Pulse Secure Review

Pulse Secure seems to be a great program for connecting to a secured VPN network. I have used it for over a year now and it will occasionally lose connection, or the VPN will drop out; but that’s due to having to use my cell phone as a hotspot. When good Internet connections are available Pulse Secure doesn’t drop and it does the job it was intended to do.

Ok apps, but uses a lot of battery power

It is a program required by my company. It works as designed but not very configurable. But my outlook, Skype for business are working fine. But one big catch, it uses a lot of battery power. On my iPhone, it drains battery power so quick that the rate of recharging could not even keep up with the battery draining rate. I was literally watching the percentage of battery levels slowly went down while my iPhone 7 was being charged....

iOS 13 broke it

There appears to be a compatibility issue with the iOS 13 upgrade because logging in now shows an all white screen, rather than the adaptive auth prompts. This doesn’t happen when logging in through the iOS Safari browser, so it has to be IvantiSecureAccessClient .

Connect to County BMS Server With Ease

We work with a school county and since they use Pulse we are able to use the mobile app in conjunction with RD app to access their BMS server with 0 issues. Extremely flexible for our needs to remotely (on phone) access the network server.

Ok, but it’s default is not to automatically reconnect

Connection with my organization is often dropped ( which may not be Pulse’s fault). Sometimes I open Pulse and have to click “Connect.” There doesn’t seem to be a Pulse feature that allows automatic periodic (say, every minute or two) attempts at reconnection. However, I will still give Pulse a few stars, because it is otherwise good.

iOS Features Now don’t work since install

My company used to use another app and I enjoy this interface much more. However, ever since this has been installed, sharing photos and contacted via text/MMS/sms has disappeared. The email and other button is still there, but not text message.

This is a feature that is too essential. This needs to be fixed.

Touch ID

Touch ID is disabled. Also there is a support link from IvantiSecureAccessClient opens up the email without any email ID to be sent.
Otherwise it is a cool app.

Not working for iPhone users

Our hospital uses IvantiSecureAccessClient so employees can access the hospital’s intranet for things like signing up to request extra work hours. No one can get it to work from their iPhone which is ridiculous since at least 50% of the employees have iPhones. It’s very inconvenient to have to go to a desktop computer for it to function. I can only get it to work properly on my Window’s desktop. Can someone address this issue for Ascension Genesys Regional Medical Center employees?

This vpn needs work

Speed up connect time. Fix integration with Apple mail client to show last update time while waiting for new updates. Fix frequent drops. Fix display so that vpn connected status is observable in some way on home screen. Fix interaction that causes first lines of email viewable on preview, but won’t show in mail client. Fix “validating recipient...” that shows for minutes when composing email.

Mobile access

Using this application for mobile access during my work day I find it very reliable!

Works fine

Works for the most part. However, Touch ID is not working. Also UI is a bit clunky. Also a it ridiculous to have so much extra text in the “what’s new” description at the beginning and links that no one can click on and not being at least a short url.

Do not update to 9.0!

I wished I had turned off the auto update on my iOS device. Ever since the update this past week, access has been broken. It successfully connects but then you cannot anything once connected. Opened a ticket but they came back with a knowledge base article to upgrade the backend or wait for iOS update (unknown target date). They really need to test things out better before pushing out to App Store.

It works, but what is up with the paste problems!?!

The last update has copy paste messed up. If you copy your RSA token and go to page in it gives you a select all option like you are selecting stuff. No... I want to paste. But if you do tap select all and then you can tap paste. What a strange/bad/not-obvious/non-standard workflow.

This version has an important change

NOTICE: If you use a certificate to authenticate, you will need to re-install it using a new procedure. The certificate will install inside Pulse Secure instead of in iOS as usual.
Developer has failed to notify of this change to users.

Once your certificate gets installed, it all works great.

Can’t update VPN profile

Since they changed the name of IvantiSecureAccessClient from Junos Pulse to Pulse Secure, on iOS you cannot edit or delete any VPN Configurations that were created with Type = Junos Pulse. You’ll have to create all new connections from Pulse Secure which will be of Type = Pulse Secure. Then.....all of your old connections will display as Update Required, which you can’t because a message is displayed to manage them from the Junos Pulse app which does not exist.

Current version doesn’t work

Worked fine until this version. Now it says connected, but everyone sees my actual IP address and can’t get to intranet. Seems no data is actually going through VPN. Completely broken. Nothing changed except updating to this version. I have iOS 12 and 13 devices that both stopped working with this version.

Works great every time

I've used IvantiSecureAccessClient on several platforms, including notebooks, tablets, and phones, and it always performs flawlessly. Throughput is great. It runs invisibly in he background.

How to mess up an app

IvantiSecureAccessClient was working reasonably well up to the last update. It now crashes incessantly and takes many tries to get it to connect. I have many times spent over 5 minutes continually reentering the login information to get to the VPN. In the last day it has become more unstable and I can’t get to my company’s VPN.

Garbage company do not use

We have 250 employees that use IvantiSecureAccessClient and since the release of the update 2 weeks ago our vpn connection has been dropping every 2 minutes and very unstable. Contacted pulse to do a roll back in the IOS version and they refused to help! We work and use this for a multi billion dollar company and this is the support they offer. My advice is stay away!

By

Barely works

IvantiSecureAccessClient doesn’t work more than it does. 75% of the time it tells me my certificate is revoked. Without being able to connect to this I’m prevented from using multiple other applications. This is something that has been going on for over a year now.

Don’t update to 9.0

Updated to 9.0 latest version and there is a severe bug in that it won’t allow access to any network resources. They acknowledge the issue but nothing in 24 hours to either allow to revert back to prior version or release a fix. If you rely on this for corporate access and to get work done be forewarned

Doesn’t work on iOS 12

Cannot use IvantiSecureAccessClient anymore, doesn’t connect.

connections being deleted

connection is randomly deleted every couple weeks. I have to re-fill out the connection details as well as the path to our network drive every three days or so.
