First things first, the market is flooded with auto-reply bots making it difficult for small freelancers to compete.

On top of that, there’s no way to ensure you get paid. I did a job with someone who was “payment verified” but they have completely gone dark and offline, so now my account is at a negative balance from the fee on top of having spent hours doing a job and not get paid for it.

I’ve contacted customer support asking if it’s possible to cancel the fee, as I hate seeing my account be in a negative balance - None of which is my fault — why should I be penalized for the project owner NOT paying me????? Customer support sent me an automated reply email of all this BS which was completely unhelpful. I’m not disputing the pay, I’m literally asking if I can get my balance reset. I’ve had Freelancer for months - I write long , thought-out bids — but I haven’t gotten a single “bite” due to outsiders who are willing to do the job for dirt cheap . Please find a way to localize jobs - US jobs for US freelancers.

As a client looking to hire freelancers for several projects, Freelancer makes it rather difficult to fully engage with talents on this platform. Which also begs the question, if there are talents on this platform, why wouldn’t the company hire them to fix this useless app?…. Are there really talents on this platform ? … I know there are multiple web and app developers on your platform… were they the ones that built this useless app? As you can see, your poor presentation and app development can have a direct or indirect impact on talents on your platform .. IF there are talents on your platform.
It is impossible to be on a desktop at all times.. Freelancer is slow and not at all user friendly. It crashes at all times especially when attempting to view or respond to a message. What’s even worse is the desktop site itself is also slow and delayed with displaying messages.
Whenever Freelancer does decide to work and let’s say you sent an attachment to someone, it does not show you that the attachment were ever sent. It wasn’t until I went on the computer that I realized I had sent 10 attachments of thesame things. I’m pretty sure the this app thought there was something wrong with me.

I wasn’t paid on a job, even though I worked hard on it. this app said they’d try and get the money, but didn’t. They did, however, tell me that I should be more careful. So, if you feel cozy about using this platform, DON’T. They’ll leave you out to dry. I tried to close my account, but there was a 99 cent charge. I asked if they would credit my account, but they felt entitled to the 99 cents and wouldn’t credit it. So, that tells me how much value they have in their product. They’ll scrounge for 99 cents without taking any responsibility for allowing predators to take advantage of you.

Update from “developer response”: Customer service is still terrible and company focused at the expense of the artists on its platform. Don’t expect the company to have your best interest in mind. They only think about themselves. You’re just a dime a dozen.

When I say every single one I mean every single one. One of them made me “take a translation test” and when I “passed” he asked me to join his company’s Facebook page and sent me to a legit looking link when I clicked it immediately sent me to kne of those YOUR IPHONE IS INFECTED deals. Another made
Me take a test and once i passed sent me a link to his company’s jobs which all required that you pay a fee before you start the work so that they have compensation in case you don’t finish the job. I played it off as though I was still interested up until the guy asked for my payment information at which point I replied that how stupid can someone be to actually think that that would work? Because here’s a way to make sure the person finishes the job, you pay them when it’s done. Period. It’s been done that way donde the beginning of time, that’s the way it’s been done since before humans had to ability to record history. So the fact that Freelancer has no way of fishing these scammers off of their app and make it not only a legit place to find work but keeps good hard working people who may already be in a financially unstable situation from getting taken advantage of.

My rating is for Freelancer , not the platform itself. The platform rates zero stars. Freelancer lacks quite a bit of functionality. It was nice getting notifications via Freelancer . But to DJ anything other than respond to a message I had to log in on my laptop.

One day Freelancer just stopped sending me notifications. So I have no idea what’s going on with my projects unless I log in every couple hours. I have tried all the classic fixes and nothing. All my other apps still send me notifications. So I know the problem is with Freelancer not my phone. The only thing it was good for now doesn’t work either.

I can’t find any information on how to fix it. And the support team for this platform is a joke. They most certainly don’t speak English. I’m not sure they even live on this planet. So awful.

I couldn’t be more satisfied with my this app experience. I took advantage of the curator service and went with the this app that was recommended to me. I am very happy with the process. My this app, OweBest, is responsive, thorough and patient. I came to them with a request to modify existing software and it has turned in to a much more significant project (per my request). I am only moderately tech savvy but they have made this super easy. It’s like having an in-house development team. I will definitely continue to work with them through this app for updates, upgrades and future projects.

Although I have not been a member of this app for very long, I am giving it five stars due to how fast I was able to find work within just a few days of joining as a this app and the smoothness of the hiring process. As a freelance writer often times countless hours are spent following up on dead end leads. Freelancer takes the investigative work out whether or not the job I am interested in is legitimate or merely a bust. So with less time spent on the worthiness of the project, I am able to spend more time on the desired project itself. Ultimately resulting in happier clients, who are more likely to hire me for future work.

If you think to add funds on this app think twice. First they will charge you a fee for the money you add. On top of that they will charge you i think is their commission even before you hire anyone. It was more than 10 %. If you the job doesn't work out tough it seems that they keep their commission. WAIT but it doesnt end there, so you want to keep a credit on freelance? Think again every month without any explanation or information that you have signed in in anything they will start eating your credit every month. NO WARNINGS. Beware. They will keep your money will charge for every bit they can and you will have no project. Done and out of money in no time! If you have credit right now and you didn't get in for a few months. Check your balance they will charge you a monthly fee.

