Let me guess. You have to PAY TO GET SOUND TO WORK! My volume is maxed out my phone is not on vibrate. I see a message BUT NO SOUND! I am on a ventilator and HAVE A DISABILITY! I WAS, going to use this to set intervals between time I spend off the ventilator, and time I spend ON, the ventilator! I can’t get sound to work, much less set the timer sound! I now have to find another app! I can’t find a free one without in-app purchases. Thanks for NOTHING!!!!!
It’s a idea for an all but was made completely useless without the free version. You can no longer use it on your Apple Watch, which was my desire for PeriodicTimer. After reading the other reviews and seeing the negative responses by the developer to potential customers I deleted PeriodicTimer .
Seriously, charging $2.00, for basically nothing? Now I need to write my own app and put it in the store.
Mine will be free like this one should be.
I'll set the timer and sometimes it triggers a notification at the selected intervals, but most of the time it doesn't. Even with my volume switch flipped on and volume turned all the way up, it just refuses to notify me, meaning I have to keep an eye on it the entire time. I can do that with the regular built in stopwatch app.
I used this on my Apple Watch for multiple things. I’m a PE teacher, so it was used a lot. I upgraded and sorry I did. I can’t get either one to show up on my watch face. This is a big deal for me. I feel as though I wasted the $2. While it’s not going to put me in the poor house, I lost something that was very valuable to me as a teaching tool.
It’s simple and works. Some of the negative reviews don’t realize the constraints put on developer by iOS/Watch OS. To achieve PeriodicTimer, the developer has a couple workarounds.
The big workaround is that it activates the heart rate sensor as if you’re exercising and even logs it as an activity. Because of this, I probably will only use it for exercise.
There’s no other way on WatchOS to make PeriodicTimer work.
I was using this to stand up every 30 minutes while at work. Just realized this actually starts workout mode (with heart rate monitor)... why?? This drains my battery super fast plus misguides my actual fitness data... if you want to keep that feature add a toggle for people not using this for workouts
It sort of does what it’s supposed to do in the most basic and limited way possible. You can only set two intervals and only in whole minute increments.
It would be nice to have the option, as Apple alarms do, to add a note, to remind you why you set the timer. OK, now it’s time to… do what?
Exactly what I needed, only vibration nothing else
PeriodicTimer is helping me to discover something pretty incredible - but which is only interesting to a very specific type of nerd. I use PeriodicTimer to track the expansion and contraction of the universe, a phenomena which can both be observed by looking at slime mold under microscope, and can also be experienced as a sensation in the body (useful for meditation). That it runs in the background even when PeriodicTimer is closed was a surprise bonus feature, but it has helped me to realize how consistent and exact are the 100 second cycles, and also that there are occasionally stillpoints of exactly 50 seconds. Sorry if this makes no sense, I can’t help it if I’m a nerd. But thank you for making PeriodicTimer available, well worth $2 or more.
Don’t change it
I’ve been an avid mmo player for my entire life and PeriodicTimer is a great reminder to stretch once an hour. Thanks dev 🙏
Similar to reminders that popular meditation apps can send out at a certain time, PeriodicTimer will periodically send out mini reminders throughout the day to come back into the present moment.
I can always trust the timers to go off, even if my phone’s display has turned off or I’ve locked my phone.
I pass off alarms so that I don’t have to acknowledge the snoozes too often. This alert is there when I have time to deal with it. Very handy.
This timer is dead simple: nothing missing, and nothing in your way. For workout intervals, this was just what I needed.
You set any interval—anything from 1 second to 59 minutes + 59 seconds—and this timer counts up to that internal over and over, until you stop it, just giving you 1 concise *beep* each time the interval has elapsed, and showing a count of how many intervals have passed.
That's it.
No B.S., no ads, no confetti when it ends, no automatic female recording saying "5 seconds remaining" to interrupt your music. So clean and simple, it could blend in as a stock iOS utility.
You could use this timer for time-boxing tasks at work, or managing a rotating group activity, or meditation/focused breathing.
Only possible improvement I can see is having the "interval elapsed" sound louder or longer. But I guess custom sounds is available if you pay the one-time $2. And honestly I think I will.
Super simple. Works perfectly. Wanted repeating timer that does seconds and minutes interval - this does just that. Put phone on silent for haptic only.
Please add iPhone capabilities
PeriodicTimer is incredibly streamlined and easy to use, I love how it gives you exactly what you asked for with nothing random or extra. It was the exact app I was looking for even though me needs were very niche.
I do have one annoyance which is even tho my phone is on silent the notifications don't vibrate I am going to look into fixing that but that's it!
Does exactly what I need it for. Thanks gang
