Lost legacy paths(FIXED)

I’ve had uberchord since the very first updates and was a very faithful user for quite some time. Although I had stopped before the new subscription plan had come out I was still happy to know that uberchord would let me use the old legacy paths and that I could return to finish them if I wanted. However after going on UberchordGuitarLearning recently, I was very disappointed to see that these legacy paths had been removed from UberchordGuitarLearning completely. I would sincerely appreciate it if I could get access to these paths again and would continue my use of uberchord if that happened

Edit: I don’t know what happened but after logging into UberchordGuitarLearning again after three days the old legacy courses were back. Thanks uberchord very much for creating such a quality app for guitar!

It’s great! Can use some added features (maybe I’m just dumb, though.)

So I very much enjoy UberchordGuitarLearning , I have been using it for only two days, but it keeps me motivated and pushes me to keep trying to learn something despite tender fingertips. I plan on purchasing a subscription for UberchordGuitarLearning , but I wish it had two added features.
1. A legend somewhere in UberchordGuitarLearning where you can acess the meanings of different symbols, I know the downstroke “U” sorta thing, but there’s a “V” symbol that I don’t know. I am sure that there’s various other symbols I will encounter and not understand. Keep in mind I am a new guitar player.
2. A sort of icon that you could press that goes over the instructions of the selected lesson. Other types of programs (not guitar related) have a sort of “i” up in the top corner or so, often ecliped in a circle. Having the aid of a refreshed instructions guide would be immensely helpful. There’s a certain lesson where I don’t know if I should keep strumming or not, and if I had that I would understand, or if I simply had better brain cells...

Thank you, if you all read this and find any helpfulness from my review. I am sure to find some more great things about UberchordGuitarLearning.

Like having a real-world teacher. A terrible real-world teacher.

Put simply: this is one of the most aggravating, annoying apps I’ve ever used. It doesn’t really you what you did wrong, and it wastes your time. Instead of taking the time to fix your mistakes during many of the “progress-bar” based lessons, it just takes progress away and screws you over, as a post to taking the time to help you play the freaking chord. It feels as though they were giving out they’re app for free, so they saved their own time, by having these problems. But you know what? It’s one of the only free guitar teaching apps that’s even the slightest bit good, so, many people come crawling back to this, and guess what! I probably will too, and get ticked off all over again. Pay for Yousician or something, unless you like this then good for you! You probably knew guitar previous, unlike Me, who thought this highly regarded app could teach how to play with causing so much annoyance. Try it, if you feel so inclined, but I don’t recommend it.

Do NOT get yousician! DO get Uberchord.

They are very similar but Yousician will charge you for a full year if you don’t cancel the free trial. I feel that is shady as it gets, only the worst scam companies do that to people. They seem fraudulent. After my year subscription charge, I figured I’d make the best of it but then they terminated the feature for users to submit their own songs. They also removed the majority of their premium songs to an even more premium subscription. Do not support them. You can get a similar style of learning with Uberchord. They have a better price. And my experience with costumer service has been exceptional. They actually communicate with you like s person and not a money grabbing robot that says , too bad.

No support option available, says your not playing the chord correctly even when you are

UberchordGuitarLearning has a decent tutorial to get you started and convince you to spend your money, but a horrible mic for reading chords. I thought it was just me being the beginner that I am playing the notes wrong even though I am following the exact instructions on how to play a chord. Turns out my frustrations were real. I had a music teacher come over so i showed him UberchordGuitarLearning . He had similar difficulties (not as bad as me I’ll admit), but when you play a chord UberchordGuitarLearning doesn’t read it properly. This can leave you stuck on a particular level and frustrate you out of your mind. I am now out of the two week period to get my money back and I just learned that it’s not me, it’s UberchordGuitarLearning . Anyway, still not sure how I would contact support as there is no option in UberchordGuitarLearning . Maybe this review will entice them to make it easily available or at the very least to contact me. I would not recommend UberchordGuitarLearning to any beginning to learn guitar

UPDATE: Feedback Is Key

I have been using UberchordGuitarLearning for a month now and if you are like me and want to know how you are doing with something you are learning, this is UberchordGuitarLearning for you. I took some group lessons which was a big help, but this program has really upped my desire to practice which is the key to getting better at pretty much anything. Whatever gets your axe in your hands will help you get to where you want to be. I look forward to playing with UberchordGuitarLearning and that is saying something if you knew me. Thanks to the developers.
UPDATE: I am now using a Rockband microphone with the apple camera adaptor and i think it helps with chord recognition issue.

