “purchased” item. I hope this can be changed in an update.

Please Update!

I learned of BrushUp years ago and it really does change kids’ brushing habits. However, BrushUp hasn’t been updated in 2 years! It doesn’t support my iPhone 8Plus, nor can I get it to work on my 7th gen iPad, or even my old iPhone 5S. Please update! I’d love to use this with my 3 kids!

By

Love it!!!!

So BrushUp is very cute and really gets my 3 year olds attention. He tries to keep up with the guy and brushed all the same teeth! We normally have to go over his teeth after he tries but BrushUp helps him get each tooth so well!

No longer working-waste of $

We have used BrushUp for a while. We wanted to upgrade to get more prizes. There were already problems with BrushUp but thought by buying the upgraded version they would be fixed. However, it’s worse! My kids get through brushing and then the screen turns blue-nothing. You can get out and go back in but then you don’t get points. I wrote to the company and face heard nothing. Don’t waste your money on BrushUp.

Love it.

BrushUp is great. My seven year old, who use to pitch a fit when it was time to brush our teeth, is now excited. She even runs to the bathroom when I say it time. The song is catchy, I hear her singing it while she brushes her teeth, even if she doesn't have BrushUp opened. I would like to know how to get more stars though. Getting 1 out of 5 every time is confusing and discouraging her. She has an old iPhone she uses for games, I will see if I can open it under the same set up so she can do it while she is not with us. If she can then I would give 4 1/2 stars. ( still need to figure out how to get more teeth/stars while brushing. )

Works amazingly

I use BrushUp with a client who has ASD and I have never seen anyone so motivated to brush their teeth! He does really well following along and likes rewatching clips to earn prizes. The song is extremely catchy (although I found it annoying at first).

By

Great teaching tool

My 3.5 year old son has electronic toothbrush with timer so he brushes for 2 minutes but never gets all sides. He did such a great job tonight and really enjoyed following along! Thank you!

Stars aren’t easy

Love the concept and the song keeps our entire family dancing!! However, the stars are extremely tough for kids to earn, therefore BrushUp is having the opposite effect on my kid. Developers please make the stars easier to obtain. 1 for an entire day is discouraging!

By

Great for kids

A bit confusing with which side you're supposed to brush, but it works out in the end

By

Incredible Horror experience

The team behind brush up literally knows how to get inside your head and scrape away your sanity. I was afraid for my life.

By

I'd love to love it

BrushUp is adorable and works so so so well for my 5 year old! The only problem, and it's a big one, is that BrushUp can never seem to connect to the internet so I can't pay for it. Please take my money! 😂

Audio stopped working

Really enjoyed BrushUp until the audio stopped working. I restarted my phone, deleted BrushUp , reinstalled and it still doesn’t work

By

No volume. No response from customer support.

BrushUp would be awesome except there’s no audio so you can’t hear the song or talking. And definitely BrushUp , not my phone. I emailed the company/developer about the problem and no one responded. Don’t buy BrushUp.
