It is completely outrageous that an interview app would allow recruiters to only enable one take answers to questions that require a well thought out and seamlessly recorded answer. Does it even occur to the designers that one small nudge of the finger or one minor distraction can upend someone’s entire future?

I made one mistake while recording my interview answer for a program that I was excited to be a part of and now my answer is a complete blank and I will almost certainly be overlooked in favor of interviewees who were more fortunate while using this horrible app.

The nature of video recorded interviews conducted by cold unfeeling computer programs are completely different than that of in person interviews where you do not have to worry about a camera’s position, a countdown timer or the fact that you only get one chance to record your answer with any slight mishap sabotaging the whole interview.

Do better. Give your users at least two chances to get their video responses right. If not for their sakes, then just as a means to mitigate any problems that arise as a result of a crash or some other unforeseen circumstance.

SparkHire works as it was intended to. But like the other viewer said...it’s awkward to talk to yourself. You start to notice the lack of charisma and energy you otherwise have when you’re in the room with someone. I don’t mind it so much but I can see how other folks may struggle. This is the second interview I’ve done of this type and it appears they’re getting more and more popular, so do what I did. Just prepare yourself first. Drink some coffee, freshen up and just pretend like you’re sitting across from someone and you’ll do fine.

I haven’t had any problems with SparkHire , but the one way video interview format is horrible, at least for me. I was so stressed by this that I kept mangling my words and sentences, meaning I had to re-record my responses time after time. At least it made me appreciate the skills/talent of youtubers who do this kind of thing all the time. If I’d known my latest job application used a one way video interview format I wouldn’t have applied. Once this interview is over I intend to delete SparkHire and I hope I never have to use it again.

I was recently required to do a one way online interview using SparkHire. Once I watched a short tutorial it was fairly easy to use. There are opportunities for practice questions and the logistics of recording and uploading are pretty clear. That is until you get to uploading the videos. That’s where I ran into issues. Eventually it was solved with good tech support. You’ll need a strong WiFi signal. Good for screening interviews and opinion polls, but probably not anything beyond.

I liked this so much better than having to interview in person. Doesn’t require scheduling with someone I could do it whenever I wanted and there is way less anxiety. Cool idea, especially for companies with several rounds of interviews.

Awful app that doesn’t work. It kept crashing. Didn’t upload videos correctly. Options missing sometimes. AWFUL app. I’ve never have worked with such a unprofessional app. Even after reaching out their support team. They kept sending me the same instructions. The same instructions even after telling them I did not have the video saved. This has made it so difficult to get a 10-20min interview done. Going on day 4 still trying to resolve what’s going on.

For some reason, SparkHire produces a very poor quality color temperature and light blooming effect regardless of how I adjust my environment. I have to cover the lense partially to get a correct color. Natural light, warm or cool light, doesn’t make a difference. My native iphone camera app does just fine, I’d rather just record natively and upload through SparkHire , it’s really that bad.

P.S. you’re much better off using a laptop to avoid this issue altogether.

Was interviewing for a job that had 5 questions. Uploaded the video from first question, which was then uploaded to the 2nd question. So I went to the third question, uploaded that video which then uploaded to the 3th question as well. And because videos were submitted I couldn’t change them. Highly recommend any company looking for an interview platform not use this one.

SparkHire is terrible it doesn’t work I’ve spoken with Support and they are less than no help at all all they do is tell you to restart it and send you screenshots. I’ve tried dozens of times to try and reload it, re-record and it’s a complete waste of time don’t bother there has to be a better and more personal way of interviewing multiple clients at once and this isn’t it.

Had an awesome experience interviewing for my job. The retakes were extremely helpful. The first video was awkward having to “talk to myself”, but then the process was actually enjoyable!

Quit being lazy and conduct in face interviews. This is only effective if you’re applying for a camera face position. Employers are losing out on potential candidates because they don’t complete the one way video process. If you don’t have time to interview in person than can probably assume you won’t have time or care about employees.

While recording a video for an interview SparkHire was slagging and was crashing. Then when I was finished my videos didn’t upload fully and we’re blank. Seriously need to upgrade this bug cause it might cause me to be disqualified. I have to get with the HR Recrutier to see if my videos got uploaded correctly or not. Waste of time honestly.

Very easy to use and complete the interview. It was very nice being able to do this on my own time

SparkHire works fine but this interview format was terrible! One highlight of this platform was supposed to be “a chance to let the candidate’s personality shine.” But it’s not conducive to that! One take, watching yourself and a timer is a stressful experience. I do not recommend SparkHire!

