5 years ago I joined straight talk. Everything started great. I had connection everywhere. I had no issues. A year or two later everything went straight down hill. Not even down hill. It took a nose dive. When I went to refill my 30 days. Days on my refill would be missing. After a certain amount of time they are supposed to be able to unlock your sim allowing you to do what ever with the phone or join a new provider with the phone you paid full price upfront for. It was impossible to get ahold of some one to speak for for eight months! No one answers the phone and you’re always 90+ chat queue. Meaning 90 people are ahead of you to TRY to get ahold of some one. They flat out refused to unlock my sin after I had the phone for 5 years. I hadn’t even used a day of my very last refill and was refused a refund. That day I had already decided to switch providers. I do not regret switching. Straight talk is a complete joke. Start great, continue great. Don’t screw your customers. With the understanding that people where out for COVID for a while. This whole trying to get ahold of some one took place after everyone went back to work a places where 100% open. The “high call volume” at this point is an excuse. Either that or straight talk has some serious issues and everyone is trying to get it fixed. Personally I would save your time and money and pick a different provider. Like I said I had used the for 5 YEARS. Please for your sake and sanity avoid!!

Been a Straight Talk customer for a few years now (I’m in the process of ending that). Their service comes from roaming agreements with the big carriers. In our area, they roam on AT&T, but that varies with the areas that they have contracts. To say that the problem with Straight Talk is their customer service would be implying that they actually have customer service. What they have is outrageous wait times (I’ve been on the phone with them for nearly 6 hours today), incompetent people that barely speak English, and those people constantly tell you “I guarantee” that whatever they aren’t really doing will fix the issue that you’ve spent all night trying to get them to address. The line that I’m trying to get them to fix hasn’t worked for over 24 hours and started with a call several days ago to them, where that person gave me the wrong information (which I questioned at the time because I thought it was wrong but “I guarantee you that it’s correct.”). 24+ hours later, 6 hours on the phone with them (the bulk of which was on hold) and the phone STILL doesn’t work. On a final note, when you get fed up with them (you will if you ever have a reason to contact them), count losing your number when you switch carriers. That’s where this is currently heading for us. At this point, I regret ever getting involved with them and hate the company with a passion. Hate to say that as much as I used to tell people to go with them.

We had a problem with the SIM card after spending 45 dollars on a prepaid package. The person at straight talk had no idea after an hour on the phone, the manager of electronics had no idea but acted as he did and referred us to some guy that had a kiosk in the store selling what we found out were overpriced, used phones. He was able to figure out the SIM card. We, throughout a week or two had three more calls with straight talk. They troubleshooted the same way as all previous, they did not listen to any relevant information we had to provide. After 4 collective hours on the phone with them giving us the runaround, we had enough and asked for our money back. As you could expect they said it wasn’t possible and told us to buy a new phone and they would “guarantee” it would work, with no actual guarantee. We asked for a refund, asked to send one of their “50 dollar phones,” and naturally, nothing but excuses and words of impossibility. They don’t have to have customer service, act like they care when they don’t, they’re generally not that bright and have no idea what they’re talking about even in regards to the product they represent. I recommend going with sprint or having a group plan to lower cost instead. This company is a bigger joke as a whole than their customer service branch.