Fantastic

I’d been using another learn-to-play-guitar app for a while, but became increasingly frustrated with its hit-or-miss feedback system.

Uberchord’s feedback system, by contrast, is extremely accurate, and their overall system (using real songs - instead of silly toy songs - as the basis for learning chords and rhythm) provides excellent motivation and makes me want to play more and better.

I experienced a small problem with UberchordGuitarLearning and used the in-app feedback to submit a bug report, and they fixed it within 24 hours, without requiring a new download. That kind of turnaround means UberchordGuitarLearning is well-designed and that the developers are proud of their work. As they should be.

Awesome!

I just started learning acoustic guitar and in about a week and half I have learned about 7 chords and can play slowly. I like the fact it corrects you if you strum incorrectly and makes you do it again. I went ahead and paid for the monthly plan as it teaches you more chords. It has a built in tuner and assists you in tuning your guitar. It also has songs you can play to as well. It grades your performance and tells you how well you have progressed. Overall I am pleased. I still will reinforce lessons with an instructor.

Pestered into it

First off, congratulations UC, you have gotten me to write this review. Each day the splash screen interrupting my lesson begging for reviews has annoyed me enough to hope that doing this will make it stop. (If it doesn't, I will cancel my subscription.)

So, with that said. I think this is a pretty good app and the paid content is worthwhile. I haven't played guitar for 15 years and within a few weeks I have learned and play chords that I never thought possible even when I was at my most capable before.

The note recognition is good (using an electric with connector), though I feel the lessons are too generous sometimes when I don't play a note correctly. This compounds on the strumming lessons where it gives you specific chords to play, but as long as you play anything at all you will pass.

The warmup and practice sessions pull out material that is way more complicated than what the lessons I'm going through are offering. Occasionally, it's more difficult than I can play at the moment so I can't complete the exercise - which for a warm up is a pretty bad start to your practice time.

However, I am pleased with UberchordGuitarLearning and lessons, even taking account the quirks.

Issues with the microphone

I've used 2 iPad minis (4th and 5th gen), 1 iPad Pro (2019) and an iPhone 11 Pro Max with UberchordGuitarLearning .

Using three different guitars and two different amps or no amp at all, UberchordGuitarLearning consistently misidentifies notes played. I've been playing guitar for well over a year and have used the built-in tuner, a Boss tuner and Kliq clip on tuner, thinking that there was some issue with the tuning. UberchordGuitarLearning 's tuner is just not as precise as the others I use and wasn't sure if this contributed to its consistent misidentification of notes played. I've not found a combination that produces reliable results. The Eleanor Rigby lesson is a especially problematic with the E minor chord. Third fret G on the first string seems to ge reported a bunch for different chords.

My acoustic with the pick up unused and electric guitars produce the same problem for the same notes. I have a PRS Silver Sky and a Gibson Les Paul traditional and whether I use my thumb nail, no nail or guitar pick, I cannot get the chord. Using the cleanest tone on the amp with no effects, changing volume, etc. don't seem to have any effect.

The chord identification portion of UberchordGuitarLearning is unreliable as well.

There's probably a specific type of acoustic setup that works okay with UberchordGuitarLearning and I'm not sure what it is and don't really care.

Very pleased!

I’ve played classical guitar (nylon strings) for years in the classic style (footstool, reading notes, etc), but never really learned how to strum, play chord patterns and develop right hand rhythm. I am happy to report that I am really encouraged by my progress through these exercises. I’ve learned maybe 10 chords now, played through a few songs on UberchordGuitarLearning and have greatly improved my right hand function, not to mention my confidence! These skills are a wonderful and welcome addition to my guitar experience!