Before I start my recording I cannot see the question, how many takes or my available think time. I’m completely going into the recording blind with no idea how much time or attempts I may have

Upon trying to use this website on three different computers and 2 browsers it continued to lose connection to media player now i’m doing a job interview on a phone because of this shabby service. would not use

I’m reading all the reviews before I go on my interview I think I seen 1 person that actually got the job through SparkHire . Knowing I’m a great candidate isn’t the problem because I have Strong FAITH IN MYSELF, it’s the fact that their letting an App decide! But here goes….

Why ion the world do companies use SparkHire? I have a limited amount of time to answer a question. I can’t go back? One of my submissions was erased. Takes the human aspect of hiring completely out of the process.

The absolute worst app I’ve ever used. It stalls. Closes on its own. You have to manually upload after every question you answer. Honestly doesn’t even deserve the one star.

As a fellow app developer I am shocked at the lack of development quality given to SparkHire. The instructions even show a phone in the horizontal setting with what would be the home button area in right hand and the camera area in the left hand, yet SparkHire immediately transitions to being upside down with ALL keyboard stand manufacturers. How can you miss this, you are selling a product to be used with other company’s yet your build team has missed this. I have reported SparkHire as unusable on all iOS devices to my employer for what they are looking for.

Ps. Read your ratings and reviews, this is an easy fix and has been complained about for well over a period of time it would take to implement an update to fix issues related to your app.

This was my first experience using Spark Hire for a one-way video interview. The process was extremely user friendly! The "how-to" videos that accompanied the original e-mail were extremely helpful in preparing for the interview process. I felt comfortable using SparkHire or iOS and submitting my responses. I encountered two minor technical difficulties, but these did not interfere with the quality of the interview. When I reached out for support, the issues were addressed by the Spark Hire team the same day! Overall, it was a very positive experience!

The this app app is simply amazing - Within seconds of installing on my iPhone, I was participating in a video interview! The interface is easy to use, and allowed for re-takes of an answer, so if you didn't like the way you said something, it was no problem. Simply put, SparkHire is a must have for any job seeker. My interview went so well, I got the job! this app really hit it out of the park!

As an independent recruiter, the Spark Hire platform/app enables me to let hiring managers & in fact, entire hiring committees get to know candidates on a much more personal level, faster.
It’s easy to use for applicants, as well as clients reviewing the videos.
It’s a great replacement and/or addition to the traditional phone screen.
Spark Hire support has been helpful overall as well. They have a great team.

Got a job with Spark Hire video interview. Instead of taking 1200 miles trip for an interview, I've done it from my iPhone and saved myself the trip.

Very streamlined process, I am impressed that it exists. My current company really surprised me with their forward thinking.

I’ve been interviewed and hired by through internet before but they were live interviews. This is so canned. I’ve successfully done this exact interview before and but on another platform that actually works. This one wouldn’t let me record my response. I gave access to my video and microphone and had tech support “help” me - still didn’t work. My Mac computer, phone and iPad are all new. Maybe I should have used my old 2003 or 2007 PC? If you are going to use technology to do your interview screening keep up with current with technology.

Great experience. I have used this as an interviewee and interviewer. It has been smooth so far and makes the process more efficient.

Tried to use on my iPad Pro, but SparkHire will only orient facing in one direction and can’t be flipped. Unfortunately, the direction it wants to orient is upside-down for how my iPad sits in its stand, which is landscape orientation as required by SparkHire . I got creative and flipped it over some boxes, but then the volume buttons were on the bottom and inaccessible. Frustrating that SparkHire can’t do a simple thing like flip orientation, when so many apps can.

EDIT: After allowing SparkHire access to my camera roll, it deleted ALL MY PHOTOS and now my phone freezes and restarts whenever I open any app. It's been 3 weeks since using it! SparkHire is GARBAGE. / Worst app I've ever used. Not user friendly and freezes every couple seconds. It refuses to upload my interview, and won't let me re-interview. Also, I allowed camera access and seconds later, 6,000 photos were deleted from my phone. EMPLOYERS AND INTERVIEWEES, AVOID!

What a horrible first impression from an employer. "We don't want to pay for you to have a real interaction with a human, so we are going to force you into a video essay." No opportunity for dialogue. The fact that my video is being kept/played/discussed by strangers makes me feel uncomfortable and objectified. I feel like I'm in a confession room on a reality TV show. Is this even legal? How is this different than asking to include a photo with a resume?

The this app App allows you to interview at your own pace, and, in the comfort of your own space. This type of online interview is perfect for those of us who struggle with portraying our true self in fifteen minutes to a stranger who holds the key to what may potentially become our career.

this app is fun and effective . The staff responded within twenty-four hours, if not sooner, to any inquiries I encountered. Your customer service was on point.