I am not the easiest customer to deal with. Thai P. Dealt with me without any frustration even though it could have been warranted. He built me a BEAUTIFUL WEBSITE! Everyone I show is in awww and can’t believe how it looks! This guy is the real deal. He was a little more on the expensive side but his reviews were off the chain and he did more than expected. Very polite, easy to work with and has a natural talent for design and making a website fit its purpose! Definitely choose Thai! There was a guy that was half his price but you get what you pay for and I’m glad I made the right decision!

I am so grateful for their expeditious production! They completed our project on schedule and of high quality! I share our design inspiration and they customized the design to meet our needs flawlessly. I was able to share feedback and changes that we desired and those changes were adjusted in detail. The clarity of communication and timelessness of their responses help the process tremendously. It was obvious that they know their craft very well. I look forward to doing more business with them in the future!

This was a new project that required a person to be very patient and start the job knowing that the project would change over and over. Had the very best experience with our this app team they are the outmost professionals and were able to support our needs. Hi, a couple weeks ago I approach you because Freelancer was charging me twice for a payment I had already done. That time, someone emailed me telling the mistake was corrected and the charged amount would be returned to my credit card. However, the money was never returned. I was being charged for something that was supposedly fixed already. Mi bank canceled the charged amount, and now, I am not able to make a milestone nor a payment, but Freelancer accepted my founds. So Freelancer is not just not letting me make payments, but It is retaining my money, and there is none to solve this situation.
What a bad costumer service

this app is an excellent app and I love this website, but when someone awards you, they cut fees immediately so if the client doesn’t pay then you just lost your money moreover you worked hard for nothing!!! That happened to me twice, I tried to contact support (which is very fast responsive) but they just said wait for them (it’s been months till now)and they will send them a WARNING EMAIL!!!
I’m writing this review to warn new freelancers, do NEVER accept work before your client place a milestone doesn’t matter what excuse they tell ,it’s always a lie !! Their lies costed me a lot so please don’t do my mistake..

On time, very creative designer and easy to work with. I was lucky to find and hired her for my project. She created the logo what I had just imagination in my mind and I was thinking that no one will turn my imagination in to real work, but she did. I will continue to have more business with her and I highly recommend her for any designing projects. She is listening very carefully to your imagination and to your demand.

Best experience with a wonderful designer, she is the best designer and has very professional personality.

I think that the seller or the people that aren’t this app should also need to be verify before they can post a request. I have seen so much people or small business with no review, no payment method, no nothing in there profile or section about them. I am afraid that they are scammers or aren’t reliable. There are too many to discard them. Please pay more attention to that part. Thank you!!

this app is probably an excellent place if you’re searching for someone to do a quick/long term job. However, it is “Not” meant for anyone that needs a job.

I’ve tried Freelancer for a short period of time but in that time I learned that the majority of “Employers” are scammers/bots that either want your credit card info or will try for a long scam (like really long). The 8 job offers I put in for were all bots/scammers, including an individual that recreated whole articles/webpages/contract information just to try and get my credit card info so they could “pay me for materials”. Yet they couldn’t verify a proper email address.

So unless you are looking to hire, Freelancer is definitely not worth wasting your time/privacy/patience on.

So I told the lady to help me make a logo for my company. She did indeed help but after she was done, she ended up stealing my company name and now I can’t use the company name no more. I went trough a lot of trouble to change the company name once more. This cost me a lot of my money and all for them to steal my company. Now I want everyone to hear this, if you’re ever telling them to do something for your company tell them to give you all the right of the name or whatever it is you are doing with them, because they can actually steal your company or anything else if you don’t tell them that they have to give you all the rights to whatever it is you’re doing with your company. So please don’t let this happen to you.

I updated my review to leave a review for Freelancer . Support was awesome to reach out. Freelancer itself seems solid and a great way to communicate with real employers. The about me section for employer reviews should be utilized more. Great app!

My experience was definitely due to bad recruiters as I searched and bid for freelance positions, I received several notifications only to be harassed by recruiters. I had an interview and only a minute or two in when I questioned the fact that the ad did not match the description the recruiter/interviewer said “do you want the job or not!”.
I’m not impressed and will be attempting to disable my account.

I held an account on this app for 2 years for part time side jobs. At one point I was using this app full time over a period of 4-5 months. The only problem was in that 2 years I only ever got 3 jobs. And I was way underpaid. I just took them to get some feedback on my profile. The rest of my time on this app was spent creatively writing bids on posted jobs, scoring high on freelancers skills tests (which are paid) and speaking to potential clients who always turned out to be scammers. this app is a waste of time. Do not use this service. I am a skilled person with many talents and experience and found it nearly impossible to find work. Not to mention you will always be underpricing yourself.

I’m always someone who wants to read a few negative reviews to see what I am getting myself into, so I am keeping the 1 star so people can easily find this, but I am really impressed.

A few days ago I left a pretty intense irate review for this outlet. I had a lot of issues. But this app pointed out some specifics about trouble I was having, and I have to say, they were nothing but helpful and respectful.

They could not have been nicer about everything, and their ultimate goal really was to help me out.

I don’t normally do reviews, and I really just want everyone to know that even as someone who had some bumps, I honest to god think that this is one of the few companies out there who really care.

I can not express how great they have been. I seriously was someone yelling my issues 2 days ago, and I could NOT let this go un-updated.