Deleted Uberchord after 3 minutes

After the first time signing up, the first lesson is tuning. There is a tuner that uses a graphic of the strings and arrows show which direction, up or down, tighten or loosen the string and a moving tick line that indicates sharp or flat. The mic picks up the sound. The problem is the tuner does not wait until the string is tune accurately and skips to the next higher string. Something as basic as that should work flawlessly not just because they they put it right up front in your face the first time you use their app, but because it is a foreshadowing of problems to come. Now I will retune my guitar with my Korg, or Polytone. But I was interested in UberchordGuitarLearning . Uberchord, needs to work the problem.

Provides a good structure to learn chords

Really like this application as it gives me a good learning structure (never taken lessons) to learn guitar chords. UberchordGuitarLearning forces me to play the correct tempo, is a wicked task master for correct fingering, and is very intuitive. Only downside is the program “hears” every little mistake better than the human ear. Some chords, particularly barre chords, can be frustratingly difficult to play to UberChords satisfaction. Overall, in the absence of a guitar teacher, this is an excellent way to learn and measure your progress. I recommend UberchordGuitarLearning

Great app to start learning the guitar

So far, it has been great experience. One has to go to songs and learn the other hidden course it has which helps you solidify what you learnt in the course. The start up warm up can be hard as you go along and discouraging. Songs are ok. It just teaches you rhythm. No lead stuff here. No theory either. It just helps you with the technique, somewhat, as you got to learn how to strum and use chords on your own. Tons of areas of improvement.

Frustratingly bad

You can’t back out of anything if you’re accidentally tap it. (There’s no back button or X button). You can’t look at anything without physically playing it on your guitar. (It will yell at you that it can’t hear you.)

Update: Reply to the offensive Developer Reply:
There is no pause button. Perhaps that’s a bug. But in general, the UI and UX are still pretty bad. I used it with my guitar yesterday, or attempted to. The note recognition is quite cool, but the UX is the worst of any app I’ve used. I’m a certified music teacher, have used thousands of apps, (over 370 on my phone right now) and I’d never recommend this to a student if I can’t even make it work myself.

Nice interface but poor performance

I really really want to like this product. The interface is beautiful and the mechanics are very nice and intuitive, optimized to be used in the small iPhone screen. However, the note recognition system appears to be lacking... I registered for the 7 day trial and was considering continuing to use UberchordGuitarLearning later on but decided to cancel my subscription because of this. Often UberchordGuitarLearning does not recognize the chord (believe me, I know it was impecable) and causes you to continue in the same level for ages... making the experience frustrating rather than fun.

A side note is that UberchordGuitarLearning should really have a proper iPad port...

UberchordGuitarLearning definitely has potential but feels incomplete. Specially given the price they ask for it. It is more expensive than Yousician which is a far more mature app.

I look forward to try UberchordGuitarLearning again in the future. I’m sure it will be among the best

Look elsewhere

UberchordGuitarLearning does not work with iPad Pro. Can’t tell the difference between E notes especially and take 20 to 30 seconds to register a chord strum. Checked levels on the an all was good so something is wrong with the note recognition. Couldn’t get past the Em first chord exercise could barely tune my guitar. Guitar tuna on my iPhone next to my ipad was able to pick up everything.

The most advanced technology ever

UberchordGuitarLearning has the most advanced technology on guitar ever. Very intuitive and learns your weak points and leads you to the easiest and quickest way to learn. Also very fun to practice since it has great drums jam tracks etc. You will never get bored practicing and like to play more. I highly recommend it. I am 61 years old and has no affiliation with the developers. This is an honest review .

Uberchord Guitar Lessons

I am a 52 year old first timer to playing electric guitar. While I was trying to look for ways to learn, I came to realize I would want a very structured yet economical and on demand system. Uberchord has been good to me last 4 months. I am almost past “Beginner” and just started playing easy songs that comes with the program. PS. Apology to Ann Lennox for butchering her Sweet Dreams”. Will get better someday.

Helps me learn to play without looking

Just on the free version for now. Want to train myself not to look at fretboard. This helps because I don’t have to turn my head to verify I’m playing a note or chord correctly. Obviously I’m a beginner. With experience I hope to be able to do this by ear but in the meantime this helps.
